Emil cloak wip! Gotta make the arm holes next, add the belting & rings, then make the upper layer. And I'll tinker with making an eva foam collar to give the scarf a rigid structure. It'll look nicer, easier to wear, and safer.
Getting a new scarf together before starting the cloak.
I love the muted colors compared to the original fabric! I put in some light quilting batting & fusible interfacing on the inside to help floof it up & give it structure to look better wrapped around the bottom of an Emil head.
Emil fabrics are here! And up on my Spoonflower!
Updated the scarf's colors (the old ones are still available for some variety to pick from). I'm super happy with how the cloak came out! I'm hoping it helps provide folks with some more game-accurate resources!
When printing long bolts, you can see where Spoonflower's formatting splices it, so maker beware: you'll need to cut & spice together the bolts a bit. I for the life of me just could not figure out SF's proofing thing.
Oh man, I found a year 2000 Chuck E Cheese token in my bag of unusual coins. I'm gonna inlay that bad boy into the Marlin model 60 stock lmao. Make it into a true varmint rifle once the dovetail rail comes in to plop the 4x on it. Groundhogs beware.
I still can't get over how Microsoft blue balled us with that Perfect Dark teaser. Joanna being in Cairo watching a wild ass storm brew.
Was she there to investigate the tombs & Russia's research on Saturn? Are they gonna make the lost Perfect Dark sequels where Earth gets teleported into the past via black hole and becomes Saturn's moon, Titan?
Close up of the new Emil head(s)!
The texture is right from the mold, so each one will have the same texture pattern. Primed, then painted in acrylics.
Palette: Titanium White, Burnt Umber, Mars Black, Raw Umber, and a little Burnt Sienna.
Buckram from fursuits for the eyes, with cross stitch mesh as backing to support the eyes.
Emil 2.0 is done!
Still technically a prototype, with the two halves clam shelling on around the head. I'll try cementing two halves together on one of the extra set of casts and cut the neck hole wider to slip on over the wearer's head like my 2018 one. Gotta tinker some more.
It was interesting trying to rig up the connectors with what I had on hand. I recommend an extra set of hands to help put it on. Being snowed in for a week now hasn't helped since I couldn't make it to the hardware store, and I'll be shipping this out tomorrow to overnight it to it's new owner to hopefully make it there in time for the concert!
First run of new Emil head casts!
Of the 3 sets, I'm gonna keep the worst/most flawed one to tinker with & make usable. Other than that, it's time to start trimming/fine tune the edges to match up, and think of a good way to make these wearable with the magnets.
I have an idea, just need to prototype it out when I finish trimming.
Emil head halves molded up. Just ordered a bunch of plaster bandages because I just simply don't feel like working with fiberglass in my space and not out on the porch because it's cold out.

I'm gonna trim the registration keys down a little just so it's easier to take the shells off.
2023 (wip) vs. 2018
Hardly feels like it's been 5 years since I made my first Emil head.
I'm so excited to be making a new mold for the new one and add those to the line up for comms n stuff!
Got the texture put on with the Liquitex's acrylic modelling paste. Gonna let dry for a bit before a light sanding to soften the little peaks. Have the eyes set aside with a little bit of the texturing on them to match.
I sometimes wonder if doing instagram stories annoys & chases away followers? I hate bugging people in general. But I kinda like doing little "how I made this" things. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
