The Wound Begins to Bleed

The breakfast table was usually quiet. It was too early for bickering and getting more than a grunt out of Bruce that early took a global emergency, and sometimes not even that got him talking— just moving.

It had been Bruce, not Alfred, that had put his foot down about breakfast. Once a week, in addition to the case report breakfasts everyone physically able to attend came to, anyone living at the Manor was required to have breakfast in the formal dining room.

Whether this was an attempt to preserve some semblance of polished manners and habits, or something Bruce genuinely looked forward to, was unclear; he never missed one unless seriously injured or off-world, precise and disciplined in this as he was in most things outside of crises.

New Year’s Celebration - Batboys + Bruce

Bruce

As much as he hates it there is the annual New Year’s Wayne Gala

If it wasn’t for charity and to keep up the Bruce Wayne image he would have probably canceled years ago

Keeps up appearances and pretends to get drunk at the party

Donates a large sum of money to charity

Has had the same list of resolutions from previous years

Always something about catching someone specific as well as improving patrol systems and statistics

The other part of the list is dedicated to fixing relationships with the batboys

Somehow this section never truly gets completed

Dick

Is FeSTiVe

So happy that the year came to a close and is ready for the fresh start

Is forced to attend the Wayne Gala

But he doesn’t mind it that much if he is being completely honest

Loves all the attention he gets from being the oldest and the the most charming (the other boys disagree with the statement)

Flirts with everyone

Drinks some champaign

Is so appreciative that his whole family is together for one night

Has that content yet contemplative look when the fireworks start

Jason

Doesn’t really see the point in New Year’s

In his experience the biggest things don't change on occasion, but when you least expected it

Does appreciate the party and the expensive alcohol

Mostly the alcohol

The only time he even goes up to the manor out of his own free will

Christmas is way too emotional for him but New years had just the right amount of family and partying

Could not care less about the people there, in fact he will make an effort to not socialize with anyone

Dickie boy will try to introduce him to people and force Jason to play along with whatever persona he just made up, since you know, Jason is legally dead to the public

“Oh and let me introduce you my yoga instructor Joe.”

*Camera pan to Jason’s unamused face*

Will flip Dick off when the guests aren't looking and plot his revenge

Will never admit it but loves being around his brothers for a night where he doesn’t have to fight anyone

Tim

“Get off the damn computer it’s New Years Tim!”

“But lemme just finish!”

Very hard to get him stop working for anything

Will enjoy the party once you do

Is good at socializing, has had many parties to practice the art

Alfred will periodically catch him glancing at his tablet to monitor the person they are trying to catch

Gives him the Alfred look which is somehow much much worse than the Bat Glare

Tim wastes no time putting it away with a nervous smile

Will casually ask questions to guests that may be relevant in the current investigation

Absolutely uses the opportunity to get back at the Demon Spawn for something he has done lately

Does kind of enjoys the party

Jason offers him a glass of champaign (even though he can’t legally drink…)

Watches the fireworks with Dick

Damian

Doesn’t understand the celebration

He never really celebrated New Years when he lived with his mom

The first time was very weird for him

Like Tim, he prefer to be working or on patrol

HATES Wayne Galas with a passion

If he hears one more “Awww what a cutie you are!” he will sever someones head right off

Tim will introduce him to everyone and leave him trapped in a conversation he does not want to be part of to piss him off

As well as create ridiculous cover stories for any questions that have a Robin related answer

“Tim has told me you got that awful bruise  from falling onto a cooking pot…”

Gives Tim the most evil look he can muster eveyrtime their eyes meet

Tim just pleasantly smiles back

There shall be revenge though...

Is forced to watch the fireworks with the family out in the balcony

Dick will pick him up and put him on his shoulders so he can see over the crowd

“Grayson unhand me I can see just fine!”

Learning to Drive Headcanons- Batboys

Dick

Batman used to be a lot more strict about rules an laws

Dick was the first child, this was before the other 3 ( or 6? 7? who knows really…) rolled around and Bruce became a bit more chill with things

Learned to drive as soon as he legally could

Maybe once or twice before that when Bruce wasn’t looking

The world’s greatest detective eventually found out though, he was not pleased

Learned to drive back in the good old Robin days when he was the perfect Golden Boy

Read the driving manual

Bruce personally taught him to drive

“Dick for the last time, you will not learn how to drive on the Batmobile!”

