Mage: Chapter 85- Facility A2X
Written By 50Funny
Part 1- Watching The Facility
Alex and 5 stood in the forest hiding behind the large trees as they scanned the small, rundown facility that sat in the clearing in front of them. The sun began to rise over the hills in the distance, bathing the forest in dim orange light. The occasional guard roamed around the outskirt of the facility before disappearing back inside the building.
“So this is it? it doesn’t really look like a big government facility,” said Alex.
“This is definitely the place, I can detect 9 and 7 presence. Their deep underground somewhere so I'm guess this building is just an entrence to the main facility underground.” 5 replied.
“Well if you sense it then it's probably the spot… even still though,” Alex said as he glanced over his shoulder at the man tied to the tree behind them with a gag in his mouth. “Id like to get a bit more intel on whatever this place is before we go charging headfirst into it.”
5 turned around to look at their prisoner before glancing back at Alex.
“Really huh? You always struck me as the act first ask question latter kind of guy.”
“Huh yeah well I guess I kind of used to be, but right now I’m not looking to take any risks that might get me killed.”
“Well works for me, I'm not really in the dying mood either.”
The pair both walked towards the tied up man. Panic began to build in his eyes and his muffled screams grew as they drew closer. 5 leaned in close to the man causing his muffled screams to become deep breaths.
“If you don’t want to die I suggest you don’t try anything funny ok,” 5 threatened.
The man quickly nodded in agreement. 5 reached out to the piece of tape gagging the man and forcefully ripped it off leaving the man's lips a bright red color. The prisoner continued to let out pathetic whimpers and grunts as he waited for his orders.
“Now what is this place? why have people guarding some building in the middle of nowhere,” Alex said.
“Th… this is the main government building, it's where the president and the other government officials come and meet to run the country,” The man blurted out.
“This place? Doesn’t really look like all that, you better not be lying to us.”
“No, i…I promise that I'm not lying. That building over there is just a front, inside is an elevator leading into the underground facility. There is only one elevator leading up and down and its use is heavily regulated so you won't be able to get in. And even if you do manage to get inside there’s no way that you’ll be able to get through all the guard…”
5 placed the strip of tape back across the mans lips silencing him once again.
“Don’t worry about that… I'm sure we will manage just fine. Now you sit tight here and try not to draw too much attention to yourself ok.”
Alex and 5 turned around and walked back to their original position behind the trees.
“So what do you think we should do?” asked Alex.
“If this really is their main government building like he said then this couldn’t have worked out any better,” 5 replied.
Alex turned to look at 5 with confusion.
“Let me explain… if we can take down this place then we can take down their entire chain of command and if we’re lucky we might even be able to take down their entire government body in one blow. With my power, I can place bombs that will remain completely invisible until I activate them, at my best I can plant around a hundred bombs before I start to run out of magic. If we can get inside and I can plant my bombs in as many places as possible then we can destroy the entire facility as well as saving 7 and 9.”
“hmmm… you’re right this does sound like a bit of a golden opportunity when you put it like that, the only problem is getting inside and staying inside undetected.”
“I’m sure we’ll be able to manage, for now, let's just get inside and take a closer look at that elevator.”
5 did a quick look around to make sure there were no guards patrolling past before quickly jumping out from behind cover and sprinting towards the building followed behind shortly after by Alex.
Part 2- A Meeting With The Resistance
Liz walked down the long corridor with Tia on her arm helping him walk. They were followed behind by 10, Bip, and Dr Rico.
“Are you sure you are up for this? I mean you can barely even walk, maybe you should just go back and lye down,” Liz said to Tia.
“Don’t worry about me… we haven’t got much time and definitely no time to lye down,” Tia responded.
The group reached a door at the end of the hallway. Tia pulled himself away from Liz and limped towards the door. He grabbed the handle of the door and propped himself against the wall.
“Ok, the rest of the council is behind this door.”
“Well I think you should be from here, I have other patients to take care of so ill leave you to it,” Dr. Rico said as he waved and turned around to walk back down the corridor.
“Oh, but what if I get a boo boo, who will kiss it better and tell me I'm a good boy,” Tia replied sarcastically.
“You’re a very good boy, now go do your job.”
Tia turned the door handle and pushed the door open flooding the dimly lit room with three people all sitting around a table. They all looked over to the group as they filed into the room one by one lead by Tia.
“Ahh Tia, you’re finally done lounging about are you,” one of the men at the table said as he looked at the rest of the people filing into the room. “Who are these guys.”
“You remember Liz right, she was the one who we helped get out of the country, these are her two friends ten and Bip,” Tia explained.
“It’s good to meet all of you,” said Bip.
“Ahh… its 10,” 10 said shyly.
“I remember her… but what is she doing back here, didn’t we risk everything just to get her out,” another person at the table said.
The group walked up to the table and took a place at it.
“I think ill let her explain that,” Tia said.
The group all turned to look at Liz making her slightly nervous as they waited for her to explain.
Part 3- Facility A2X
5 and Alex hid behind a crate in the small run-down building. The building was filled with barrels crates and palets scattered all around the place made out of rotting wood. In the far corner of the room was a large metal tube with a door tightly clamped shut and some buttons on the side. A digital panel sat above the door with a number on it that slowly increased. The number reached 200 hundred before stopping it count. A loud ding sounded out and the door began to pull open. A man dressed in a suit and tie and carrying a briefcase exited the elevator with two armed guards on either side of him. They walked out of the building leaving Alex and 5 alone once again. Ale turned to look at 5.
“So what’s the plan here,” asked Alex as the doors to the elevator close tightly once again.
“Well like that guy outside said the elevators use is probably heavily regulated so if we try and use it we’ll be caught instantly.”
“Sooo…”
“So I say we catch a ride down with the next guy to go down.”
“That could work… but they're bound to have cameras in there, even if we can get in the elevator we’ll be caught.”
“Who said we ‘re gonna use the elevator.”
Alex looked at 5 with confusion. The two guards walked back into the room and over to the elevator cutting Alex and 5 conversations short. They pressed a button on the side of the elevator causing the doors to pull back open. The pair entered the elevator and pressed some more buttons causing the doors to close once again.
“Come on let's go,” 5 said as she jumped to action.
She quickly reached the door before it had the chance to fully close. Alex followed in her path quickly arriving next to her at the door. Her face turned red as she pulled against the closing door forcing it further and further open until it was completely open. The pair looked at the long elevator shaft leading deep down into the earth seemingly endlessly. The elevator made its way down the shaft. A large heavy-duty metal cord leads down the shaft lowering the elevator pod down.
“Ok jump… we’re gonna ride that word all the way down to their base,” 5 said.
“Wait… are you insane?”
“No now hurry up these doors are heavy.”
“But we have no idea how deep this thing goes… and if that elevator comes back up while we’re in there then we’ll get crushed.”
5 let out an irritated sigh.
“Ok that’s fair enough, but counterpoint.”
Without warning, 5 raised her leg up and kicked Alex in the back pushing him forward and sending him falling down the shaft. She took in a deep breath before quickly in one movement letting go of the doors and jumping down the shaft as well letting the doors slam closed behind them.

Mage: Chapter 84- Gathering Intel (Part 2
Written By 50Funny
Part 1- The Crumbling Resistance
Liz , Bip, and 10 walked down a long corridor following in the footsteps of Dr. Rico. The corridor was lined with injured resistance members.
“Holy shit they really did a number on you guys didn’t they,” Liz said.
“They hit us in the middle of the night. I have no clue how they found us but I guess they must have followed us back from when our forces left the outpost at the border. They didn’t give us any warning, they just started opening fire on us. We didn’t have time to get ourselves armed and fight back so we just ran. We all scattered through the tunnels so that they couldn’t follow us as easily. Everyone knew to make their way here if anything happened so for the past few days we’ve been having more and more survivors show up,” Doctor Rico explained.
“Well, at least some of you made it. But what happened to Tia.”
“We’re almost there, ill let you see for yourselves.”
The group continued to walk down the corridor. Dr. Rico turned towards one of the doors on the side of the corridor. He reached out to the handle and twisted it. He pushed the door open and entered the room followed by the rest of the group. Liz stopped in her tracks as she entered the room and looked on in horror at what she saw inside. In the center of the room was a bed stained with blood and with Tia laying motionless with his eyes closed in it. His torso was completely covered in bandages with several splotches of blood staining them. He was hooked up to a plethora of machines.
“Oh my god… wh… what the hell happened to him,” Liz stammered.
“While everyone else was fleeing, he decided to grab a weapon and cover our escape. It's thanks to him that as many of us escaped as we did. But even he cant stand up to the entire military by himself. I don’t know exactly what happened but he showed up here a few days after the rest of us packed full of bullets and barely able to stand. In his condition I have no clue how he was able to get himself here,” the Doctor explained.
“Is he… well you know…” Bip muttered.
“I’m not dead if that’s what you’re wondering,” came a voice from the bed. The group all looked down to see Tia slowly opening his eyes up. “Liz… well you’re back sooner than I expected,” He continued as he pulled himself up in the bed to a sitting position.
As Tia strained to sit up the Doctor reached out his arms to help him.
“Don’t push it… you’re still in pretty bad shape, you should just stay lying down for now."
“Ahhh thanks for the concern doc but I think ill be fine. Anyway, what are you doing back so soon Liz?”
“You almost sound disappointed to see me,” Liz said sarcastically.” We’re here to gather as much intel as we can before we launch an all-out attack. We’re just a small part of a larger group, the rest of us are in and around the capital right now. Oh yeah, this is 10 and Bip by the way.
“It’s nice to meet you,” said Bip.
“Same goes for you, So your government is finally making a move huh? Took them long enough.”
Tia swung his legs out of bed letting out a loud groan at the pain that it caused him. Dr. Rico once again reached out to try and stop his patient.
“Tia what did I just say, stop trying to put yourself back into a comma.”
“I've rested for too long, I need to get back to work. The council has been dicking about doing nothing in my absence, maybe now with this lot here we can finally start to get stuff done.”
Tia pulled himself out of the bed to a standing position. He tried to take a step forward before tripping up. Liz reached out to grab him before he completely fell. She wrapped his arm around her shoulder to help him stand.
“Huh… thanks for that,” said Tia.
“Come on ill help you walk,” Liz said.
Liz and Tia walked towards the exit followed by the rest of the group.
Part 2- A Long And Pointless Wait
Liz and 5 laid down on the roof in the pitch-black darkness. They had been lying there for hours watching the police station and listening for any useful information. The streets had gone from being packed with hundreds of people to being populated by only the occasional person.
“This place gets real quiet after dark huh,” Alex said.
“I think they have a curfew, if you’re out after dark you need to have a valid reason and a permit to be out,” 5 said.
One of the strange spider-like machines came crawling out of one of the streets and into the main square that the pair watched over. Alex and 5 lowered themselves even further down to keep themselves out of the creature's view. The machine crawled around the square for a moment scanning every nook and cranny it came across for anything suspicious before leaving the area.
“And if you don’t have a reason then I'm guessing those things won't treat you too kindly,” 5 continued.
Alex stood up from his position laying on the ground and stretched out his entire body.
“Well looks like this plan was a total bust, all we actually managed to learn was that Pam in accounting is totally in love with Jim,” Alex joked.
“Yeah, guess we’re out of luck, any ideas for what to do now?” asked 5.
