alright this account has certainly been abandoned, but in my defense, it was poor judgement from me to create this right before the peak of my school workload. i suppose ill get back to it when this all dies down?

suna never really learned how to control himself.
and ironically enough, it was nights like these when he wish he had. as he reclines in his leather seat, parked outside an empty mc donalds with his windows rolled down and stereo turned up, he couldnā€™t help but wonder if perhaps things would've been different.
if only he developed the slightest bit of self control; maybe he would find it easier to put down his phone. maybe he wouldn't hover over your contact name, hoping you werenā€™t already asleep.
it was like this every time. every fucking time he tried to create distance.
it was almost as if the universe was daedalus, warning him not fly too close to the sun. and suna, oh tragic suna, was given the role of icarus; desire replaced hubris as he glides up in defianceā€”or rather, ignorance. suna knew not to get too close, but all rationality seemed to flee as he typed that dangerous you up? and sent it with an eager press.
god, he thought, his fingers gripping a loose strand of hair. could i ever really control myself?
it didn't take long before you sent a message back. the gentle notification tone sent a shiver down his spine, and he found himself with a racing heart before he was even able to glance at your reply.
and with one simple yes in response, suna was beginning to realize the hold you had on him. with feverish haste, he reversed out of the cold parking lot and let his muscle memory take over.
was i always this desperate? he couldnā€™t help but consider. the road to your house felt familiar. a little too familiar, and he worried that soon enough, it would be the only path he'd remember. that soon enough, every road would somehow lead to your place, and any further attempt at self-control would ultimately be futile.
suna gripped his steering wheel at the sight of a turn. he could always go back. go home and try to sleep without thoughts of you flooding his mind. but he knew it was unrealistic to believe in a world where he wasn't thinking about you, and how nice you smelled, and how nice you always were to him.
for a minute there, suna didnā€™t notice his foot pressing further into the accelerator. it was as if his subconscious mind was just aching to see you as well.
his arrival felt a little too quick, and in that moment, he couldnā€™t tell why or how he was there. the rumble of his engine was enough to let you know of his presence, and it was merely seconds later when you pushed open the front door with disheveled hair and a stupidly wide grin. suna couldnā€™t prevent the smile growing on his face at the sight.
"rin," you called out, hands eagerly waving in his direction "it has been entirely too long."
feigning annoyance by rolling his eyes, he grumbled back, "two days is hardly too long. besides, iā€™m here now, aren't i?"
you only giggled in response, getting comfortable in his passenger seat. as suna looked towards your side, he couldnā€™t help but bite back a chuckle at your oblivious nature. leaning over, he reached for your neglected seat belt and clicked it into place.
for a moment, his face was unnervingly close to yours, and once more, he found himself praying for that bit of self-control he never bothered developing. when you are this closeā€”close enough for him to feel your breath caress his face, how could he dream of backing away?
with a sharp chill running down his spine, suna couldn't help but notice the warmth of the sun and smell of melted wax pulling him back to his seat. daedalus seeped into his mind, and like a light whisper at the back of his head, warned himĀ stay back and fly away from the sun.
he had almost burned, but not yet. not just yet, he thought, shooting a friendly smile in your direction.
"so, where to?" suna asked with what he hoped was a nonchalant tone. you paused for a moment, having not given any thought to the destination quite yet.
"it's almost 5am. we could go to the park to watch the sunrise?"
amused by the sheer irony, his lips curled into a smirk. "you wanna go to the sun?"
despite being confused by the wording, you nodded your head. it then became silent for a moment, as suna stared ahead with a look conveying mild distress. his eyebrows furrowed as he tried one last attempt in finding any sort of control over himself.
it was one excruciatingly long moment before his face relaxed, and suna realized the self control he was looking for simply does not exist. all that did was you, and as he turned to face your direction, your existence seemed to be the only one that mattered. staring into your eyes decorated with dark circles and a contrasting lively expression, he felt himself overcome with the desire to fly just a little bit closer to the sun. only a bit, he reasoned.
it was only until one corner of your lips lifted and the rest of your mouth followed suit when suna abandoned that reason on impulse. as he leaned out of his chair, he embraced the heat, reaching impossibly closer towards you. desire and hubris seemed to be one and the same in this moment, but suna paid no regard. his wings befriending the flame was only a small price to pay if it meant experiencing your soft, addictive lips on his own.
and as he pulled away, a lazy grin stretched across his face as a brazen display of acceptance. "fine," he mumbled under his breath, "lets glide towards the sun."
