So, a little depressing news
The actor! Suna fanfic (OOS) I've been working on is gone from my google docs... uh... it's very unfortunate and I'm on the verge of tears rn.
I'll have to take a longer hiatus to... post Acts 2 and 3 since I have to re-write it from the beginning of Act 2. I'm really sorry for those of you waiting.
EDIT: CRISIS AVERTED, I WAS ABLE TO RESTORE IT

Scene 8: Aftermath
CW: Creepy interview questions, vaping, drinking
Note: So sorry for not posting according to schedule, I was really trying to stay away from social media as a whole during my break and kind of forgot to update, other than that I was also going on strike for P4l3st1n3 (If you support z10n1sm, please see yourself out). I'll also be going on hiatus to prepare for season two of the series (aka, finish the damn thing).

With great reviews means more offers for you and Suna to act in the same genre as your team as well as Suna’s team work tirelessly to decline offers for you to act in mediocre romance dramas. For the past year and a half, you and Suna have avoided those offers, opting to find and star in other genres of movies, detective mystery movies being your go-to choice as the atmosphere is dark enough for the two of you yet the plots are quite decent.
Other than that change, you’ve acted in a total of two detective mystery movies together with Suna, however, in both movies your character does end up with Suna’s, resulting in more romantic scenes that you and Suna were forced to shoot during those months.
However, that’s not the worst of it all.
Sure, fan edits of you and Suna have come out, your relationship is being gossipped all over the internet, the paparazzi have started to follow you and Suna around, oh no. That isn’t the worst of it.
It’s the interview questions and the backhanded comments.
“It must’ve been hard to kiss on camera for the first time, especially with intense kisses like in episode 10, did you two practise a lot in private?”
“The scene after Hiroki and Kumiko got intimate must’ve been challenging, you must’ve rehearsed it a lot.”
“Now that you’re comfortable with diving into the romance genre, are you two planning to star in movies where there are more explicit scenes?”
Those comments had driven you and Suna insane to the point where you would continually reject appearing in talk shows or interviews. You’re getting frustrated by the lack of horror movie offers that are good enough for you to act in as most movies are filled with cheap scares and horrible plots.
“I know the cash is good and all, but fuck. I regret starring in that damn drama so much.” You grumble as you down your shot of vodka, the pounding bass from your speakers amplifying as the alcohol continues to take effect. “I want to act in horror movies again, even if you’re not my co-star.”
“Tell me about it.” Suna replies, taking a hit from his vape. “I don’t even care if I die in the first minute of the movie at this point. I just want the offers to go back to how it used to be.”
It’s concerning how badly you and Suna have spiralled in the few months you two haven’t acted in any horror movies. Your hangouts would be filled with alcohol and drunken rants 60% of the time and the usage of nicotine have now almost skyrocketed. The only reason either of you haven’t dipped your toes into drugs at this point is to keep your reputation and private lives clean enough to not land you two into a scandal if you’re ever caught.
“Should we just… say fuck it and take another role in another romance series?” You mumble as you take a hit from your vape, the vapour you blow out clouding your vision.
“No, no, no. I’m not doing any romance shit anytime soon.” Suna grumbles as he sips (chugs) his glass of whiskey. “On days like these, I really wish Kita-san would suddenly appear out of thin air in front of me and offer me a horror movie role.”
Just as Suna says that, both of your phones buzz, alerting both of you. You two check your phones and both your eyes sparkle as you read the contents of the message. “Did your hot manager just send you the same offer as Kasumi?” You ask as you sit up on your sofa.
“I think he just did.” Suna answers. “And stop calling Kita-san hot, whore.”
“Womp womp, loser.” You comment as you read through to the last line.
‘Thing is, [Name]-chan… the script involves you and Suna being a couple…’
“Damn… the premise for the series is good too…” Suna mumbles as he visibly thinks hard over this offer, even through his hazy mind.
“... Y’know what, at least it’s a good enough horror series!” You say as you softly punch Suna’s shoulder. “What’s the harm in acting a little romantic on set when we get to act in all the gore and horror again?”
Suna mulls over the thought for a while, weighing the pros and cons of his decision if he were to accept this deal. You both know you’re desperate for this opportunity and you, personally, have thrown away all the risks of acting as a couple with Suna again just for the sake of acting in the horror genre again.
“I kind of have a bad feeling about this though…” Suna mumbles, but ultimately follows up with, “yeah, we should just do it…” He says, sending Kita the text agreeing to the offer while you shoot Kasumi the same response.
“What could be worse than acting in a full-fledged romance drama?” You ask as you shrug.

Scene 7: Reviews

Tumblr media
Thanks to the rehearsals you and Suna did, the rest of the filming went by smoothly with minimal fits of laughter, even for the scenes where Hiroki and Kumiko were implied to have been intimate not long before the scene is supposed to take place (You and Suna bursted into fits of laughter a grand total of 10 times! You would’ve had 50 if you weren’t comfortable with each other).
