“Of course I remembered. I remember everything.”

College is all about discovering who are, learning new subjects, trying drugs and alcohol, and being wild and free, right?
You go to a university near your hometown, and you love it. It was a party school and parties were thrown left and right, and you don’t even need to be invited. You absolutely loved it. As you were a teenager, you didn’t have much experience with alcohol, drugs, parties, and even sex. You have very strict parents. They wouldn’t even let you have a sleepover. So college was the perfect opportunity for you to do all the things you missed as a teenager.
You went to a bunch of parties and met a lot of people. You even met your first-ever boyfriend, Henry. He was very much a playboy, but you felt like he was different with you. You were so wrong…
You both have been dating for just a few months. Your parents met him, and even your Dad’s best friend Joel Miller met him too. You might as well make him part of the family now.
Henry got invited to one of the biggest parties that was being thrown at your college. It was an end-of-the-year type of party, and Henry of course invited you along.
The party was on a Friday night at a frat house, and there were so many lights and music blaring through the speakers. You and Henry entered inside, and you saw him dab up some of his buddies. You stand there awkwardly. Without any warning, Henry then yanks your hand to come closer to him and his friends.
“So this is my girl. Babe, meet the boys,” Henry said.
His friends look at you up and down like you’re a piece of meat and one of them even whistles at you.
“Damn, so she is real,” one of his friends sneers.
Henry playfully punches his shoulder.
“Yeah she is, and she’s sexy,” Henry bragged.
You felt disgusted. You didn’t even feel valued or even flattered. You did not feel like a girlfriend. You just felt like a trophy that is being shown off to a bunch of assholes.
“She is hot. You did good bro,” his other friend chimed in.
You internally rolled your eyes, and you immediately needed a drink. Henry can be so sweet and kind to you, but then there are times when he’s like… well this.
“I’m gonna get a drink,” you said to Henry. You started to walk away from him and his friends.
“Alright, go get me one!” Henry yelled back.
You give him a quick nod and walk to the drink station. As you were making yourself a drink, a girl gives you a big hug almost making you spill your drink everywhere. It was your best friend, Maya.
“Hey girl!! You’re here!!” Maya squealed while hugging you tightly. You laughed and hugged her back.
“Oh my God! I didn’t know you were coming to this party.”
“Of course I’m gonna be here. I’m here to get fucked up,” Maya laughed. You laughed too.
“Who are you with?” Maya asked.
“Oh, just my boyfriend. You?”
“My boyfriend too, also some of my friends. We’ll actually be by the pool outside. We’re gonna… you know,” Maya then makes a smoking signal with her hand referring to weed.
You chuckle and nod your head, “I’ll keep that in mind.”
Maya gives you one last hug and starts to leave you.
“Well, I’ll be outside. See you around!”
Maya skips away, and you smile at her. You finish making your drink and start heading back to Henry. Henry doesn’t even hesitate to take your drink and chug it down tossing the empty cup to the side.
Shit. You realized you forgot to make him a drink, and he was thinking your drink was his.
“Where the fuck were you? You took forever I was finally growing a beard,” Henry teased.
You weren’t even that amused by him. He’s just rude, especially when intoxicated. You were still not over how he let his friends treat you that way. You honestly would rather hang with Maya than with him, but you hope for the night to go better.
“Sorry, I was talking to Maya,” you replied.
Henry looks at you with a puzzled face.
“Who the fuck is Maya?” he asked.
Now you’re really annoyed. Maya is your best friend, and you’ve told him about her so many times. He’s even met her, yet he still can’t remember anything you tell him.
“My best friend…” you said with a tint of annoyance behind your voice.
“Ohhhh right right,” Henry said while slapping his forehead. Henry then takes a vodka bottle and hands it to you.
“Here drink,” Henry said. You take a swig of the vodka bottle, and you gag.
“Fuck, I forgot how nasty vodka is,” you said. Henry laughed.
“Now let’s have some fun babe,” Henry said while grabbing your hand and leading you to the dance floor.
The night goes on, and the party does not seem to die whatsoever. Maya did leave eventually, and now it’s just you and Henry. You and Henry are absolutely drunk and wasted. You both have been dancing, playing beer pong, and even at one point you both jumped in the pool. You forgot that you were even annoyed with Henry. You were having so much fun.
Your memory is now becoming bits and pieces. You were so drunk, you didn’t even know where you were, but you somehow ended up in someone’s room and Henry was with you. You were both making out on the bed.
You never had sex before. You’ve done oral sex, and you’ve received oral sex. And you’ve been fingered, all by Henry, but you’ve never done the real deal. However, tonight feels like it’s leading up to it.
Henry is on top of you kissing you and your body. He started to take off your clothes, and he was so rough with it that he ripped a fabric on your top. He then starts taking off his shirt. He holds you down roughly and hard. Your shoulder started to hurt because of how hard he was holding you.
You were drunk, and it was hard for you to piece everything together. But you were able to realize what was going on. You didn’t want your first time to be like this. You didn’t want this at all. You begin to push Henry away from you.
“H-Hen… stop,” you mumbled. You kept trying to push him away, but he wouldn’t budge. You were incapable of pushing him away. Henry continues kissing you and slurs his words.
“Come on baby… I know you want this,” Henry slurred. You try pushing him away again. Nothing. He kept kissing you and touching you.
“P-please stop,” you said again except this time your voice was a little louder. Henry pretended to not hear you and kept kissing you. He started to unbuckle his pants which made you snap. You pushed him with all your might, and he fell backward.
“I said stop!!” you yelled and curled up into a ball covering yourself feeling small and vulnerable. Henry pulls up his pants, clearly angry at you.
“What the fuck!!” Henry yelled furiously. You started to scramble looking for your clothes and quickly putting them on. Henry walks towards you, and you immediately back away from him.
“G-get the fuck away from me!” you yelled and before you can even hear Henry’s reaction, you were already running down the stairs and going outside to the front yard. You were holding back tears still trying to process what just happened.
You took out your phone and looked through your contacts. You were thinking of calling your parents to come pick you up, but you couldn’t. Your parents would kill you if they even found out you were drinking and partying.
Say bye-bye to university, and say hello to community college while living with your parents. You kept looking through your contacts, and you couldn’t call anyone. All your high school friends are in different colleges, and your other family members don’t live in your town.
Then you thought of Maya. You clicked on her contact picture, and your phone barely even rang. It just went straight to voicemail. You tried calling again, and it was the same thing. It went straight to voicemail.
Shit, her phone must have died. You wanted to cry now that you have no one to contact. You look through your contacts again, and you see his name. Joel Miller.
Joel Miller, your Dad’s best friend. You’ve always had a little crush on him since you were 18. You always texted your friends that the Joel Miller was at your house hanging with your dad. He always gave you butterflies. He didn’t even have to say anything. He could just look at you with his deep brown eyes and your stomach would flutter.
His broad shoulders, scruffy beard, big hands, his rough voice, his muscles, his natural musk, everything about this man made you feel things you never felt before.
You wish he would want you in that way, but you were probably too young in his eyes, and on top of that, he’s your dad’s best friend. It could never happen. It’s absolutely forbidden. It was just a harmless crush, so what’s wrong with that?
But he was always kind to you. He was always there to give you advice. He always listens and never invalidates you. He understands you. You love your parents with all your heart, but you feel like they don’t get you. But Joel does.
And he’s funny. His jokes are always corny, but you can’t help to always laugh. You both had stupid inside jokes with each other. You both had a bond that felt like it could never break, but when you met Henry, you and Joel’s relationship started to fade. You didn’t talk to him much, and you didn’t see him that much either. This may also be because you never visit home. You wanted to be free and do all the things you were never allowed to do, but tonight made you realize you should go home more often.
You look at Joel’s contact longingly and you finally click his contact. He was the only one nearby that you knew since your university was close to your hometown. You crossed your fingers that he would answer. You were scared he wouldn’t pick up. It was close to three in the morning, so you wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t. Your phone kept ringing, and finally, it stopped.
“Hello?” Joel asked in a groggy voice. He clearly was waking up from his sleep, which made you feel bad, but you needed him.
“J-Joel?” you said with some distress in your voice.
Joel sits up and his voice quickly becomes concerned.
“What happened?”
Now he’s awake. You tried to hold back tears as you tried explaining to Joel what happened.
“I- I was at a party w-with my boyfriend and he…” you couldn’t even finish your sentence. You started to cry softly.
“Did he hurt you?” Joel asked. This time his voice became gruff. It was almost unrecognizable. Joel was always a calm man, but this time it was different.
“Can you please just pick me up?” you whimpered as tears fell down your face. You couldn’t even answer Joel’s question. You just wanted to leave this party.
On the other end of the line, you can hear Joel standing up, and grabbing his keys.
“I’m on my way. Send me the address.”
Your fingers were shaky as you typed the address to Joel. You can hear Joel start his truck.
“Do you have a friend at the party that you can stay with in the meantime?”
“N-no she left already,” you said while choking on your tears.
“Okay, just stay put. I’ll be there in 20 minutes. Okay?” Joel said. His voice was gentle and reassuring. He’s going to pick you up, and it’s going to be okay.
“O-okay.”
You hang up the phone and sit on the ground hugging onto your knees. You felt so cold and dirty. You cried even harder as you waited for Joel.
~~
It wasn’t even 15 minutes, and Joel was already pulling up with his truck. He must have been speeding to get here that fast. You stood up at the sight of his truck. Joel stops the truck and gets out immediately walking towards you. There was concern and worry written all over his face.
Joel studies your face and looks all over your body as if he was searching for any injuries you may have.
“Are you okay? Are you hurt?” Joel asked frantically. He touches your face softly, and before you can even answer him, his eyes travel to your shoulder. He freezes. He sees the fabric of your top torn. He looks at you then back at your shoulder. He takes his hand and unfolds the ripped part of your top. He sees the bruise that was forming on your shoulder. Joel looks at you again. His eyes weren’t soft anymore. They were filled with rage.
“Did he hurt you?” Joel asked coldly. You stuttered. You didn’t want this to be a bigger issue. You just wanted to go home.
