I'm only mildly morally outraged by taylor swift. She's kind of the poster child for rich blonde white women but she's not the worst one yknow. She's like the hillary clinton of pop music but I'm grateful that she's not a politician. I do find her lyrics and the way swifties act about those lyrics REALLY funny though. God bless

Imagine being Todd howard and being unable to escape obsidian being a pebble in your shoe.

You buy fallout and make fallout 3. You get Liam Neeson to voice in it. It's game of the year, people say it's great but ultimately more of a Bethesda game than a fallout.

Obsidian makes new Vegas and it's set up to fail. It doesn't. It's a broken mess but people say the inverse: it's a broken mess, but this is a real fallout game, and people ask you when they're going let that studio make another good one more than when fallout 4 comes out.

So you make fallout 4 which people generally agree is really fun! The role playing is basically non existent, but people enjoy it... But people still ask about obsidian and new Vegas.

So obsidian makes outer worlds which Microsoft eventually buys them for. It's... Fine! It's fine! The general consensus is "this is a pretty good first one of these!" and people are more happy because Bethesda RPGs can be made by someone who isn't Bethesda. Looking forward to 2 with all that Microsoft money!

So you make starfield. It's going to be the biggest one EVER. You get bought out by Microsoft and it's the biggest deal EVER (for now). You get a huge marketing push. The hype cycle is real. This is it. Your moment when you get to show everyone why you're king of this niche mountain.

It comes out and the best RPG to come out that year is an old fashioned D&D game that Microsoft had no faith in. The game Microsoft took a gamble on and bought the studio is a lazy soulless mess that gets in its own way. It gets no awards, no accolades, and who knows if it turned a profit (I assume it did with the marketing, but they're not bragging about numbers), while baldurs gate 3 SWEEPS and outer worlds turns out a better starfield than starfield is.

It will be very funny if Avowed is a breakout hit this year.

this is going to sound like the most boomer take ever but I genuinely think increasing reliance on technology for entertainment in youth is draining creativity. it's that instant gratification which allows you to shut your brain off for a while. these kids aren't having to resort to their own creativity when bored. there's always a solution to "bored" now. BRING BACK PLAYING WOLVES UNTIL BEDTIME