When you and Suna watched the clips you shot together of that particular scene, you were amazed by both your and Suna's abilities to look so genuinely in love with each other, lying in bed, and holding each other while you both acted out your characters having some pillow talk in a more heartwarming scene of the movie.
“To think our situation was basically the blind leading the blind.” Suna comments as the two of you sit in the bus rented by the studio to bring the crew back home to Tokyo. “The arguments Kumiko and Hiroki had were fucking intense, I think that series drained me more than my 6-year career.”
“They were.” You agree as you nod your head. “I absolutely cannot wait to get back to acting in horror movies. They're much easier than the series we did.”
Suna glances around for a bit before leaning in to whisper in your ear. “Wanna shit on the series when it finally comes out?”
“You don't even have to ask!” You laugh as you lean back into your seat. “Thinking about it, Kumiko and Hiroki were fucking toxic man, don't think they’d actually work out if they were real people.”
“That's true. But I guess they did redeem themselves at the end there when they talked everything out.” Suna shrugs. “I don’t know how our reputation will hold up after this drama comes out, though.”
“I guess we just have to take the L and move on as if we’re not the main characters of the drama.” You sigh. “Even the best actors have a stain in their career.”
The drive from your last shooting location in Kyoto back to Tokyo takes a while, but you don’t feel just how long it is. During the 6-hour drive, you mostly either slept or talked shit with Suna and your crew, gossiping about the latest scandals of celebrities or their secret activities that would get them into scandals.
You and Suna exchange addresses before you both part ways, promising each other to keep in contact and hang out as you click well with him (you also know you both have intentions to star in the same horror movies together and that’s another reason why you’re keeping contact. But that’s honestly a given).
You would contact Suna frequently and you would even meet to hang out during your cooling period before you get another job, the highlight of these hangouts is when you two got to watch the finalised version of the drama you starred in. You both cleared your schedules for the whole day and spent watching all 12 episodes in one day, shit talking and cringing at yourselves as the story unfolds into Director Kurosu’s vision.
“This is never going to get good reviews from anyone.” Suna says as he skips the end credits of episode five to go to episode six.
“Yeah, the trailer’s out and literally the whole internet is confused as fuck.” You comment as the recap for episode five starts. “The first impression from our fans doesn't look good.”
“Let’s just look for a good horror movie to star in by next month. That should steer the public’s attention away from whatever this is.”
What you and Suna didn’t expect though is that the drama you both starred in ended up as a huge hit, to the point where it’s one of the most streamed dramas on all streaming platforms. Fans of both the romance and horror genres banded together to praise the drama as well as you and Suna for your 'phenomenal acting'.
“[Surname]-san and Suna-san’s acting were so good 😭😭😭 I’ve always known they were well-known in the horror genre, but I never knew they would also be this good at doing romance dramas!” -xxTsumufan123, 5 stars
“I’ve been a big fan of Suna-san’s works and have been DYING to see him in a movie with [Surname]-san since I also love her movies. I never thought I would see my dream come true in a romance drama but I’m deffo not disappointed 💯💯💯” -User89302, 5 stars
“Kumiko and Hiroki’s characters fit [Surname]-san and Suna-san so well! The plot of the drama isn’t that light-hearted so it also makes it feel so real and not forced!!! I can’t wait to see them in future instalments, doesn’t even matter if it’s horror, romance, or even comedy!” -Sunasveinythickthighs, 5 stars
“I’m so used to seeing Suna-san and [Surname]-san dying or killing, literally covered in blood. This is a breath of fresh air.” -Yamiki8294, 4.5 stars
You and Suna agree that you’re both dying at the outcome of this drama as well as what’s to come in the near future.

Scene 6: Dramatic Kisses
CW: Kisses!! A makeout, basically lmao
Previous | Masterlist | Next
Tumblr media
The month rolls around quickly as you and Suna finally get used to acting as a couple, your performances getting better each day with some scenes even getting one take only. The shooting period in the university is coming to an end with only three days left to shoot all the kissing scenes on campus which total to 5 scenes.
You and Suna dreaded this. You two have gotten used to almost-kisses, kisses on the forehead and cheek, and hugs, but kissing on the lips in front of the camera is most definitely a first, which you’re unsure how it will go.
As per your routine, you either come over to Suna's room or he would come over to your room to rehearse the scenes that need to be worked on almost every night. On this night in particular, you are in Suna's room, awkwardly trying to find a way to be comfortable enough to kiss Suna on camera.
“The good news is all of the scenes on campus are just casual kisses since the dramatic kisses and the first kiss are done off-campus.” Suna says as he sets his phone up to simulate a real camera.
