I took of from work Monday and drove 15 hours to see totality with Neptune, Meadow, and Blaze (6 hours there, 9 hours back) and I did not think I would still be exhausted three days later.

It was worth it though.

We live in a zone that will get almost 90% coverage at the eclipse on Monday. Just got hilariously opposite emails from my kids' schools about their policies.

Girls school: Since it's so close to dismissal time, we'll line all the students up at the front playground with the things and give out the special glasses and give our science curriculum coordinator a megaphone to explain what's going on.

Boys school: We will cover all windows and not let anyone outside. If your regular dismissal time is during the hours where the sun is even slightly covered, you are getting dismissed twenty minutes after the sun fully uncovered so there is no chance you will be outside.

Why can't I find a long-sleeve ballet leotard that has a crew neck? Not boat neck, scoop neck, or mock turtle? All the ones with proper necklines have no sleeves.

I should start a business. That will have like no target audience besides my daughter.

It's been taking Dawn (6) longer and longer to fall asleep and I am so frustrated. It used to be that I'd sit outside her room with my laptop for like 15 minutes and she'd be out.

Now she pops up every 15 minutes to tell me she's scared. It's 9:52pm and she's not sleeping. And she's keeping everyone else up. So at 10 minutes to 10pm, Chuck (2) is asleep. Atara (3) is asleep. Arthur (7) is asleep, but just barely. He fell asleep after 9:30.

I'm just very frustrated. I don't know how I'm going to do my college work and also produce a yearbook and also be an effective teacher (and mother) if I'm not starting to work until 10 every night.

They're predicting 4-8 inches of snow tomorrow in our area, from around 6am until 12 noon.

Every single girls' school - including where I teach - has already called off EXCEPT for the school where my daughters go. And Chuck's daycare follows their schedule.

Many of the boys' schools have already called, off, too, but I will be very surprised if Arthur's school calls off.

So right now I'm looking at a day off where all my kids are in school!
