My 'Detroit: Become human' phase is back so it's time for my thoughts.

I recently played dbh again and this time I focused more on markus.

Markus wasn't my favorite character before but now I'm older, more mature and finally have good taste.

When I went through the game for the first time I perceived the relationship between markus and carl as father and son. that's it. But now that I've played again I've noticed that it's not quite like that after all.

Yes Carl was always good to Markus and treated him like a friend and son, but I bet he was well aware that Markus "doesn't feel it".

For pre-deviant Markus, Carl was first and foremost his master. It is only deviant Markus who calls him 'dad' and sees what pre-deviant Markus did not pay attention to through his program.

I have a feeling that Carl may not have liked this master and slave relationship. After all, in the game we can see Carl trying to encourage Markus to do more like human things. he often asks him for his opinion on a specific topic, knowing that Markus' answer will probably be limited by his program.

Still, Carl was keenly aware that once Markus became more like a human, there would be no turning back. He would no longer be his domestic help. He will see more and feel more.

In fact, we see the real father and son relationship only at the end, when Markus returns to Carl's after attack on Jericho. Only then does Carl see him fully as a living being, unlimited by the program, and his son.

Carl knew that until Markus became a deviant there was no way he could even hope for Markus to see him as his father. Often in their scenes together you can see Markus smiling at Carl, but as soon as he turns away from him he adopts a neutral expression. I'm sure Carl also paid attention to this and recognized that he was unfortunately not dealing with a real human being, but a machine that is his slave.

When Markus finally breaks through his programming Carl sees in him who he always wanted to see in him.

Depending on the player's choice, Carl can see it dying or after Leo has been injured. In the latter, Carl is not even angry at Markus for what he did. He is frightened that he could lose both of his sons in that moment. He tells Markus to run away because they will kill him. (In the language version I played it sounded a bit more aggressive than in the original, which puzzles me a bit, so here I could be wrong lmao)

From what we can see in the game Carl has always tried to show Markus that how androids are treated by humans is unfair and he can change that. I think that if Carl hadn't "rised him" in this way Markus would have had more trouble breaking the software. In the game we could see Markus being attacked by protesters. More than once he was probably also attacked (I'm guessing mostly verbally) by Leo. The only thing these scenes differed in was that Carl in the scene in the studio forbade Markus to defend himself. This "order" went against everything Carl kept telling him.

Everyone rather knows why Carl ordered him to do so. After all, Markus is an android who could easily kill Leo. However, this was something inconsistent with what he taught him. Carl kept saying that such behavior was unfair and suddenly expected the same from Markus.

Did Carl do wrong at the time? this is quite a difficult question.

We know one thing, probably if not for this Markus would have continued to remain a machine. After all, we have seen leo's verbal attacks on markus before and he never looked like he wanted to do anything to him or treat him the same way. he was always calm and composed.

Maybe the very fact that Markus was then treated like a machine by someone who had always treated him like a human (or almost human) made him able to break his program.

Markus is a really interesting character.

And yes, I know it's just a simple game and most of what I wrote are just theories, because the game only shows a few days in the life of three androids.

I just like to analyze such things, and maybe someone had similar thoughts.

I also know that probably the creators didn't even think about it and it's just a loophole in the plot.

A large part of people say that Nick is abusive and toxic because of how he treated Abigail before his transformation into a werewolf.

They explain it by the fact that Dylan and Max behaved very differently.

Dylan was also aggressive when Kaitlyn wouldn't leave him alone.

As for Max, if you choose the option without sympathy in the scene before the transformation where Laura is pinned to the radiator, Max is also very aggressive and calls his girlfriend a "bitch." She was shocked and scared because of it . Max himself the next day after seeing the recording seems disgusted with himself and what he did to Laura. When asked by her if he can control it, he is downright outraged at how she could have thought he had hurt her consciously.

People before the transformation, as a rule, are more aggressive and irritable. all it takes is one bad word and they can become very aggressive. this is most evident precisely in Max, who, after all, loves Laura and would not want to hurt her.

What’s your guys favorite part of the quarry’s ending?

I personally like when Laura, Travis, and Ryan came back to the lodge to find Kaitlyn and Dylan sitting on the steps and how Ryan immediately went up to both of them, sat down, and started holding Dylan’s remaining hand. It was nice seeing him ask if this was a good time to give Dylan his number and then seeing Dylan smile. I will say though Emma, Abi, and Jacob searching for Nick after Travis explained the curse and how Nick would be cured now was cute. And Emma holding Abis hand on the way to find Nick since abi was still very shaken up and actually kind of scared to see him again was very sweet. So glad we got actual closure and all this actually happened in the game isn’t that so cool guys!!

Who is the worst character in the quarry and why is it Constance Hackett?