“Joel I- it’s nothing I swear,” you replied.
Joel ignored you. He knew Henry hurt you, and he was furious. He never liked Henry from the very beginning. He always knew he was a douchebag.
“I’m gonna kill him.”
In the blink of an eye, Joel was already heading towards the frat house. He was gonna find him, and he was gonna make him regret for ever laying a finger on you. Joel saw pure red.
You immediately grabbed his arm trying to hold him back. You then hold onto the front of his shirt with your hands. Joel didn’t look at you. He only looked at the house with the only intention to go in there and beat the shit out of Henry.
“Joel please don’t. H-he’s not worth it, please. I- I just want to go home, p-please,” you begged as your voice cracked and tears ran down your cheeks.
Joel then looks at you and the rage behind his eyes vanishes. His eyes softened at the sight of you. You were so broken and scared, and he just wanted to keep you safe and make you feel safe. He would never want to upset you more. He wanted to kill Henry. That didn’t change, but you didn’t need that right now. You needed someone by your side, and he was going to do that for you.
You kept begging Joel to not do anything, and he eventually calmed you down by surrendering all of his anger. He nods his head and holds onto your hands that were grabbing his shirt.
“Okay… okay,” Joel softly said. You sighed in relief.
“Thank you…” you whispered. Joel looks at you with the most gentle eyes while holding your hands.
“You want me to take you to your parents?”
You immediately panic at the idea of being at your parents. They would kill you if they ever found out about any of this.
“No, no, please. Not my parents,” you said quickly.
You were thinking of him just dropping you off at your dorm, but you didn’t want to be alone. Not tonight.
“You want to stay at my place?” Joel asked.
The amount of relief you felt that he suggested that. You would love that. To be with him, to feel safe.
You nod your head, and with that, Joel gives you a soft "okay" and wipes your excess tears with his thumb. His gentle touch made you melt. You never wanted him to stop touching you.
Joel then grabs one of your hands and walks towards his truck. His hand was so much bigger than yours, and it made your stomach flutter.
Joel opens the passenger door and leads you inside. He takes off his jacket and puts it over you. It smells just like him. It made you feel so safe. Joel then puts on your seatbelt and closes the door. He walked to the other side getting on his seat and was about to start the truck, but he hesitated. He still wanted to go inside and punch Henry right in the face. You notice his hesitation, troubled face, and the way he was gripping the wheel tightly. You knew he wanted to fight Henry. He didn’t even have to say anything.
"...Joel?"
You put your hand on his arm to break him out of this trance and reassure him, and he immediately looks at you. All the features on his face soften. You both said nothing to each other. There was no need for words. Joel sees you, and you’re safe. He wants to keep it that way, so he breaks eye contact as you let go of his arm. He starts the truck and drives away from that nightmarish party.
Joel drove, and the both of you were silent. You didn’t say a word and neither did he. Joel was itching to know what happened to you, but he knew it was bad. He didn’t want to push you to say anything that you’re not comfortable with. He kept his hands on the wheel and occasionally would look at you just to make sure you were there. He felt silly that he would even think you would disappear from him, but he physically needed to make sure you were there, safe.
You stopped crying, and you felt the dried tears crusting all over your cheeks. You kept your face forward not looking at Joel. You did feel him look at you from time to time, but you just couldn’t bring yourself to look at him right now.
Finally, Joel pulls up to his driveway. His house was the same as always. He still had flowers in his front yard, which you always teased him about, but he takes very good care of them by the looks of it. You saw the same two plastic flamingo statues in his front yard. Sarah, his daughter, picked them out and added her own designs onto them which included stickers and glitter. You find it very wholesome that Joel never took the flamingos down.
Sarah was only 7 now. Joel and his ex-girlfriend had an unexpected pregnancy hence Sarah was born. They broke up and never got married, but they made a mutual agreement to co-parent. Sarah will stay at Joel’s for a couple of weeks then she will stay at her Mom’s for a couple of weeks.
It always crushes Joel when she has to go. Sarah is his whole world, and he is such a good Dad. You saw how good of a Dad he is.
Joel stops the truck and the both of you get out. Joel gets out his keys and unlocks his front door.
“Is Sarah here?” you asked meekly.
“No, no she’s not here. She’s with her Mom right now,” Joel replied. You nod your head. Joel leads you inside into the living room letting you sit down on the couch.
The inside of his house was the same. Nothing has changed. It was so manly, yet it was sprinkled with girly stuff all around because of Sarah.
“I’m gonna make you some tea, okay?” Joel said.
And before he could leave, your stomach dropped at the idea of being alone. You didn’t want to be alone, not now. You instantly held his arm.
“W-Will you be back?”
Joel noticed your panic and bent down at your level.
“Of course I’ll be back. I’ll be right over there, okay?” Joel reassured you with a soft smile. You nod your head, and he leaves the living room going into the kitchen to make tea.
You sat on the couch waiting for him. You slowly started to feel anxious being alone, but then you would hear a little noise in the kitchen which gave you comfort that he was still here. He never left you, and it’s going to be okay. You look around the living room trying to distract yourself from your thoughts. You look at the pictures around you. Some had just Joel and Tommy, his brother, being goofy with each other. There were also some with Joel and your Dad. There were others with just Joel and Sarah. There was one picture in particular of Sarah sitting on his shoulders with the biggest smile on her face, and Joel’s smile was even bigger. It made you smile. It was so sweet seeing this. Joel and Sarah against the world.
You picked up the picture taking a closer look. You looked at the picture longingly, and you got interrupted by the sound of Joel's footsteps. You looked up, and Joel was there with your tea in his hand. Your cheeks flushed feeling flustered, and you immediately put the picture down.
“Sorry,” you said.
“No, it’s okay honey. You know, Sarah kept begging me to get on my shoulders. I kept saying no, but I learned that day, I can never say no to that face,” Joel chuckled. You chuckled as well. You can perfectly envision it. Seeing Sarah begging for something, and Joel eventually giving in after saying no multiple times.
“Well, it made a good picture.”
“Yeah it sure did,” Joel said while sitting down on the couch. You sit down next to him, and he gives you your tea.
“Thank you,” you said as you take your tea.
“Of course darlin’,” Joel replied.
You blew on the top of your tea and took a sip. You recognized there was honey in it as there was a kick of sweetness. You loved honey in your tea. He remembered. He remembered you liked honey in your tea.
You look at Joel, and he is already looking at you finding approval if you liked the tea or not.
“You remembered,” you said. Joel tilts his head.
“With what?”
“You remembered I liked honey in my tea,” you said with a soft smile. Joel smiles back.
“Of course I remembered. I remember everything.”
You look at him in awe. This man cannot be more perfect. Henry couldn’t even remember your best friend, but Joel remembered you liked honey in your tea. It made your heart flutter, and your cheeks become warm. You eventually broke eye contact and kept drinking your tea.
“So, I don’t see you much anymore,” Joel said breaking the silence.
You felt him looking at you, but you couldn’t bring yourself to look at him. You kept looking at your tea almost feeling a little ashamed you don’t visit home often.
“Yeah, I’m sorry. I know I should be visiting home more often,” you replied.
“No, it’s okay. I mean you’re an adult. You should be able to make your own decisions, but… it would be nice to see you more often.”
You look up at him and give him a playful smirk, “Do you miss me?”
Joel chuckles as if that was a foolish question.
“Of course I missed you.”
His face became serious. He means it. He misses you so much. After your freshman year of college, you stopped going home. He understood that you’re probably having fun in college with friends and with boys, but he wanted to see you so bad. He would often visit your Dad not even to see him, but to see if you visited home. Each time, it was a disappointment.
“Well, I’ll visit more often,” you said.
Joel gives you a smile.
“Good.”
You kept sipping on your tea, and it was a comfortable silence between you two.
“Are you okay honey? After… tonight?” Joel asked.
You freeze and become tense. You grip harder onto your tea. You wished this never happened at the party. It happened so fast, you’re still trying to process everything. You felt so naive and stupid.
“I… I don’t know. Henry’s a dick.”
“Yeah, he is. And if I ever see him, I’ll beat his ass,” Joel said. You give a humorless laugh. It was supposed to be a joke, but Joel was also very serious.
“I know you will.” You take another sip of your tea, and Joel puts his hand on your unharmed shoulder.
“Look, I don’t know what happened tonight, and I’m not gonna force you to say anything. But I’m here for you always, and you’re safe. I would never do anything to hurt you or make you afraid, okay? I’ll always be here if you need to talk.”
Tears started to build up in your eyes. Joel cared for you so much, and you knew he would never hurt you like the way Henry did. You start to cry, and Joel without hesitation puts your tea to the side and puts you on his lap.
“Oh honey, c’mere. C’mere. It’s okay. You’re okay,” Joel mumbled into your hair.
You sit in his lap crying onto his chest. Joel rubs his fingers through your hair so tenderly. He whispered comforting words to you over and over again. You felt so safe, so protected. Nothing can harm you now being with him.
Joel continues holding you. You both sit that way for a few minutes, but your stomach starts to turn. You felt nauseated as you felt your body slowly start rejecting the alcohol in your stomach.
“Joel I’m gonna throw up.”
Before Joel could say anything, you got off his lap and ran to the nearest bathroom. You opened the toilet and vomit immediately escaped your mouth. You kept throwing up, and you eventually felt Joel by your side. He held up your hair and rubbed your back.
Between throwing up, you kept apologizing. You felt embarrassed being this vulnerable with Joel, but Joel was so gentle with you.
“I’m so s-sorry Joel,” you sobbed.
“Shhh, don’t apologize honey. Just let it out.”
You throw up more, and Joel continues rubbing your back and holding up your hair.
“Attagirl, let it out.”
This went on for a few minutes, and you felt so much better. You caught up with your breath and leaned against the wall. Joel gets a towel and runs it in water. He tilts your chin up so that you’re looking at him.
“Look at me.”
Your stomach did a whole backflip as he said this to you. He takes the wet towel and starts wiping the excess throw up on your lips and your chin. His touch was so gentle and precise as he wiped away the remainder of your throw up. You felt your cheeks become warm as you felt embarrassed again.