“But we somehow have to make the kisses seem casual yet intimate since at this stage, Kumiko and Hiroki’s relationship is already in full bloom.” You add as you tap your script, furrowing your eyebrows in confusion.
“Correct.” Suna says as he walks over to his bed to read his script. “Technically, we can rehearse the first kiss or the one after they make up after a fight to be comfortable with each other to do the more casual kisses.”
“Just say it if you want to kiss me that badly.” You joke, laughing as you flip the script to the first kiss scene, reading the lines.
During the month you spent shooting the scenes on campus, you and Suna have grown closer as you two see each other every day with an average of 15 hours each day, sometimes more, sometimes less. The amount of times you see each in private could possibly warrant a dating scandal if anyone on crew were to snitch. You two have reached the stage where you're comfortable with joking with each other and even calling each other unhinged nicknames that have made the crew and people around you turn their heads in disbelief.
“Darn, ya caught me.” Suna replies sarcastically.
“I think we should just do the dramatic kiss scene since it's more intense.” You comment as you flip the script to the kiss scene where Kumiko and Hiroki make up after a fight.
“Just say it if you want to kiss me that badly.” Suna teases, throwing your joke back at you.
“Oh whatever.” You say and roll your eyes. “So, which one do you want to do?”
“Fine, the dramatic kiss scene.” Suna says as he finishes reading his lines.
You two settle into your positions, starting to get into character. Both of you are panting as the scene where Hiroki and Kumiko kiss is after a huge screaming match, exhausted after shouting and hurting each other.
“Please understand what I’m trying to tell you, Hiroki. I’m not doing this for no good reason at all… I’m doing this because I love you! I love you so much that it hurts to see you like this…” You start, exhaustion taking over your expression as you drop to your knees. “I-I understand if you want to leave. At the end of the day, it's your decision and I can only support you as best as I can…”
“Kumiko…” Suna mumbles as he kneels in front of you, holding your shoulders as his jaw trembles, his eyes showing pure agony as if he actually did just hurt his lover. “Kumiko, I’m so sorry, I didn't mean to let it go this bad, I just…”
“It's because of what your mother did, I understand. You did what you did because of your upbringing and you can't just change that with a snap of a finger…” You reply, leaning forward to place your head on Suna’s shoulder. “I shouldn't have invalidated that aspect of you…”
“Kumiko…” Suna mumbles as he pushes you off his shoulder softly, cupping your face and staring into your eyes softly. “Kumiko, I love you so much…”
Suna leans in and waits for you to lunge forward to meet him halfway, but you hesitate, pushing Suna away as you hide your face in your hands bashfully. “I’m so sorry, Suna.”
Suna pats your shoulder reassuringly as he laughs. “Don't mind. It's a hard scene to recreate.” He says.
“Let me just…” You mumble as you collect your wits for about two minutes, readying yourself to kiss your friend. ‘I am a professional actress. I have done scenes where I’m tortured, hung upside down, murdered, literally almost everything. I can kiss my friend for a stupid, cliche drama.’ You think to yourself.
“Alright, I’m ready.”
“Let's just start with the scene where Hiroki expresses his love for Kumiko.” Suna says as he gets into character with you immediately following behind.
Suna cups your cheeks as his yellow-greyish eyes stare into yours once again, showing exhaustion and agony like he had actually been hurting you. “Kumiko… Kumiko, I love you so much…”
“Hiroki…” You mumble as the two of you lunge into each other, your lips locking in a passionate kiss where you wrap your arms around Suna's neck, pulling him close as Suna's hands trail to your back, pushing you impossibly close to him.
Suna's lips are slightly chapped yet still soft against yours as the kiss intensifies according to script, though you still feel breathless nonetheless. The feeling of Suna’s tongue slipping in your mouth makes your knees weak, as you pull away to catch your breaths and connect your lips once again. You both only pull away after a number of intense lip-locking, both of you panting from the intense kiss as you stare into each others' eyes.
“How much fucking garlic did you eat? Holy shit.” You comment after a few beats of silence.
“Way to ruin the damn mood, bitch.” Suna grumbles as he lets go of you, pouting from your comment.
“Like it's my fault your breath literally stinks?” You argue as you playfully punch Suna’s shoulder. “Your manager should sub in for the kissing scenes for you, at least I trust he wouldn't kiss me with fucking garlic breath.”
Suna gasps dramatically as he places his hand on his chest in mock offense. “You’d rather kiss someone who constantly has a stick up his ass than your scrumptious, sexy, handsome, amazing friend? I’m hurt.”
You laugh as you dig into your pockets for extra strong breath mints to throw at your co-star. “Who says your manager isn't scrumptious, sexy, handsome, and amazing? He’s pretty hot, very hot, actually.”
“You break my heart every single time you open your mouth.” Suna says as he plops a couple of your extra strong breath mints into his mouth. “What the fuck- why are they so fucking strong?!”
