heyhey! A little celebration because in this period two great things happened to me 😊

first thing first: I am graduating from University, yay! And, last but not least, my blog has now more than 3K followers! You guys are incredible!

To celebrate these amazing goals, I have decided to celebrate. But how?

You're Adas Roommate and She Falls in Love with You Part 2 (Modern Au)

this woman makes me want to wet myself I'm no even kidding 

you guys have never argued like this before

or really ever

just like that Ada is back to eating alone

she's not coming back to the smell of baking 

its hard to explain to how much it hurts to hear you around the flat and know you're that but that you're both trying your hardest to avoid each other;

 you don't know what you've done wrong and you're upset that Ada doesn't seem to want to be mates with you anymore 

Ada just feels so guilty about the whole situation that she can't even bring herself to speak to you 

its a week and a but before Ada realises she has to do something 

she buys your favourite flowers and plans on getting home and cooking you a big meal as an apology, hoping that somewhere in this baking fiasco she will be able to think of some way of explaining why she said what she said

but when she gets back the flat its just a bit too quiet

she waits around for you to get back in and when it starts getting dark she starts to worry

when she goes to the bathroom she notices your toothbrush is gone

its just little things, but all the bits you'd have in the flat that you used every day 

it kinda dawns on her that you've gone and she just chucks all the food out and goes to cry on Polly shoulder

who wouldn't 

i bet she gives great hugs

“what should i do Pol? do i call her?”

Polly sits and listens to all her scenarios of how to win you back, knowing that she will tell Ada just to give you your space  

and obviously thats not the solution she wants to hear but for once in Polly’s  life a Shelby is actually gonna take her advice and not just do the complete opposite

with every passing day Ada gets less and less hopeful you'll come back

she was waiting on the text to tell her to just pack the rest of your stuff and leave it in the street for you 

and tbh as much as it would hurt she’d do it for you if thats what you wanted because she would do anything for you 

on day four though you were back 

she's having breakfast and you just kinda pop through the door like 

“hi, how y'all doin”

she's got no clue what to say to you at all

she hadn't rehearsed this scenario in her head 

you shuffle over and give her a hug and she's like 

wtf is happening 

but then obviously she hugs back 

“I'm sorry for whatever i did Ada i really am”

“you didn't do anything wrong it was all me”

girly happy tears hug 

Ada is so happy to see you again 

like she literally can't breath she's so happy 

its been only like 5 days but still

and she never wants this hug to end

EVER!

she's just soaking in the feeling of your warm arms around her and the smell of your hair

the feeling of your face pressed into the side of her neck 

having a movie night together to make up for all the time you guys missed eachother

5 days in lesbian time is like 2 years 

you watch all the twilights. all of them. 

bringing you quilts into the living room and cuddling on the sofa together

ada still feels a bit guilty about just how much her heart races when you guys cuddle but she's too happy you're back to think about that

playing with Adas hair like friends do until she falls asleep

this hen do is just a massive piss up to be honest, the whole family love going a little too far 

you all end up on the dance floor and Ada bumps into Freddie

who she hasn't seen in years 

you're at the table and can see them dancing together so you ask the girls who he is 

lizzie filling you in on their history together 

distant history but still history 

seeing how close he is to Ada makes you feel sick

weirdly enough i was going through a Michael phase when i got this request so thank you @midwinternightz for making my dreams come true

this isn't a song fic, but if it was, id tag Sweet Creature by Harry Styles because i can imagine Michael being a massive HS stan js - this is your song 

 Oh god where to begin

i get the feeling that Michael isn't one to make the first move

hes confident but also a bit like cocky? like too arrogant to ask someone out 

you start working at the garrison to make a bit of money and Arthur isn't sure about having a young girl behind the bar at first but you're such a hit

everyone just loves you, especially Jonny dogs 

he loves you a bit TOO much 

but you can hold your own and aren't afraid to break up a fight or two

seeing the peaky boys daily, you're working at their watering hole after all

you catch Michaels eye but he's just too gosh darn cool to admit it 

Hes probably the one you speak to least, i feel like all the other peaky juniors are much more talkative 

but boy does he LOVE drinking so you slowly but surely begin to get more comfortable with him