“I’m sorry…” you mumbled.
“Honey, stop apologizing.”
You nod your head, and Joel finishes cleaning you. He observes your face.
“Hm, we should get your makeup off,” Joel suggested.
You don’t even know what your makeup looks like. It probably looked horrendous. Your cheeks became warm again.
“Follow me,” Joel said. The both of you get off the floor, and you flush the toilet. Joel led you to the master bathroom, and he started searching for something in his cabinets. He finally stops and pulls out makeup wipes. You looked at him confused because why would he out of all people have makeup wipes.
“Makeup wipes?” you asked curiously.
Joel chuckles. “It’s Sarah’s. She likes it when I do her makeup and sometimes she likes doing mine.”
You giggle softly. You found that very cute that he does her makeup, and that he allowed her to do his for fun.
Joel pulls out a makeup wipe and gently wipes the messy makeup off your face. He wasn’t aggressive or rough when wiping away your makeup. You just look at him unable to really say anything. He was so kind.
“There. All done.”
You felt so much fresher now that your makeup was off thanks to Joel.
“Thank you,” you said.
“Of course darlin’. You want uh… to change clothes?” Joel asked with a bit of hesitation in his voice.
You nod your head yes. Joel heads to his closet and pulls out one of his shirts and sweatpants. He then hands them to you.
“They might be a little too big, but it should work for tonight.”
“Thank you, Joel,” you respond with a smile.
Joel smiles back, “Of course honey. I’ll be downstairs on the couch.”
You hear Joel’s heavy footsteps walk down the stairs. You take off your ruined clothes and slip on his shirt and sweatpants. It looked huge on you. His clothes smelled just like him, and it was comforting.
You walk down the stairs meeting Joel on the couch. Joel looks at you and his eyes widen slightly. He clears his throat as he sees you. Secretly, he liked seeing you in his clothes.
You sit next to Joel on the couch. You wanted to get your mind off of everything that happened tonight. A movie would be a perfect solution for that.
“Can we watch a movie?” you asked.
Joel clears his throat again, “Yeah, yeah. What do you want to watch?”
“Jurassic Park.”
Joel smiles. “Ah, that’s a classic.”
“It’s a great movie,” you replied.
Joel turns on the TV and searches for Jurassic Park. It was on none of his streaming services, so he rented it for 4 dollars. You and Joel only sat next to each other. As much as you wanted to, you didn’t cuddle with him. You kept your distance and so did he.
As the movie kept playing, your eyes became extremely heavy, and you started to fall asleep. You didn’t realize, but you leaned closer to Joel and your head was on his shoulder. You fell asleep not even halfway through the movie. It was like your body and mind telling you that you were safe. No one is going to hurt you, and it’s safe to sleep. Joel is safe. Safe.
Joel noticed you slumped over on his shoulder. He didn’t dare to move. He found it endearing watching you sleep on his shoulder. He wasn't even watching the movie anymore.
The movie ends, and Joel turns off the TV. He carefully gets up and picks you up in his big arms. You groaned as he moved you into his arms, but you were fast asleep. Joel walks upstairs and goes straight to his bedroom. He gently sets you down on his bed and puts you under the covers. He wanted you to be comfy in his bed while he slept downstairs on the couch.
Joel tucks a strand of hair behind your ear, and as he pulls away from you, you subconsciously reach for him. Even though you were asleep, it felt so empty without him being there. You whimpered and desperately searched for him in your sleep. You felt his arm, and you put his arm near your chest holding it like you were holding a stuffed animal. You stopped whimpering, and you felt safe again in your sleep.
Joel sighed. He didn’t want to leave you alone. You clearly didn’t want to be alone, so Joel decided to stay with you. He pulls himself into the covers with you, and he holds you from behind. You fit like a glove in his arms.
This felt so intimate for Joel. It almost scared him. He never wanted to be intimate with anyone after his ex, but he can’t help it for you. You were perfect. So perfect. What were these feelings he was feeling? You were like a delicate flower, and he didn’t want to wilt or crush you. He can’t feel this way, not with you. You’re his best friend’s daughter. It's wrong. So wrong, but Joel feels so warm and light when he’s with you. He never felt this before, but he brushed his thoughts to the side and pulled you in closer. This will be tomorrow’s problem, but now, he’s going to give you the support and comfort you need even in your sleep.
And the both of you fall into a deep, deep sleep.

Part 1 Part 7
Knowing that light hurts the beasts trying to hurt us, everyone quickly takes inventory of everything that makes light.
Despite how bad it looked or not caring how it looked I stuck close to Riddick. He kept me alive more than once today.
Plus I felt calmer around him. More myself. More in control. Something about being next to a man you knew could handle anything that got thrown at him.
So I stood next to him as I stood around the burning cutting torch trying to figure out a plan.
“So we got one cutting torch, we got two hand lights. There’s gotta be something we can rip out of the crash ship.”
“Spirts.” Paris says leaning forward to fan himself.
I was humid and stuffy in this room but it was better than being eaten alive.
“Anything over 45 proof burns rather well.”
“Mmm molotovs my favorite.” I say earning a snort from Jack.
I wink at her and smile.
“Look, it's better than nothing.” Johns says, glaring at me.
“It was a joke.” I say, lifting my hands up.
I don’t even react as I feel the warm body heat behind me. Johns eyes bouncing to the figure behind me told me who it was.
I don’t know what I did to have the killer of the group be my bodyguard but I would take it.
“How many bottles you got?” Carolyn asks, getting us in order once again.
“I don’t know, maybe ten.”
“Okay.” She says, nodding and looking over at Johns.
“Johns you got some flares.”
“So, maybe we got enough light.” She says, nodding.
“Enough for fucking what?” Johns asks.
“How thick are you? Do you wanna tell him or should I?” I ask, looking at Johns then Carolyn.
She holds her hand up as to tell me to shut up or she has this.
“We stick to the plan. We get the four cells back to the skiff, we’re off this rock.”
“Look I hate to ruin a beautiful theory with an ugly fact.” Paris says standing up.
“But that sand cat is solar. It won't run at night.” He says walking over to Carolyn.
“So we carry the cells. We drag them whatever it takes.”
“You mean tonight with all those things out there?” Jack asks, holding onto her legs rocking back and forth. She was scared but doing a great job of holding it in.
I move to sit next to her wrapping my arms around her.
“It’s better to go now then wait them out. We don’t know how long the eclipse is going to last.” I say gently rubbing her back.
“Alright, how long can this thing last?” Johns asks, making me bite my tongue from starting something with him. That wouldn’t help us survive.
“A few hours? A day tops?” He says, very matter of fact.
I clench my jaw ready to shut up but decide against it.
“Didn’t we have this conversation a few hours ago? These people wouldn’t have left everything they own or the ship for that matter if they only had to deal with these things for a few hours or a day tops.” I say spitting the last word.
“I had the impression from the model the two planets were moving as one and there would be a lasting darkness.” Imam says looking at Johns.
“Thank you.” I say, holding my hand out towards Imam.
“Maybe you can only understand men.” I say earning a glare but he doesn't respond to me.
“Mmm.. These suns gotta come up sometime. And if these creatures are phonic about light then we just sit tight and we let the sun come up.” He says, meeting my gaze, the look on his face like he figured it out.
“Okay, where is the water we are going to drink? Or food or oh yeah we’ll probably freeze because deserts get cold at night time and a few days without sun will most likely kill us. If the lack of water and food doesn't. That’s if I put up with you that long.” I say, clenching my jaw.
“Why you little-.” Johns says starting to stand up.
“Okay enough.” Carolyn says stepping in the middle of the room blocking our line of sight from each other.
“I’m sure somebody else said the same thing, locked inside that coring room.”
“We need to think about everybody now. Especially the kid.” He says pointing at all of us.
“How scared is this poor boy gonna be out there in the dark.”
“Oh don’t you bring him into this.” I say, clenching my jaw and standing up.
“Yeah, don't use him like that.” Carolyn says.
“Like what?” Johns asks, looking disgusted.
“As a smoke screen.” Carolyn says at the same time I speak.
“As a shield.”
“You deal with your own fear.”
“Yeah it’s okay to be scared Johns.”
“Why don’t you shut your fucking mouth for two seconds and let me come up with a plan that dosn’t involve mass suicide.”
“You came up with one. It's sitting here waiting for the lights to go out so those things can eat us.” I say, the sounds of the creatures outside whaling making me take a breath.
Them clearly hearing us.
Breathing the breath out slowly I move to sit back next to Jack, wrapping my arm around her.
“I’m waiting.” Carolyn says, making me smirk.
I may have to change my mind about her after all.
“How much you weigh Johns?”
“What’s it matter Carolyn?”
“How much?” She snaps back.
“Around seventy nine kilos.”
“Because you’re seventy nine kilos of gutless white meat.”
“And that’s why you can’t think of a better plan and you want to use Jack as an excuse.” I say joining in.
“Is that fucking right?” He says jumping up, snatching his gun out as he does.
I don’t flinch.
I watch Riddick stand up stepping in front of him, blocking him from getting to any of us.
“Where are you going?” Johns asks, pressing the barrel of the gun into RIddick’s chin.
I have to stop myself from standing up. The anger I have towards Johns is starting to get to its boiling point. I wanted to hurt him but that would help any of us get out of this.
“This solves nothing.” Imam says, as if he was reading my thoughts.
I watch Riddick smirk, him lifting his goggles and looking over at Johns as the sound of tapping fills the air.
My eyes dropped to the sound seeing a homemade blade right on John’s crotch.
“Okay.” Johns says taking a step and sitting back down.
I couldn’t tell if he was smirking or giving him a fake smile. The look on Johns face creeping me out either way.
My head snaps to the right when Carolyn moves to crouch next to me and Jack.
“They’re afraid of our light. That means we don’t have to be so afraid of them.” She says calmly. Her eyes lifted up to meet mine.
I smile at her then down at Jack.
“You know I will make sure you are safe.” I say, rubbing her back. Jack nods, looking nervous but less scared.
“And you are sure you can get us there? Even in the dark?” Iman asks, looking over at us.
“No I can’t.” She says standing up.
