Skybreakers are the funniest Radiant Order because they have actual procedures and continuity and they know what Ideals they’re going to say more than ten seconds before they say them while everyone else is just randomly discovering what they can do as it happens like “Huh, I can recover from Shardblade injuries”  “I hung out with Kaladin a lot and now I’m glowing”  “My friend can turn into a fork I guess”

When I first got into Stormlight Archive, my worst fear was this: Dalinar will die. I thought of him as such a Gandalf kind of character (old, wise, trying to lead others to do right) in Sean Bean's body (before I learned about Alethi's more... Asian look, sorry) that I was constantly afraid he'll die. This fear reached its peak when I heard Oathbringer is a Dalinar-focused book. I remember thinking, 'oh no, now that Dalinar's had his book, Sanderson will have no more use for him, he'll get killed off for sure in book 4.'

Now I have a new fear: Adolin will die. If Adolin dies, Dalinar will be sad (stop sending your son carelessly into danger, old man), Renarin will be sad, Jasnah will be sad, Navani will be sad, Shallan will be destroyed I'm pretty sure, and Kaladin will be sad too. Kaladin will find some reason to blame himself, you know he will. One death resulting in so much plot-ful feelings for so many main characters! It's just so efficient!

I have such cheerful thoughts about the characters I love.

One of my favourite big DM moods is when you literally tell PCs what is about to happen with dreams, prophecy, fortune tellers, legends ETC, and then when it happens, they're all like??? How could I have foreseen this??? This?? Shocking thing that happened to me????

Once I had a fortune teller tell one player to be wary of a High Elf they would meet soon, and another to never accept a cup of tea from a stranger. Within the hour, a High Elf they had never met before offered them a cup of tea. They had the AUDACITY to be surprised when they were poisoned.

D&D humour is the weirdest thing in the world. My last adventure, I had the PCs on a mythical island, days travel from land, investigating a cursed temple. They met some of the locals, living in the forests, hunting and performing blood sacrifice.

After a while of speaking with the matriarch of the clan and her daughters, encouraging them not to outright murder them, they asked their names.

Honestly, when I said their names were Janet, Becky and Hayley, I thought they were going to burst a blood vessel.

First series I read was Mistborn Era 1. I remember getting to the end, and I just thought it was the mostly profoundly beautiful thing, and it was so crystal clear I could not believe I'd ever believed differently. Given the story and the pain that had led up to it, it was a also beautifully sad. I just read it with tears running down my face, I could hardly read. It was probably the first time I'd cried from that sort of heartache and empathy for a character.

What’s a good memory you have from reading your first Sanderson book?

For me, my first was The Way of Kings, (I know, not the best way to start the Cosmere) it was 2018 and at lunchtime I would read it at a barbecue place near my school. The chili Mac was awesome, and I was starting to warm up to this Kaladin guy.

Do you do recs for the neuro-divergent? I'm super dyslexic with a touch of ADHD, and have only ever read one series with a dyslexic character (Lightbringer series), and even that wasn't done particularly well. Any recommendations?

I know of Spellwright by Blake Charlton, which is a fantasy novel with a dyslexic protagonist by a dyslexic author. I read it when I was in middle school and can’t remember much about it, but I think it’d work for what you’re looking for. 

I haven’t read either of these, but I know Prosperity by Alexis Hall and Werecockroach by Polenth Blake have dyslexic protagonists.

It would be remiss of me if I didn't point this out to the good people of Tumblr. Brandon Sanderson is probably my all time favourite author ever. People rave about him constantly for really good reasons. Super worth grabbing this book, you're looking at maybe 25-30 hours of free reading and nobody gonna argue with that.

I mean, the free giveaway definitely has something to do with book 4 being out in about 6 months, so not totally convinced it's out of kindness. Either way, this series is so so worth reading.

Bonus: you can join a (relatively) small but dedicated fandom which hijacks any posts about crabs or sticks with no explanation.

One of my favourite things in the world is doing a DnD mystery arc highly dependent on letters and codes, while simultaneously being the most dyslexic person I've ever met.

My players spent like, 20 minutes on a coded letter, before they realised that the grammatical error wasn't a key. I'm just an idiot.