I literally can't even listen to her and wonder why laura hasn't been knocked her down before.

When the gun went off in her face I was like "yeah finally".

Travis was a bad person for how he treated Laura and Max in prison, but I still felt bad for him in the scene where he talked to his mother.

The way Constance expresses herself about counselors was awful or the way she talked about Nick in werewolf form as if her grandchildren and son weren't infected at all either.

Yes, of course, I understand that she lost her granddaughter and had been afraid for her family for several years and the counselors only made things more difficult. Even so, that still doesn't excuse her in how she treated her family member, Travis. Literally the guy sacrificed the last 6 years of his life to help his family, and still they treat him like he's unimportant. When he shot Chris in self defense he immediately started threatening him that he's gonna tell their mom like dude you're grown ass man lmao

Hackett family is the game antagonist, but Constance... I can't stand this woman

The Quarry headcanons

one big mix about everyone and everything

English is not my first language, so I apologize for all mistakes.

- Ryan only shares headphones with people he trusts. Ryan suggests you listen to music/podcasts from his headphones? he loves you.

- On the first day of camp, Dylan created a playlist for Ryan that he just loved and listened to whenever he could.

- I wondered at first what an Australian was doing at a summer camp in New York. So I looked up the origin of the name Furcillo. I found out that this surname is popular in the usa among people of Italian origin. My hc therefore is: Nick has Italian roots but was born and raised in Australia. As for his presence in America, I added that his sister is living there and he always wanted to live with her.

- As for Nick's siblings: Nick is the youngest of 7 siblings. I found out that his actor has 6 siblings and in my opinion, that fits Nick's character so well.

- Nick has sight defect and usually wears harry potter like glasses but he switched them to lenses for the summer camp because he was scared that people would make fun of him. (that hc is also bc of Nick's actor)

- Nick has a lazy eye

- Dylan is demisexual biromantic or demisexual homoromantic (I don't know what a canon sexuality of dylan is so I'll leave two options)

- There is one thing, however, that Nick likes more than the others. It is cooking and baking.

- When Nick was a child he wanted to be a baker. But he didn't tell anyone about it because he was afraid that someone would make fun of him for it.

- Emma has wanted to be popular since childhood. Before being an influencer, she wrote fan fiction. This is how she discovered her love for writing.

- Emma was not popular as a child. she always stood aside. She decided to change that when she went to high school.

- Abigail is from a family of artists.

- Abigail loves reading.

- Abi also loves to write letters.

- Abigail also loves calligraphy. She has always been the type of person you take notes from. Then she got into it more and now it has become one of her hobbies.

- Laura has wanted to be a doctor since she was a child. However, with time she realised that she loved animals and wanted to be a vet.

- Jacob has a terrible sens od direction.

- I wanted to somehow explain to myself the fact that Kaitlyn was so good with guns, so a hc was born in my head that there was some kind of woodsman in her family and she was very interested in that as a child.

- Abigail designed her tattoo herself.

- Nick loves the survival programs.

- Kaitlyn is interested in photography.

- Jacob is a very emotional and sensitive person.

- Kaitlyn and Jacob were very popular at school. However, Kaitlyn was much more popular and everyone liked her.

- Kaitlyn is the type of person that both teachers and students love.

- Kaitlyn's best friend since childhood was Jacob. No one has ever become more liked by her than this idiot.

- I can bet that Jacob and Kaitlyn's friendship started when she saved him from some older kids. Maybe someone took his toy or something and he started crying and Kaitlyn wanted to comfort him.

- Most of Nick's siblings are sisters (maybe even all of them. I like to think Nicky has 6 sisters I don't know why lmao)

- Jacob is the class clown type and everyone takes advantage of the fact that he does before he thinks. Kaitlyn acts as his voice of reason.

okay but imo refusing to kiss Nick in the woods is much more interesting than the kiss. yes, it looks cool and Nick officially falls in love with Abi, but when they don't kiss there is a really interesting conversation that is way better. through this conversation you can find out a lot about their feelings and relationship, and without this it all seems very shallow. what's more interesting is that the Nick seems a bit sus because he doesn't say everything to Abi. He has strongly suggested that he is not without fault and is not proud of certain things he has done.

He is hiding something and I wonder if it connects to what he said to Abi moments before turning into a werewolf

I wonder about one thing.

Since Laura and Max were trapped by the policeman for 2 months there was already one full moon during the camp.

So why did Mr H. react the way he did when he found out that the Counselors would stay one more night?

It is known that he might have been afraid that they would not listen to him, as it happened.

However, this is as dangerous as a full moon during the camp. How could Chris know that any of the kids wouldn't come out at night? Or worse any of the werewolves would get into any of the cabins?
