I feel like we always focus on how Elain who was coming into her own in ACOSF until Lucien and then she “shrinks into herself” all of the new found boldness gone, but what about Lucien? In ACOTAR he was my fave, at one point I rooted for him to be with Feyre. Since the cauldron bond happened, I feel like Lucien around Elain is a shell of the Lucien I loved. But Feyre notices when he’s away from NC (Elain) he’s more like himself. I guess what I’m trying to word vomit here is that maybe this bond isn’t it for either Luc or Elain. They seem to be better versions of themselves when apart. I can go into specificities but I feel like they’ve all been quoted a lot. What if both grow together by breaking the bond to be apart? Day court powers meet cauldron blessed powers? I feel like those powers could break (or forge) bonds. And what an interesting story line for both of them to be happy apart.

Azriel was nothing short of beautiful. Even with those scarred hands and the shadows that flowed from him like smoke, she’d always found him to be the prettiest of the three males who called themselves brothers.

I get that appeal of the ‘mates’ trope, and the idea that there is a soulmate out there who’ll love you despite your flaws and all that, but imo isn’t it somehow sweeter for someone to love you so much they go against the mating bond? For someone to decide to ignore fate and destiny and all the higher powers because for them that one person is more important that all that? Their connection is even stronger than what fate had designed? Because that’s what elriel feels like to me, loving someone so much you’d go against a cosmically-decided bond to be with them <3

it’s so funny to me how people will slander nesta and elain for ‘noT doIng aNyThIng’ to help feyre (even when that isn’t strictly true, they probably did house maintenance tasks if feyre was out hunting all the time) but say nothing about their father? The grown-ass man? The parent in that situation?

It’s a real problem (irl and in media) that people just expect older siblings to take on a parental role, as if they, especially girls, were born to provide labour within a family.

What feyre did was incredibly brave and resourceful but it was not her responsibility. You can’t blame Nesta and Elain for not going out in the freezing winter or learning to hunt etc etc, when it’s wasn’t their job.

It was their right to be bitter, and their right to want their dad to get of his lazy ass and try to provide for them instead of their little sister. Maybe it wasn’t particularly brave or particularly kind, but it doesn’t make them horrible people.
