Azriel’s hazel eyes glowed golden in the shadows. Nesta said, “Then you will die.” Azriel only repeated, rage glazing that stare, “I’m getting her back.”

What's more interesting is that Elain was bound with chains.

Elain was in her nightgown. Gagged, wrists wrapped in steel that glowed violet. Her eyes went wide as she saw us—Azriel and me—

we know from Feyre that she couldn't feel Rhys when he was bound with them.

I stared at my palm—at the eye inked there—and sent a blind thought through it, down that bond. Where are you? Tell me and I’ll come to you. I’ll find you. There was no wall of onyx adamant at the end of the bond. Only endless shadow. Things—great, enormous things—were rustling in the forest. Rhysand. No response. The last of the light slipped away. Rhysand, please. No sound. And the bond between us … silent. I’d always felt it protecting me, seducing me, laughing at me on the other side of my shields. And now … it had vanished.

They’d found strange chains of bluish stone to spread his arms, suspending him from either wall of the cave. His body sagged from them, his back a ravaged slab of meat. And his wings …

Lastly we have azriel saying this to cassian...

Cassian stared toward the castle. “You think she’s alive?” The question haunted him with every breath these last few days. “You’d know if she’d died,” Azriel said, pausing his work and looking up at Cassian. He tapped his brother’s chest with a scarred hand. “Right here—you’d know, Cass.”

Okay so at this point I seriously don’t give a shit who Elain ends up with as long as it’s her choice. As it stands, it looks like that is Azriel because she is genuinely attracted to and connects with him (and don’t you ever forget that is something mutually felt between them). This chick got:

kidnapped

drowned

forced into a mating bond she didn’t want

vilified by someone she thought she had a future with

misunderstand by even her own sisters and for a second lost her own freaking sanity

has had ONE SINGLE PERSON (Azriel) try to understand her

was kidnapped AGAIN

watched her father be murdered

killed the freaking King of Hybern with a borrowed knife

almost lost her two sisters multiple times

was brutally ridiculed by the one sister who should’ve understood her most

Is trying her best to find a place she can help the others but is told she’s not strong enough

FINALLY she wants to be with someone who she likely feels guilty for being attracted to instead of who she’s “supposed” to want

She deserves to be the one to choose who she gets to spend the rest of her existence with. She’s been taking these blows like a freaking champ and rolling with what she’s been forced into. She should get what is right for her, just like the others. She deserves an entire book dedicated to her finding where she belongs no matter what it looks like in relation to the other characters.

DO NOT PRETEND LIKE SHE IS WEAK JUST BECAUSE SHE HAS FREAKING HOBBIES AND IS BEING STRONG ENOUGH TO TRY TO FIND HAPPINESS IN HER DUMPSTER FIRE OF A SITUATION. SHE IS PORTRAYING A DIFFERENT KIND OF STRENGTH FEW PEOPLE HAVE. SORRY SHES JUST INTO FLOWERS AND NOT DAGGERS EVEN THOUGH SHES ALWAYS BEEN WILLING TO USE ONE WHEN NEEDED.
