PSA - If you don't want your pets anymore...
(Unrelated to ACNL, but please spread!)
Then don’t you even dare release them into the wild. My parents own a pet store and we’ve just had a customer come in to tell us that he had found a 1-2 year old CORN SNAKE in his back garden. Corn snakes are not native to England, nor are they suited to surviving in the British countryside. If you release any pets which are not native to your country then the odds are that THEY WILL DIE in a matter of days. England is far too cold to accommodate a corn snake, which thrives in warm climates. This goes for any pet. Releasing small animals like lizards, hamsters, tortoises, reptiles etc etc is as good as throwing them off a bridge. They will definitely die.
Please, if you have any unwanted pets then try to find animal welfare centres to take them off your hands. If you can’t find any, then please give them to your nearest pet store. Most of the time we will try to resell them to a loving home (sometimes if we can’t we’ll end up giving them to organisations like the RSPCA). Please do not just release them because they’ll either die from hypothermia or starvation. Animals born and raised in captivity do not have the knowledge or skills to provide for themselves in the wild.
tldr; Releasing unwanted pets will kill them. Don’t do it or else I’ll hurt you.

Old and new followers, please read this!
Okay guys, real talk!
This blog has over 1.6k followers and considering the amount of notes I’m frequently getting, at least 1/3 of you are still active.
THIS IS ABOUT HACKING AND YOU GETTING FREE STUFF!
Some of you might remember that I did massive giveaways in the past and frequently took requests from other players..
So I might be able to hack AND play online again but that’d mean I’d have to put time, effort and resources into it. That would mean for YOU, that I’d be able to do giveaways and take requests again.
My giveaways from the past
My requests from the past (a few)
HOWEVER, I WILL NOT be doing this if I won’t get enough feedback from you guys! Sure, I’m doing this for my own share of fun and stuff, but also for you all, so if there’s barely any demand, I won’t even bother.
So like, reblog or give me feedback to this post so I will know that you’re all interested to take me up on this.
Thank!

Please don’t edit this post as all information is below a ‘Read more’! If you need something added or changed, let me know and I’ll gladly do it for you!

Q&As
I get quite a lot of messages regarding people’s firmwares and whether or not they’re able to hack and some general queries, so I’ll relate all future asks relating to this stuff to this post.
I'm on 10.2+ firmware version. What are my choices?
If you don't have Homebrew, Cubic Ninja, Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Smash Bros or Ironfall (doesn’t work anymore) with their respective hack installed, then you cannot hack AC:NL.
Can I restore an old digital garden.dat savegame?Yes, but you will need the current secure NAND value.
Make a dump of the current AC:NL savegame (even if you are going to overwrite it).
Open the old garden.dat savegame in the editor
Go to the Advanced tab and load the newest garden.dat here. That will turn your old savegame into a valid savegame for the console.
The ram editor links you posted earlier aren’t working! Help!
Actually they are. Chances are you’re just not inputting the URL correctly or haven’t cleared your browsing history / cookies. Nonetheless, there will always be a working ram inject/dump link on the official editor website.
I’m making a new town in a few days time, can you hold some items for me?
No, sorry. As much as I’d love to help I simply don’t have the time.
Can we play online sometime? I’m really interested in seeing your town!
Maybe, it depends on whether I’m feeling it. Lately I haven’t been playing ACNL at all because I’m sort of growing frustrated with the game (specifically how animal’s dialogues are recycled, so the social aspect of the game isn’t as appealing to me any more.. I’m rambling on. I’ll stop). As for my town, it’s not interesting in the slightest. If you search “Jarrad” in the dream suite and come across a town called Nintown then that’s my current town. It has no hacks whatsoever. Sorry.
What “new” hacks are there?
None, really. All of the most recently discovered hacks aren’t new since a minute number of people have known about them from day one (most notably the TPC image hack), but haven’t released them due to the fear of them being abused.
Do you know how to hack ACHHD?
No. I don’t play like it enough to bother hacking.
Can you help me with hacking my town?
Absolutely! That’s why I created this blog! All of the necessary material you could ever need to hack your town is somewhere on my blog!
Thanks guys :)

How to hack w/ an old firmware
Requirements
old Nintendo 3DS/XL or 2DS at 9.x up to 9.5.0-22 (excluding 9.5.0-12 and 9.5.0-23 or higher)
retail/digital version of AC:NL (if using japanese version, you will also need 1.1 patch)
a HTML5-capable browser (recommended: Firefox)
Configuration
You will only need to do this once.
Open 3DS Internet Browser
Go to Settings (tap on Menu and the wrench icon)
Scroll down to Clear All Save Data and tap it (warning: this will delete all your bookmarks)
Go to http://bit.ly/acnl_hack in your 3DS Internet Browser
Click on RAM > SD
Add this page to your bookmarks (tap on Menu then Add)
Go back and click on SD > RAM
Add this page to your bookmarks (tap on Menu then Add)
Edit both recently added bookmarks and remove the -remove- word in their URLs (including dashes) (go to Bookmarks, tap on the wrench icons next to bookmarks)
Note for old RAM hackers: delete acnl_dump.bin, acnl_injc.bin and acnlram.bin from your SD card. Do not skip this step.
Dump RAM
Run AC:NL in your console and get ingame, making sure you can already move your character
Press home button and open 3DS Internet Browser
Go to Bookmarks and select AC:NL RAM > SD
Wait a few seconds, it will show a green screen, crash and go back to the home menu
(optional) Return back to the game and save (if you don't want to see Resetti later)
Power down the console, take out the SD card and put in the PC
Inject RAM
Open acnlram.bin file with AC:NL Save Editor and edit it to your desire
Save the edited town as acnlram.bin in the SD (make sure you are overwriting the original file)
Insert the SD card in the console
Run AC:NL and get ingame, making sure you can already move your character
Press home button
Go to Bookmarks and select AC:NL SD > RAM
Wait a few seconds, it will show a green screen, crash and go back to the home menu
Return back to the game, go inside your home and then go outside again. Your changes should be there!
Important notesEverytime you want to edit your save you will need to dump it first to the SD.
If you don't do it, you will be injecting old versions of your RAM and that could glitch your savegame later.
Make sure you always inject the latest RAM, dump it before editing as it's explained here and you will be fine.
Also, do not inject a RAM that was dumped using another player. Always inject on the same player. For example, if you dumped RAM using your mayor player, you must inject it using him/her again.

