i know i’ve been negativeposting lately lol i’m actually doing really well though. i changed a lot and i’m very happy with my life right now

sucks to have one of your parents who all you wanted when you were younger was for them to be genuinely interested in you and your life but they never were and now that they’re trying, you have to be the one to set boundaries and say “no, i don’t want to talk to you about that”

crazy to see how parents are doing the elf on the shelf thing. it was weird from the start anyway to acclimate children to 24/7 surveillance + threat of punishment but recently it seems like more and more people are being needlessly cruel with it? like “pranking” their children like “omg the elf threw away your stuff!! the elf cut up your clothes while you were asleep!!!” like what is this teaching them anyway? you’ve got to be on good behavior for this all-knowing creature in our house but also the all-knowing creature isn’t even on good behavior and we think it’s cute and funny that it makes you cry with its pranks. hope this doesn’t confuse you on what constitutes good behavior!

#the clothes cutting isn’t an exaggeration done for comedic purposes i saw a video of a child in cut up clothing and she literally wailed #sorry but elf on the shelf is so creepy and weird. children i know who have the elf start behaving so anxiously #it just seems like unnecessary fear and the only person who seems to have fun is the parent :/

i can’t stand to see a single video of children even slightly misbehaving or even just looking upset for something that might even be reasonable or even just existing on the internet. first bc i don’t think people should be filming + exploiting their children on the internet and second bc i just know if i open those comments there’ll be like thousands of random strangers encouraging the caregiver who posted the video to beat their 3 yr old for crying or even fantasizing themselves beating a strangers child

#one of the key ways you can tell the punishment is actually meant to soothe the adult’s anger instead of help the child #(not like it would help even if it was meant to) is that the majority of the comments are ‘if that were me / my kid’ statements #that’s not even ur kid? and yet seeing the behavior from a distance is enough to inspire an abuse fantasy

It has been hard for me to talk about how what is going on with Israel and Palestine is affecting me personally, but I grew up in Gaza and most of my family still lives there. My father did not survive the bombings last week and I have not been able to contact my younger sister in days. I am try to being understanding that most people do not have personal connections to what is happening and therefore are justifying their silence, but is heartbreaking to see this misinformation being spread. What’s happening there is a genocide, not a war. It is not antisemitic to support Palestine, it’s not even antiemetic to criticise Israel. There is no grey area or neutrality regarding this, and it is so easy to find resources that will educate you on the subject. It is my people and my home being destroyed so I will never be silent about this, but I please urge everyone to get informed and start speaking up and finding ways they can help.

every time i see a random advice post for job interviews made by someone in the know they always say shit like “when the interviewer says ‘hi how are you,’ it’s not just them being polite. it is actually a TRICK and if you don’t say ‘i’m feeling so grateful to be considered for your company, i’m so ready to get back to the 9 to 5!!!’ they won’t consider you a good candidate”