you're the chatty one

i feel like he just sits and listens to you most of the time 

you're not even sure if he's listening tbh 

but he starts to stay later, you notice he's still there at close, sitting at the bar nursing the rest of his whisky 

and he will listen to you talk about the day

he's surprised by how much he likes your voice

he offers to walk you home one night and this starts to become a regular thing

Arthur was usually the one to walk you home, but when he couldn't make it for whatever reason he would call Finn up to do it 

because he kinda wanted to see you too together

hes considerably pissed off when he sees Michael waiting for you outside instead of his brother

he lets you leave with him but only because Arthur has a masterplan in mind for getting you and Finn married

he tries to get Polly and Ada involved

hes ADMINT and he won't rest until he's got you on his arm and he's walking you down the aisle to Finn

nobody quite understands why Arthur is so invested in you and Finn being an item, and god bless him he's not gonna get his way

everyone else thinks you and Michael have a good ying and Yang thing going on

but not Arthur

and he will continue to try and convince them all of this 

you're goods friends by this point 

Michael has a angsty side that only you take seriously 

you don't make him feel like his problems are mundane like the rest of his family 

he comes to you over Polly and she knows this 

she's probably a bit jealous, she's its got her son back after all 

and now he'd rather speak to some barmaid over his own blood?

but Polly likes you a lot, and so she doesn't make your life hell like should would any other girl she felt was taking what was hers

Michael is a serious guy, but you bring out the fun side of him 

which makes his presence more bearable for everyone involved

Michael only realises he's actually interested in you when he starts to notice  all the male attention you get and how much it bothers him

you're a pretty girl, and everyone knows the way to these mens hearts is through cheap beer or Scottish whisky 

naturally, you're the apple of most garrison goers eyes

jealous michael is a grumpy michael 

Polly rolling her eyes at this behaviour 

“if you want her you have to tell her, Michael, she's not a mind reader” 

he can't lie though, he's a little bit worried you don't see him that way

you've been friends for a good while by this point and he's worried he's too stuck in the friendzone to ever get back out of it 

so he tries to buy you expensive things 

which is very confusing to you

when those hints hit flat he tries to plan the best date ever

hes convinced this night will single-handedly bring him out of the friend zone forever 

taking you to the most expensive wine bar in London and tasting all the fine drinks of the upper class

you can't even swallow most of it in a ladylike way

you also can't stop laughing at how ridiculous it all is 

Michael gets angry and flustered because his fool proof plan some how did not work? but how could this be

“lets just go” him storming out and you following, now giggling at how ridiculously serious he was

catching up to him and convincing him to come down the cut with you 

grabbing a few bottles of beer from the back of the Garrison and taking them up with you 

sitting by the water under the starts and laughing about what a sham the day has been

am i exclusively writing modern au headcannons because i don't trust my ability enough to turn it to a period piece and because my commitment issues make it near on impossible to write a full fic? you bet. Also, i eternally simp for Ada

Ada is at her wits end with living with her brothers

she's genuinely ready to murder them all

so she finds a nice one bedroom flat in London and packs her stuff

Tommy says its a big fat no sorry 

compromise a two bedroom and a roommate situation, as long as Ada can pick who

but obviously, Tommy finds a way to involve himself in this part of the decision making too

he just wants to make sure his sister isn't moving in with some weirdo or a gang banger

he also just loves being in control but whatever 

he actually shows you around the place 

you get the impression that he is the landlord and he doesn't exactly correct you 

he likes you though, he thinks you're a good fit and you don't seem to have any ties to people that want to kill him which is a rarity in this town

Ada is fuming when he tells her that her roommate has already moved in

the roommate who she was supposed to pick but hasn't even met yet

when you first meet her she seems so angry at you that you feel kinda guilty like you've done something wrong 

or just assume she's a big fat bitch 

it doesn't take her long to snap out of it though, when she figures out your not just one of her brothers little spies

i feel like ada is really into green/ herbal teas? she makes you tea all the time 

and at first its a bit hit or miss but she kinda hones her skill and honestly that shit is GOOD

she has an obsession reading up on it for a bit and she finds this recipe for this like super tea for mornings that builds your immune system and she starts making it for herself but then feels bad for not sharing with you so she leaves you a cup on the kitchen counter every morning for when you get up

