Boys from books have definitely set my standards way too high, and this poem is so lovely and so relatable

A poem I made because I wish boys in real life treated me as well as boys do in books.

The boys in the movies,

Boys in the books,

You’re all mendacious fantasies,

We tend to overlook.

Those in real life,

Can still pull me in.

They dissolve my dreams

God, what a sin.

You set the bar so high,

Showed me everything I wanted.

The realization of your deceit kicks in,

I never wanted to be taunted.

Like this,

No I certainly did not.

I will go to the bookstore,

And return all that I bought.

Still you liars come with ease.

When I’m trying to sleep.

You pretend to be kind,

But all you do is make me weep.

To be fair,

It’s really not your fault.

I just wish they could have been you,

But love is not something they have been taught.

You were beautiful, incredible,

Everything of the sort.

But with this painful point of view,

My memories of you will begin to wart.

Can’t I have it back?

When I wasn’t so vulnerable.

Even when it was bad,

At least my life was a bit more tolerable.

So maybe I’ll read your stories,

From time and time again.

But hopefully the boys in my life,

Won’t cause me so much pain.

Headcanon: Elisa’s hair 💇🏽‍♀️

So, coming from a girl who had waist length hair for nearly most of my elementary year, I can understand the struggles that come with having such long locks. Often hard to brush, gets caught in everything, updos being a hassle, etc. However, the point I what to draw attention to the most is the problem with wind. Goodness, I cannot tell you how hard enough it is with shorter hair, but long hair is a whole different story.

Elisa always wears her hair the same (save when she dressed up for Halloween) which means it’s always down, even when she’s up in the air with the gargoyles. So, please consider that while Goliath is carrying her, her hair is just whipping around crazily, which not only blinds her (and sometimes Goliath) but leaves her with her hair looking like a tumbleweed as they finally land.

At first, she decided not to be too bothered by it because hey, first time meeting a gargoyle and she didn’t consider hair ties for when said gargoyle would carry her and fly. So, she decides to overlook it. The second time, she’s over here with pieces of it flying in her eyes like , okay, not expecting this again, but we can work with this. The third time, however, she’s practically choking on her hair as the wind repeatedly flings it back in her face and Goliath is just politely keeping quiet even though his vision is partially covered too.

So she finally uses hair ties, which do help a bit. However, she doesn’t always remember to bring them. She’s a police detective with a questionable sleep schedule, she’s bound to forget something in the morning

And so, my friends, I introduce this concept which makes Goliath the perfect gentlemen/boyfriend material he already is. Consider, Goliath carrying around hair ties so Elisa will have something for her hair.

He’ll find them strewn in random places around the clock tower from when she brought some and forgot, and whenever he finds one he just slips it on his wrist. He soon starts layering them and it looks like he’s wearing a thick bracelet, but it’s actually just a plethora of hair ties he found laying around 😂

A time comes when they have to take off in the air again, and Elisa goes to Goliath with a pinched look on her face, holding a handful of hair, then her face just morphs into a look of surprise as he pulls off a tie from his wrist and offers it to her.

“I noticed you kept forgetting these, and I thought, it would best if we could both see clearly tonight.”

The hair tie is absolutely stretched out because his wrist is obviously larger than hers, but it was just so sweet of him and she’s not tearing up about it at all. She has to wrap it around more times than usual but she certainly isn’t complaining.

Of course, the trio find out and are just fawning and teasing about the whole ordeal, meanwhile Hudson just looks on with a knowing smile.
