The Hidden Life of Garbage: Hidding in Plain Sight.
By Heather Rogers.
"If people saw what happened to their waste, lived with the stench, witnessed the scale of destruction, they might start asking difficult questions. "
-Header Rogers/AlterNet.
The way in which the author makes valid her points are just amazing, like she starts by getting us to the very first beginning of everything and it makes me wonder why we are so consumerists. I see her point in there, she was clever with the least and enough words she could use. She wanted to make us feel disgusted by the way in which the sickening or nauseated oddor we could perceive from her descriptions just by reading; with probably the main purpose of not only make us feel more even guilty from our waste decisions but to make us change our habits for good.

A Place Called Midland by Susan Orlean.
In this piece of reading I was able to see and understand that the author's purpose was to make the audience get to know what the piece of land that Midland is. Taking us through a long reading with every detail that helps us to imagine how does it look like.
It seems to me that you shoul be interested in visit that place in order to enjoy it to the fullest, the way in ehich the author writes and/or describe this place is totally different as other writings I have read; as a result of her usage of language that personally I think it is informative and in this specific scenario is effective in order to make us feel in there. The language use in there is totally formal and in perspective kind of objective, with some subjective parts in which she describes it even further.
In order of her writing to be more valid I found she uses the technique of quoting others people's ideas in order to make it feel more real or valid in a way, which in my opinion makes her words even more strong and important than without having the support of a direct quotation. In addition, I found that she uses numbers and dates as an important factor in the reading.

How to read like a writer:
If you really want to become an excellent reader ir writer while reading, keep reading this.
As what I could rescue from the reading, everyone has a different perspective, opinion or way to their things and so when it becomes to pieces of reading. Learning or knowing how to read like a writer will give you the chance to understand in a better way the most accurate reason what every single word the writer used really mean. It would make you more critical about the readings therefore more precise at understanding it. And as you became critical I supposed that there would be a lit of pieces of work that you would not like, just because it is not as neat as you are use to write or read like.

Aliens, love - where are they?
What is our place in the universe?
John Hodgman TED talk from 2008.
So it all started when John told that in 1950, Enrico Fermi an Italian-American physicist and atomic pile builder in Los Alamos National Laboratory, starts wondering where is everybody? He meant if we as humans are totally alone, if there are creatures out there or even more "dangerous" or interesting they are among us, and they have been for a really long time.
After that he starts sharing with the audience his encounters with alien activity:
1980, Ocean City, NJ when he was a 9yo child. He went to spend his vacations with his family and went outside to see the night sky instead of being inside with kids of his age and other older humans. As he passed his time watching Sky Junk as he called it like, a couple of two old people who he figured had a romantic dinner approached him and the man made jokes about aliens.
In the second encounter 1984, Brookline, Massachusetts John was a 13yo who went to the movies to watch The Dune movie with his friend Tim McGonagall. He shares that on his other side in the cinema was this girland her mom who were both really good fans of the book and so the movie. She asked if he was looking further to watch the movie and so he answered "yes", without even turning to talk back to her. At the end of the movie when everyone was on their way to the exit of the cinema the girl still there sitting as he felt she wanted to keep talking. At the end, he just left.
It was 1989 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania when 18 yo John went to the movie theater to watch Communion by Withley Strieber in which it was mentioned that the alien abduction make people remember 10 something, 10 minutes before the abduction, hours or even days. It was an unreal movie but it was presented how aliens look like by a police drawing, aliens are kind of large headed creatures with really big eyea. The most relevant part of this encounter or John's experience was that he went out with her girlfriend to watch it.
Last encounter, 1991 Algarve, Portugal 20yo John with his girlfriend who he wanted to be called "Catherine Fletcher". Any of them knew how to speak Portuguese but they deal with it, rhey visited Sagred a city where he received a bit from a dog in his butt, as a consequence he decided not to make Catherine company to her last day in Portugal wish to visit a beach where for you to see you need to first take a bus and then a boat. As he stayed invthe hotel, he started to worry about his girlfriend who hadn't come back, he waited for her in a bus stop where some guys make him companny. They at some point mentioned to John that they were not alone, that they were aliens.
I don't know how reliable this story could result, but the most probable is that John is just making up everything related to his craziness about aliens.

A South African Storm by Allison Howard.
At first I didn't know the real point of the article at all. I didn't know if it would be about the life there in Africa, the weather or even about grocery shopping. Until she mentioned how a walk under the rain can remind all of us how unfair and cruel our world is. Or well not our world but the people, we just classify people as how we were taught to abd that just can not happen anymore. In my opinion hate, division and differences are the worst qualities we as humans can have and so, I try to do my best even though I am not perfect or being close to be. I rather just be blind to the worst of the world I rather not watch the horrible news and be uninformed and ignorant instead of seeing how other people discriminate.

So today's topic is about my Work Habits.
Which I would like to share with you in the following list:
I'm a workaholic but in a "good" way, I know how much I can pressure myself with my school duties in order not to make me sick and visit the hospital, so I kind of learn how to manage the time and my tasks.
I like to be the leader🙃 so, in other words I would probably tell my teammates what to do. Sometimes that gives the other people a vibe that I am arrogant or a really sick bossy person, but that is just my personality. It is worth mentioning that I express myself with all of the due respect to them.
On the other hand both of those habits are good and bad at the same time, because the mostly cause me a lot of unnecessary stress in my life so I really need to work on that!

Thrift Shopping
I personally love thrift shopping adventures and here is why:
You can find as many unique pieces of clothing.
You are helping the environment.
It is cheaper to buy in an Americana store than in a first-hand store.
The clothing is very durable.
Sometimes you can find brand new clothes.
A lot of vintage pieces are in the Americanas waiting for you to buy them.
Trendy clothes are there always to be found.

Nicki is on Flames
So today's topic is about Nicki Minaj and her explosive life, why "explosive" you may ask, well that is a way in which I personally would describe it because she is such a character and such a woman, who is worth mentioning that she is also a  rapper.  In my opinion, I love how she expresses all the time that girl let me tell you, is not afraid of anything; she does not care about what other people may think. In addition, the part where the author mentioned the accident that happened with her dad in the past shook me because I have ever heard of such an accident before. That probably was the "fire" that make her be a flame in the mess of this world to be her own voice and be recognized as such an extremely transparent Hip-Hop rapper.

A little bit about me.
Tumblr media
I'm Alexandra and I'm 18 years old. My favorite color can not be defined so I would say every single one. I live in Tres Ríos and I have two pets a dog and a cat, Bear and Thay respectively.
I have a lot of hobbies that I really like to spend my free time in, such as work out, painting, reading, watching TV shows and movies, and thrifting.
I'm persuing English Teaching because I love languages and most English, I have grown with English as a game or hobby never as an obligation so I discover my passion. Since I was a kid in Elementary I have this big whiteboard in which I taught my stuffed animals and my now deceased dog Kuki every single day after school all of the topics on the subjects I saw. By that time I didn't even imagine that I would become a teacher!