Suna tries to keep his tears in his eyes as the extra strong breath mints attack his nose and eyes. The cackle you let out is akin to a pterodactyl scream as you fall onto your back, clutching your stomach, reveling in Suna's misery.
“Evil! You're an evil woman!” Suna croaks as the breath mints finally dissolve in his mouth.
“No, no. You're just a weak bitch.” You say as you wipe the tears from your eyes. “A weak bitch who can’t read the packaging that says ‘Extra Strong’.”
Once the two of you finally settle down, you both agree to continue to rehearse the number of kissing scenes even through laughter and bickering, leaving both of your lips swollen until the next morning paired with some questioning looks from both of your managers.

Scene 5: Rehearsals
CW: Still none, just Suna and Reader being silly
Previous | Masterlist | Next
Tumblr media
After hours of shooting, the first day wraps up with… you don’t even know how many takes for the scenes you shot today. You drag yourself back to the hotel with your team in tow, all exhausted from the first day of less than ideal filming.
You enter your room after bidding your team good night and change into an oversized shirt and some shorts to sleep in, making yourself comfortable under the thick comforters in the small yet aesthetic room travel vloggers would probably rave about in some 1-minute social media video saying it’s an underrated hotel.
But ever the perfectionist, you end up re-reading your script again rather than immediately heading off to sleep, crossing out the scenes you’ve acted out today and putting in notes for the priority scenes for you to improve on. In the midst of reading the script, a notification in your phone alerts you.
Unknown number: u still up?
You: Who is this?
Unknown number: suna
Unknown number: can’t sleep, can we practise some more scenes tgt?
You: Oh.
You: I mean, sure.
You: XXX Hotel, room 612
Unknown number: omw
Not even 5 minutes later, a knock sounds on your door. You immediately head to the door and peep through the peephole, seeing Suna on the other side, dressed in a black hoodie and basketball shorts, his thick script in his hand. You open the unlock and open the door, letting him in. “That was fast.” You comment.
“I’m in room 605.” Suna answers, stepping inside your room.
“So, which scenes do you want to practise?” You ask as you sit on your bed.
“Do you think the scene where Hiroki breaks is a good one?”
You flip the page to the scene Suna is referring to and nod. “Yeah, I think that would be good.” You say and read your lines. “So, in this scene Kumiko follows Hiroki and he pins her to the wall, conversation ensues, yada yada… almost kiss scene happens.” You conclude, grimacing at the scene.
It’s not as if you have never acted out a scene where you get pinned to the wall, but the context for this is romantic, whereas you’re used to being pinned to the wall in scenes where your character is about to be murdered.
“Yeah… I don’t know if I can pull this off well, to be honest.” Suna says as he furrows his eyebrows.
“Well, it’s best to practise now, right? We never know when we’re acting this scene out anyway.” You say as you stand up, placing your script on the bed.
Suna places his script next to yours and you coordinate the positions best to act the scene out, planning which wall to use and how the scene will flow out in the quaint room. Once finished with the small discussion, Suna takes a deep breath before giving you your cue to start the scene.
You make small steps towards Suna, making sure to put on a worried face. “Ashikaga-san…” You call out, making sure to control the volume of your voice so as to not disturb your neighbours. “Ashikaga-san, please…”
Suna furrows his eyebrows and takes a couple of long strides towards you, his eyes showing nothing less than murderous intent. He pushes you against the wall you two have decided to be the one where you act out the full scene, hitting the wall a bit harder than intended as you notice him bite back his surprise to stay in character.
“Why the hell are you so persistent, Shoji?” Suna growls, leaning in more to the point where you can feel his breath on your lips. “Why the hell can't you leave me alone?”
You open your mouth, about to say your line, but what comes out is a giggle as you crouch down and cover your face with your hands.
“I’m sorry… you looked like you wanted to murder me.” You manage in between giggles.
“Damn, it's hard to let that go.” Suna laughs as he steps back.
“Let’s try again from the top, make your face more… exasperated? Disgusted?”
“Got it. Though I don’t think disgusted is the right word, but I get the point… I think.” Suna notes as you both get into position. You both re-enact the scene, this one going far smoother than the first try.
“Why the hell are you so persistent, Shoji?” Suna asks, leaning into the agreed upon distance, it's clear he’s keeping his expressions in mind as he looks angry, yet lonely. As if longing for your character but pushing her away at the same time. “Why the hell can't you leave me alone?”
Your lips quiver as your hands slowly come up to cup Suna’s face within the small pause. “I care for you, Ashikaga-san… you're my friend… I can't let you suffer alone…” You recite the line according to the script.
Suna’s hand that isn't pinning you against the wall comes up, placing it over one of your hands cupping his cheeks. “Why…? Why do you care so much about me…?”