The radio strapped to 5’s belt suddenly started to let out a static sound. She unclipped the radio from her belt and raised it up. Alex walked closer as both of them listened to the static. The static continued to sound out.
“What the hell, is someone sitting on their radio or something,” Alex said in confusion.
The static suddenly cut off being replaced by a subtle hum. After a few seconds, there was a sound like a finger tapping on a wooden table.
“Now what the hell is this?”
5 had a moment of realization as she listened to the tapping. She squatted down and placed the radio on the ground. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a notepad and pen and started listening even more closely to the tapping.
“What are you doing now?” Alex asked his confusion only continuing to grow.
“Its morse code, one of the other teams is sending a message but can't just say it for some reason,” 5 explained.
Alex squatted down in front of 5 and watched as she continued to translate the message. after about thirty seconds of continuous tapping, all sound from the radio cut off. 5 stood back up and started looking over her translation.
“So what does it say?”
“It looks like it’s from 9 and 7… Captured, need help, taken somewhere, guards said Facility A2X,” 5 said reading off of the page.
“So they managed to get themselves captured huh, well that’s just great. Where the hell is Facility A2X?”
“No clue but we have to find it, if those two are in trouble we have to save them… come on maybe we can get more information if we break in the station and look around for ourselves s,” 5 replied.
Alex let out a cocky grin.
“Sounds like a plan to me, after how much of our time they wasted it might be fun to smash up the place a little.”
The pair both moved to the edge of the building and made sure that none of the machines were around before jumping off to the ground and made their way to the station.

Mage: Chapter 83-Gathering Intel
Written By 50Funny
Part 1- Separated (Part 1)
The sun started to rise high above the city skyline, bathing the tall skyscrapers in light. The streets were now packed with thousands of people walking around and going about their business. Alex and 5 Hid out of sight in a dark side street watching all the people pass by. They wore large tattered black rag covering up everything except for their face.
“Thing’s got busy pretty quick,” said 5.
“I know what you mean. Even with these disguises, someone is bound to notice how much we stick out. maybe we should wait till things quiet down a little before we make our move,” Alex suggested.
“We don’t have enough time to just wait around all day, we need to keep moving and find out as much intel as we can.”
Alex raised his hand to his chin as he though on how to get out of their predicament. He looked back down the ally they stood in to see a ladder attached high up on of the walls. Alex walked down the ally to stand underneath the ladder, looking up at it.
“Hey come over here and give me a boost!” Alex yelled.
5 walked over to Alex and looked up at the ladder before kneeling down and placing her hands over her shoulders. Alex awkwardly stepped onto 5’s hands, struggling to keep his balance.
“Wow… you’re a lot heavier then you look.”
“Hey don’t be rude,”
5 swiftly stood up pushing her arms up as she did, sending Alex flying up into the air. As he flew up through the air he passed by the ladder and grabbed hold of it. Alex hung off of the ladder high up against the wall by one arm. He looked down at 5 bellow him.
“Wow, you’re a lot stronger then you look,” Alex said.
“Thanks.”
Alex looked at the side of the ladder seeing a clip on the side stoping it from extending down to the ground. He reached his free arm up to the rusted clip and forced it into the release position. Suddenly the ladder started to extend out with Alex still clinging to the end of it. As he came close to the ground he jumped backwards. The ladder reached the ground as Alex slammed into the opposite wall with a loud thud. He slid down to the ground landing on his ass against the wall.
“Agh crap that hurt,” Alex groaned.
5 walked over to Alex and stood over him before reaching her hand out.
“Smooth move’s there cowboy.”
“Shut up,” Alex replied as he reached out to grab 5’s hand.
5 pulled Alex up to stand next to her. Alex walked over to the ladder and started to climb up followed behind by 5. They reached the top of the ladder and pulled themselves on top of the roof. They both kept themselves as low as possible as they made their way to the edge of the building and laid down on their stomachs. Across the street from there position Alex sore a building that was much shorter than all of the others. Every now and then someone walked out of or into the building dressed in a dark blue uniform with a badge pinned to there chest and a gun clipped into their holster.
“You see that over there,” Alex said raising his hand to point at the building. “I’m guessing that it’s a police station. From what I’ve heard the police and military in Lemia are pretty intertwined. If we listen in from here until the crowd starts to disperse we might be able to gather some pretty good intel.”
“Not bad thinking, so how’s your hearing.”
“I think I can manage.”
Alex and 5 both focused all of there energy into their ears and focused their hearing onto the building. They waited and listened for anything that could be of use to them.
Part 2- Separated (Part 2)
Two arms made out of a light blue energy shot out from 4’s shoulders. They reached out with his two extra arms and wrapped his hand around the head and neck of a soldier. The soldier desperately tried to escape 4’s grasp. In one swift move, 4 cracked the man's neck cutting off his struggle and sending him limply flopping to the ground. He turned to look at Adam who stood above another soldier who cowered on the ground backed up against a large grassy mound. The pair stood in a wide-open field with the city far off in the distance. A road leading from the city ran past them and off into the other direction.
“Now if you don’t want to end up like your friend there then I suggest that you start talking,” Adam threatened.
“P..p… please don’t hurt me… I don’t speak much English… just please let me live,” the man said in a panicked tone.
“If you want to live then start talking, I don’t want to have to hurt you but if it comes to that then I won't hesitate.”
“You’re being too nice,” 4 said as he stomped over to the man.
He picked the man up by his collar and raised him above the mound they hid behind. The soldier turned to look over the mound seeing a large fenced-off area slightly in the distance filled with green tents and small buildings.
“What is that place and what is it’s purpose,” 4 continued as he lowered the man again
“I… It’s a military mechanic outpost, it’s one of the facilities we use to make and repair vehicles for the army… just please don’t hurt me I’m just a mechanic I don’t know much."
“A mechanics outpost huh, I bet they keep some of those machines that Liz was talking about there. If we can take it down it might make things easier further down the line.”
“Sounds like a plan to me. Thanks for the help friend,” 4 said before reaching his other energy arm out to grab the man's head.
“Wait not…. You told me you…”
In one swift move 4 cracked the man's neck cutting off his panicked ranting and sending his body falling limply down to the ground. 4 and Adam both crawled up the large mound giving them cover and laid at the top of it so they could look at the base in the distance.
“So how are we gonna get in there? it’s bound to be pretty heavily guarded and I doubt that they'll just let us stroll in,” 4 said.
Adam looked back down to the two bodies at the base of the mound.
“I doubt those two are gonna be using their uniforms any time soon,” Adam replied.
“That sounds good to me.”
Without warning the radio clipped to Adam's side started to let out a static sound.
“Hey ahhh this is 9, we’ve managed to locate the president's home,” 9’s voice cut through the static. “Me and 7 are gonna sneak in and, figured we should let everyone know before we take that sort of a risk... oh yeah over”
Adam unclipped the radio and held down the button on the side.
“Rodger that. Me and 4 are going to sneak into a military base, we’ll keep you all up to date if anything happens, over and out,” Adam said before clipping the radio back onto his belt.
“Right then let's get moving.”
4 started to crawl back down the mound followed by Adam and started to strip the two soldiers.
Part 3- Separated (Part 3)
Liz, Bip, and 10 sore a large wall at the end of the tunnel with a door in the middle of it. They had been walking all day since they had first woken up and had traveled a long way.
“Finally we’re almost there, I barely got any sleep last night with how early you guys woke me up.”
“Don’t complain, we’ve got a job to do and we can sleep when we’re finished,” Liz replied.
The group reached the door at the end of the tunnel. Liz let out a long deep breath as she readied herself.
“Guess this is it, if they're not here then we’re out of luck,” Liz said.
“We don’t know until we check,” said 10 in a comforting voice.
Liz reached out her hand to the metal door. She curled her hand into a fist and knocked it firmly against the door. Nothing happened after a few seconds. Liz knocked on the door again once again to no avail.
“Hang on a second let me try,” 10 said as he moved in front of the door.
He clenched his hand into a fist and sent it flying towards the door. As he knocked on the door it was sent fling inwards breaking off of the hinges and landing on the ground with a loud metallic thud. 10 turned back around to look at the rest of the group.
“Woops… haha guess I don’t know my own strength.”
“Freeze you three!” came a voice through the doorway.
The group looked through the doorway to see three men pointing their guns at them.
“Put your hand up and walk in here… slowly,” another one of the men yelled.
The group all look at each other somewhat taken aback by their unpleasant greeting. They raised their hands and made their way into the room. on the other side of the door was a large group of people many holding weapons and many more wearing bandages and with broken bones.
“Holy shit, this place seems pretty grim,” Liz muttered.
“I know what you mean, at least we’ve found them,” replied Bip.
One of the guards pointing a gun at the group pushed his gun forward to poke at 10’s fat.
“Looks like we caught ourselves a big fish,” the guard said. “What are we gonna do with them?”
“We should just kill them now and be done with it,” another one of the men said.
“That sounds good to me,” the last man agreed.
“Stop that right now,” came a familiar voice to Liz.
Liz turned her gaze to see an old man with a cane walking towards them and instantly recognized who it was.
“Dr Rico?” Liz said.
“It’s good to see you again Liz, I’m just sorry that it couldn’t be under better terms.”
“Doc you know these guys?”
“Yes, now go point those death sticks somewhere else.”
The men all lowered their arms and saluted to the doctor before walking off.
“It really is good to see you again Liz, If I might ask though why are you here and who are your friends?”
“This is 10 and Bip, we’re all part of the recon team sent here before the main assault begins. Anyway, what happened.”
“Ahh I see so your government is finally making its move. As for what happened I think you can probably piece that together. We were attacked by the military, they wiped out most of our forces but those of us who survived made our way here. That was about a week ago now, we have been trying to work out our next move but haven’t really gotten anywhere, but maybe with you guys here something will finally get done.”
“What do you mean haven’t gotten anywhere, I would have thought Tia would be planning a counter-attack right away.”
The doctor averted his gaze as an uncomfortable expression formed on his face. Liz noticed the expression before taking a step closer to The Doctor.
“Rico… where is Tia?” Liz said.
The silence over the group continued for a moment before Dr Rico finally looked back up to Liz.
“It’s probably best if I just show you… come on follow me.”
Dr Rico walked off. Liz, Bip, and 10 all looked to each other with concern before following after the Doctor.

Mage: Chapter 82- Not According To Plan
Written By 50Funny
Part 1- Hiding In Plain Sight
There was a stillness over the street. Tall buildings the reached high up into the sky stood on either side of the road lit only by the occasional street light that let out a low pitched hum. There was a quite over the empty street as a chilly breeze blew through. One of the manhole covers in the middle of the road began to move slightly. It popped up letting Adam look out onto the street above. He glanced from side to side to make certain that the coast was clear. He let the manhole cover down before looking down to see the rest of the group waiting at the bottom of the ladder leading out of the sewers.
“Looks like the coast is clear, lets get moving before someone come by,” Adam said.
He once again pushed the manhole cover up and slid it off to the side. He climbed out of the hole as the rest of the group made their way up the ladder Alex climbed out of the hole followed behind by 4. 4 took in a deep breath before smiling widely.
“Ahh fresh air, never thought id miss it so much,” 4 said as he stretched his arms out.
Alex walked over to Adam.
“It feels weird to be back here after everything that happened… and so soon after it all to,” Alex said.
“Ha… sounds like someone’s a little bit scared,” Adam chuckled.
“I’m not scared,” Alex replied In a defensive tone.