AC:NL Custom TPC Image Guide
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damages this tutorial may cause. Back up your saves before attempting.
AC:NL Custom TPC Image Guide
Requirements:
3DS running homebrew or CFW
Hex editing software (I use HxD in this tutorial)
NLSE (If using the homebrew method or have CFW on 10.3+)
Digital or cartridge version of AC:NL
Step 1: Obtaining your RAM file
How you’ll be obtaining your RAM file depends on whether you have access to homebrew or CFW.
If you’re running CFW (10.2 and below ONLY), follow this guide on how to dump your “acnlram.bin” file.
If you’re running CFW (10.3+), install JK’s SaveManager to obtain your gamesave folder with your “garden.dat” file.
If you’re running homebrew, use whatever save manager’s available. This guide is written mainly for CFW users, however after obtaining your gamesave folder with your garden.dat file, the process is identical.
Step 2: Creating your image
When creating the image you want as your custom TPC, keep in mind that the game has a few limitations. Follow these constraints **carefully*, or else you’ll overwrite important data within your game’s RAM file.
image MUST be in .jpeg format
image MUST be no larger than 4000 bytes (4kb). Any larger might overwrite values within your RAM file. That’s bad news.
image must have a resolution of 64x104 px. This isn’t as important as the others, but it’s a good idea to stay within the default frame size of the original TPC window. Anything else will make the image look shitty.
I’d recommend making a quick test image in MS Paint just to see if it works. Then once you’ve become familiar with the process, repeat it with a copy of your backup you made in the begining. You might be able to get away with editing the already-edited RAM file again, but I wouldn’t risk it. It’s better just to start over on a fresh backup.
Step 3a: Hex editing (acnlram.bin)
This is where things get tricky, so read carefully. I’ve split this section into (a) and (b) depending on which method you’ve used to obtain your saves.
If you’ve obtained an acnlram.bin file, great. Your life just got a whole lot easier. You’ll be able to edit this file directly instead of having to decrypt the RAM from a savegame file if you were using the other methods. REMEMBER TO MAKE A BACKUP.
Open your “acnlram.bin” file in HxD.
Click SEARCH>FIND in the top toolbar.
Enter “FFD8” without the quotes and change the search datatype from “Text-string” to “Hex-values”, click OK.
HxD should locate the blocks and highlight “FF D8” in blue. This is where the hex data for your TPC image currently starts. Keep this window open.
We are now going to inject our custom picture into our RAM file.
Open another HxD window.
Drag and drop your image (remember, it MUST follow the constraints mentioned previously) into HxD to convert it to hex.
Click EDIT>SELECT ALL in the top toolbar to select all of the hex data that makes up your image.
With all of that data copied, go back to your HxD window where “acnlbin.ram” is opened.
Locate the “FF D8” value again, click your cursor just before the “FF” block so that it begins to blink before the first “F”.
Confirm that HxD is on “OVERWRITE” mode by looking at the toolbar on the bottom of your screen. It should be on “OVERWRITE” mode by default.
Click “EDIT>PASTE WRITE” to paste and overwrite the original TPC image data with your custom image data.
You’ve successfully injected your custom image into your “acnlram.bin” file. Save and place the RAM file onto the root of your SD card, inject it into your game. Confirm that your TPC has changed.
Step 3b: Hex editing (save folder)
If you’ve obtained your game’s save folder instead of an “acnlram.bin” file, you have a few extra steps to perform.
Open NLSE, drag and drop your save folder into its window, click “garden.dat” to open up the save editor.
At the bottom right of the screen is an option to EXPORT RAM. This will decrypt the RAM file within your save and spit out an “acnlram.bin” file that you can edit.
Once you’ve obtained your “acnlram.bin” file from your gamesave file, follow the instructions in Step 3a: Hex editing (acnlram.bin) to edit your RAM file.
After editing your ram file, go back to NLSE. Look in the bottom right corner again, and select IMPORT RAM this time.
Select your edited “acnlram.bin” file and it will be imported into your gamesave. You can confirm that you’ve successfully injected your custom image by checking if your character’s TPC image has changed at the bottom.
After confirming that your image has changed, put the save folder back onto your SD card, following whatever save editor homebrew app you used, and re-import your gamesave folder through that app.
