Often times in her homeland the cold weather killed the plant life in her forest. Mostly resilient weeds and trees older than her had survived, When she'd begun to travel out of the area, she'd come to love brightly coloured flowers. When Ludwig had offered to take her with him out to the fields, she was eager to go. In fact, once she'd seen the flowers she couldn't help but scamper out to them and do a little twirl in excitement.
"Ludwig, it is all so pretty! How can so many live here? Is so amazing..." she crooned. Aija made her way back to Ludwig and stood close to him, wanting to hold onto his arm but nervous he wouldn't want the touch.
A family day out
Ludwig enjoyed nature, it was a simple pleasure of his, a few steps from his castle and 100% free. It was a pleasure he rarely got now that he was king, but this day, yes this day he had the chance to relax and indulge in one of his favourite hobbies. He couldn’t just leave Aija alone in the castle though, she was still nervous and skittish, no. Instead he brought her with him, to share such a wonder with her. She was the reason he was smiling at the scene in front of him, the fields stretching on for miles, The many flowers swaying in the wind. There stood in the middle, was his beautiful adoptive daughter Aija, her hair swaying in the wind along with the flowers, making her look right at home

-Aija could feel the gaze on her, but she didn't say anything. Surely if the man wanted to talk, he would... and if he had bad intentions, it was good Ludwig let her keep her knife of her person. When he finally spoke, Aija tried to put on a smile-
Oh, n-no, I am merely wandering... My hai- oh! Thank you, sure. Is not as great as it seems, all of the brushing. It is like a nest!

... Ah. [she looks quite confused for a moment, but tries to cover that up] I see... I suppose I could work on that, if I could learn to read and write first. Then I would be sounding like high class?
New is good word for it! Have been recently... adopted into the court.
Hrafn.  Lord Hrafn.  I think you make a lovely lady.  …as in, you look like a lady.  Your diction could use some work, but you will learn in time.

Aija sure felt tipsy now. It was like she'd let go on some inhibitions and it put her in a great mood, really. She might pick up this drinking thing more often, she thought. "I will, don't you worry mister Janis." She punctuated her sentence with another swig of wine.
"Maybe they just cannot handle you is all. They are all uptight and are having fancy cheese and wine, so when they get a look at someone who is not so rich, and not so powerful... but then they see they cannot control that person, even though our kind are below them..." Aija rose a brow. "If I was in a pretty dress, would you think I was attractive then? A preeetty lady?" She snorted a bit at the end of her sentence.
Aija thought quickly, trying to come up with a name. The first name that popped into her head was the rather overly common ‘Janis’ from back home. “Janis, then! Is good to see you again, Janis,” she said, almost laughing. “Is long story… I will tell you but later, is this good deal?”
Aija looked at her glass of wine and shrugged with a grin. “I have never had it! And it is free and no one is complaining that I am not old enough! Is a perfect deal, I think. It feels weird on my throat and stomach though, like I am drinking… something peculiar.” Aija sipped at the wine again while he explained.
“Oh, you are going to tease me about that! You should know I am here because am supposed to make my Vat- the King look good. Is not smart to hide children, right? So- am here! But you, you just came for being ‘curious’? So… it seems like you are the one that wants to find a suitor. Are you seeing any girls you like?” She teased.

"Gettin' drunk? I don't think so... no, it cannot be, Janis!" she laughed, though still quiet. "I don't feel drunk. ... What does drunk feel like, anyway? Is it... is it like someone is swishing you around and you feel a if you are floating in the midsummer sky?" It took a little self restraint for her to not burst out laughing at her own 'joke'.
"Is that the truth from you, hm? I bet you see some pretty lady here... which one is it?" Aija looked around for a moment, then turned back to him, "The lady in that blue gown, with the dark hair. She is being attractive, why do you not go say hello to her?"

My... what? Is this some form of magic? I have not heard of diction, but if it is magic how does one do it?

Aija jumped in response to Cody jumping, and stiffened at his slight scolding. Recovering, she nodded and tried to put up a smile so they didn’t look suspicious talking so quietly together. Aija stepped in closer to him so he could hear her.
“I won’t- what should I call you then, um… sir?” She asked, straightening her posture to look more proper. “I am Ludwig the Second, as you know.” She said, grinning a little with an ‘authoritative’  tone of voice. She hoped he caught on to her disguise; if he called her Aija and someone heard, they’d wonder why the kid who had been presented as Ludwig’s son had a girl’s name.
“Are you enjoying yourself? There are lots of good things to eat, so you should come have some. There is this wine, too. It’s free, it’s also gross… but everyone, they are drinking it so I believe we should also do this.” Aija rambled a little, but she was happy to see someone she knew and liked. He even looked dressed up! It was unlike when she’d first met him. “And… what are you doing here?”

[Aija managed to smile a bit, he didn't seem annoyed at her lack of eloquence.] Is good to meet you as well! Um- yes... I think that is what they would be calling me. I do not think I make the best lady, though, Sir... Hra... how did your name go again?
[he seemed official… Aija knew she had better behave, lest she slander Ludwig’s name; but had he said magician?] Oh… that sounds very high up. I’m Aija… from Hearts, pl-place- Kingdom, I mean. I do not think I have a job yet, so am not having impressive title. [that seemed good enough. Aija wasn’t comfortable with waving her ‘status’ as (adopted)daughter of the King just yet.]

[clears his throat and plays with the hem of his sleeve in front of the two ladies, who are richly decorated in Hearts finery.  They both look to be around his age, and he can’t help but feel a twinge of shyness for once]  …good evening, ladies.  Could I interest you in something to drink?  Something to eat?  Perhaps you’d like to try traditional food from my home - ?

[looks down at her feet because of great, someone new and scary...] Hello, e-er- no, I am fine- do not wish to impose on you. Er... who are you, if I can ask that? I mean if I should not know I will leave, that is fine!

Aija let go of the book so he could take it almost immediately. A lady of her standing... he must not know who she was. Aija didn't know if she should tell him; it wasn't a secret, no, and he did look important...
"I am... I think, rather than lady of standing, I am more like a girl of sitting..." She explained, trying her best to sound eloquent. "The King, he has... he took me in? Just recently.." Aija added. "I do not want to burden you with that.."
Feliciano sat down next to her and looked at the book. “You can’t? It’s strange to see a lady of your standing not able to read…” He placed a hand on the book waiting for her permission to grab it, “May I?” He smiled at her. “This was my favorite book as a child. My grandpa used to read it to my and my brother all the time. I can help you learn it if you’d like.”

Aija nodded solemnly... well, she tried. She was excited. Sure, even the boys in royalty had expectations and rules, but... pants! She had had one too many pairs of uncomfortable dresses worn since she'd come here. "I will be safe, I-I promise. And... and you, try to not be hit more? I will have word with who hit you..."
So, there's something you should know...
With a sigh, Aija nodded. “You are not going to put me in prison here, are you..? I can’t go back to a prison…” she said, hands shaking. She didn’t know if the speaking he would do after the ball would include jail time. Aija hoped not.
“What name should I use…? Can I be Ludwig, too?”

Evening again, sir! I'm here to collect my dance! [grins and holds out his hand, waiting for "him" to take it] And what was your name again? I'm afraid I didn't quite catch it last time!
-she grimaces but tries to cover it with a smile, taking his hand stiffly- Oh, lovely to see you... my name? It's, A- Ludwig, sir. Ludwig the Second, I am the King's s...son. I do not think I heard your name either...
