Hey, quick question here :) Does the novel explain how big Haiji's scar actually is or what his injury is called? because in the anime it's this huge scar and in the movie it's so small plus Haiji has always a tape on it so you can't see it that much. We know how it happend but I like details. >_
Answering this a bit later because I went full nerd to fact check on stuff, but around autumn on his first year of high school, Haiji developed what was known as 疲労骨折 or stress fracture (aka fatigue fracture). And because he ignored his doctor’s advise and continued to train, he tried to run in a way that would reduce the stress on his calf, but that only resulted in complications and he ended up with a 膝蓋骨を剝離骨折, or Patella fracture, (aka a broken kneecap) and surgery had to be done to remove part of a bone splinter that was wedged between his knee joint. No mention of length of scar.
Why do facts hurt me so.