“Huh well, then that makes one of us. Honestly, after everything that we went through here, it’s foolish to not be at least a little scared.”
5,6 and 9 all exited the hole. As 5 came out she turned back around and slid the cover back over it. the group all gathered together around the manhole.
“So what’s the plan now?” 6 said nervously as he continuously looked over his shoulders.
“Well, we have six more days before the main attack begins. The first thing we need to do is to gather as much information as we can from the public. We should split up and all try to find out as much as we can before we decide what our next course of action should be,” Adam said.
“Is it really a great idea to be going off on our own? There’s no telling what kind of dangers there could be lurking around here,” Alex pointed out.
“We have to cover as much ground and find out as much as we can before the attack begins, I know it's dangerous but it’s what we're getting paid to do…” Adam's thoughts were interrupted.
He sore a bright light coming from one of the other roads coming off from the street they were on. He glanced around seeing a dark side street with two industrial bins on either side of it.
“Quick out of the street!” Adam said urgently as he pointed to the side street.
The rest of the group quickly noticed the light. Adam dashed for cover as fast as he could followed by the rest of the group swiftly after. Out from the side street came one of the mechanical spider-like creatures that Liz had described to them all. It slowly scuttled its way up the street making loud metal clangs as its feet collided with the ground. It stopped in front of the Ally that the group hid in. A strangle blue beam shot out from one of the creature's eyes scanning up and down the Ally. The group all go completely out of sight as the Ally was bathed in the blue light. They held their breaths and crossed their fingers as they hope to avoid the creature's gaze. After a few seconds, the creature turned its head to look back down the street before taking back off. Adam Popped his head out of cover slightly to make sure the coast was clear before walking out of cover. The rest of the group soon joined him.
“Holly crap… I've never seen anything like that in my entire life,” 6 said.
“How are we meant to take something like that down?” 9 added. Alex walked over to Adam.
“Still think that we should go out on our own with those things roaming about the place?” said Alex.
Adam raised his hand to his chin in thought.
“We need to cover as much ground as possible but you’re right, it would be good to have some back up in case we get into a tight spot,” Adam said before looking at the rest of the group. “Ok we will split up into groups of two. 6 and 9 you two go together, ill go with 4 and Alex you go with 5.”
The group all nodded in understanding before moving to stand with there partner.
“Looks like we’re partners, guess ill finally get to see how a kid raised by that old kook Harry turned out,” 5 Joked.
“Ha, hope I don’t disappoint.”
“Alright, we’ll go and get as much information as we can and meet back here in two days to discuss and plan our next moves. Make sure to have each other's backs got it,” Adam said.
The group all nodded before splitting up and going off in their own directions.
Part 2- The Long Walk
Bip Let out a long exhausted yawn and he slowly hovered along behind Liz and 10. As his yawn ended Liz started to let out a similar yawn.
“Damn it Bip,” Liz said through her yawn. “Your starting to make me tired too.”
“It’s not my fault. We’ve been walking for hours. It has to be like midnight by now.”
“We’ve gotta be almost there little buddy, chin up, we can sleep once we get there,” 10 said cheerfully.
The group continued to walk down the tunnel. Off in the distance, they sore the end of the tunnel. Liz increased her pace as she noticed the end of the tunnel coming up. She reached the end coming to a solid wall with a metal door with a rusty heavy-duty lock holding it tightly shut. She pushed the door with all of her might to no avail. 10 and Bip caught up with her.
“This looks kind of promising,” 10 said. “ Need a hand getting the door open?”
“Nah I think I can handle this one.”
Liz squatted down, reached out her hand, and held the lock on the door firmly. She closed her eyes as she focused on the lock. A light blue mist began to seep out from in between her fingers. After a few seconds, she removed her hands from around the lock which now had a frosty tinge to it. She stood back up and took a step back. Liz raised her left leg up before sending it crashing down towards the lock, making contact with the lock and shattering it into hundreds of tiny pieces.
“Impressive,” said Bip.
“Thank you.”
Liz reached out her hands and pushed on the door causing it to slowly creak open.
Part 3- Problems Arising
Liz walked through the door followed behind by 10 and Bip. Liz froze in shock as she looked at the room behind the door. Rows of beds lined the long corridor with there sheets and pillows were messily thrown all about the place. many of the bricks walls had chunks missing and were filled with bullet holes. At the far end of the familiar room was a clock with the glass of the face broken and the hands-on the ground bellow. 10 took a few steps forward to stand next to Liz as they both looked around the room.
“Wow… something really bad must have happened here,” 10 said.
“This… this is the place,” Liz stammered.
“Huh? You mean…”
“This is… or I guess was the resistance's base of operations.”
10 once again looked over the torn apart and abandoned base.
“Oh shit.”
Liz walked further into the base followed behind by 10 and Bip. As the group got deeper in they started to notice splatters of dried blood on the floors and beds.
“What the hell do you think happened here,” commented Bip.
“They must have gotten raided by the government, they probably all either dead or in prison,” Liz replied.
“Guess all of that walking was for nothing,” 10 said.
Liz walked over to one of the beds near the end of the with no blood on it, She sat down on the end of the bed and held her forehead in her hands.
“You ok,” 10 said as he walked over to the bed.
“They're all gone,” Liz said looking up. “We came all of this way and it was all for nothing. For so long I thought that all Lemians where like my parents but they showed me that there where decent people here. with their help, we could have changed this country for the better but now… they're just gone.”
“We don’t know that for sure,” said Bip. “Maybe some of them escaped.”
Liz looked up to look Bip in the eyes. As she looked at him she noticed something strange behind him. She stood up and walked past Bip towards the clock behind him. Pined into the bricks making up the base of the clock was a note with words written in Lemian on it. Liz pulled the note off of the wall as Bip and 10 walked over to her.
“What’s that?”
“It’s a message… I think its meant for us,” Liz said.
“Well, what does it say?”
Liz read through the note thoroughly.
“It said that the survivor's all rallied at the spot we left from when I escaped the country.”
“Perfect, maybe there's still some hope left,” 10 said.
“Yeah, we should get moving right away."
Liz glanced over to Bip seeing him curled up tightly snoring soundly. 10 and Liz both looked at him.
“Maybe the little guy has the right idea. Might be best to rest now while we have the chance.”
“Maybe you’re right. we should take shifts keeping guard, you get some rest ill take first shift.”
10 Nodded in agreement before letting out a long yawn and walking towards one of the beds as Liz started to patrol around the area.

Mage- Chapter 81: On The Run
Written By 50Funny
Part 1-Splitting Up
The group all walked through the dimly lit and dank tunnel. There where two walkways on either side of the tunnel with a river of thick dark green and foul-smelling liquid running down the middle. They walked single file all holding their breaths as much as they could to avoid having to smell the stench in the tunnel.
“I could be back home partying right now… but no, instead I'm here,” 9 complained as he pinched his nose shut.
“God would you stop complaining already… you’re a mage, aren’t you? Why don’t you start acting like one,” 5 replied."
“Would you guys stop fighting already, we’re all meant to be on the same team here,” 10 said.
“10 is right, fighting amongst ourselves isn’t going to get us anywhere. We need to stay focused on the mission at hand.” Adam said from his position at the front of the group.
Liz leaned forward towards Alex placing her head in-between Alex and Bip who flew over his shoulder.
“This is going well,” Liz whispered in a sarcastic tone.
“I know right, we’ve only been walking for a couple of hours and already things are starting to fall apart, I give us a day before we’re all dead.” Alex quietly replied.
The group came to an intersection veering off in two directions. Adam looked down at his map of the sewer system as they came to a complete stop. He turned and looked down each direction seeing no difference between the two paths. Adam let out a frustrated huff before turning around and facing the rest of the group lined up behind him.
“Ok if I’m reading this right then that way should lead us to the city,” Adam said raising his hand to point down the left path. “And if Liz’s information on the rebel base is right then that one should lead us closer to them. We should split up now and kill two birds with one stone.”
“Alright… guess that me then, ill make sure to make contact with the resistance then meet you back in the city,” Liz said.
Adam looked over the rest of the group noticing 10 standing near the back.
“You shouldn’t go alone in case you come across trouble. 10 why don’t you go with her, we’re going to need to be covert once we get to the city and well frankly you stick out like a sore thumb anyway… no offense.”
“None taken,” 10 replied with a smile.
“You should probably go with them two Bip, if people see you flying about with us then they’ll know something is up.”
“Sure thing,” Bip replied.
“Alright we all know what we have to, let keep moving.”
4, 5,6, 9, and Adam started to walk off down the left path leaving Alex, Bip, Liz, and 10 alone. 10 looked at the other before starting to back his way away down the right path.
“I'll let you guys have a moment,” 10 said.
Liz, Alex, and Bip stood in silence for a few seconds avoiding eye contact with each other. Liz and Alex finally raised their heads to look at each other in the eyes.
“Guess we’re not gonna see each other for a while again hey,” Alex chuckled awkwardly.
“Yeah… feels like we only just got reunited,” Liz replied.
The group once again plunged into silence.
“Come on Alex keep up!” Adam's voice echoed out from deeper in the sewer.
“Guess I should get going, be careful ok,” Alex said as he turned and began to walk off after the rest of his group.
Liz watched Alex walk for a few seconds before he stopped in his tracks. He turned back around to look at Liz. His breathing became slightly deeper as he clenched his hand into a tight fist.
“Look Liz… this is gonna be pretty dangerous… there is a pretty good chance that this could be the last time we get to see each other alive. So before we go… I just want to say… it's just…” Alex stammered.
“What is it?” asked Liz.
Alex took in a deep breath and loosened his fist. He smiled at Liz.
“Never mind... its nothing. Just try and stay alive ok.”
Liz returned Alex's smile before quickly walking over to him. She stretched her arms out and wrapped them around him tightly.
“We’re both gonna make it through this, don’t worry. We’ve gotten through a lot of stuff alive and this is no different,” Liz said gently. Alex slowly raised his arms and wrapped them around Liz, returning the hug. After a few moments, they both released and took a few steps back from each other. Suddenly, Bip came flying forward from behind Liz. He stretched out his tail and tightly wrapped it around Alex as he collided into him. Bip began to Bawl his eyes out as he pulled his tail tighter and tighter around Alex.
“Hey what the hell? Get off of me,” Alex said as he tried to push Bip off of him.
“I’m gonna miss you… it feels like we just got back together and now we’re being torn apart again… I'm gonna be so worried about you, just promise you’ll be safe ok,” Bip blurted out through his tears.
“Get off me you damn rat, we were having a moment. Bip seriously let go… you’re starting to choke me,” Alex said, his voice becoming raspier as Bip squeezed him tighter.
Liz giggled as she watched the pair's antics. Bip finally unwrapped his tail from Alex and floated back over Liz’s shoulder. Alex bent over placing his hands on his knees as he tried to catch his breath. He stood back up taking one final deep breath before once again locking eyes with Liz. He nodded at her.
“See you on the other side,” Alex said.
Liz returned Alex nod.
“Yeah, see you then,” Liz replied.
The pair both turned around and walked off down their own path.
Part 2- The First Big Problem
Liz, Bip, and 10 walked down the walkway running alongside the river of sewer water.
“And so that’s basically I was a childhood friend with Harry… I mean 1 as a kid and I guess he must have been impressed with my skill because he gave me a call when he was forming his new guild. Honestly, I didn’t really have much interest in the idea at all but I didn’t have many other work options at the time so I didn’t really have a choice. And well in the end I’m glad I did,” 10 said as they walked.