“But he can.” She says looking over at Riddick.
I look up at him, his goggles still off him turning to look over his shoulder at her, the light hitting his face just right to show the silver shine in his eyes.
“That’s the smartest thing you said all day.” I say looking up at her.
She nods and bends down picking up the torch.
“Come on, I have an idea.”
Carolyn leads us back to the entrance of the ship. She uses the torch to shine under the ship in case there are any creatures hiding.
Sticking close together everyone starts to head out following her.
I’m stopped when a large hand grabs my wrist. Looking up over my shoulder I meet the face of Riddick.
Us being swallowed by darkness as the others leave out ahead of us.
“You know not everyone is gonna make it out of here.” He says, his low rubbing voice settling around me. It almost reminds me of the way a cat purrs. Something animal about it.
“Then let's make sure you, me, and Jack are on the list of the ones that do.”
“Is that all you care about?” He asks, sounding like a loaded question which I was trying not to read into.
“Honestly? Yes.”
He smirks, letting go of my wrist and heading towards the door. I stay close to him. The group of us stayed quiet as we walked outside up to the other side of the crashed ship.
“Riddick.” Carolyn whispers it is too risky for us to keep moving forward.
Riddick slides past me, his hand brushing my lower back as he does. I’m shocked by the shiver it shoots up my spine.
He walks to the front of the group, slipping his goggles up to look inside.
“Looks clear.” He calls back.
Johns pushes past me practically shoving me over as he sneaks up next to Riddick, gun in hand. Him having a light on the end of it.
I have to bite my lip to keep from snatching it out of his hand and beating him with it. Thoughts of stabbing him in his sleep enter my mind.
As soon as Johns light shines into the ship a monster comes jumping out towards them screeching.
Riddick drops to the ground, out of the way while Johns jumps to the right landing on his back.
The creature flies over our head away from the light. All of us ducking down. Jack’s grip on my hand tightening.
“You said"clear "." Johns says looking up at Riddick him slightly down a slope.
“I said it looks clear.” Riddick says back, making me smile at the sass.
“Well what’s it look like now?” He asks.
Riddick raises his head taking a quick glance before turning to look back shrugging.
“Looks clear.” He says, making me snort a giggle.
Everyone turned to look at me in a shocked horror.
“I’m sorry that wasn’t meant to be funny, I know.” I say, as Riddick and Johns get up.
Johns casually walked into the ship, everyone following behind. Jack rushed ahead to stay close to Carolyn’s light.
Riddick doesn't move until I reach his side.
“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to laugh. I think the exhaustion is finally catching up to me.” I say, feeling heat rise up my cheeks.
Riddick doesn't answer him, lifting a hand to grab my chin. I don’t speak as he moves my head to the left and the right, most likely looking at the bruises there.
Taking a shaky breath I let it out as his touch fell from my face, my skin almost burning from where he touched it.
“I thought I smelt blood.” He says, I almost feel like more to himself than me. But he didn’t seem like the type to talk to himself.
“Is my lip bleeding?” I question reaching up to touch my lip.
“Must have been something else.” He says, turning towards the ship, the clicking sound of the creatures starting to grow louder.
“We need to leave.” He says.
I nod following him into the ship.

Loud and Heavy
Tumblr media
This is part 1 of my why choose Teen Wolf Fic.
Fic Summery: Harper McCall falls for both Stiles and Derek and has to choose one. Or dose she?
Part Summery: Harper goes with Stiles and Scott to find a body in the woods. What happens when she gets separated and bitten by something.
Warnings: None?
Let me know if you wanna be tagged.
I stood in my bedroom soft music playing from the computer as I tried to pick out what to wear tomorrow. It was the first day of school. The first day of the rest of my life. Both me and my brother Scott decided that we were going to be who we wanted to be in school this year.
He was going to play lacrosse and I was going to do well…something.
Problem with me: I had no idea who I wanted to be. No big dream I wanted to have in high school. This was my last year to live the high school dream but what even was that?
Be asked to prom? I don’t know, haha. Parties. I always wanted to be invited to one of the parties more for curious sake than hanging out with a bunch of drunk teenagers.
I guess me and Scott were different. Well I was. I wasn’t the girly girl, or the nerdy goth. Sweet and shy or bubbly and outgoing. No, I was always in the middle, always being pulled in two different directions.
So here I stood staring at my bed trying to decide what style I was going to wear. Who was I going to become?
Why was I worried about my clothes so much? Because I had to have something that told others who I was.
I was just as much in the middle on the outside I was on the inside.
Everything about me was average. Average height. 5’4, average weight at 170. I have brown eyes only a few shades lighter than my brothers. Brown medium length hair that has just enough body it wouldn't stay straight and not enough waves to hold a curl. Like I said I was average.
My thoughts were cut off by a strange sound coming from outside. Glancing out the window I didn't see anything making me leave to go find Scott.
I jumped, seeing him in the hallway holding a bat.
“Did you hear something outside?” Both of us ask at the same time, making me giggle and Scott look unamused.
“Let's go check it out. I'm right behind you.” I say, holding on to his hoodie.
He smiles and shakes his head at the thing I've done since we were toddlers and starts walking towards the front door and outside.
Rounding the corner of the house my heart nearly stops when someone hangs from the roof Scott yelling along with the culprit until we all realize it's Stiles.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Scott says, sounding annoyed as he puts his bat down.
“You weren't answering your phone. Why do you have a bat?”
“I thought you were a predator.”
“A pre…what?” Stiles says, the look of confusion and shock on his face makes me giggle.
“Hey Harper.” He says smiling at me.
“Hi.” I say, tucking my hair behind my ear and smiling back.
I'm sure it was no surprise that I had a crush on my brother's best friend but it was kinda hard not to. He was funny and just the sweetest person.
“Look, I know it's late, but you gotta hear this. I saw my dad leave twenty minutes ago. Dispatch called-- they're bringing in every officer from the Beacon Department, and even state police.”
“For what?” Both me and Scott say that at the same time but with opposite reactions.
Where Scott had a frown on his face I had a look of curiosity. I guess you could say I got my rambunctiousness from Stiles, us always getting into trouble together.
“Two joggers found a body in the woods.” Stiles says, the glee of mischievous clear in his eyes.
Stiles lifts himself untangling from the trellis and drops to his feet in front of us.
“Like a dead body?” Scott asked, confused and horrified.
Stiles moves to lean on the railing of the porch looking at Scott like he's dump.
“No, a body of water.” He says, sarcastically, making me snort out a laugh which he smiles at making me look down to hide my blush.
“Yes, dumbass a dead body.” He says rolling his eyes and climbs over the railing to join us on the porch.
“Were they murdered?” I ask, the nosy side of me coming out.
“Nobody knows yet. Just that it was a girl, probably in her twenties.”
“That's horrible.” I say, frowning.
“Hold on.” Scott says, both of us looking at him.
“If they found the body, then what are they looking for?”
Stiles practically grins, tickled with the drama of the night.
“That's the best part- They only found half.” He says, his face growing serious.
“We're going.”
“I'll grab my shoes.” I say turning towards the house.
“What? No you're not going and neither am I. I have tryouts tomorrow.” Scott says grabbing my arm to stop me.
“Oh come on Scott it's the last night of summer break let's do something fun.” I pout, sticking out my bottom lip.
“I got this. Go get your shoes.” Stiles says placing a hand on each of our shoulders.
“Thank you.” I say, moving back into the house.
I jog up the steps not worried about the noise. Mom was working tonight so there wasn't anymore in the house.
Ignoring the tightening of my asthmatic lungs I start to grab my shoes until I see myself in the mirror.
I was in pajamas. No makeup, not even a bra on.
Blushing, realizing Stiles saw me like that I quickly moved to my bed to fix the situation.
I grab the first thing my hand touches and get dressed. I didn't really care about the no makeup thing but I at least needed a bra on.
Pulling on my shoes I grab my inhaler and rush back downstairs seeing the boys getting in Stiles' jeep.
“Wait for me.” I call out to them, my lungs already bothering me.
“You okay?” Stiles asks, looking me up and down.
“Fine. Just outta shape.” I laugh climbing into the back of his jeep and taking a puff of my inhaler.
Getting inside Stiles starts the engine and away we go.
Pulling up outside of the beacon hills preserve Stiles stops the car tuning it off.
“Are we seriously doing this?” Scott asks, looking over at his best friend.
“Come on brother, live a little.” I say grabbing his shoulders and shaking him.
“How many energy drinks did you have today?” He asks, looking back at me.
“Umm three why?” I ask, holding up three fingers.
“I told you I planned on pulling an all-nighter so I could work on my style.” I say, waving my hands down myself.
“I think you look great.” Stiles says, giving me a once over then turning back to my brother.
“Of course we are doing this. You're the one that's always bitching that nothing ever happens in this town.” He says but I'm not really listening.
My heart flutters my cheeks hot as I look at what I'm wearing.
I was in jeans, a T-shirt and a flannel. My hair was in a messy bun. A few stray hairs fell around my face and I had on my glasses instead of my contacts.
I was definitely rocking the nerdy look at the moment but plus one for it if Stiles liked it.
“I was trying to get a good night's sleep before practice tomorrow.” Scott says pulling me back to the convention.
“Right, 'cause sitting on the bench is such a grueling effort.” Stiles says, almost rolling his eyes.
“No, because I'm playing this year. In fact, I'm making first line.”
Stiles looks at Scott in disbelief then turns to look at me. Him asking if he's serious with his gaze.
I blush and shrug not knowing what to say
“Hey, that's the spirit! Everyone should have a dream, even a pathetically unrealistic one.” He says smacking Scott on the shoulder and turning to open the car door.
“We're going to get in so much trouble.” Scott says, looking at me.
“It'll be fun, come on.” I say, turning to hop out of the Jeep and head towards the woods.
We all three walked in silence for a little while. It was a clear night letting us see how to move through the woods without tripping over our own two feet.
“Just out of curiosity, what half of the body are we looking for?” Scott asks, mimicking Stiles' sarcastic tone from before.
“Huh? I didn’t even think about that.” Stiles says, glancing at me with a sheepish look on his face.