You open your mouth and recite your line, but the slight twitch of Suna’s lips breaks your focus. “Because I… I… can't fucking do this!” You laugh as you break character and spin to face the wall. “God damn it! It's just to fucking funny!”
“[Surname]-san! We were doing so well!” Suna sighs even though small giggles also escape his lips.
“Don’t you act innocent! I saw you trying to hold in a laugh! You expect me to be able to keep a straight face during this scene? Man, I’m going to cackle.” You say, wheezing from the thought.
“How do you suppose we do the kissing scenes then?” Suna asks, sitting on your bed.
“Let's just… ask the director to put that for last? To get used to each other I guess.”
“Considering how we did today, I think he’s already plotted that.”
“You're right…”

“So, how did your discussion with Suna go?” Kasumi asks as she enters your dressing room where you’re getting your makeup done.
“Horrible. We wanted to try and practise scenes we’re struggling with, but we couldn’t even get through one scene!” You answer and groan. “We tried to do the scene where Hiroki is defending Kumiko from her bullies, but I ended up looking like a helpless victim of attempted murder and Suna looked like he’s actually about to commit homicide… with me being said helpless victim.”
“Yikes…” Kasumi mumbles under her breath, enough for you to hear it. “Well, if it makes you feel better, you’re starting off with a more dramatic scene where Kumiko confronts Hiroki on campus… y’know… scene 113?”
“... The only argument scenes I’ve done are ones where my characters are desperate to try and survive! How am I going to pull this shit off?” You groan, your stylist trying her hardest to hold back her laugh and failing miserably as giggles slip out of her lips. “You can laugh, Watanabe-san. I would also laugh if I were in your position.”
“I’m sorry [Surname]-san… please understand I’m also questioning Director Kurosu’s decision to cast you and Suna-san when you two are horror actors…” Watanabe says as she finishes up styling your hair.
You immediately get into costume and head outside, being escorted to where the scene takes place with Suna and his team already on set, waiting for your arrival. Director Kurosu claps excitedly and sits on his director’s chair. “Ready to do this scene?” He asks.
You and Suna glance at each other and grimace. “Would you like us to be honest or…” You answer half-jokingly.
“I’ll take that as a yes then. Now go on!” Director Kurosu says as he urges you and Suna to get into position.
You walk out of the stage and remind yourself of your lines, waiting for the cue from Director Kurosu for you to enter the scene. Once you hear the ‘action!’ coming from Director Kurosu, you take a deep breath as you stomp into the scene, the camera currently focused on Suna.
“Ashikaga-san!” You shout, keeping in mind to control your emotions to look worried rather than any other expressions you’re far used to while Suna ignores you. “Ashikaga-san! I know you can hear me! Stop ignoring me!”
Suna turns around to look at you, his eyes glaring intensely into your soul, making you stop in your tracks and flinch, as if it’s already ingrained in your brain. “Cut!” Director Kurosu shouts from his seat. “Suna-san, your expression looked too… murderous. Try to look more like you’re caught off guard and startled.” He says.
“Right, sorry…” Suna apologises, scratching the back of his head while you and the extra actors move to your original positions.
“Alright, from the top. Scene 113, take 2…” Director Kurosu announces, “3… 2… 1…action!”
“Ashikaga-san!” You shout, repeating the scene. “Ashikaga-san! I know you can hear me! Stop ignoring me!”
Suna stops and glances back, to see your figure approaching him quickly, stomping towards him. “... Shoji-san…?” Suna mumbles, looking startled.
You grab Suna’s arm and pull him towards you, making him stumble. “Why are you shutting me out? I thought you promised to tell me–”
“Cut!”
You and Suna break character and sigh, knowing you’re the one who made the mistake this time. “[Surname]-san, now you’re the one who looks murderous. You need to be more exasperated and desperate to talk to Suna-san, not like you’re taking revenge after he murdered your loved ones.”
“Sorry, sorry. I’ll try to manage my expressions more.” You apologise as you walk back to your starting position.
“Alright, let’s start from the top again. Scene 113, take 3… action!”
“Ashikaga-san!” You shout, repeating the scene yet again. “Ashikaga-san! I know you can hear me! Stop ignoring me!”
Suna stops and glances back, to see your figure approaching him quickly, jogging to catch up to him this time, rather than stomping. “... Shoji-san…?” Suna mumbles, looking startled.
You grab Suna’s arm and pull him towards you, holding both his arms as you try to look desperate, yet not to the point where your life seems to be threatened. “Why are you shutting me out? I thought you promised to tell me everything!”
“... Shoji-san…” Suna mutters as his face scrunches up to one in anger as is what is written in the script. “Who do you think you are!” He scowls, trying to pull himself out of your grasp.
