I’m thinking of doing the Cromwell sweater. I don’t know the color yet - I was thinking of doing it in Moonstone but everyone bought it out from under me. I need to dye up some DK - maybe Lost Girls of Paris, maybe Lost Words ....

I’m going back and forth but I think my very next cast on will either be the Habitation Throw in minis or (and more likely) it will be a wrap sweater for the Luna Lapin ladies in Eleutheromania and Opera Saturday from a year or two ago.

My vote is for the Brumbies — the feral horses in Australia. Horses first came to Australia in 1788 with the First Fleet. Over the years, some horses escaped their owners and became feral. Currently, there are over 400,000 horses running wild on the continent.
One positive way they are being used is in Brumby Training Camps where troubled, high risk youths are given the opportunity over several weeks to train a wild Brumby to become a quiet saddle horse which improves their own self esteem.

Wolves are the nemesis to ranchers in the west and are in need of a PR makeover. These beautifully wild creatures may not be friends to humans and livestock but deserve to exist on this earth with their pack. The good news is, their population is on the rise in Wyoming and Montana after several years of decline.

When I was really little a gorilla showed up at our house. Nobody knows where it came from and his origins could not be traced back to any gift from a friend or family member. The only explanation was that he was ‘lifted’ by me from either a store or other location. I loved this gorilla...his name was Bobo and my parents referred to him as “Bobo the ‘hot’ monkey”.

Helen’s Daily Prompt 138
Often associated with death and decay, crows are actually highly intelligent and important to the ecosystem. They are smart enough to not only hold a grudge against humans that are mean to them but teach other crows to also be wary of that human.

Writing Prompt Day 138 - today is national bat appreciation day. Bats have gotten a bad rap in the past. Give us another maligned creature that you think deserves a new PR person to help re-craft his image.

Mary Beth #136 - I’m not sure, I want that in writing so I’ll tell of a time when something was taken from me. My first car that was all mine was a 1988 Mustang - red. One afternoon, when I was at my younger brother’s basketball game, my car was stolen from the church parking lot. The police found it in Newark, about 25 miles away, where the thief had driven it entirely in first gear. The insurance company covered the repairs but I was without a car for about 3 weeks and had to rely on others driving me places, including graduate school which was over an hour away.

Helen’s Daily Prompt 136
Oh this is an interesting one. We were little kleptos when we were kids. One of our stupider moves was when we stole some of my mom’s cigarettes and went and “smoked” them behind the old barn. I believe we were standing shin deep in dry fall leaves. We were bright kids. In spite of that, nothing caught fire. I passed out and then we went back inside reeking of cigarettes thinking we had gotten away with it. I’m not sure what happened as punishment, I just remember thinking we were so smart that denying everything would make them believe us. As I said, bright.

It’s Tax Day...and according to Ron Swanson taxation is theft! Talk about a time when you stole something or if you’ve NEVER stolen anything (even from a sibling) you can tell a story about a time when something was stolen from you.

Mary Beth #135 - Given my love of puzzles, having Mysteries as my favorite genre is no surprise. I started with the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew and moved on to Agatha Christie. I love a good John Grisham or JD Robb. I like being surprised at the end but I hate if they pull someone out of the blue that isn’t a likely suspect right at the end. Christie is still the master, in my opinion!

My favorite genre is probably Historical Fiction...it’s what I read the most. I love stories that have unexpected settings where I have the opportunity to look up facts and learn something. I love turn of the century America, Asian culture and South America as settings for novels. My least favorite, perhaps because I think it’s been ‘over done’, is WWII.

I enjoy a lot of genres but fiction is what I read the most. I think my favorite is magical realism. I want to believe what I’m reading is possible if you look at the world just the right way.