“And Uh…What if whoever killed the body is still out here.”
“Also something I didn’t think about.” Stiles says flat out embarrassed.
“You two are going to get me killed.” I say looking at them.
“Me? You were the one who wanted to live a little.” Scott says.
“Well yeah, but…” I trail off not having an answer. We were also starting to climb up a hill. No way would I be able to talk and climb at the same time.
“It’s comforting to know you planned this out with your unusual attention to detail.”
“I know.” Stiles says through labored breathing.
Reaching the top of the hill I bend over holding my knees, my ears ringing as if I've been holding my breath for too long.
I close my eyes not listening to the other two, just focusing on my breathing.
When I lift my head I’m alone. Looking around I see no flash light and I don’t hear anything other than my ragged breathing.
“Guys?” I question, walking forward to catch up with them.
“Scott? Stiles?” I call out my heart rate starting to pick up at the thought of being alone out here.
Hearing a snapping twig I turn to head towards the noise knowing they can’t be too far away from me.
Walking around a large tree I freeze when I see something glowing red in the distance.
Thinking it’s a police car I duck behind a tree not wanting to get in trouble. Stiles Dad would know I was out here with him if he caught me.
I blush at the thought of having to explain that to him.
Hearing rustling leaves I stay perfectly still scared of being found. When the sound stops I let go of the breath I was holding.
Peaking around the tree I see the same red glow yet it’s closer. Right in front of my face and its eyes. A pair of glowing red eyes are only inches from my face.
Them set into the face of a very large animal. I don’t get a chance to look at it before it lunges at me.
I scream as it tears into my skin biting down hard into my shoulder. I try to pull away from it, hitting it as hard as I can.
It lets go and takes off running leaving me there. I jumped up and pushed myself in the opposite direction, scared that whatever it was would come back and finish the job.
I go as fast as I can ignoring my burning lungs scared the thing was right behind me. I don’t slow down even when it starts to rain.
Fear piping through me drives me forward. I don’t stop until I run out into the road the sound of screeching tires and a horn fills the air.
Headlights blinding me as a car stops inches from hitting me. I stand there shaking as the driver door opens and someone walks up to me.
“Are you okay?” Asks the man who got out.
He is taller than me, his broad shoulders making him seem a lot bigger than me as well.
“I…It..something is out there.” I say my eyes burning as tears start to run down my cheeks.
He doesn't say anything, his eyes jumping to my shoulder. I could feel the warm trail of blood running down my back.
I let out a hiss when he lifts what’s left of my ripped flannel off my shoulder.
“What happened?” He asks, looking at me, his jaw clenched.
“I don’t know. Something bit me.” I sniffle out.
“Okay. Come one I’ll give you a ride home.” He says, wrapping his arm around me.
I let him, feeling scared but not as scared as I was in those woods moments ago. He opens the passenger door and helps me get in.
I wrap my arms around myself as he jogs around the front of the car and gets behind the wheel.
We don’t speak as we drive back towards town. I sit there shaking the heat cranked up.
“Do you, uh, want to talk about it?” He says, clearly not used to comforting people by the tone in his voice.
“I don’t even know what happened.” I say, staring at the dash.
He didn't say anything, the ride to my house was silent after I told him the address. I should have gone to the hospital but I didn’t want to worry my mom or get any one in trouble.
I get out of his car when he pulls up the crack of thunder sounding overhead, the rain only increasing.
Wrapping my arms around myself I head towards the door surprised when he gets out.
“Thank you.” I say looking at him.
He nods, handing me a paper with scribbled numbers on it.
“I’m Derek.”
“Harper.”

Ask me anything peeps
You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.
By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.
I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?

I need more please and thank you. This was so cute you got everyone right I loved it :) Oh my gosh I just wanna kiss his little face
Tumblr media
holding on {alex karev}
Tumblr media
plot: you and alex aren't friends but he's the person that sits by your hospital bed day and night until you wake up.
character: alex karev (early seasons) x reader
Tumblr media
The steady beeping of the various machines was something that Alex had grown tired of two days ago, the machine's volumes had been turned to 0 but his anxious eyes kept flickering to them every few seconds just to be sure. The background noise of the hospital was something he was used to and it was an oddly comforting sound. Now, the silence of being in the room with you had been nice at first but now that he was here, with you, waiting... just waiting... the silence was unnerving him.
He tapped his foot, checking the clock on the wall. Bailey should've been here by now, she promised him that she'd check on you every two hours. She was late. Anger surged through his body causing his heart to pound and his fists to clench.
"You're such an idiot," he could hear you scolding him in his mind, "if you just stopped dealing with your problems with sheer anger then maybe, maybe people would actually start to like you."
He scoffed.
You and him had hardly been friends. You and the rest of Bailey's interns were the best of friends, all living together in Mer's mom's house so why wasn't George or Izzie or Cristina or Mer here? Why was it Alex? That's all the four of them had been whispering about. Cristina asked Alex, Izzie asked Alex... hell, Bailey even asked Alex. Alex had ignored each of their questions and instead gave some snarky asshole comment with an eye roll. Alex didn't even know why he was here - why he'd purposefully demanded the week off to be by your bedside day and night sleeping on a camping bed with the scratchiest sheets in the world. He didn't know and yet, here he was.
You were annoying. You annoyed him. But since the news of the accident and since you'd been in a coma, Alex couldn't stop thinking about the way you laughed as you teased him. He couldn't get one specific moment out of his head.
You and Alex had been working on a case together - much to your dismay - and Alex had opened up slightly, letting you see that he was much more than what you previously thought.
"So... you're not just an asshole with the emotional range of a teaspoon, who knew?" You helped yourself to the bar stool next to Karev. Joe glanced at you, asking if you wanted your usual to which you nodded.
Alex rolled his eyes, "Whatever."
There was silence for a few seconds before you tried again, "I know you have this hard 'I don't care' exterior," you started, "and I know it's probably because of some past trauma in your life, Karev - believe me we've all got some shit - but..."
"Are you gonna keep giving me a stupid high school girl pep talk or are you gonna shut up and drink?"
It was your turn to roll your eyes now, "Joe, another round please."
As Joe poured the two of you more drinks, Alex sighed and looked at you, "Thanks," he murmured quietly, "I'm not- I don't..." he cleared his throat, "I don't mean to be an asshole all the time... I don't really know... Social shit isn't really my thing."
"Now who's acting like an emotional high school girl?" You teased. Alex laughed, a genuine smile stretched onto his face. Yeah... maybe he wasn't so bad after all.
So after the accident, Alex stayed.
It was then Bailey strode in, chart in hand, "Karev," she said glancing up for a second, "you look like hell. Don't you think you should go home get a proper sleep? Take a damn shower?" She could see the worry in him, she could see how stressed out he was; the dark circles under his eyes, his nails chewed down. Alex might not even know it yet but he cared about you.
"I'm staying," he said with a nod standing to look over her shoulder at your chart, "Any updates?"
"You tell me, you're the one who's been here since she got admitted." Bailey moved to you, turning the volume up on the machines, checking your levels.
"Oxygen levels were a little low at 3am, managed to level them out... No issues since." He nodded, arms crossed with a hand rubbing at his jawline, "Why hasn't she woken up yet, Bailey? She should be-"
"Karev," Bailey said, voice strong, "Go get yourself a cup of coffee, now."
"I don't-"
"Now, Karev. Let me do my damn job and stop hanging over me. Coffee."
With a few harsh words which made Bailey surprisingly laugh, Alex stormed out of your hospital room, storming past O'Malley and Stevens who had come to check in with Bailey on how you were doing.
Bailey leaned down closed to you, "If you die, god help us all... that boy..." she looked to the door where Alex had left from, "he'll be lost forever. So don't you dare, you hear me?"
The coffee machine was a minute's walk away from your room so Alex would know if anything were to happen to you, he would know but he kept checking over his shoulder anyway just in case. He was exhausted, he couldn't remember the last time he'd drank or even the last time he'd eaten. You had consumed him for the last two days; making sure that you were okay was his first priority.
He stopped at the coffee machine punching the button for a crappy black coffee that he wasn't going to drink anyway, "Come on," he grumbled as the cup dropped and the coffee began to pour in slowly, "Damn piece of crap machine, hurry the hell up!" He yelled suddenly, slamming his fist into the plastic front. Around him, people stared but he didn't care. When the coffee finally stopped, he pulled the cup out when he heard it.
"Code blue! I need a crash cart! Room 2203!" It was Bailey. It was you.
Boiling hot coffee splashed over the floor, the cup dropped and on the ground as Alex Karev took off running.
His heart pounded, usually the thrill was the thing he loved the most but this wasn't a thrill, no, this was dread. When he burst into your room, the first thing he heard was, "Clear!" and heard the noise of the defibrillator.
"What's going on?!" He yelled over the chaos.
"Get him outta here!" Bailey yelled, "Charge to 200! Get him outta here, O'Malley!"
George tried but a determined Alex was a strong Alex. He resisted George's grip, shoving him back every chance he tried to take him out. It got to the point that George gave up, "Dr Bailey!" He exclaimed, hopelessly as Alex barged to your bedside. Bailey couldn't do anything, she was busy trying to save your life, she couldn't deal with Karev as well so she let him be.
"Don't you dare die on me," Alex hissed, eyes flooding with tears, "don't you dare. Can't do that to me, (y/n). Can't have me sitting here waiting for two days to just die on me-" he looked to Bailey, "Save her... please."
Bailey's eyes met Alex's and she found a lump in her throat, "You hear him?" She asked you as the paddles charged, "don't you dare die on us, (y/n)." With one final shock, the monitor started to beep again, "Heart rate is coming back up," she said with a relieved sigh, "Thank the Lord. Levels are stabilising."
Alex collapsed into the chair at your bedside, hand clamped around yours, as his eyes closed, letting the relief wash over him. You were alive; you were stable.
"What- what caused it?"
Bailey shook her head, "Don't know, levels were fine but as soon as you left the room they started to drop so do me a favour, Karev," she looked pointedly at him, "don't leave this room again." Normally he would've bit back, said a comment about her forcing him out but instead, he just nodded falling back into his chair, hand still in yours, "I'll check every hour, okay? You page me immediately, got it?" Again, he nodded and then the room cleared out.
