Hi there 👋🏻
Today I did a simple little exercise to use up left over paint on my pallette. I’ll admit I was having some fun with the background that I brought in the Dr PH Martin liquid watercolour paints. Hand drew the outline 🤸‍♀️
Pinterest inspired.
What do you think?

I found the original to this on Pinterest, with the artists permission Asara Design, I have been allowed to replicate and post it.
I’m not a flower person (yet) but wanted to work on this for the stems in the water, glass , distortion and shadows. I really enjoyed this one.

When sea meets sky.
I gave Susan Hay Curtis tutorial a try this morning but opted for sunnier weather. Proportion of the boat may be a bit off and the paper was reluctant to take water or paint in the area on the reflection of the boat. Really can’t wait to be finished with the Strathmore 400 paper.

Okay so my lines may be off, my technique is different in places but I’m happy with the end result.
Original photo found on Pinterest with no identifying artist marks.
This taught me patience, and I had only the slightest issues with the Strathmore paper.

I must be in a bird mood 😊
Pinterest inspired photo with no known artist and the visit link on Pinterest takes one to Beautiful Pillows on Amazon. After scrolling through and even changing the look up to duck pillows I was unable to find it for sale 🤷🏼‍♀️
I’ve been painting since September, 6 months, with no previous art experience.
I used my Daniel Smith tube paints (red, blue and yellow) and Colorex liquid paints. This is in my Strathmore 140lb cold press art journal.
Any CC would be appreciated!

Hey there 👋
I found the original photo by Denise Laurent Art, with her permission I was able to reproduce her work the “blue hen”.
I’ve been painting since September a whole 6 months! I have no previous art experience.
This is in my Strathmore Art Journal which has 140 lb cold press paper. The paint is left over on my palette consisting of mostly Colorex liquid watercolour paints. The comb on the hen could be a bit more relaxed but in the end I am happy with it. 😊
Any CC would be welcome! A good tool for learning!

Well this is what I have been working on over the last few days. Why days you wonder? Well days because of the Strathmore paper I was using. It’s the same paper I have been using since I began painting in September, a good beginners paper but once you start getting into layering and wet on wet it begins to degrade pretty quickly. Now silly me I went and invested in quite a bit of this paper pre lockdown, so I will just persevere till I can buy more. I know it won’t be Arches as I am too practical for that and I have Fluid 100% cotton that I’ve used and really liked.
This was basically a 2 colour painting Ultramarine and Burnt Sienna. The palest yellow was used as the base layer of the iris ( yellow will enhance browns) and the yellow ochre was used for the under painting or the lightest colour that will be seen underneath textures and fur or anywhere that would be brown, grey or black.
Tutorial by Rebecca Rhodes.

Pinterest inspired.
This was just in my art journal. I didn’t think I’d put as much detail as I ended up doing.

I painted this on Valentine’s Day. I was missing the usual anticipation of a spring vacation to Jamaica.
So I thought if I can’t travel I might as well paint it.
My Original art on Strathmore 140lb paper that didn’t want to accept the paint! Especially noticeable on the flamingo with its back showing. All that medium tone is not intentional. Some degrading occurred as well. Time to look for better paper but not the expensive Arches.

Added this little guy to my art journal today.
I’ve been painting since September with no previous art experience.
I added Winsor Newton Prussian blue to my palette, the remaining colours were left overs. The journal has Strathmore 140lb. cold press paper and I started to see some paper degrading with the wet on wet technique.
I have received enough advice to start looking for 100% cotton paper. Thanks all for that advice 😊

I have been painting since September with no previous art experience.
I used Dr Ph Martin liquid paints on Strathmore cold press 140lb. Paper. I was a bit disappointed with the paper today as it started degrading in one spot. If you look closely you can see it, and the frustrating part was it wasn’t even in an area I was spending more time on.
Does anyone have any input regarding the paper? and as well CC always welcomed!

Loved this Paul Clark tutorial!
I was carried away right at the start and ended up covering most of my outline, especially in the eye area. I think I salvaged it well enough. This tutorial had it all wet on wet, wet on dry, salt, spraying water to keep the paint moving, using the tip of a brush handle to create forefront detail, using a blade to etch detail!
Fun, fun, fun!
I will be trying this again but bigger, today’s painting is 5x5”ish and in my art journal.

My third painting of hands around a coffee cup and I am sure my last. For some reason had more difficulty with the skin, likely because there was so much more then the last 2.
Would appreciate any CC on the skin.

I had thought I would only do the three but I found a fox tutorial that I want to try and then I’ll move on 😊

My second fox.
I was very reluctant to paint this one because I didn’t know if I could get the face right. Overall I am pleased with the end result.
I am more bothered by the lines of my first attempt drawing this fox, then my actual work so I guess it’s all good 😌
One more fox to go, it’s in my head I just have to draw it out then sit on it for a couple of days getting the courage to paint it.
CC always welcome 😊

I imagine he’s basking in the sun.
I’ve started on a second fox and have plans for a third. Hopefully that will be that 😆
