RIP to those poor guys who died in the Baltimore bridge collapse. That port is closed, there's no way a ship is getting in or out until the wreckage is cleared.

what ever happened to fertility cults. everyone was doing fertility cults and now theyre nowhere to be found. the abrahamics dont care about fertility at ALL it SUCKS. its a good theme! pregnancy is kind of magic. MAKING a PERSON. also its very mysterious and unreliable. perfect for magic. i guess we have fertility clinics now but they should have yknow. some flavor. some cool rocks around.

Hey there! I've been delving into the world of paganism lately, and I've found it incredibly intriguing. There's something I've been pondering, and I was hoping you could shed some light on it for me. I'm curious about the role of sacrifice and offerings within your faith. Could you share with me the significance behind these practices?
yeah i can try.
for me personally (i don't speak for all pagans), the fundamental nature of our relationship with the divine is one of reciprocity. and so we give offerings/sacrifices to the gods and, in return, they might give us their own gifts (their blessings, boons, favor, guidance, etc)
now, some people take this to mean that the gods are like a vending machine where you give x-input and receive y-output.
but that's not how it works. when we give there is no expectation or demand that they give us exactly what we want. we may hope, but it's never expected. we give out of love and devotion. just like we might give our friends gifts out of love and devotion.
and we never expect/demand our friends repay us for our gifts (at least, we shouldn't). but if the friendship is true then they will feel the desire to give you gifts in return. and this cycle of gift-giving is self-sustaining and perpetual.
and the gift you get in return won't always be immediately after you give your gift (though sometimes it might) and the value of the gift you receive may not be 1:1 with the value of the gift you gave. in fact, with the gods more often than not their gifts far outweigh anything we can ever give them (so gracious are they).
but the point is that it's more complex and organic than the vending machine metaphor suggests.
the basic idea behind sacrifice/offerings is gift-giving and reciprocity. out of love and devotion.