“I am your friend! You’ve promised to tell me if you’re dealing with something so at least you won’t be alone in your struggles!” You recite, trying to keep Suna in your hold, though you’re visibly struggling as well. “Please Ashikaga-san… don’t push me away…”
Suna then successfully pushes you away, his eyes showing anger and distrust towards you. “Don’t overstep your boundaries, [Surname]– I am so sorry.” He says, accidentally mixing up your surname with Kumiko’s.
Director Kurosu sighs before he shouts the cut signal. “This is going to take a while…” He mutters as he rubs the bridge of his nose, bracing himself for a long day of shooting.

“So, you’re going to talk to Suna?” Kasumi asks as she catches up with you.
“Yeah, I don’t think I can just dive straight into the scenes without going over things first with him. Maybe, maybe, he might have an idea on what to do.” You answer as you weave your way through the crew to Suna and his manager.
You and Kasumi reach Suna and his manager who both notice your presence. Both smile warmly at you and Kasumi, offering their hands for you both to shake which you both take as you make introductions with each other. “Well, if it isn’t the ‘Queen of Modern Horror’, [Surname] [Name].” Suna greets.
“Delighted to know the ‘King of Modern Horror’, Suna Rintarou, acknowledges me.” You greet back with a small smile on your face.
You exchange handshakes with Suna’s equally attractive manager (Kita Shinsuke, you learn) while Suna greets Kasumi. “It’s an honour to work with you, Suna-san. Although I would have never imagined we would co-star in a romance drama instead of horror.” You say once you’ve exchanged pleasantries.
“I was also not expecting to work with you outside of the genre we’re both known for. I was really hoping to co-star with you in another horror movie instead.” Suna says. “Your role in ‘Demise’ was really good.”
“Thanks, I could say the same for your role in ‘The Crypts’.” You compliment back, glee settling in your stomach as you finally get to talk to the person you quite look up to.
“Would you like to sit down and discuss a bit about the series while we wait to be called in for makeup and costume?” Suna asks, his head nodding to the nearest seating area.
“That would be great.” You answer as you look back to Kasumi who gives you a nod of approval.
The two of you set off to the seating area, sitting on the sofa together. “How have you been adapting to the movie’s premise?” Suna asks as he takes out his script.
“A bit challenging, to be honest. Kumiko’s character isn’t that much of a challenge as a whole since she’s not the bubbly and ditzy kind of role which I struggle a lot with, but the storyline… it’s definitely not a storyline I’ll be able to pull off smoothly.” You admit as you take out your own script, reading over your scribbles and notes on scenes you think you might struggle with particularly worse than the others.
“I feel you. Kita-san expects me to be able to act all lovey dovey when Kumiko and Hiroki finally get together in episode seven. I don’t think I’ll know how to execute that well enough since I’m usually holding a prop weapon in my hands.” Suna says, agreeing with your statement as he sighs.
“... We’re, like, kind of doomed, aren’t we?” You ask as you deflate at Suna’s small rant.
“I did have a thought to ask for some advice from you, but it didn’t click to me until we started talking that you’re also as blind as me when it comes to this…”
The two of you stay silent for a bit before you both sigh simultaneously as you realise the two of you basically had the same idea to ask each other for advice... only to then get hit with the reality that you two know literally, no exaggeration, nothing. The same thought of wanting to strangle both your managers as well as Director Kurosu at the forefront of your minds as the both of you slump in your seats.
“Would you like to practise a bit of the scenes that might be particularly harder to shoot…?” You propose, glancing at Suna’s pouting face.
“Much appreciated…” Suna mutters as he stands up with you following closely behind.
You step closer to Suna and glance at his notes scribbled on his script. “So, which scene would you like to rehearse?” You ask.
“Of course, the kissing scenes would be the hardest to do… but I think the scene where Hiroki defends Kumiko from her bullies would be a good scene to start. Out of all the scenes, I think it’s the closest thing to scenes we’re more familiar with.” Suna says, tapping on the page with significantly more notes from the other pages you’ve seen on his script.
“Alright. It says here that Hiroki is listening nearby to the bullies, he approaches them and hits the wall, startling the bullies before pulling Kumiko in his arms to defend her.” You mumble to yourself as you go to a corner in the room that seems fit to recreate the scene.
“See here, I’m confused if Hiroki’s face should be looking mad or cold, because here it says that Hiroki’s emotions are described as ‘aggressive’ and 'hostile'.” Suna says, voicing his concerns.
“I guess you can just… improvise? See which fits the scene more?” You suggest, though you’re hesitant. "I really don't know how aggressive and hostile work in this kind of setting..."
“Alright, let’s try it out.”
You get into position, leaning on the wall in a position you think looks weak and afraid, hugging your script as a substitute for the books Kumiko is supposed to be holding. “... You look like you’re a character that’s trying to survive after having your achilles heel injured.” Suna comments.
“For real?” You ask, surprised at just how off your pose is. “Wait, what should I do?”