Alex didn't turn the monitors down, he needed to hear the steady beep to know that you were okay, you were alive and you were breathing. For the last three hours that he'd sat here, he had prayed to every god he could remember the name of - he didn't know if it counted but even started praying to some Greek Gods as well. Why have God in the title if it doesn't count? His hand was still firmly in yours.
Bailey had checked five times in the three hours, checking on you but also on him. She brought him a soda, a sandwich and a muffin and didn't leave until he'd drained half the can and eaten one of the sandwiches. He hadn't realised how hungry he was until he'd started eating, he devoured the rest of meal once she'd left. You were still stable but you weren't awake yet. Bailey was optimistic but Alex wasn't. He was dreading the worst, expecting your levels to become unstable again but as he was dosing off, he felt your hand twitch in his.
He shot up, "(y/n)?" He asked staring at your hand and then at you and much to his relief, your eyes began to flutter open. He let out a sound that was half laugh, half sob. Utter relief crashed over him, "You're awake," he grinned, "you're actually awake."
"A-Alex?" You croaked.
"Here," he said gently as he grabbed a plastic cup and straw and filled it with water from the jug on your bedside unit, "Drink up. How you feeling?"
"Sore."
"Multiple ruptured organs and a few broken bones'll do that to you," Alex teased with a smile. You noticed his hand was still in yours, warm and strong. He saw your eyes narrow at your joined hands and he was quick to pull his back despite everything inside him not wanting to, "I- I'm gonna page Bailey, you drink up." He helped you take the water and left. He was just outside, close enough to make sure that you were still safe - still alive.
It was as he left you looked around the room and you noticed the camping cot which was set up on the floor next to your bed. You frowned. Someone had been staying here. Was it... no, it couldn't have been Alex; Alex hated you.
Your thoughts were cut off by Bailey bursting into your room, "Oh thank the Lord," she grinned, "it's good to see you awake. You scared us." As Bailey checked you over, Alex returned to the seat next to you. Bailey saw your confused expression seeing him sat there, normal clothes not working, "Karev," she said, "go and get (y/n) a sandwich, will you? She's hungry." Alex went to argue, to tell Bailey she told him not to leave your room but Bailey's pointed look made him stop and nod. He left a second later giving you one last worried look, "She's fine now go."
You looked up at Bailey who sighed and looked down at you, "You had that boy scared to death, you know."
"Who? Alex?!"
Bailey nodded, "You're not the only one who's surprised. As soon as you were admitted he was here. It was his day off and he was here. Soon as you got outta surgery he was set up in your room. He hasn't left since Tuesday."
You looked down to the cot next to you, "He's been here the whole time?"
Bailey nodded, "I don't know what's going on between the two of you - if anything - but I'd say that there's something." Your frown deepened and Bailey smiled, "Just... be patient with him."
When Alex came back, Bailey gave you a secret nod with a knowing smile before she left promising to come check on you every hour and to not dare think about going back into a coma otherwise she would kill you. "I'm a doctor, I know how to save people but I know how to kill them too."
"Hey," Alex said as he placed a sandwich and soda on the unit beside your bed, "You okay?"
You nodded, finding yourself rather overwhelmed and touched by his actions. He - Alex Karev - had stayed by your side since the accident. What did that mean? What did Dr Bailey mean? You nodded quickly, "Yeah," you said softly, "just tired."
Alex puffed out a long breath as he sat in the seat next to your bed, "Yeah, you must be. Gave me- gave us all a fright."
Silence fell and the two of you fell into the comfort of the sounds of the hospital. You sipped at the soda Alex had brought before curiosity got the better of you, "Alex... why did you stay with me?"
You could've sworn his cheeks flushed a darker shade of pink but he rubbed his hands over his tired looking face so you couldn't have been sure, "Hell if I know," he muttered, "it's not like we're friends but... I didn't want you to be alone. You're the only one that's almost like a friend and... I dunno." He shrugged, "I don't really understand it myself." Maybe there was something deeper lurking under the surface but he didn't know. That was something you'd have to navigate together, "I know you'd have probably preferred Cristina or Mer-"
You took his hand and gave it a gentle squeeze, "Thank you, Alex," you whispered, "for everything. Thank you." Now, this time you could see the tips of his ears go pink. You smiled, "Now when are you going to shower cause boy you are looking rough-"
"Shut up!" Alex rolled his eyes but he laughed with you and for once, it felt nice to joke around with him. It felt normal. You didn't know what was going to happen but you somehow knew that he would be beside you, figuring out this crazy journey together and somehow, that made it a little less scary.

Party Games
Tumblr media
This is part 6 for The Bet. I hope you like it. I had away to much fun writing this.
Draco Malfoy X Reader
Fic Summery: Draco bets reader she can’t make him fall for her.
Part Summery: At the party Reader and Draco have a conversation.
Warnings: Maybe a word or something not for sure.
Let me know if you want to be tagged in something.
Part 1 Part 5
“This was your best couples pose?” Draco says from behind me.
We weren't touching except for his legs on either side of mine.
“They said your favorite is not the best and no it’s not my favorite either.” I say looking around the room.
Other couples were sitting and standing. Everyone was talking, music playing overhead so you could only hear whoever was closest to you. Everyone cuddled up or hugged. All in different poses you would share with your crush.
“I feel sorry for whoever hates PDA.” I say more to myself than anyone.
“Do you?” Draco asks from behind me.
“No. I mean I wouldn’t go too far in front of everyone but hugging, kissing sure.” I say shrugging. Then mentally slapping myself for just letting that slip out.
I was getting more and more relaxed the more I was around him. Maybe it was the shot I took. Yeah that was it.
“So what’s your favorite position?”
“Excuse me?” I ask turning to face him.
“I meant a couple poses or whatever.” He says, rolling his eyes.
“Sure you did. You just want to know how to get me off.” I say, swearing I make him blush.
Him clearing his throat.
“Just answer the bloody question.”
“Depends. I guess.” I say facing back forward. Arching my back from leaning forward so much trying not to touch him more than I had to.
“You can relax, you know. I won’t bite.”
“All snakes bite.” I say more to myself than him. A warning I told myself when I first met him.
“Only if you ask me to.” He says, making me chuckle.
“What’s with you tonight?” I ask looking over my shoulder.
“Must be the drink. I just say whatever pops into my head.”
“That sounds about right.” I say, agreeing with him. Noticing it a few times already.
“So you want to bite me huh?” I ask, that thought proving my point when it comes out my mouth.
“It’s…kinda…” He says fighting back words.
“One of your things. Of course it is. So you're embarrassed by it or your girlfriend doesn't like it.”
“Pansy doesn't like it.”
“Some girls don’t like pain.” I say, shrugging. Not shocked by that news but I didn’t see her drawing a hard line at biting. Who knows.
“You do?” He asks, a glint of something in his eyes.
“Like pain? No. But biting is different.” I say, shrugging, taking a mentally note to stop doing that.
Sighing I take a deep breath and let myself relax, leaning back I lay on his chest trying not to think about how I slotted into place like a puzzle piece.
“Is this okay?”
“Yeah. Why are you always worrying about what’s okay? Or if I'm okay.”
“I don’t worry about whether you're okay. But consent is important to me. You have the right to say no just like anyone else.” I say, trying not to look at him.
“You’re so weird.” He says softly.
I nod agreeing with him.
“So do you think we will really have to be like this for an hour?”
“Most likely the twins like playing with people.”
“What other tasks do you think they have?”
“I’m guessing playful stuff like this. Everyone is having a good time but us.” I say, watching people all at ease. None of them seem to be having heavy conversations.
“You're not having a good time?”
“I kinda wanna take a nap to be honest. I didn’t sleep much last night.”
“Why?” He asks, sounding like he cared.
“I just have a lot going on. School is kinda kicking my butt this year.” I say chewing my lip to make me stop talking.
“Snape seems pretty rough on you this year.” He says, his breath brushing my neck.
I don’t say anything back. My head starts to hurt as it tries to get my thoughts out.
“How's your arm?” I ask him no longer in a sling.
“You mean the one that bloody bird broke.”
“You deserved you. But yes that one.”
“It’s fine. I can play quidditch this weekend.”
I nod not really listening to him. I could feel eyes on me, them burning a hole in me as I turned and I saw Pansy glaring at me. Her partner's arm wrapped around her shoulders as they stood next to a table of snacks.
“Are you listening to me?” Draco asks, I shake my head.
“No. Pansy is trying to kill me with her gaze.” I say looking over at her.
I feel him chuckle under me, his arms moving to lazily wrap around my middle and settle on my stomach.
“What are you doing?”
“Helping you win the bet.” He says, making me remember that cursed agreement.
“Oh right. That.” I say trying not to think about the few weeks ago when I kissed him. When for a second I let myself pretend that me and him could happen.
It took all of the next day to hear him complaining about something to wake me up once again.
“Why do you want me to win?” I ask remembering what he said a few weeks ago but I wrote that off as him trying to get something out of me.
Right now he couldn’t lie it seemed, none of us could.
“I don’t know…” He says, balling his fists up, him fighting his mind not to answer.
“You don’t have to tell me. Just wanted to know the real reason.”
He nods but doesn't say a word.
“Do you want to win?” He asks, flipping it back on me.
“Yes.” I say biting my tongue as it slips out before I can stop it.
“Why?”
Sighing I find myself absentmindedly playing with his slytherin ring without realizing I'm doing it as my mind thinks about my answer.
“I want to get back at Pansy and I think you are better off without her.” I say, surprised when he takes the ring off and drops it into my hand. My fingers twirling it around like I’ve played with it a thousand times.
“Who I’m I better off with?” He whispers his breath brushing my ear.
“Anyone but her. I think she makes you meaner than you want to be.” I say, putting his ring back on his finger as I watch the twins walk towards us.
“Well you too look cozy.”
“That’s kind of the plan right?” I ask looking up at them.
“Yeah, we thought we would let you pick the next game.”