“Huh, that’s pretty interesting I guess,” Liz replied.
“So you knew Harry as a kid huh?” Bip asked.
“Yep, the guy was always going off on some adventure or something, once he’d set his mind on something there was no stopping him and once he was finished he was straight onto the next adventure. What about you? Why did you become a mage?”
“Oh well… I guess I just wanted to see the world and go on adventures, I didn’t have the best childhood and the only good influence in my life was my magic teacher who was also a mage so it was an obvious career path to follow.”
“Seeing the world on an adventure huh, sounds just like Harry to me, I think you and him would have gotten on swimmingly.”
Liz let out a slight smile at the 10's comment. The group continued to walk down the sewer that seemed to go on forever. They had been walking for almost an hour now and all three of them were starting to grow tired.
“So do you have any idea where this rebel base is?” asked 10.
“On the east coast of the country, there is an entrance to their base that we used when we left the country. If we keep going in this direction we should be able to get outside close then we’ll need to leave the sewers and look for the entrance out side. We probably still have a lot of ground to cover.”
The group went back to once again walking in silence. Bip flew slightly behind the rest of the group. He let out a long yawn and rubbed his eye as he moved. He noticed soothing out of the corner of his eye causing him to stop in his tracks and turn to stare at the wall of the sewer. Liz turned her head to see Bip stopped.
“Come on Bip we need to keep moving!”
“Hold up a second come check this out!”
10 and Liz looked at each other with confusion before walking back to where Bip floated.
“What is it?”
“Look at this, doesn’t it seem strange to you.”
Liz looked at the brick wall. The bricks making up the wall where all in a consistent pattern and the same size until they reach the spot right in front of her which was made up of pieces of brick of all different sizes.
“Yeah I guess, they probably just ran out of norm sized bricks,” Liz said somewhat puzzled by Bip’s interest in the wall.
“Cant you feel it? Focus.”
Liz glanced at Bip before looking back at the wall. She focused all her senses intently on the wall. she started to feel a faint presence of magical energy surrounding the spot on the wall.
“Huh, what the hell is that?”
“Someone’s used some pretty hasty and shoddy magic to cover something up here.”
“Hold up let me see,” 10 said.
Liz and Bip stepped aside to let 10 stand in front of the piece of wall. He raised his hand up above his head and clenched his fist tightly. He let out a loud yell as he sent his fist crashing down through the air. His fist collided with the wall breaking it into hundreds of pieces of rubble. Liz and Bip moved over to look at the hole in the wall seeing a sturdy-looking metal door behind it. Liz walked up to the door and forced the rusted metal handle to turn. She pushed the door open to see a long corridor hallway lit with a familiar dim green light.
“These look like the tunnels that the rebels where using,” Liz said before turning to look at 10 and Bip. “We should be able to follow this straight to their base.”
“Sound’s like a plan to me,” 10 said as Liz pulled the door open further.
Liz walked through the door followed behind by 10 and Bip. The group all walked off down the dimly lit hallway.

Mage: Chapter 80- Landing In Lemia
Written By 50Funny
Part 1- Head First Into Hell
The light hanging from the ceiling suddenly flashed to green and there was a loud beeping. The speakers in the corner of the room began to let out a slight static sound.
“We’re passing over the drop zone now, prepare for the jump,” a voice said through the static.
The back of the cabin began to drop down revealing the blue sky and clouds outside. The door continued to drop down forming a ramp leading up into the cabin. The group all unbuckled themselves from their seats and pulled off their masks before turning around, pulling their parachute off of the wall and strapping it on. They made their way towards the edge of the ramp looking down at the world so far below. Adam stood at the front of the group holding his hand up waiting to signal the jump. Liz looked off of the side of the ramp now becoming fully aware of just how high up they were. Her breathing began to grow heavy as her legs started to shake. She felt something tighten around her hand. She turned her head to see Alex looking at her.
“It’ll be fine… we’ve got this!” Alex yelled over the wind.
Liz nodded trying to swallow her nerves.
“Ok everyone, this is it, on my mark!… three!… two!… one!… Go!”
The group all began to run towards the edge of the ramp and one by one leaped.
Part 2- A Long Way Down
The group dropped through the sky feeling the cold wind forcefully pushing against their faces. They looked down at the sea of clouds beneath them soon passing into them having their vision completely obscured by the thick white mist. They passed through the clouds now being able to see the land below.
“Ok everyone group up, we don’t want to land to scattered over the place, not to close though or we won't be able to activate the shoots,” Adam yelled at the top of his voice, barely being audible over the air rushing past their ears.
The group all swam through the air into a wide circle leaving a large gap in between each other. Liz looked down seeing the earth bellow quickly getting closer and closer. She desperately tried to keep her eyes looking forward. Her breath started to get short as her body tensed up. Alex looked over to Liz noticing her panicked state. He moved closer to her.
“Are you gonna be ok?!” Alex yelled.
“I don’t know how you’re so calm about all of this, we’re plummeting towards the earth and all we’ve got to save us is a backpack!” Liz yelled.
“I never thought you would be so afraid of heights,” Alex Chuckled.
“Yeah well, I've never been this high up before.”
“Just try not to focus on the ground too much, look around you.”
Liz looked around at the clear blue sky. As she stared out into the vast blueness she felt her tension and fear begin to dissipate slowly.
“It… It’s beautiful,” Liz muttered.
“I know right, we’re probably some of the only people to ever see the world from this angle before, it's kind of surreal,” Alex responded.
“It’s just a shame it won't last longer,” Liz said as she looked down at the ground bellow once again.
“Just try and enjoy the moment while it lasts.”
The pair went back to enjoying the view, trying to put the thoughts of the struggles to come out of their mind for the time being.
“So where’s Bip?”
There was a squirming under Alex's shirt before Bip’s head emerged from the neck of the shirt. Liz could see his mouth moving but couldn’t make out his soft voice over all the noise around her.
“They didn’t have a parachute in his size so he had to catch a ride down with me.”
“Alright, people… we’re approaching the point to activate our shoots. We pull on my mark!” Adam ordered. “If you pull too early you’re more likely to get noticed by their instruments.”
The group all reached for their parachutes and firmly grabbed the rope ready to activate their shoots.
“OK, we’ll all pull one by one. We’ll move clockwise around the circle, ill pull first then count to three, and the next person pulls. Ok ready?” Adam yelled.
The rest of the group nodded in understanding.
“Alright, let's go.”
Adam pulled on the rope. His backpack shot to life sending a large parachute flying out the back the rest of the group continued to plummet down to the ground as Adam slowly drifted down.
“Alright me next!” yelled 10.
10 pulled down on the two ropes coming from his pack causing an extra-large parachute to shoot out still barely able to handle his enormous weight. The group continued to pull in order till only Alex, Liz, and 5 where left. 5 turned her head to look at Alex and Liz and gaze them a cheery smile.
“Guess I’m up, good luck,” 5 said before pulling her shoot leaving Alex and Liz alone.
“Well… I'm next I guess, here goes nothing,” Liz said after a few seconds.
Liz closed her eyes tightly before pulling down on the rope. After a brief second, she reopened her eyes, shocked to see she was still falling. She turned her head to look at the roped before pulling on it again and once more this time much more firmly.
“What’s wrong?” Alex asked.
“It… it’s not working!” Liz said, an obvious panic in her voice as she continued to pull on the rope.
“Well, try pulling harder.”
“I’m pulling pretty damn hard!” Liz once again yelled her panic now much more obvious. “The thing is broken.”
“Shit. What the hell are we meant to do!”
Liz looked all around, her mind desperately trying to come up with a solution. Her eyes locked on Alex’s parachute.
“We’re gonna have to share!”
“What!”
“We’re gonna have to share a parachute, you grab me then activate yours.”
“Are you insane, this thing isn’t designed for two people. That’ll just drag us both down, we have to figure out something else.”
The radio connected to Liz’s backpack began to let out a static sound. Liz cocked her head to the side to look at the radio.
“Liz, what the hell are you doing? You two are getting dangerously low, you need to pull your shoots now unless you want to end as a bunch of red chunks on the ground,” Adams's voice cut through the static.
She turned back to Alex.
“We don’t have many options here.”
“Fine, but if we die because of this I’ll… well I won't be able to do anything but you get the point.”
Alex moved through the air over to Liz as she unclipped her parachute and let it go. Alex grabbed hold of her wrapping both of his arms around her chest making sure to hold on with everything that he had. The radio on Alex back sprung to life with static.
“Seriously you two need to pull your shoots now!” Adam yelled.
Alex grasped for the rope while still holing Liz, Barely able to reach it. once it was in his hand he pulled on it with all of his might the parachute shot out of the backpack, pulling the pair up as it opened. The pair continued fell much slower now however they were still dropping much to fast.
“Crap we're going to fast!” Alex yelled.
“Just wait, I'm sure it will slow us down just give it some time.”
The pair looked down to the ground as it continued to grow closer and closer still moving to fast to land safely. Alex closed his eyes and looked away.
“Here we go!” Liz yelled as they were about to impact the ground.
Part 3- Landing In Lemia
Adam set foot on the ground and unclipped his parachute, chucking it to the side. He looked around to the rest of the group who all similarly unbuckled themselves.
“Is everyone alright?” Adam asked 4, 5,6, 9, and 10
“Yeah,” said 4
“Yep,” 9 agreed
“Never Better,” 6 said
“A bit hungry but I’m alright,” 10 said as he struggled with his parachute
“Mhm,” 5 grunted.
Adam walked over to Liz and Alex who laid face down on the grass. He squatted down next to Alex and poked him on the back of the head.
“You two aren't dead are you?”
Liz cocked her head up and turned to look at Adam.
“I used magic to protect us… doesn’t mean it didn’t hurt still,” Liz groaned.
“Well as long as you’re not dead… come on let's get a move on.” Alex raised his hand and waved Adam away.
“Just give us a minute."
Adam stood back up a let out a quiet sigh.
“Fine, you have one minute.”
Adam walked back to the rest of the group who stood in a circle around the discarded parachutes.
“We need to get rid of these, if anyone comes across them we’ll be found out instantly.”
He looked up to the sky catching a glimpse of the plane making its way back home.
“looks like we’re on our own now.”
The rest of the group all looked up to see the plane taking one last look at it before it was gone. Suddenly there was a loud bang off in the distance. Seconds later the plane exploded into a massive ball of flame sending chunks of metal flying out in all directions. Alex and Liz stood up and Bip flew out from under Alex's shirt. The group all looked on in horror as the remains of the plane continued to plummet down. Off in the distance, a high pitch siren started to sound off over the mountains. Adam looked down to the ground trying to maintain his composure. He turned around and began to walk off.
“Come on… we should get moving,” Adam said.
“What about getting rid of the evidence so they don’t know we’re here?” asked 4.
“By the sounds of it that’s out of the question now, we should move before they find us.”
Adam continued to walk off into the distance followed shortly after by the rest of the group.

Mage: Chapter 79- Head First Into Hell
Part 1-Preparing To Ship Out
Liz, Alex, and Bip stood on the tarmac looking at the strange-looking aircraft sitting in front of them. Several people walked about the aircraft working and running maintenance on it. Liz turned her head to look at Alex.
“It’s so weird, I've heard about these plane things before but seeing one up close is strange, it's so much bigger then I thought,” Liz said in amazement.