“I don’t know! Look more helpless, I guess?” Suna answers.
You try your best to look more helpless, as you bring your shoulders in more and put on a more helpless expression, putting less weight on the wall. “Better?” You ask.
“Now you just look like a victim that’s lost all of your will to live.”
“God, shit. We’re doomed.” You curse as you run your hand down your face.

“‘Sumi… when I said I wanted to star in a movie with Suna Rintarou, I didn’t mean a romance drama. And a series at that!” You mutter as you re-read the script your friend handed to you.
“I’m sorry!” Kasumi squeals as she kneels in front of you in an attempt to hide her face. “I really did try to find good horror movies that would star you and Suna, but there is literally none!”
“Okay, I get that, but why a romance drama?” You ask, your brows furrowing even more at the script. “I’m known as the ‘Queen of Modern Horror’! Do you really think I’d be fit to star in a romance drama as the female lead?”
“I tried telling Director Kurosu! I really did! But he insisted on casting you and Suna as the leads!” Kasumi explains as she sighs, sitting up straight. “He said Suna’s manager had already accepted the role and that you’re really needed for the role of the female lead!”
“Damn it!” You curse under your breath as you rub your temples, disgruntled by the current situation. “Fine. But tell Director Kurosu not to expect me to be good at this role.”
You sigh once Kasumi exits your office. You lie down on the loveseat, letting your legs dangle off the armrest. It will be the first in your career, after years of acting as the ghost, murderer, victim, or survivor, this is a role you have the least experience in and you’re basically stepping into the fog blindly.
“Well… I basically accepted already… no use moping around like this…” You mumble to yourself as you will yourself to sit up.
And for the month before your designated filming time, you try to feel the character you’re playing, Shoji Kumiko, while Kasumi reviews the contract and does negotiations back and forth until the contract is agreed upon by you and the filmmakers.
The story isn’t as cliche as you thought for a romance drama. Sure, you notice the usual tropes used, but the premise of the story involves both male and female leads to be somewhat outcasts due to their niche interests or personality, trying to navigate their way through their last year of university together.
Shoji Kumiko, the character you’re playing, is an aloof and quiet forensic science student who has an almost unhealthy interest in religious cults and how they form. She only seems to ramble on about religious cults making her seem weird in the eyes of her peers even if she’s actually quite intelligent overall, already getting offers to work in the police force two semesters before it’s time for her to graduate college.
Ashikaga Hiroki on the other hand, the character Suna’s playing, is a mechanical engineering student who’s a loner and constantly pushes people away due to severe trauma and trust issues from his past. In the movie setting, he’s seen as weird and people avoid him to get away from any of his outbursts from the blurred boundaries he sets.
Kumiko somehow gets through Hiroki’s thick walls, getting him to trust her and open up to her while Hiroki accepts Kumiko’s quirks wholeheartedly, making them have a sweet ending even though the people around them still look down on them. The characters themselves seem to fit your and Suna’s vibes perfectly, no wonder Director Kurosu was so adamant in casting both of you as the leads.
Still, you’re unsure if you’re able to pull this off considering the dramatic and somewhat cheesy lines and scenes you have to act out with Suna. You’re quite sure you’ll mess up a lot during filming as when you’re practising Kumiko’s character alone, you burst out into fits of laughter too many times to count.
The first day of filming rolls around and you and your team arrive at the university where you’ll shoot the scenes needed, meaning you’re staying at a nearby hotel for the next month to complete all the scenes shot in the university. You’re ushered to meet Director Kurosu who smiles at your arrival.
“[Surname]-san! I’m so glad you made it in time. I want to personally thank you again for taking this role.” Director Kurosu says, greeting you.
“It will be quite a challenge for me, but I’ll try my best to embody Kumiko.” You say with a soft smile.
“Oh! Suna-san’s over there, would you like to talk to him first?”
Director Kurosu’s question makes your ears perk up, you’ve always looked up to Suna Rintarou and you would absolutely love to chat and become acquainted with him. You turn your head to where Director Kurosu is pointing at and see Suna there, listening to his manager talk about something, the scene looking like a father (Suna’s manager) scolding his overgrown teenage son (Suna).
Suna’s tall frame has always been noticeable when it comes to most people, visibly muscular even under his hoodie and taller than most Japanese men. His face is a kind of handsome where it looks mysterious and eerie, the kind where his gaze would intimidate another person. Suna Rintarou as a whole absolutely fits the horror genre, either as the villain or the hero of the movie.
“I would like to discuss some parts of the series with him so everything flows more naturally.” You answer, not taking your eyes off of your co-star.
“Then run over everything you need. We’re taking everything slow for today so both you and Suna-san can get used to the flow of everything.” Director Kurosu says. “It’s understandable if you’d like to get used to everything first since both of you have never acted out of the horror genre before.”