The ride usually started pretty safe and gradually became more and more reckless as it went along

Usually ended with Bruce holding on the little handle at the top for dear life

Jason

A train wreck from start to finish

He “knew” how to drive before he met Bruce

And by that he meant he could hot wire a car and drive it far enough to crash in an alley

Bruce didn’t ask how he learned that, he worries enough about the boy

First time he drove after coming to live with Bruce was when he was grounded from patrol but really wanted to help

So he stole an older model of the Batmobile and drove out to find Bruce

Didn't make it past the gate

Alfred received a security alert that the gate had been breached with extreme force

Walks out with a loaded shotgun

Only to find a very wrecked old Batmobile, whats left of the gate and Jason pacing back and forth trying to figure out how he would explain it to Bruce

Once again, Bruce was not pleased

After the incident he decided to properly teach him to drive (Alfred’s advice)

“Ok Jason, now turn carefully. CAREFULLY!”

Tim

Actually did research before attempting to drive

Found the manual for the most common cars in Gotham as well as the one his father owned plus the ones Bruce owns

Knows where every bolt and screw is located on the car he is driving

Watched videos and read up on the best driving techniques

His father signed him up for driving school so he had a few lessons

After Dick and Jason, Bruce was very relieved that this one was not going to be a nightmare on wheels

But nevertheless he had to teach him how to drive drive

Like, being chased by criminals/trying to catch the next maniac without much damage drive

And there is the Batmobile

It’s one thing to know how to drive the Batmobile in theory, it’s a whole different experience when you are behind the wheel

After the first lesson he added more airbags and extra seatbelts

Damian

Has been driving since he was 3

Probably the best driver in the family

With that being said, he’s not allowed to drive

They used too keep a few phonebooks under the seats so should there be an emergency, and Damian had to drive, he would actually be able to reach the peddle

Only on emergencies though

There were enough “emergencies” for Dick to implement a lever that raises the drivers seat and the peddles

Bruce was not happy about this but Dick convinced him “Better safe than sorry”

And there was also that time where he stole the Batmobile

They still have dinner fights over that...

Starbucks Headcanons - Batboys + Bruce

Bruce

Will never go to Starbucks

There is nothing healthy there and the cheap coffee burns his sophisticated taste buds

Tim has tried to get him to try it so many times

Will ever only get anything should he be really really desperate

Like I haven’t slept in 3 days and I have three more hours of patrol desperate

Usually just opts for Alfred’s cappuccinos or some tea

Dick

Will sometimes get coffee before patrol

Mostly just gets coffee during the day

Orders a caramel frappuccino with extra whipped cream and extra caramel, “oh and also can you add some more chocolate?”

Is not even that big of a fan of chocolate but Bruce hates anything and everything unhealthy,  at this point its just to spite him

Small talks with the barista

It that one person who is having too nice of a day notice there is a line can you please chat somewhere else??

Also orders a kids size hot chocolate (kids temperature ofc)

Doesn’t blink when giving the barista his name even though they give him funny look

At least he knows there is no way to misspell ‘Dick’

Winks at the cute girl that just gave him his drink

Takes his time and tries every single lid before finding the one that fits

Walks over to the car where there is a grumpy 13-year-old sitting behind the wheel

Jason

Walks in as soon as they open

Looks like he had a rough night.

Hair is messy, white t-shirt, black leather jacket and a suspicious looking duffle bag, wait is that a gun poking out? should they call security??

“Don’t ask.” he said to the barista expressionless

takes his coffee and finds a chair overlooking the street

Totally just dumped some whiskey in his coffee

Takes a gulp like its nothing

is so not casually checking out the girl in the back

Tim

Black

Just black coffee

The barista already knows him and what his order is

Wastes no time with fruity drinks, he wants the most amount of caffeine possible per ml

Dumps 3 packets of sugar in (that extra sugar-high boast)

Is that one person who is barely able to walk to the coffee stand

“Ehh sir are you ok?”

“Yes, whys that?”

“You’re stirring your coffee with a fork.”

“Oh.”

The lid he put on doesn’t fit and he hasn’t even noticed

My poor son looks so tired, look at him he’s almost tripping over his own foot

After getting coffee is sitting in the corner with his laptop open, working while waiting for the caffeine to settle in so he can work some more

periodically glances over to see if anyone peaking at what he is doing

Bruce’s paranoia is rubbing off on him

Damian

Is not allowed to drink coffee

And he doesn’t see the point of being energized for a few hours only to crash afterward

And it tastes bad, not that he’ll ever admit it

Has a personal vendetta against Starbucks for all the times they spelled his name with an ‘e’ instead of an ‘a’

Doesn’t understand how you can misspell ‘Damian’ but they always do

Will often get dragged there by other members of the bat family

“Grayson, for the last time I don’t want anything!”

“But what should I get you?”

“I do not require anything!”

“Fine then, I’ll decide for you”

While he is gone he moves to the driver’s seat because it is a major inconvenience to have to stop, and he should at least get to drive back to the manor

Dick comes back and  they have the regular You Are Not driving debate

hands him a kids size cup of hot chocolate

Damian scowls all the way back while taking small sips
