What about thee meow meow blorbo of whump - Malcolm Bright. I feel like Prodigal Son didn't get the attention it deserved. Fox made a huge mistake cancelling it. His whump magnet is so strong even the actual show writers couldn't stop doing it. Hardly an episode passed without some act of emotional or physical violence. He's pretty, sad, daddy issues, lacks social skills, and throws himself into danger. What else could you want?

Do you have any recommendations for the “take me instead” trope?? Idk why but I am currently OBSESSED with that trope!!

One of my FAVORITE examples is Hawaii Five-0 10x22 when Steve tells God that if he wants to take someone, he better take him and not Danny. Fucking love that scene.

Another good one is Lucifer literally any time Chloe is in danger but my favorite is when he got shot in 1x13 and he begs his dad to protect Chloe and he'll do anything he wants.

Do you read YA a lot? I’m 31, but as a sex-repulsed ace, I realized that while I would /love/ to read about people closer to my age (idunno maybe like 25-35), teen/YA is usually safer from sexual content…

Where are the sex-free whumpy found-family fantasy books about adults???

I do on occasion read YA but not very often anymore as I definitely prefer protags closer to my age and romance books aren't my favorite and I feel like most YA books focus way too much on love triangles and romance.

Oh my god I would LOVE some whumpy, sex/romance free, found family fantasy books for adult!! I WOULD LOVE THAT WITH MY WHOLE BEING!! Those kinds of stories are so hard to find!!!!

thinking about this thing v

the "Man-Catcher", used throughout Europe in the 18th century. Despite the spikes, it was not used to harm. Thanks to the spring-loaded bits at the front, it had enough wiggleroom for a neck to slip through, but not escape. It was used to knock knights from their horses and keep them subdued, either to end a fight, or to ransom the knight off. Versions of it are still used today, but they look less cool in my opinion .

Holy crap that thing is CRAZY!!!!! WHAT!!! A Man-Catcher hahaha. But damn that would be great to incorporate into a whump fic! I like it.

No because hear me out. You get a lot of physical whump. Male AND female. In the first season we got recovering from a crash, addiction, angsty angsty angsty, shot, witnessing something traumatic, relapse, emotional , crying, hurt/comfort, betrayal, double crossing, downward spirals, major character death-

Season 2 we got all of the same plus more (beat up, hitting rock bottom, stabbed, grief, break up, injury recovery)

And then last season, season 3, again all of the same plus more recovery, losing control, more major character death, cover-ups, confessions. My friend it is whumpderland (whump wonderland!)

I read Alex Rider a bunch when I was bored at school and it's so funny constantly he's just like I Don't Want To Fucking Do This. The series ends with him finally able to Not Fucking Do This. What a guy.

are you still planning your gif event in august? if so, do you have any of the details planned?

Yes I am still planning on a gif making event in August!!! This past month has been super super hectic so I haven't had time to even think let alone plan it more BUT! I have a lot of it planned out. It's gonna be fairly simple I think just cause I've never run an event myself before so I don't really know what to expect. I've got the prompts mostly planned out (simple things I think gifmakers will be able to easily work with. I hope lol) and some graphics made and I've got a name and blog all seized and ready to go. I'm hoping to have it all set to go to be announced in May or June.

So yes I do still plan on making that event!! I hope everyone likes it!