she also bakes a lot, and she leaves you little goodies out with a post it note on them with your name on or a little cute note

after a while though when you grow closer she will literally just bring these baked goods into your room

like at the start she's SO careful with not entering your space

because all she's had her whole life is brothers coming in her room and annoying her 

no privacy in the shelby home

she doesn't want to make you feel like that

but after  a while you guys grow so comfortable with each other that you literally can just walk into each others rooms unannounced 

having dinners together 

you guys start by cooking together and like 

eating your separate meals around the table together

and then ada comes home one day utterly shattered from working at the library and you make her tea for her

in thanks she makes you your tea the next night and then it just kind of continues from there

even when one of you is away, its hard for the other to just make one portion so you'll often leave each other frozen meals with post it notes on

theres notes start as just names but then they kinda turn into a way of sharing little inside jokes

which is incredibly confusing for the boys when they come round

“Ada, why is there a cake labelled ‘Boris Johnson’ in your fridge?”

“thats y/n’s leave it alone!”

you get used to there being random men in the house

growing to enjoy the company of Adas brothers much much more than she herself does

Ada bringing you as her plus one to all Tommy political events and parties

Polly gets a strange vibe from the two of you

not that she doesn't like you, because she does

very much so actually

but she just can sense that theres something there thats a little deeper than friendship

she starts to see it in the way Ada is so hands on with you

Ada has always been cuddly, but exclusively with her closest circle of friends 

Polly picks up on all the little touches and hand strokes that not even you nor Ada notice to be abnormal 

instead of intervening she just watches, waiting for one of you to realise whats going on

Ada feels it first

you've lived together for a year and a bit and Ada comes to your room to drop off your morning tea like normal and your doors closed

thinking you've closed it by accident she barges in to find you in bed with a very naked male 

shes really angry so she goes to tell Polly about it

“but why are you angry dear?” 

Ada doesn't know, she just babbles on about it being so unlike you 

Polly just listens, not wanting to butt in until Ada had got it all out of her system

“i don't know Pol, i guess i don't know why I'm angry”

its not like anything really happened, there wasn't some earth shattering event that brought her the realisation

You're somehow both the female version of John and also the antiJohn 

you meet in the most random of ways

he has a one night stand and you're her roommate

You had no fear of Tommy, and he loved that about you. the way you spoke to him, the way you teased him - made him weak. When you were alone together you had all the power. He would do anything you said, and it both terrified and excited him. Sometimes you let him have a flavour of that control, let him take the reins. But he knew it was all on your terms - he would serve you in any way possible, anything to hear the way his name sounded from your lips.

At first the Shelbys accepted you because they had too; Tommys girl was part of the family whether they liked it or not. However, when they saw how you could deal with him, talk him out from those dark corners of his brain he often dwelled in. You brought back parts of Tommy that they hadn't seen since before the war, parts they thought they would never see again. And for that, they welcomed you into the family with open arms.

Is happiness an option Or has love just turned me blind

It took Tommy a while to actually believe you would stay. He found it hard to believe that someone as good as you would be willing to blend their future with a man like him. He felt like he wasn't worthy of the happiness he felt when you were around him, the euphoria he felt under your touch. After all the bad things he had done, how could any god grant him such an angel like yourself. He'd lost love in the past, he knew the feeling of heartbreak and he also knew he could survive it - but he doubted losing you would compare. He had found someone he genuinely couldn't imagine a future without, and it scared him shitless.

No happy endings Unless fairytales comes true But she looks like a princess And there's not much else to do

He tried to turn you away, tried to deny the attraction he felt every time he was in your presence - but it was simply a battle he didn't want to fight nor did he enjoy. All it took was a bit of interest from you and he would lose all resolve, all common scene. You brought him to his knees and he would let you every time.

it would take a while for you to get inside that head of his, truly. Tommy had built so many walls to protect himself over the years that they were heard to bring down, even when he wanted to let you in. But Tommy was worth the effort, even if he didn't believe it himself. You loved him and you were willing to put in the leg work to prove he could trust you with all the sides to his personal.

Alrighty then, so I'm not gonna lie out of the whole show i definitely sleep on John the most? i don't know why though because the mans a SALT and just an all round geezer. Anyway, i hope you enjoy!