“Just wait till it takes off, flying something I don’t think ill ever get used to,” Alex replied as he thought about his previous experience on the president's plane.
“What’s so strange about flying,” Bip muttered under his breath.
“You guys are here early,” Came a voice from behind the group.
The group turned around to see 4, 5,6, 9, and 10 walking towards them.
“Oh… you guys are here,” Liz said as she looked over the group. “where’s 2?”
“She’s not coming with us, her position is more administerial so she decided to send 10 in her place,” 5 said.
“And why wasn’t I allowed to use that same excuse again,” 9 muttered.
“Come on buddy… this might actually be some fun, don’t be such a drama queen,” 10 said.
“Its good to see you’re all already here,” Came Joe's voice from towards the plane.
Liz, Alex, and Bip once again turned around to face Joe with Adam walking by his side.
“I hope you have all prepared yourselves for today. Have you all read through the operations manual that I gave you?”
The group all nodded while Alex and 9 nodded half-heartedly.
“Very good … well, the plane is almost ready to depart, we will start boarding now.”
The Vice President and Adam turned around and walked towards the plane. The numbers all walked off in front of Liz, Alex, and, Bip leaving them alone on the tarmac once again. They stared at the aircraft in silence. Alex noticed Bip's paws begin to shake slightly out of the corner of his eye. Alex turned to look at Bip.
“You know you don’t have to come if you’re scared. Me and Liz were the only ones who were called for this mission,” said Alex.
“I know… I won't lie, I am scared, but I can't just sit on the sidelines again this time. I was so worried about you two last time not knowing if you were dead or not, not to mention how useless I felt not being able to help with the mission. This time I’m not gonna let that happen, I’m coming no matter what,” Bip said, his voice filled with determination.
“You three are just as crazy as ever I see,” came a voice from beside them.
The group turned their heads to see Tom walking towards them holding his weight on a set of crutches.
“Tom? What are you doing out of the hospital already? Last time I sore you, you were in a comma,” asked Liz.
“I heard something about some crazy kids going on some sort of suicide mission and thought I had to come see them off,” Tom said.
“Plus not to mention you’re the only reason I got out of Lemia alive, I had to thank you before you left.”
“You don’t have to thank me, I didn’t do all that much in the grand scheme of things, it was all the resistance members that really saved us both.”
“Well, then you’ll have to thank them for me when you get over there.”
“Hey… you three!” came Joe's voice from towards the plane.
The group looked over to the plane to see Joe gesturing for them to come over as everyone else walked up the steps and onto the plane.
“We’re ready to depart, get a move on."
“Well…. You should probably get going, good luck… sounds like you guys are gonna need it,” Tom chuckled.
“Ha… Thanks,” Liz said smiling in return.
Alex, Liz, and Bip turned their attention back to the plane. They simultaneously took in a deep breath preparing themselves for what was to come before making their way to the plane.
Part 2-The Path Into Hell
Alex, Liz, and Bip sat on one side of the plane. They were strapped into there seats with a belt tied tightly around there chest. They all had masks strapped to there faces with tubes running from the masks up into the ceiling. Hanging from the middle of the ceiling was a single light glowing red. On the other side of the plane sat 4, 5,6, 9, and 10 all strapped in and masked as well. Strapped to the wall behind each of the passengers was a backpack with an image of a parachute marking it. Alex turned his head to the side to see Liz with her eyes closed tightly and an uncomfortable expression on her face. Alex pressed a button on the side of his chair causing a static sound to ply through his mask.
“You doing ok there?” Asked Alex through the static.
Liz opened her eyes and turned to look at Alex. She pressed down on the button on her chair causing the same static sound.
“Just have to get used to this… I wasn’t expecting it to be so bumpy.”
“You should have seen the one I traveled on with the president, it was like a luxury hotel sweet in the sky.”
The handle of the door leading to the cockpit began to twist before the door swung open. Adam walked out into the main cabin. He grabbed a bar running along the roof to hold his balance.
“Alright… were almost over the drop zone… we’ll go over the plan one more time just to make sure we’re all clear on it.”
The group all turned to look at Adam as he spoke.
“We are gonna be landing in the mountains around Lemia, the terrain will provide plenty of opportunities to sneak around and hide, however, they are also heavily guarded with outposts keeping a lookout everywhere. The only reason this plane can get so close is because of its advanced stealth capabilities, unfortunately, we don’t have that advantage so we will have to rely on our skill and wit. We’ll make our way through the mountains until we come across the first town. At that point we will access the sewers, from there we should be able to make our way to the capital fairly easily, on the way we should probably try to make contact with the resistance to get their support when the fighting starts.”
“Alright, people let get a move on!” Adam yelled.
The group all unbuckled themselves from their seats and pulled off their masks before turning around, pulling their parachute off of the wall and strapping it on. They made their way towards the edge of the ramp looking down at the world so far below. Adam stood at the front of the group holding his hand up waiting to signal the jump. Mage- Chapter 78: The Battle Plan
Written By 50Funny
Part 1- Waiting Around
Liz, Bip, and Alex sat around a long oval table in an under decorated room. The wall behind the pair was made of glass giving an amazing view of the city below and allowing light to stream into the room. Alex let out a loud and long sigh as he tapped his fingers against the table. He rocked his chain back balancing it to two legs.
“Sorry this is taking so long, but please don’t rock on your chair,” Vice President Joe who sat at the head of the table said.
“This is so boring… I can't believe I woke up early for this,” complained Alex.
Liz reached her hand around behind Alex's chair and gave it a strong push sending it falling back down onto four legs and crashing Alex's stomach into the edge of the table.
“Ahh!” Alex yelled as he reached to his now aching stomach.
“You woke up at ten thirty, that’s not even that early. Just be patient,” Liz scolded as Bip nodded in agreement.
The door to the office slowly creaked open drawing the group's attention to it. One by one people started to file into the room. Liz, Bip, and Alex watched on quickly recognizing the people entering. 2,4,6,5 and 9 all walked into the room and took up a seat opposite Alex and Liz.
“What are all of you doing here?” asked Liz.
“All our guilds leaders received summands. Everyone else was to busy to show up so we’re here to represent the guild,” 2 explained.
“I was busy as well,” 9 said as he rocked back in his chair and rubbed his hand against his head. “I had plans all week, now it’s all ruined.”
“You were passed out in the club when we found you, I had to drag you out of there,” 5 complained as he rested his hand in his head.
“Please… don’t rock on your chair.”
As the guild higher-ups took their seats the sound of footsteps once again came from just outside the room. The group looked to the door as someone else entered the room. Alex instantly recognized the man.
“Adam? What are you doing here?”
“You know about as much as I do, I just received a letter to come here,” Adam said as he took a seat on the same side as Liz and Alex leaving a gap between himself and the Mages.
“Thank you all for coming,” Joe said as he stood up from his chair. “Now that everyone is here we can begin.”
Part 2- The Meeting
“I won't beat around the bush too much. As you all know we are currently in preparation to launch an attack on Lemia. We have a plan set in place, the first part of which involves sending a force to provide reconnaissance. We have been looking for people to make up our recon force with and well… you’re them.”
“Us?... why us?” asked Liz.
“A good question. With the information you brought us back from Lemia we knew that sending ordinary soldiers in to do this job would be a suicide mission, however, using mages provides its own risks. Given that the machines are made using magic users sending them in could just result in bolstering our enemy's numbers. So it was decided that we would use people who have proven themselves to be the best of the best. Liz, Alex and Adam, you’ve all proven your selves to have great ability seeing as you have already managed to come back alive once so you were all obvious picks,” Joe explained before turning to look at the guild leaders. “While the Guild Of The Silver Sun is well known and respected as one of the best Guilds in the business, not to mention the fact that two of the only survivors from the Lemian Peace disaster where members of your guild, the logical decision was to use the highest members of your guild which would be all of you.”
“So are you saying… you’re sending us back to Lemia?” Asked Liz somewhat nervously.
“You do have the right to refuse of course just like any job, no one is going to force you to go back there after what the three of you experienced.”
“But we will be getting paid right?” 4 asked as he raised his hand.
“You will be compensated, of course, the exact amount I will discuss with 2 later but be sure that it will be quite substantial.”
“Well, I think I speak for us five at least that you have us sold… can we go now,” 9 groaned.
Joe looked to the rest of the numbers, his look asking them for there opinion on 9’s statement. The other numbers all nodded in agreement.
“Very well then,” Joe said before turning to look at the other side of the table. “And what about all of you?”
Liz Alex and Adam looked at each other all at once feeling the same reaction at once. They all nodded at each other before turning to look at Joe once again.
“Let’s make those bastards pay for what they did to us,” Alex said, a cocky grin stretching across his face.
Joe smiled in reply before turning around to the bench behind the desk and grabbed a hand full of papers. He turned back to the table and chucked the documents out on the table.
“Please everyone take one of these, they document the plan for the attack on Lemia, we will go over the basics of it now but I expect all of you to go over it in your own time before you ship out.”
The group all reached out and grabbed one of the documents from the pile and began flipping through the pages.
“In two weeks from now, you will all be shipped out in a covert aircraft and airdropped into the Lemian mountain. At that point, you will need to make your way to the capital and keep an eye on things from there and keep us informed. Just before the attack begins you will need to split up into two teams with one infiltrating the capital building itself. When the attack begins both teams will need to start a stir and cause as much damage as possible to instill confusion as the rest of our force makes its way to the capital. Liz, your job will be to make contact with the Lemian resistance you mentioned and enlist their help in causing chaos in the capital when the time comes.”
“So how long are we gonna have to lye low over there?” Adam asked.
“The proper attack will begin at dawn exactly one week after your arrival.”
2 raised her hand to her chin and began to scratch as she thought.
“One week alone in Lemia huh… that’s a pretty long time considering the circumstances,” 2 said.
“I won't lie, it will be extremely dangerous, if you’re not careful you will most likely die, and even if you are then the chances that you make it home in one piece is still highly unlikely. You can all still back out now, we can find someone else to take your place, but this will be your last chance. If you leave this room today then there is no backing down, do you understand.”
A silence fell over the room as joe scanned over everyone in the room as they thought. They all looked at each other to gauge each other's reaction. After a few seconds, they all nodded in unison.
“I think you know our answer,” 2 said as she locked eyes with Joe.
Joe smiled.
“Very good, now then you’re all free to go about your business for the next few days. Three days before you ship out please show up here and we will prepare you for shipping out…” Joe said before his watch began to sound out an alarm, he looked down at his watch. “I my I lost track of time, you’re all dismissed.”
The group all stood up and filed out of the room one by one leaving Joe alone who turned around to the bench behind him.
Part 3- Meanwhile In Lemia
The sound of hundreds of people tapping keys on there keyboard sounded out in the dimly lit hall. The hall was lined with desks running from wall to wall leaving a gap in the middle to walk down. The people working all wore visors encompassing their entire heads as they worked. The room veered downward towards a wide space at the bottom. Running all along the back wall was a large monitor taking up the entire wall which was responsible for most of the light in the room. The monitor displayed hundreds of smaller images showing security footage from all across Lemia flicking to a different image every few moments. President Xang stood at the front of the room looking up at the screen with his bodyguard standing ready behind him. He stood in front of a podium with a small circular piece of metal sitting on it with a blue light in the middle. The light in the middle began to flash and a beeping. Suddenly a light blue 3d image shot up from the center light of a man wearing a dark cloak.
