I had this theory in the back of my mind when we first met Xenos, but now more than ever I believe CyGames has purposefully made Xenos to be a representation of Nintendo itself.

Let’s simply start with his appearance. The blue eyes/earring on his left and red eyes/earring on his right fits perfectly for the Switch Joy-Con colors. The D-Pad tattoo on his chest also fits well for another gaming reference. This design looks like if you made Nintendo into a manifested god.

Secondly let’s talk about his role in the story. In a nutshell he’s all about Order™️ and structuring things the way HE sees fit. Much like how Nintendo has been directing how this game can and cannot be run. He is the true villain of the whole game and is set on destroying this world. Much like how Nintendo is shutting down this game. Sure, it could be said that CyGames might’ve had a part in the decision to end the game, but I think they could at least blame Nintendo for the game’s doom.

And thirdly it’s all about timing. The official reveal of this villain (specifically from within Phares) was somewhat recently and his quick rise as the biggest threat kind of feels heavy handed given the game’s real world situation.

All-in-all, I might be pulling at some weak threads but I still feel strongly that Xenos is supposed to be a representation of Nintendo, at least to some degree.

Which is why, I’m already theorizing that, due to the closing of this game, Xenos might actually win in the final chapter of Dragalia Lost.

As tragic and depressing as that might be, I’m sure the Prince and crew will say in their final moments that we’ll meet again or that they’ll move on to a different world or something like that. Something uplifting as the world of Dragalia Lost, as we know it, figuratively and literally, ends.

Okay I haven’t been on in awhile but I figured with the new information for Dragalia Lost’s 3.5 Anniversary, it’s a good time to express a few things.

Firstly, I am just crushed that Dragalia is coming to an end. Yes, I understand mobile games aren’t meant to stay around for too long and they need money to be ongoing, but it still doesn’t mean saying farewell is easy. I wish they had maybe tried a monthly subscription pass or something like FEH has. With how generous the game had always been I would’ve been more receptive to supporting the game with that method. But alas, Nintendo says no more.

Looking back these past few months, I guess the writing really was on the wall. With them releasing huge story characters and dragons, bringing the 12 Wyrmclan leader’s together in the last New Year’s Event, not announcing a collab, and not really discussing future characters beyond Pia’s Alt… it should’ve been obvious.

Dragalia genuinely is my favorite mobile game and probably in my top ten games period. And it stinks that after this all ends I’ll have nothing directly to show for the love and dedication I poured into it. And I was so proud to reach this milestone (ironically accomplished today): all of my adventurers (I’m currently at 252) are at Mana Node 50 or higher. 3.5 years of striving towards that goal, making sure each character I had was given love and attention… When I should be celebrating this accomplishment, I just feel somewhat hollow.

I’ll still keep playing until they lock up the doors for the last time. And now I have a few months to come to accept this but wow is this hard. Literally every other game, if I feel nostalgic for it, I can find a way to boot it up and relive the magic. But no way for Dragalia. I will ALWAYS hope that either the game gets revived (looking at you Princess Connect Re:Dive) or Nintendo finds some sort of way to make a Switch game that uses mechanics and story from DL (long shot but I can dream).

To the Dragalia Lost community: I’ve sadly never dove deep into Reddit, Discord, or other places where fellow fans gather. I just kinda lurked from the sidelines but I still felt quite the love for this game coming from everyone. To the fans, the theorists, the fan artists, and a special shout-out to Dragalia Foundry, thank you for making this game feel extra special.