“Why me? Don’t you two have this whole night planned. What is this anyway? Some weird fetish or are you just crazy?” I say earning a laugh.
“We wanted everyone to stop looking in the obvious places for love.” They say grinning, making me glare at them.
“That’s a load of crap but anyways yeah sure I’ll pick. I pick whatever gets me out of my head the fastest.”
“We were hoping you would say that.” They say at the same time grinning making my stomach drop.
‘What did I do?’ I think as they get up onto the take getting everyone's attention once more.

Warnings: Language. Mentions of death.
Part 1 Part 6
Let me know if you want to be tagged :P : @here4thespice @amarokofficial @backseat-serenade-dizzyhurricane @pinkcrystal44
The inside of the crashed ship was pitch black. It makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
Hearing a few clanks, a light floods the small space as they turn on a torch.
“She should have stayed down.” Jack says looking up at me is sad from seeing Sharon die.
“If she only would have stayed down she would be okay. Like you.” She says, wrapping her arms around me in the middle burying her head in my chest.
“Shh, I know. I’m so sorry.” I say rubbing her back. Thinking of Riddick knowing if it wasn’t for him I would be dead. Very dead.
I don’t know what made him save me but I wasn’t going to question it. In fact I was wishing I knew a way to repay him.
“You remember the boneyard?” Johns asks, making me look at the man I was just thinking about.
I swore I could see a smirk settle on his face. I couldn’t help but wonder if he was thinking the same thing as me.
“This just might be the thing that killed everything else on this planet.”
“What are we gonna do now?” Jack asks, looking up at me.
“We are gonna stick together like we always do.” I say smiling at her.
“Is this the only light we have? Is this everything?” Paris asks.
“There's a cutting torch on the floor here somewhere.”
“Quite, please, everyone.” Iman says, him placing his ear on the door.
Jack moved away from me to do the same.
The wailing of the creatures outside being heard in the distance. I take a breath, feeling my heart drop knowing we are slowly getting surrounded.
“Why do they do that? Make that sound?” Jack asks.
“It’s how they see. With sound reflecting back. Letting them know where we are.” I answer everyone turning to me.
I jump along with everyone else when rattling sounds from behind me make me spin around to face the noise. Everyone is shining their lights trying to see what is going on.
“Could be a breach in the hull. I don’t know.” Carylon says softly.
“Oh great.” I mutter not wanting to think about how many of those things are in here with us.
“Come on, Johns. You got the big gauge.”
“I’d rather piss glass.” Johns says, making me snort.
“Of course you would.” I say, earning a glare from him.
“Why don’t you go fucking check?” He says, challenging me.
“I’m not staying here anymore.” Paris says before I can answer.
“Where are you going?” Johns asks spinning around to go after him.
“Hey! Hey!.” Johns says, the others stopping him from opening the door.
I ignore them easing closer to Riddick, him looking down at me, his eyes shining. He didn’t have to say anything. It was clear he didn’t want me to check out if there were any monsters in here with us.
I step closer to him, my stomach flipping as I do. Like standing on a tall ledge getting ready to jump. Pure adrenaline was pumping through me when I stood next to him.
He jerks his head for me to follow him, us getting closer to the group.
“Hurry!” Iman yells, him opening up a small closet for us to get into.
Riddick, herding me into it before slipping into it himself, the others rushing in as well.
“Now we are trapped in a much smaller space. I hate this” Paris says, making me roll my eyes.
‘At least we are not out there with it.’ I wonder how these people were going to survive.
My head snaps to Iman yelling at the creature outside stabbing through the door with its claw. Almost hitting his head.
‘Oh great it’s smart.’ I think, as Riddick leans down, lighting the cutting torch off Paris lighter makes him jump and look up at him.
I move closer to Riddick as he starts cutting a hole through the wall. Johns firing shots off at the door we just came through.
“Does it not realize these things like noise?” I ask, Riddick lifting his mouth in a smirk.
I smile glad he got my joke.
He passes the torch to me as he kicks the newly made door open. A circle hole letting us out of the room and into a bigger part of the ship.
I crawl through it following him, Carylon and the others behind us. I pass her the torch, to help the others get through.
Jack latching onto me once more. I smile at her wrapping my arms around her to hold her close. Her eyes bounce around the room as the others start barricading the hole.
“Where is Riddick?” Johns asks, looking around.
Letting go of Jack I turn around to see Riddick has disappeared.
“I said," Where is Riddick?” Johns says again, making me realize he was talking to me.
“I don’t know. I don’t have a tracker on him.”
“Go find him.” He says, gesturing  towards the dark ship.
I roll my eyes not wanting to cause an argument with Johns. It would be quieter if I just did as he asked. I didn’t want the creatures to find us again.
“Stay with the group. I’ll be right back.” I say to Jack.
I move to start easing into the darkness. Taking slow cautious steps. Feeling like we were in the cargo bay of the ship I moved past boxes and nets.
The more I walked the darker it got since I was getting away from the group's light source. Moving farther and farther away until I couldn’t hear or see them anymore.
I was submerged in complete darkness when I felt the feeling of being watched. Swallowing, I slow down, trying to listen harder. To see if I could hear anything around me.
I take a deep breath, when I feel arms wrap around me. A large hand covering my lips as I was pulled into a firm chest.
The growing familiar smell of Riddick invading my senses. I don’t know how I could relax and have my body heat up at the same time.
He doesn't say anything. Only uses his hand on my mouth to make me look up.
Looking up to see the movement of something. I blink a few times shocked when my vision clears enough to see the silhouette of a creature eating something.
I let him pull me back into the shadows. Into an even darker space if that was possible. Hidden for the beast. Or at least hidden enough that it cared about its meal more than us.
His hand falls from my face to my waist as he eases around me. Moving to stand in front of me. His large frame blocked me from view.
If I didn’t know any better I would say he was protecting me. But he wouldn’t do that? Would he?
Despite the question in my mind I reach up and grab the back of his tank top. Telling myself it was in case he took off I would know to follow. To run to safety but I would be lying if I didn’t find something comforting about touching him in some way.
I’ve definitely lost my mind it seems.
We stay like that for a moment or two waiting for an opening to slip away I’m guessing until one of Imen’s boys comes around the corner.
I feel my stomach drop knowing this is only going to end badly.
He lets out a gasp when the flesh of whatever the monster was eating falls in front of him. The creature makes a sound, turning to face us, clearly earring the boy.
“Extremely..bad..timing.” Riddick says slowly, easing out just enough for the boy to see him.
I knew I was blanked in darkness and Riddick’s body but It didn’t stop my heart from picking up. My gut telling me this was about to go south.
“Just don’t run.” Riddick says, sounding like he was barely moving his mouth.
“Riddick?” Carylon says, hearing his voice.
“Don’t. Stop. Burning.” He answers her, him standing perfectly still.
I matched him, realizing he figured out something about these things. They could only see you when you moved.
Hearing the crate behind us move and creak as a creature climbs onto it I ease closer to Riddick. Pressing myself into him, not wanting to be close enough for that thing to sneak up and grab me.
Both of us look up watching the creature's claws grow. Riddick’s large hand reaches back finding my hip, him easing us sideways into the shadows once more. His hand doesn't leave my body once we are locked in place again.
I watch the claw snap out at the boy making him jump and take off running. The creature flying after him. Another creature killed him, and the two began to fight.
I gasp when Riddick grabs my shirt pulling me after him as he starts to run, letting go as soon as he knows I'm right on his heels.
We book it towards the group, the light in the distance. Hearing us coming the group turns, shining their lights at us, at Riddick. I hear him yell and watch as he falls over holding his face, but it’s not in time enough for me to trip and fall on him. Making him grunt. The creature flying over us right towards the others.
It screeches flying off as Johns starts shooting at it.
“I’m sorry.” I say, moving to get off him. Riddick pushes himself up standing next to me.
Everyone screams as the monster falls from the ceiling, all of them huddling around it. I stay back not wanting to be anywhere near the thing.
“Is it alive?” Carylon whispers.
“I hope so.” I answered her, the sound of sizzling filling the air.
“It’s like the light is scalding it.” Paris says as the flashlight moves over its dead body.
“It hurts them. The light hurts them.” She says.
Hearing more noises Iman calls for his child.
I looked at the floor knowing the kid was not going to answer.
“We’ll burn a candle for him later.” Johns says, making me want to throw something at him.
“Come on, let's get out of here.” He says turning to head back to kick open the next door way.

Party Gone Wrong
Tumblr media
This is part 5 of The Bet my old Draco Malfoy Fic that I'm bringing back. This is not following the books or movies it's just me having fun. :) I hope you like it. Let me know what you think and if you wanna be tagged.
Draco Malfoy X Reader
Fic Summery: Draco bets reader she can't make him fall for her.
Part Summery: Reader goes to a party and gets in an interesting situation with Draco.
Warnings: Maybe a word or something not for sure.
Let me know if you want to be tagged in something.
Part 1 Part 4
The next few weeks were not what I would call normal. Well school was normal but other than that my life at Hogwarts was strange.
Everytime I walked through the halls I somehow always bumped into Draco or him bumping into me. Whenever I was in class when I looked up I would find his blue eyes staring at me.
I’m sure to others it looked threatening or like he was glaring at me but I knew the truth.
He was waiting for me to win him over. To do something that would give him a reason to like a mud blood.
I was in the middle of trying to enjoy lunch while catching secret glances with Draco. He was talking to Pansy but he wasn’t looking at her.
I stick my tongue out at him, earning a wink back that makes me giggle.
“Hey Y/N!” one of the twins says sitting next to me, followed by the other one.
“Umm yes?” I say making myself turn and face them.
“You wanna come to another party tonight?”
“Umm sure.”
“Okay great but bring a date.”
“A date?”
“Yeah we are going to be playing games and we want it to be about even for couples.”
“And who am I meant to invite?” I ask.
“The only boys I know are your brother and Harry and one of them is not speaking to me.”
“Oh you can’t invite them, they already have dates.”
“Can I come by myself?”
“No. See you tonight.” They say at the same time and stand up leaving me alone.
“Thanks.” I say after them.