“Ahhh my friend it is good to finally hear from you again,” President Xang said.
“How have things been progressing on your end,” The strange figure said, his voice distorted,
“Well we have been able to integrate many of the Magic users captured from their base into our machines, they are being tested now but so far they appear to be even more powerful then others. I must once again thank you for you’re tip-off that they where housing magic users at their base, not to mention all of your generous donations to my government, without you none of this would be possible.”
“No thanks is required, just don’t squander this opportunity, our plans our working out so far but if you screw things up you will regret it.”
“How dare you threaten the…” Lang said as he took a step forward before being stopped by the president.
“I understand… I thank you again for this opportunity,” The resident said as he bowed.
“Very good… oh, one more thing. They’re coming for you, an attack is being planned but in the meantime, they will be sending spies to keep eyes on you… be warry,” The stranger warned.
“I understand, how should I go about disposing of them?”
“I trust you to figure that part out yourself,” the figure said before the light cut out.
The president thought on the stranger's words before turning around and walking towards the exit followed behind by Lang.

Chapter 77 – Catching Up
Written By 50Funny
Part 1- Stuck At Home
Bip hovered behind the counter at the back of the room. He stretched out his tail to the benchtop and wrapped it around a stack of papers being bundled together with a string. He pulled the papers off of the bench causing him to drop down as he fully took the weight. He turned around and floated over to the wall behind, lifted the papers, and placed them on the shelf running along the wall. He floated back over the counter and looked up at the shelf full of similar stacks of papers. He stared at the shelf and smiled, beaming with the pride of a job well done. Without warning a door next to the counter came swinging open. Mia came walking into the dimly lit room struggling to carry several more stacks of papers piled one on top of another in her arms. She stumbled into the room, letting out an exhausted pant as she nudged the door closed with her foot. Bips' expression slowly sank as he looked at the enormous pile.
“Oh good… you’re finished,” Mia said as she plonked the large pile onto the bench with a loud thud. “Time to get started sorting the next lot.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me, I’m sick of all this paperwork and filing, I need some action before I die of boredom,” Bip sighed.
“I don’t get all of you. Where’s the fun in risking your life all the time? You can do so much inside so why would you ever want to leave?”
“I wouldn’t call it fun but its definitely better than sitting around here filing all day.”
The door leading into the building came swinging open filling the room with a near blinding light. Bip turned his head to looked towards the door seeing two figures walking into the building being silhouetted by the sunlight streaming inside.
“And so then the engine cut off and we couldn’t get it going again so we had to paddle the rest of the way here,” Alex said chuckling slightly as he came completely into view.
“Haha… that hilarious it’s a wonder you two even managed to get home,” Liz replied laughing hysterically.
Alex and Liz turned to look into the building noticing Bip hovering above the desk. His jaw dropped as he stared at the pair in complete shock. Liz smiled kindly at Bip.
“Hey, Bip… it’s good to see you again.”
“Yeah. How you been buddy?” Alex asked in a casual tone.
Bip’s eyes began to swell up with tears as he stared at the pair. He shot off towards the pair at top speed. Before Alex and Liz had the chance to react Bip was already on them. He stretched his tail out and wrapped it around the pair before tightening it to pull them closer to him as he gave them a large hug.
“Hey what the hell… let go… you’re gonna crush us,” Alex said as he desperately tried to free himself for Bips grasp.
“Shut up jerk… I missed you two so much. I was so worried about you. When we heard that all contact had been lost with the forwards base I was sure I was never going to see you again,” Bip said, tears now streaming down his face and forming a puddle at the group's feet.
Liz reached her hand around to Bips back and pated it gently as he continued to ball his eyes out.
“Yeah buddy… we missed you too,” Liz said in a comfortingly.
Part 2- Catching Up
Liz, Bip, and Alex sat around a circular table in the Mage’s bar. The place was much quieter then the group had ever seen it before with most of the tables and chairs still stacked up waiting to be put out. Only a few other patrons were sitting around the bar most seeming very hungover. Alex sat back in his chair surrounded by the scraps of food from his long since devoured meal. Liz took a sip from her cup of coffee before turning to look at Bip.
“So you’ve been helping out around the guild building this whole time,” asked Liz.
“Yeah, without you two around I didn’t really have anything to do or anywhere to go so I decided to hold up here for a while, it only seemed right that I help out around the place to thank them for their hospitality. It kept me busy but its nothing compared to what you’ve gone through, hearing about all that went down in Lemia it’s a wonder you both survived,” replied Bip.
“Ahh did you really think we would die in a place like that? Have a little faith in us Bip, We’ve been through worse,” Alex bosted.
“Haha, yeah right I’m sure you were so brave the entire time,” said Bip in a sarcastic tone.
“Hey what’s that supposed to mean.”
“Don’t act tuff, I know you, I bet you where probably crying like a little baby the entire time.”
“Why you.”
Alex reached out swiftly and grabbed Bip and put him into a headlock. He began to scrape his knuckle across Bip’s head.
“You think I’m some kind of wimp huh? I'll show you,” said Alex.
“Hey ow… quit it I was only kidding… let me go!” Bip screamed as the pain started to set in.
Liz looked on at the pair and for the first time in a long time felt safe. She smiled as she watched before taking another sip of her coffee.
“Well, I’m just glad that the whole thing is finally over…”
Suddenly the door to the bar came swinging open and a man ran into the building, panting and sweating profusely. The bartender who stood behind the bar turned to look at the man.
“You ok their buddy?” The bartender said casually.
The man knelt over placing his hands on his knees as he continued to pant. He raised one of his hands to point at a small Tv sitting in front of the bartender.
“The… Tv… Turn it… On,” The man panted.
“Hold on a second, do you want a drink or som…”
“Turn it on now!” The man yelled.
“Alright alright jeez calm down mate.”
The bartender reached under the counter and pulled out a small black Tv remote. He pointed it to the screen and pressed the red button on the top. The Tv sprung to life with an image of a woman sitting behind a desk looking straight at the camera with a stack of papers in her hand.
Part 3- Breaking News
“And now to breaking news,” the women said as she tapped the papers against the desk to even them out.
The image on the screen flicked over to a video. Alex eye’s widened as he realized what the video was. It showed the President Deson and President Xang signing a piece of paper on a podium. Before the guard standing behind the president pulled his gun out and shot him in the head. The president's body fell to the ground as the rest of the guard’s in the room open fired before the video feed cut out.
“This video was sent to us by the government who have also confirmed that the video is of President Deson being murdered. According to a statement from now Acting President Stone President Deson had traveled to Lemia to sign a peace treaty with the Lemian President however was betrayed leading to his death. For more on this developing story, we go live now to The Acting President at his press conference.”
The Tv once again flicked over this time to show Joe standing behind a podium surrounded by security looking over a sea of journalists.
“It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the death of our beloved president. Peace with Lemia was something that the president would often speak of and was one of his main goals and it is truly saddening that his dream has ended in such a way. However, we will not take this lying down. Lemia was taken our trust and betrayed it, a mistake that we shall not let them forget. So with that, it is my job to inform you today that as of now…” Joe took a brief pause before looking straight into the camera. “We are now at war.”

Chapter 76- Planning A New Strategy
Written By 50Funny
Part 1- Facing The Council
Liz, Ali, and Joe walked down the long clean corridors of the government facility. Liz looked up to Joe as they walked.
“Sooo… what’s that council thing you mentioned?” Asked Liz.
Joe turned his head to look at Liz as he walked, his eyebrows rising in surprise.
“You mean you’ve never heard of them? The president can't run the country all by himself so many different aspects of the country are overseen by trusted members of his cabinet who answer to him,” Joe explained.
“Sounds like serious business, what are they like?”
“Oh, you'll like them… their just a barrel of laughs,” Joe said sarcastically.
The group reached that door at the end of the hallway. Joe reached his hand out to the handle before turning to look at Ali.
“You stay out here, ill be back soon.”
“Very well sir.”
The Vice President turned the door handle and pushed it open and walked into the council chamber followed by Liz. The council members around the table stood up and saluted as he entered except for General Cad who rolled his eyes.
“Thank you all for waiting.”
“Well now that you’ve had your little toilet break why don’t we get back to business.” General Cad hissed.
Everyone took their seats once again as Liz and Joe walked across the room to his seat. The General eyed off Liz as she walked.
“And who is that? You should know that civilians aren’t allowed in here.”
“This is an exception,” Joe said as he took his seat and placed the files Liz had given him onto the table. He looked up to Liz and gestured towards her. “Liz here was one of the Mages at the forward base… Liz tell them what you told me.”
Liz looked around the table at the five strangers looking back at her. She took a deep breath through her nose and gulped loudly.
“Well… umm. Everything seemed like it was going fine but then we were attacked by these weird metal creatures equipped with these strange weapons. They overwhelmed the base and slaughtered almost everyone without any effort. Only a couple of us managed to survive with the help of a Lemian resistance group.”
“Metal creatures? What on earth is that supposed to mean?” A woman at the table said.
“I know it sounds impossible but it would appear to be true,” Joe said as he grabbed some of the documents off the table and held them up to the group. “These are blueprints for the machines.”
“Let me see those,” The women replied.
Joe reached out and handed the files to her. She looked through the blueprints taking in all the information.
“A near-impenetrable armored carapace, weapons that use intense refraction to create a devastating beam of light… if this is real then there is no telling the kind of damage that these things could do.”
“That’s not even the worst of it.”
Joe went through the documents to the bottom until he came across another set of blueprints. He grabbed the blueprint and held it out to the rest of the group. It depicted a strange humanoid figure made out of metal.
“This would appear to be an elite variant of these machines. If I understand these blueprints correctly then it seems that this is a machine… that can perform magic.”
The Vice president words cut through the group shocking them deep to the core. Liz’s mind raced thinking back to the attack on the base and remembering the machine she had seen lifting objects with its mind.
“That… that’s impossible. Even if a machine could perform magic there is no way Lemia would use them,” The women holding the blueprints said.
“It’s true…” Liz said drawing the group's attention to her. “Back at the base, I sore a machine that looked different than the rest, it looked like it was using magic to lift things, I didn’t think much of it at the time with everything else going on.”
“But how is that even possible?” another man at the table said. Joe looked at the blueprints.
“If I'm reading this right then it has to do with the magic users they take at birth. Instead of killing them as we thought was the case they were taken to a secret facility and raised by the government, they then ran experiments to integrate the children into the machines. It says that most of the kid would die but those who didn’t would become machines with human minds and have the ability to use a unique form of magic.”
“Th… that’s impossible.”
“Id think so to if I hadn’t just read it, I trust you all understand that his mean our plan of waiting for lemia to attack will no longer be viable. If we wait we run the risk of waiting for them to strike if they have such weapons.”
“You can't be serious,” Cad said in an accusatory tone drawing the rest of the group's attention to him.
“Do you have something to say, General?” Asked the women opposite him.
“Yeah… I do, do you all honestly believe all of this crap.”
“What the hell are you getting at,” Liz threatened as she took a step towards the general before being blocked by Joe's hand.
“It’s nothing personal, but we have no way to verify this ridiculous story of yours. How do we know that this rebel group you mentioned exists, for all we know you were taken by the Lemian military and sent here to sow confusion within us in return for your life. You’re just some mage, we have no reason to trust you and we certainly shouldn’t change our plans because of this.”
“You can't seriously think id be making all of this up can you?”
Liz and Cad locked eyes as the tension between the pair grew and grew.
