Mental Health Tip 5/27/20
Get cookin! If you are willing and able, I suggest using whatever ingredients you have in your kitchen to whip something up. If you are like me and can’t find your way around a kitchen then do something simple. There are numerous 3-ingredient deserts and easy to make dinner recipes on the internet. This is also an opportunity to cook some healthy fuel for your body. Take care of yourselves and try some new things.
Recipes I’v enjoyed cooking:

I See You
For all those that are hurting and afraid, know that I see you. You don’t have to face your pain alone. You’re all so strong, asking for help doesn’t change that. You are trying your best, you are doing great.

Quarentine Activity
Losing track of time? Days blurring together? A fun activity to do is create your own monthly calendar or add to one you have around your house. Cut out little squares of paper and on a few of them write some random fun activities you want to do during the month. Afterword arrange your squares in calendar formation on a piece of cardboard/paper. Tape the side with the words down so you can’t see them. As you go about your month flip the squares and if you come upon an activity square, then you need to complete that activity that day. That way you can spice up your month a little. June’s coming up, so this could be a great activity to do this week. As always, stay safe.

Mental Health Tip 5/15/20
Check in on your family members/ quarantine buddies. Chances are even if you’re doing fine, they might not be. Ask them how they’re feeling and look for signs of retreat. Are the acting different? Sleeping too much or too little? Not eating or eating to much? Are they not motivated to do anything anymore? If so, it sounds like they could use a listening ear. Be there for them and let them know they can talk to you. If you are one of these people than reach out to your family no matter how hard it might seem. Right now we need to support each other to beat both this virus and quarantine.

Mental Health Tip 5/12/20
Allow yourself to feel sad or upset. If you are the type of person who tries to keep it together all the time you’ll wear yourself out. You might be upset about an event or vacation you missed and that’s okay. Don’t feel guilty about. Talk about it with someone and acknowledge your negative feelings. That’s the only way you’ll get them out.

Mental Health Tip 5/11/2020
Play with friends. There are numerous websites that allow for multi player games and you don’t even have to be a gamer to play them. Maybe build a jigsaw puzzle together or see who is a trivia champion. It is a ton of fun and can make you guys feel closer. Video call while doing it and enjoy the witty (or not so witty) commentary.

Mental Health Tip 5/8/20
Allow yourself to be bad at something. I know many of you are working on picking up or refining a skill during quarantine. That’s a great thing!  Still, it’s okay if whatever your doing isn’t great. We learn through our failures and the beauty of being a beginner is knowing you’re going to make mistakes.  If your drawing looks off that’s okay. If your cookies taste dry that’s okay. if you can’t do that yoga pose that okay. If you struggle in anything that’s okay. Keep track of your progress and look back on your growth. You’re all doing great!

Mental Health Tip 5/7/20
Go through old photo albums, journals or notebooks. You can do some spring cleaning while doing so as well. It’s always fun to reflect on how you’ve changed and nostalgia is a powerful force. Reflect back on those happy times and remind yourself that you will smile again. Reflect on those unhappy times and remind yourself that you got through them. Remember this quarantine is not forever. Stay safe and remember if you need someone to talk to, I am an ask away.

Mental Health Tip 5/6/20
Get active! It’s a good idea to keep you’re body moving while staying at home. This can mean a home workout, running the treadmill, yoga or a mini dance party. I don’t need to tell you why excercise is good for you, but I promise you it will improve your mood. What I like to do is play some heavy metal music and just dance to it. Do whatever you’ll like doing and don’t make excercise a chore.

Mental Health Tip 5/5/2020
Watch a T.V show or Read a book that is a totally different genre than you’re  used to. Who knows you might love it or hate it, but it’ll make your days feel a little different. It’s better if you get a friend to do it with you so you can compare thoughts. Keep having fun and stay safe!

Mental Health Tip 5/4/20
Something cathartic is drawing something you love or miss. Maybe it’s your mom or a certain sandwich. Whatever it is, take some time to draw it out. It doesn’t matter what your skill level is. Just putting something you love on paper makes it feel closer to you.

Mental Health Tip 5/1/20
Pick up a new skill during this time. I know the hardest part of starting something new is getting in the head space for it. Start by getting exited about a skill before attempting it. For me, I’ve always wanted to learn Photoshop so I have been watching a lot of tutorials and thinking of ideas for projects. This will help you find motivation to learn the skill.

Mental Health Tip 4/30/20
If you’re not working or not in school right now your days might blur together. This can make your week feel unstructured and frustrating. Try having things to look forward to on certain days of the week. For example, you could order pizza every Wednesday, watch movies with friends on Thursdays or sleep in for an hour every Saturday.