I spent the rest of the day as normal as it could be. I was heading back to my room when I was approached by Neville.
“Umm hi.” He says, stopping me in the hallway.
“Hello.” I say smiling at him.
“Are you going to the party tonight?”
“I was but apparently you can’t go alone.”
“You don’t have a date?” He asks, looking at me from looking at the floor.
“No one I wanted to ask.” I say Draco’s face comes to mind but that was a big no no.
“So umm would you like to go with me?” He asks, blushing.
“Sure.” I say smiling at him.
“Really?”
“Yeah, you're a nice person. I wouldn’t mind spending a night with you.”
“Thanks Y/N.” He says blushing.
“No problem.”
‘I’ll umm meet you in the courtyard after dinner.”
“Sure.” I say smiling at him.
With a read race he quickly scurries off making me laugh. I walk into my room with a new plan in mind.
I was going to get dressed in normal clothes but halfway through I couldn’t help but wonder if Draco would be there. I blush at the thought,  hating now I was starting to look forward to seeing him.
Chewing my lip I looked at my clothes laid on the bed and decided to change plans. I wasn’t going to dress up for anyone. But this was a game right? I was meant to make him break down and fall for me.
I have to stop the twisted smile on my face wondering if maybe I should have been in Slytherin.
Giggling, I shrug and start to get dressed.
I didn’t have much time so I settled for ripped jeans, a tight t-shirt that showed off just the right amount of chest and some converse.
I penned my hair up in a clip leaving a bit out to frame my face and put on natural makeup except for my winged liner.
I winked at myself in the mirror, scratched my cat Hallow’s head and skipped out the door wondering what kind of trouble I could get into tonight.
Bouncing down the steps I was shocked to find Neville waiting for me by the fireplace. Him blushing when he saw me.
“Wow, you look great.”
“Aww thank you.” I say, smiling my head falling to the right.
“Are you ready to go? Harry and Ron already left.”
“Of course they did. Those two are gonna get each other into a lot of trouble one of these days.”
“Haven’t they already?” He asks, as we start walking out into the hallway.
“Yeah, they seem to every year.” I say, smiling at the thought of their antics.
Neville laughs nervously the rest of the walk to the party filled with easy small talk.
When we get to the party it’s in full swing. The twins were vetting people before they came inside. They also hand everyone a drink as soon as they come in.
“What is this?” I ask, looking at the shot. Whatever it was, the liquid moved inside it.
“A little of this.” One twin said.
“And a little of that.” The other one said.
“Will it make me forget tonight or do anything against my will?”
“No!” They both say looking shocked I would even ask.
“Fine. Bottoms up boys.” I say living the shot to them then knocking it back.
A sweet taste filling my mouth and running smoothly down my throat. It makes a warm feeling settle through my body.
“Great you have fun tonight.”
“Always.” I say winking at them and walking into the crowd of people. Neville right on my heels.
“Are you okay?” He asks me over the music.
“Yeah, why?” I ask, looking at him. Noticing how flushed his cheeks were.
“Your face is really red.”
“Yours too. Must be the drink.” I say shrugging, as the music grows louder.
“Yeah I’ll get you a drink.” He says, smiling, walking into the crowd.
I smile after him, Neville always seeming so sweet and cute.
“You came with Longbottom?” A familiar voice says, making me look up over my shoulder to see Draco standing there, drink in hand. A glare on his face.
His cheeks are just as red as apparently everyone else's.
“You like his bottom?” I ask, acting like I couldn’t hear him. Draco looked shocked and then angry at my question.
I giggle, it dies as soon as Pansy steps from behind him.
“Aww did you have to pay someone to come with you?” She smirks at me.
“No, if I ever do that I’ll be sure to ask you for tips.” I say, not surprised when she tries to step towards me. Draco stopped her.
“Gotta go. Tootles.” I say, getting ready to leave them two alone until warm lights flood the room. The twins climb onto a table getting everyone's attention.
“Ladies and gentlemen. Thank you all for coming.” They say in unison.
“We can’t wait to start the games we have planned tonight.” They say making me roll my eyes at their dramatic flare.
“We hope you all came here with someone you liked because-.” They say looking at each other smirking.
“They are the one you will be staying with tonight.” They say clapping their hands on the word tonight.
The weight of something around my wrist makes me look down seeing a band wrapped around my wrist.
It was thin, gold and silver weaving around each other. It was kinda like a bangle only it had a chain attached. The chain only being six inches or so. The other end of the chain was connected to none other than Draco Malfoy.
“You’ve got to be kidding me.” I say the sound of voices murmuring through the room.
“Now now everyone, the overall game is simple. Play our games or tasks and win to gain keys. The more keys the more links on your chain. Once it reaches three feet the spell brakes. The last couple stuck together loses. Or wins.” The twins say bouncing between each other talking.
I sigh, looking at Draco then at them.
“I’m gonna kill ‘em.” I say, hearing a huff.
“This makes no sense. You two didn’t come together.” Pansy says.
“Clearly not. That’s the point. Whoever you were standing close to is who you are stuck with. I’m just glad it wasn’t you.” I say glaring at her.
“Now first task. Hold hands with your partner.” One of the twins says grinning.
Once again the mix of voices fill the room but soon people start holding hands, a soft popping sound being heard as another link adds to their chains.
“This is ridiculous.” Pansy says, grabbing her partner's hand. Some hufflepuff kid that looks terrified and maybe excited to be stuck with her.
Sighing I reach for Draco’s hand, him snatching it away from me only jerking my wrist up following his movements.
“What are you doing? I’m not holding hands with a filthy mudblood.” He spits at me.
“Well I hate to tell you it’s either do that or be stuck with me all night. Who knows maybe the rest of the year. George and Fred happen to enjoy these kinds of pranks.”
“Fine.” He glares.
“But don’t get any ideas.” He says slowly lowering his hand.
“I wouldn't dream of it, big boy.” I say, taking his hand in mine. A soft pop is heard, another link being added to our cuffs. The cuff grows half an inch. Each link is only that long.
‘Oh joy.’ I think, wondering how long I was going to be stuck with him at this rate.
I look at the crowd of people, some of them still holding hands others not telling me I could let go.
I open my grip, expecting my hand to fall but I’m stopped when Draco’s fingers lace with mine. I look up at him, but find him staring straight ahead like he has no idea what he just did.
“Who are you and what have you done with Draco Malfoy?” I whisper under my breath.
“Shut it.” He whispers back, making me blush.
I clench my jaw hoping he didn’t notice that it would look no different than my cheeks have all night.
Another round of pops fills the room as all the couples who let go of each other gain two links on their cuffs.
I can feel the smirk on my face from Draco making me glare up at him.
“Shut up.” I say sticking my tongue out at him, a cocky smile settling on his lips.
“Enjoy the party. We will give you your next task shortly.” The twins say disappearing.
“Oh my gosh really? That’s not fair!” Pansy says loudly.
“That’s my ear.” I say holding the ear she just screamed in.
“I’m going to find those two and-.” She mumbles going off into the crowd.
“She’ll never find them.” I say, more to myself than anyone.
“Lucky me.” Draco says, sounding annoyed.
“Well if you didn’t want to get stuck with me. Maybe you shouldn’t have been invading my space.” I say back at him.
He looks shocked for a second then sighs.
“Whatever.” He says, his forehead wrinkling up.
“I need a drink.” I sigh.
“Come on.” He says pulling me with him.
“Where are we going?” I say, having no choice but to follow him. I could drop our hands but I wasn’t about to lose two links.
“To get you a drink.” He says, not looking back at me.
“Okay?” I question, wondering why he was being nice.
I’m surprised to see the twins at the punch bowl chatting with a few other people. Neither of them have holding hand buddies. But no one around them seemed to mind.
“Ah, look who it is.” Fred I think says meeting my gaze.
“Shush.” I say, them snickering at my partner.
“I should have never come here tonight.” I say grabbing a cup to pour myself some punch.
“But you did.” Fred says.
“Now you're here.” George says, smirking.
“You two are both idiots.” Draco snaps.
“Calm down anger management.” I snap at him, elbowing him in the side.
“Only I can be me to my friends thank you.” I glare at him.
“Ahh enemies to lovers.” The twins say, nodding to each other.
“We can see it.” Fred says.
“We can.” George says.
“Why do you two have to talk in riddles?” I ask, looking at both of them.
They both shrug and grinning.
“Can we get our next task or whatever over with so I can go to bed?” I ask, not wanting to be here now that I was stuck to Draco all night.
Yes I wanted to win the bet and toy with him a bit but I didn’t want to be attached to him.
“Sure.”
“Whatever you say.” They say, disappearing.
“How do you stand them two?” Draco asks.
“They are funny.” I say shrugging trying to pour me a drink.
“Here.” Draco says holding my cup so it doesn't move then handing it to me.
“Thanks.” I say, taking it off the table and taking a drink.
“I’m surprised you would drink that. After the shot at the door.”
I shrug again.
“I’m already here. No point in worrying about it now.” I say, shifting my weight onto my left hip, making me bump shoulders with him.
“Sorry.” I say straightening back up.
He doesn't answer me. The twins appeared once again in the middle of the room.
“Alright everyone, next task. Show us your favorite couples pose. You have five minutes to decide. Choose wisely you’ll be like this for an hour.” They say, looking directly at me. A devilish grin on their faces.
I clench my jaw wishing I would have brought my wand to curse them.
Voices and music fills the room as people work everything out. Laughs mix in them, seeming to enjoy themselves.
“Oh my gosh come on.” I say dragging him with me.
I don’t give him time to respond as I walk towards the group of couches and chairs.
“I’m not standing for an hour.” I say to him watching the seats get filled up as others get the same idea as me.
Seeing a large chaise I rush towards it getting to it before anyone else.
“Sit.” I say looking at Draco, him looking me up and down.
“Please.” I say through gritted teeth.
“All you had to do was ask.” He says sitting down, our hands separating. It was clear that wasn’t the game we were trying to win anymore.
I watch Draco sit, him leaning back. I knock his legs apart as I climb onto the soft cushion, turn around and plant myself between his legs just as our timer goes off.