“Enough of this,” Vice President Joe said breaking the tension. “I haven’t known Liz for long but I trust her, and even if I didn’t it would still be foolish to ignore her warning. We must completely rethink our strategy here.”
Joe turned to look at Liz with a kind expression.
“Liz if you wouldn’t mind, Ali will show you out, we need some time to discuss our next course of action,” he said as he gestured towards the door.
Liz looked around at everyone else in the room one last time making sure to glare at General Cad. She nodded at Joe before walking towards the door.
Part 2- Together Again
Liz stood in the elevator next to Ali tapping her foot awkwardly as she waited in the silence. She turned to look at Ali and went to ask something before stopping and turning to look back at the doors once again. The elevator slowed before coming to a complete stop. There was a quiet ding before the doors pulled open revealing an immaculately kept lobby area with men and women in suits walking about.
“Thank you for your assistance,” Ali said as she gestured for Liz to leave the elevator.
“Wait… so what happens now,” asked Liz.
“We will contact you if there is anything else that you need to know.”
Liz looked at Ali for a few seconds before turning and walking out of the elevator. She stopped before quickly turning back to face the elevator to ask another question just to see the doors slamming shut. She let out a frustrated huff before walking towards the exit. She looked around at the amazing interior of the immaculately kept government building. She reached the spinning doors and walked through and out into the fresh air. She looked around the cityscape still trying to figure out what she would do next and where to go.
“Liz?” came a familiar voice from down the stairs leading to the doors.
She turned to look down the stairs. Her eyes widened as she was filled with shock and joy as she sore Alex standing next to another man staring back up at her with the same expression.

Mage Chapter 75- Home Sweet Home
Written By 50Funny
Part 1- The Developing Situation
Five people wearing suits and ties sat around a large circular table in a well-lit room. The people all sat around the table impatiently, checking their watches and tapping their fingers as they waited. At one end of the table were two empty chairs. General Cad sat up straight in his seat and took in a deep breath.
“Well, I think it's pretty clear he’s not going to show…” The Generals words were cut off as the door to the room swung open and the vice president entered carrying a folder overflowing with documents.
Four of the people around the table stood to attention as the vice president entered the room. General Cad stood up much slower than the rest. Vice President Joe walked across the room and took his seat at the table and began to get his files in order.
“Right… let's get into things.”
The rest of the group all sat down.
“I don’t even see what there is to talk about,” General Cad barked.
“You know what we're here to talk about, the Lemnian situation,” a woman on the other side of the table said.
“But why do we have to have a conversation about that, Its obvious what we have to do. We haven’t heard from the president in over a week and all communication with Lemia and our outpost has broken down. It's obvious that this is a declaration of war. We should be preparing our army and Mages to defend the country. The second Lemian forces pop up over the horizon we will wipe them out.” General Cad growled.
“It’s not that simple. We can't sit back and wait for them to come to us, we need to take the fight to them. For all we know the president could be being held hostage and tortured, at the very least we need to do is send a team in to retrieve him,” another man in the room said.
A silence came over the room as everyone waited for the vice president to say something. He cleared out his throat as he opened up his binder and of documents and began to rifle through them.
“Well, we might actually have some new information regarding that.”
He reached a page in the binder with a DVD in a clear case. He pulled it out, stood up, and walked over to a DVD player connected to a monitor at the back of the room.
“We received this from the Lemian government yesterday, I think the footage speaks for itself.”
Joe picked up a remote off the desk and flicked the Tv to life. A video of President Deson and President Xang signing a piece of paper on a podium. The group watched on intently as the video continued. Without warning a guard standing behind the president reached for his holster, pulled his gun out, and shot him point-blank in the head. The group all looked on in shock at what they were seeing as the president's body limply dropping to the ground. The video devolved into chaos as the rest of the guard’s open fired before the video feed cut out all together. The group sat stunned in complete silence unsure of what to say. Joe turned around and walked back to his seat.
“So I trust we all realize that a rescue mission is off the table.” The silence over the room continued for a few more seconds.
“I don’t see what this changes. If the president is dead then there is no need to make attack them first. We need to prepare to repel their inevitable counter.” General Cad reiterated.
“You can't be serious, you just want to let them get away with the murder of our leader. I thought you of all people would want revenge for this act,” the man opposite the general said with disgust.
“Do you think I’m happy about this, if it where up to me I would storm the palace myself but we have to think smart about this. All previous attempts to bring the war to Lemia have been disastrous, we need to let them be the ones to make the first move so we can prepare an effective counter. Besides, do you really think the president would have wanted us to be thinking about revenge right now.”
The room was once again plunged into silence as the group all pondered on what to do next. The man turned to look at Joe.
“It’s your decision Vice President sir. Until this situation is dealt with and a new president has been elected you'ree in command. We will abide by whatever you decided.”
Cad scoffed under his breath as the rest of the group awaited Vice President Joe's decision. He looked down at his files and scratched his chin as he thought. He looked back up and glanced at each of his colleagues around the table finally reaching General Cad.
“General Cad had a very good point,” the Vice President said as the Generals ears perked up in surprise. “ Knowing the president for as long as I did I know that he would not want us to focus on getting revenge for him. I must say I’m lacking a lot when it comes to knowledge on our military and war in general so I have to trust in General Cads position given his particular skill set.”
The rest of the group murmured amongst themselves as General Cad eyed off the Vice President with an untrusting glare. The man turned back to look at Joe.
“Very well then sir as you say.”
The door to the room suddenly swung open as a woman dressed in a suit and tie with blacked-out sunglasses on her face walked in the room.
“Sir I have important news for you,” said the women.
“Who is this,” a woman at the desk said in confusion looking to the Vice.
“This is my new chief of security, What is it Ali.”
“It would be best if I show you,” Ali said.
“Very well then… if you would all excuse me for a moment I will try and make this quick.”
The president stood up and walk to Ali’s side. The pair walked out of the room closing the door behind them.
“Talk to me Ali.”
“Border control caught several boats trying to enter the country. Amongst them was a girl who claimed to be one of the Mages hired to assist the military. She asked to see you specifically.”
“Well now that certainly sounds interesting, let's not keep her waiting."
Part 2- On Home Soil
Liz sat in a white room completely devoid of any decorations. She looked up at the door in the corner of the room as it creaked open and Joe entered the room followed behind by Ali.
“Ahh Liz it’s good to see you again, I only wish it could have been under some better circumstances,” Joe said as he took a seat opposite Liz and Ali stood behind him.
“It’s good to see you again too, I’m just happy to be back to safety again,” Liz replied.
“Indeed… now I have some questions to ask you, ill just start with the obvious one, what happened over there?”
“Honestly I’m not even sure, around the time the peace treaty would have been being signed we where attacked by these… things,” Liz explained.
“Things?”
“They were machines but it was like they had a mind of there own. They quickly overpowered the base a killed almost everyone inside was killed but a few of us were able to escape with the help of a group of Lemian rebels.”
“Lemian rebels huh? Now that’s something I never knew about before. These machines you mentioned, what else can you tell us about them.”
“Not much but I do have these,” Liz reached into a bag on the ground and pulled out a small stack of papers. “The leader of the rebels gave me these, he said they said they stole them from a military facility.”
Liz held out the papers to Joe. He took them from Liz and began to rifle through them glancing through the information.
“Half these words I don’t even understand... but the ones I do don’t seem to bode too well.”
The Vice president's eyes suddenly widened in shock as he read a line towards the end of the pages. Liz noticed the change in his demeanor.
“What… what does it say?”
“Oh uhh… nothing. We should bring this new information to the attention of the council,” Joe said as he stood up from his chair and walked over to the door.
“Wait, what about all of the refugees I brought back with me?”
“They will be processed and all being well will be integrated into our society, it won't be a quick process but we will do our best. Now come with me, your first-hand experience will help inform the council's decision.”
Joe pulled the door open and exited the room followed behind by Ali. Liz stood up and followed the pair out of the room closing the door behind her.

Mage: Chapter 74 - Hitting The Checkpoint (Part 3)
Written By 50Funny
Part 1-The Story Continues
Adam stood in front of Sabastion listening to his story as Alex stood leaning against the back wall.
“So what you’re saying is that two people did all of this?” Adam asked as he turned to look back through the door at the destroyed hallway.
“It’s not that surprising after all one of them was a Magic-user,” Sebastion replied.
Alex turned his head to look at the ground as his suspicions grew as to just who it was who attacked the checkpoint.
“Anyway,” Sebastion said drawing Alex’s attention back to him. “It’s not like they were on their own for very long.
Part 2-Red Alert
The hallway was suddenly bathed in a flashing red light. A loud siren began to sound out throughout the facility at a near defining level. A voice began to blare through the speakers in Lemian.
“Damn it, we need to get out of here fast,” Tia said with no small amount of urgency in his voice
The sound of footsteps began came from all around getting louder and louder as Liz and Tia planned their next move. A group of guards came running up the stair to flank the pair as another came around the corner meeting them head-on.
“Crap!” Liz yelled.
The two groups raised their guns to point at them.
“Fire!” One of the guard’s leading one of the groups yelled.
Liz knelt down and placed her hands on the floor. The sounds of a storm of bullets from all direction filled the air almost blocking out the sound of the alarms. Two thick walls of dense blue ice formed on either side of Liz and Tia swiftly growing up to meet the roof. The bullets collided with the ice slowly starting to chip away at it. Tia looked out at the guard’s as the ice wall cracked more and more.
“Well looks like you bought us about a minute. Got any other tricks up your sleeves?” Tia asked trying to remain calm.
Liz's mind raced to come up with a plan. She looked up to the concrete roof above them. She walked over to the wall and pressed her hand against it.
“I hope this works.”
Liz closed her eye and focused on the wall. A loud cracking sound echoed through there small iced off area as large cracks formed in the wall followed by another and another. The cracks slowly made there way up the wall and onto the roof. The cracks began to grow larger and split off into more smaller cracks forming a web of cracks all over the roof. The ceiling suddenly gave way above them crumbling into small chunks that landed all around the pair narrowly missing them. A single bullet pierced the ice wall protecting them shooting just past Tia’s head. Liz placed her hands on the ground causing a large pillar of ice to grow beneath them taking them up to the next level as more bullets pierced their shield. Liz stood back up. The sounds of bullets stopped as the solider’s quickly made their way up to the next level. Liz took a quick deep breath before feeling a hand grabbing hers. She looked up to see Tia reaching out to grab her.
“Come on! We don’t have time to rest!” Tia yelled as he ran off dragging Liz behind him.
Tia let go of Liz's hand as she started to run behind him. The pair darted around the hall as top speed. A door opened further down the hall and a soldier came storming out and looked down the hall making eye contact with the pair as they ran towards him. He fumbled to point his gun at him as they drew closer. Liz lunged forward with her fist cocked back behind her head. She coated her fist in a layer of ice. As she reached the man she sent her fist flying forward towards his head. Her hand collided with the man, the ice shattered into hundreds of tiny pieces as the man was sent flying backward and crashing into the ground. Liz and Tia quickly ducked into the doorway that the man had come out of entering into a staircase leading up and down. Liz went to run down the staircase.
“Hold up, they’ll be expecting us to go for the front door. We need to find another way out.” Tia said as he pointed up the staircase.
Tia ran up the stairs followed shortly behind by Liz. The pair raced up the stairway before coming to the end of it being greeted by another door. Liz busted the door down coming into another long hallway. They ran down the corridor for a few seconds quickly coming to a dead end with a large window looking out over the ocean.