“Thank you, I’ll be leaving to go over some things with Suna-san now.” You say with a nod as you walk away from Director Kurosu to talk to your co-star.

Scene 1: 'The Queen of Modern Horror'

The sky is beautiful tonight.
You stare blankly at the starless night sky, the moon hiding behind the dark grey clouds as raindrops harshly pelt your face and body, doing little to wash the blood from your body. You sigh, both in relief and exhaustion as you glance a little off to your side to see the disfigured face of the murderer of your friends, unresponsive and not breathing.
Slowly sitting up, you stare the demon that had been possessing the murderer in the face, his hand extended towards you with a grin of satisfaction and anticipation. “For thee bihofþe bæ ablæ bihofþe defeaÞ mīn vessel meanſ thee art worthī bihofþe becomæ mīn.”
You stare blankly at the demon speaking in a language you can’t understand, yet somehow you understand clearly what he is speaking. ‘For you to be able to defeat my vessel means you are worthy to become mine.’. Your gaze slowly trails to his outstretched hand and a compelling force for you to take it overwhelms you.
You look back up to the demon, your eyes unfocused and dull as if you have nothing else to live for. Before your decision can be documented, the end credits roll, leaving the ending open to the interpretation of the viewers as well as a sequel to showcase your decision.
“God, that was great,” Kasumi, your good friend and manager compliments as she leans back on the sofa and places her arm over her eyes to re-adjust from watching the movie for two whole hours. “When your and Masaki’s characters thought it was over but the movie still had half an hour left was actually a good plot twist.”
“Well, Director Ukai Senior is well-known for plot twists like that.” You comment as you stand up to turn the lights back on. “You said the critics were impressed by this movie?”
“Yeah, the movie critics were absolutely STUNNED by your acting and storyline, it’s a box office hit.” Kasumi answers as she groans from the lights turning on, readjusting her vision to the new lighting. “Director Ukai Senior wants to make a sequel, it’s going to be tough to live up to people’s expectations.”
“No, no, Kasumi. Not the professional movie critics.” You clarify as you head back to the sofa. “The online critics.”
“Oh, you mean the horror junkies making movie reviews on the internet? Loved it. Said it’s a gem in the midst of the mediocre horror movies these days.”
Your lips tug into a smile of satisfaction, when Kasumi gave you the job, you were a bit skeptical and werent as enthusiastic as you have a reputation to uphold as being the ‘Queen of Modern Horror’. You’re glad you trusted your gut and did the job anyway. Ukai Ikkei was a bit tough to work with since he’s strict and a bit of a perfectionist, but he seemed to have favoured you and your experience as he listened to any input you gave to the script to make it less cheesy and better.
“I’ve got to give it to Yamasaki, most script writers take offense when the actors make suggestions to the storyline to make it better but she actually took time to consider and stuff. She’ll make it far in the script writing industry.” You comment as you remind yourself of the meek girl who wrote the fantastic movie script.
“Oh yeah! The online critics also complimented her again and again for her unique storyline. They say it’s a cliche that’s made fresh.” Kasumi says with a grin. “I think she’s starting the sequel for the movie as we speak.”
“Excellent, I hope to work with her again soon.” You say as you stretch your long legs on the sofa. “What else has the internet been saying?”
“Um… most are complimenting the movie… but I guess some are kind of comparing to Ukai Junior’s new movie.” Kasumi answers, thinking back to what she’s read. “The one starring Suna Rintarou.”
“Oh, you mean the thriller-gore fiasco of a movie, ‘The Crypts’? That’s also a great movie, the genius horror director genes run in the Ukai family.” You say with a nod of approval. “Suna’s acting is also great in the movie, his role as the killer in the movie looked so realistic even I was spooked.”
“You know, you and Suna are dubbed the ‘King and Queen of Modern Horror’, it’s weird that you’ve never acted in a movie together.” Kasumi comments absentmindedly as she opens her phone to look at the incoming reviews. “I think it would be one of the best movies of the generation if you two starred in the movie together.”
“I was wondering that as well, actually. I’d love for an opportunity to act with him, like I don’t even care if I end up covering my face for the role of the antagonist, I just want to star in a movie with him.”
“I’ll try to find a role for you that also stars him. I think it’d be a good opportunity for you both.” Kasumi says with a grin.
“I will literally bow at your feet if you ever manage to do that.” You say with a laugh. “I know damn well that movie will be the talk of all media if we star in the same movie.”
“Count on me, girlie. I’ve got your back.”
That was what you said to Kasumi about three months ago, thinking that the movie you’d star in with Suna Rintarou was going to be a horror movie, as you expected. But to your horror and confusion, the script in your hand is the farthest thing from a horror movie script.
“‘Sumi… when I said I want to star in a movie with Suna Rintarou, I didn’t mean a romance drama. And a series at that!” You mutter as you re-read the script your friend handed to you.
