Jude: My life is terrible right now.
Taryn: What happened?
Jude: I realized that I’m in love, and it sucks.
Taryn: Oh, c’mon! That’s great! Falling in love is not a bad thing, don’t fight it!
Jude: It’s Cardan.
Taryn: You fight that feeling - YOU FIGHT IT LIKE IT’S A ROCK ‘EM-SOCK 'EM ROBOT! YOU PUNCH ITS HEAD RIGHT OFF!

I can’t stop thinking about how the canon portrayal of Ladynoir patrols differs from fanon patrols.
In fanon patrols (which started long before patrols were even confirmed), Ladybug and Chat Noir interact with Paris as little as possible. They stay atop the rooftops, virtually never touching the ground unless they see trouble, and watch everything from above… kind of isolated. They virtually only patrol in the evenings/at night, and civilians hardly even know that they’re there other than occasionally seeing them in the corner of their eyes.
But now we’ve gotten an actual glimpse of what patrols are like for them in canon. And it’s…. so different?
First of all, their patrol time seems to be in the middle of the day, not at night. (I mean, given how we’ve seen ladybug and chat noir meet up in the evening/night before, they probably do both. But daytime patrols aren’t the norm in fics ime).
Chat Noir, while on patrol alone, doesn’t just watch Paris from the rooftops. He jumps down and interacts with the civilians! He sits by Mr. Ramier in the park and checks in on him! He goes to the hotel and orders drinks! And the citizens of Paris aren’t fazed by this at all: this is completely normal to them!
(Do Chat Noir and Ladybug usually come to the hotel to get drinks, or is it just Chat Noir when he’s alone? Do Ladybug and Chat Noir chill by the bar, keeping an eye out on Chloe, and hang out as they drink? What do you think Ladybug’s “usual” is?)
Not to mention Ladybug and Chat Noir posing with children and eating ice cream together in the beginning of the Shanghai special.
Like, Chat Noir and Ladybug don’t just watch Paris. They interact with it. Paris sees them walking around, sees them ordering food and chatting with people, and nobody really bats an eye. Like “oh yeah, I stood behind Ladybug and Chat Noir today in line for ice cream. Must’ve been their regular 2pm patrol” like??? Yes, they have fans that may call them over for some selfies, but they aren’t nearly as isolated from society as it was assumed.
I don’t know. I just. Really love it. I always really loved the fanon portrayal of patrols, it’s really intimate… but there’s also something so nice and charming about canon’s.
(also….. we now know the canon spot they meet up for patrol. just saying)