“Crap wrong turn, let’s turn back and try to find a different rou…” Liz’s word where cut shot as she turned around.
Tia turned to around as well to see a large group of guards slowly walking towards them pointing their weapons at them. Liz took up a fighting stance and prepared her self for a fight. Tia reached for his gun. The two groups stood each other off neither one wanting to break the stalemate. The group of guards muttered amongst each other in Lemian.
“Looks like we’re in a bit of trouble here huh,” Tia half-heartedly laughed.
“Yeah… looks like this might be it,” Liz replied.
“At least the rest of the boats should be long gone by now.”
There was a smashing sound from behind Liz and Tia. They both glanced over to see a small silver cylinder laying on the ground in a small pile of broken glace. There was another shattering noise on the other side of them followed by another. Suddenly the three cylinders all sprung to life and began to spin around on the floor letting out a thick cloud of smoke from each end. The room was quickly filled with smoke completely obscuring everyone’s vision. The soldiers began to panic amongst themselves getting more and more irate.
“What the hell is this?” Asked Liz.
“No clue… just be ready for everything,” Tia replied keeping up his fighting stance.
The pair heard footsteps coming from right next to them cracking the shards of glass lying around the floor. The cloud of smoke was suddenly lit up as the sound of guns being fired filled the air from right beside them. The guard’s all began to let out screams slowly becoming more and more garbled before silencing all together. The sound of guns being fired came to a complete stop with the screams. Liz and Tia looked around growing more panicked as they tried to figure out where the unknown figures where. The sound of the canisters letting out smoke stopped. After a few seconds, the smoke began to dissipate allowing Liz and Tia to see the outline of six figures all around them and a pile of bodies in front of them. As they were able to make out more of the figures out one of them turned to face the pair. He walked towards them holding his gun at his side. Tia and Liz kept up there fighting stance as they eyed off the stranger.
“Back off, I don’t know who the hell you are but we’ve got no beef with you so let's just keep it that way,” Liz threatened.
The man continued to walk towards them, the pair were now able to make out a gas mask on his face. The figure reached up to his face and pulled off the mask. Tia’s stance slowly lowered as he recognized the stance.
“Rila?” Tia said in confusion.
“Yes sir.”
Tia looked around at the other figures in the room and the pile of bodies before looking back to Rila.
“I thought I told you if you heard alarms to get everyone out of here.”
“You did sir, but you also told me I was in charge. The men cant take any more losses, it’s either win here or die trying .”
Tia once again looked at the other men in the room who all nodded in agreement. He looked back to Rila who stood to attention.
“Sir… my punishment for disobeying?”
“Let’s just focus on finishing this for now,” Tia said a slight smile forming across his lips “Ill reprimand you later.”
Rila stood down once again. Liz and Tia walked off down the hallway followed by the rest of the soldiers, ready for the fight of there lives.
Part 3- Departing For Home
Liz and Tia stood on the long dock leading out from the outpost as the other soldier all around them moved the bodies of the outposts guard’s into the building. The boats packed full of people passed over the Lemian border and into open water. One of the boats pulled up next to Liz and Tia on the dock as they both looked out into the dark ocean unfolding out in front of them.
“Looks like you’re finally going home,” Tia said.
“Yeah… looks like it. it’ll be nice to feel safe again. You sure you don’t want to come with us? There’s space on the boats and if you stay here things can only get worse for you.”
Tia looked over his shoulders at the soldiers all going about the clean up beaming with pride at a job well done. Tia turned back to look at Liz a smile stretching across his lips.
“Not a chance. This is the first big victory we’ve had in a long time and there is no way I’m not gonna see this through.”
“Good answer,” Liz replied a similar smile crossing her lip’s. “Just make sure to stay alive until I get back.”
“You can count on it. before you go as welli have something for you.” Tia said as he turned and signalled one of his men to come over.
The man approached the pair holding a large duffle bag. As he walked he unzipped the bag and reached into it pulling out a large stack of documents. He handed them to Tia before saluting and returning to his business. Tia turned to once again face Liz before handing the documents over to her.
“What are these?”
“We stole them from a military facility in a raid, they talk about Lemia’s plans as well as providing information on all the military’s weapons including those robots. I figure this might be helpful for your military.”
“Thanks… im sure they can find some use for it.” There was a silence between the pair for a moment. Tia placed his hand out in front of him. Liz did the same, grabbing Tia’s hand and shaking it firmly. She turned around and stepped on the boat. The engine kicked into life and the boat began to move away from the dock. Tia looked on at the boat as it took off into the darkness locking eyes with Liz one last time before she disappeared entirely.
Part 4- Leaving Lemia Behind
Alex and Adam listened as Sabastion finished up his story standing in silence as they thought about it for a moment.
“That sounds pretty intense… I had no idea there was a Lemia resistance,” Adam said.
“The government likes to present like they are supported 100% but there’s a lot of people who would be ready to take up arms at any moment,” Sabastion replied.
“Good to know I guess but it doesn’t change anything, we still need to get out of here and get back home,” Alex said finally moving from his position in the corner.
“He has a point. We have to get back home so that we can warn people about what happened here.”
“Hmm… there are some old boats held in the garage we use for fishing on our off time. They're not really what I would call… seaworthy though.”
“It’s the best we got, come on… I wanna get home,” Alex said as he turned around and walked back out into the hall.
Adam and Sabastion looked at each other before following in Alex’s wake.

Mage: Chapter 73 - Hitting The Checkpoint (Part2)
Written By 50Funny
Part 1- Stalking Around
Alex and Adam walked around the destroyed facility keeping a low profile and making sure to make as little noise as possible. They carefully crept past the lifeless guards as the sounds of sirens filled their ears.
“What the hell do you think happened here?” Asked Alex.
“Can’t say for sure, but if I had to guess id say someone else had the same idea as us,” Adam replied.
“You think that someone was trying to break out of Lemia?”
“It seems likely, probably someone else who survived the attack, I just hope that our guy survived whatever it was that happened here.”
The pair came to a door at the end of the hallways. Alex leaned in and placed his ear against the door and listened hearing nothing behind it. he stood back up and reached his hand out and grabbed the handle and turned it before pushing it open. The pair stood outside the door leading into a small monitoring room with an overturned table sitting close to the back wall. As Alex went to enter the room he heard a quiet clicking sound barely audible over the siren. He quickly jumped backward taking cover behind the doorway as a loud bang sounded out and a bullet came speeding through the doorway. Adam took cover behind the other side of the door and drew his weapon. Alex reached out his hand causing his blade to appear in a cloud of smoke in it.
“Look’s like someone’s alive after all.”
“Yeah, let’s remedy that before he gets us first.”
“Huh… good luck with that assholes,” came a man's voice from behind the table followed by another loud bang and bullet shooting through the doorway.
“Who are you calling an Asshole, we’re not the one’s who shot first here!” Alex yelled back in reply.
“Hang on a second … was that English? Are you Sabastian?”
“Maybe I am maybe I’m not, that depends, who are you guys?”
Adam swiveled out from behind frame to stand in the doorway. He raised his hands above his head as he walked further into the room.
“What the hell are you doing? Are you trying to get killed?”
“We’re not here to hurt you, we’re friends.”
There was a brief moment of silent tension as Adam and Alex waited to see what the man's reaction would be. After a few seconds, the man popped out of his cover pointing his gun square at Adam.
“Funny… I don’t recall having any friends that look like you.”
“We’re with the army, we were deployed to Lemia to protect the president during the peace meeting.”
“Yeah and you really did a great job at that, remind me how the president is doing again nowadays,” Sabastian said as he lowered his gun.
Alex entered the room cautiously
“That’s exactly why we were here, we need to get back home so we can te…”
“I know exactly why you’re here, same reason as your friends, at least you guys seem more reasonable then they were.”
“Friends?” Adam asked.
“Yeah, all those people who stormed in here guns blazing. I locked myself in here so I could make something of a last stand but they never ended up finding me… what? you telling me you didn’t know about them?”
“No. we’ve been on our own since the attack,” Alex chimed in.
“Huh… well then, guess I jumped the gun a bit,” Sabastion said as he moved out from behind the table. He reached his hand out in front of him. “I’m Sabastian but I guess you already know that.”
Adam reached his hand out to shake Sabastions.
“I’m Adam,”
Alex raised his hand up half-heartedly to wave.
“Hey, I’m Alex.”
“Good to meet both of you. But if you guys weren’t with the guys who stormed this place that still leaves the question of who the hell it was.”
Part 2- Stealth Mission
Liz raised her hand up through the air causing the two balls of dense blue ice to form in front of her. She popped out of her cover and pushed her hand forward sending the balls flying towards the two guards who blocked their path down the hall. The guards turned to notice Liz only millisecond before the ice slammed into their heads, shattering and knocking them unconscious. Tia quickly broke cover as well and ran over to the guard, checking to make sure they were completely out. He stood up and moved across the hall to a door. He pushed the door open slightly and peeked into the room. Liz walked over to Tia’s side.
“Looks like this room is clear, we can hide them in here,” Tia said.
“Come on help me move them.”
Tia and Liz walked back over to the bodies and grabbed one each. They dragged them into the empty room before exiting and closing the door behind them. Tia and Liz continued to walk down the hall keeping as low of a profile as possible and staying completely silent. They reached a staircase leading up to the next level.
“Looks like we’ve cleared out this whole level, you wanna take a quick breather before we continue?” Tia asked.
“I’m good, we don’t have enough time to be taking breaks anyway,” Liz replied.
“That sounds good to me.”
Liz took a step forward to walk up the stairs before feeling a hand grab her on the arm and pull her back. She turned around to see Tia grabbing her.
“What? what's up?”
“Look,” Tia said as he pointed up to the top of the staircase.
Disguised amongst the shadows of the wall at the top of the wall was a small security camera scanning the walls with a small red light blinking on and off as it moved back and forth. Liz took a step back making certain she was out of the camera's sight.
“Geez thank's, that was close,” Liz said.
She raised her hand up to point towards the camera. A light blue mist began to shoot out of the palm of her hand and slowly drifted over to the camera forming a thick crystal of ice over the Lens. Liz turned to look at Tia, nodded before the pair both took of once again.
“How long we got until the deadline?” Liz asked.
Tia looked down at his watch.
“Thirteen minutes, then we’ll be on our own,” Tia replied.
“We should probably pick up the pace then.”
As the pair walked down the long hall a door at the end suddenly came swinging open and a man walked into the hall from it. The man immediately made eye contact with the pair at the other end of the hall. There was an awkward eye contact between the two groups that seemed to go on for an eternity. The man suddenly broke the standoff as he quickly reached down to his belt and scrambled to pull his radio off of it. Tia grabbed his pistol from his holster as Liz lunged forward and moved her hand through the air in front of her with blue mist trailing behind it. Tia pulled the trigger as his gun pointed at the man letting out the click of an empty clip. The man continued to fumble to pull his radio out finally managing to unclip it as the blue mist grew closer and closer. He raised it to his mouth.
“Security brea…!” The man screamed into the radio before being cut off as the blue mist surrounded him.
The mist quickly turned to solid ice around the man encasing him entirely. Liz and Tia waited for a moment at nerves end.
“That was a close one… for a second their I thought we where…” Liz’s words were cut off as the hallway was suddenly bathed in a flashing red light.
