Alright, to ao3's soon to be arriving Wattpad Refugees, a basic guide to general user culture:

1.) Unlike Wattpads vote system that let's you like each chapter, the ao3 equivalent kudos only allows one per work. Everyone is generally quietly annoyed about this. To engage with each chapter, you're heavily encouraged to comment. Trust me, it makes people's day.

2.) Ao3 has no algorithm. By default it's latest updated work first. You can find things to your taste through searches, filters and tags.

3.) 'No archive warnings apply' and 'user has chosen not to use archive warnings' mean two very different things. No archives warnings means the work is free from any content that could require a warning tag (character death, graphic depictions of violence, non-con, etc). User has chosen not to use archive warnings means it could contain any of the warning content, be it hasn't been explicitly tagged. Treat it like an allergen. No archive warnings apply is allergen free. User has chosen not to use archive warnings, may contain traces or whole chunks of the allergen. If you're likely to have a bad reaction, maybe don't take the risk.

4.) Speaking of warnings, ao3 has very few restrictions on the type of work that's allowed. Whatever your personal thoughts or feelings on that are, thats how the site is. You're likely to run across some dark subject matters and a lot of people are uncomfortable with reading that. You're well within your rights not like these works and have your opinion on whether they should be allowed, but harassing the authors of such works (or any works) is more likely to come back on you than them. Ao3 operates on a strong policy of 'don't like, don't read'. Use the tagging system to your full advantage to only engage with the kind of works you want to see.

How to post images within a story on AO3

Not definitive. Not the ultimate. But it works for me. And I’m not a code monkey, so don’t ask me detailed questions (or you can ask if you want to watch me go “buh buh buh…). This is just what I’ve managed to patch together from other people’s instructions. I wanted it all in one place. And I wanted to share.

Step 1: Open your AO3 account. You’re going to create a skin that you’ll be able to reuse. On the left side menu, choose ‘Skins’. Click on ‘My Work Skins’. And then click on ‘Create Work Skin’. Paste this into the CSS box exactly as is:

The reason for this skin is to keep the image within the borders of whatever device the reader is on. So if they’re using a smart phone, the image will fit the smaller screen and they won’t have to scan over to see the entire thing. If they’re on their computer, the image will fit within the borders of that screen too. Technically you wouldn’t have to use this skin at all, but I find it annoying to have a large image on a small phone and not to be able to see it in its entirety. This is just something nice to do for your reader.

Give it a unique title (mine, for example, is ‘Whiskey image’, but you can call it whatever the hell you’d like). Save it.

Step 2: If you don’t have DropBox, get DropBox. It’s a free app. The reason you want DropBox is to host the image and DropBox provides a static IP address, unlike tumblr. Create your account in DropBox and upload the image/s you want to host. There are other hosting apps you can use. I don’t use them. If you think whatever you use is better, use that. As long as the IP is static, I don’t care. Just for gods sake, don’t use tumblr to host your image. Their IP addresses are subject to change and that will break your image link. (NB: Step 4 probably won’t apply if you use something other than DropBox.)

While you’re in DropBox on the website, notice that when you highlight the image you want to insert, there’s a ‘Share’ button. This will give you the permanent link you’ll be using soon.

Step 3: Create your story in AO3 (or, for an existing story, click on ‘Edit’). In the 3rd box down, called ‘Associations’, select the skin you saved in Step 1 from the drop down menu. This will apply to the entire story, so you won’t have to do it for each chapter if you’re posting multiple images.

When you go to copy and paste your story into the chapter text box, be sure to click 'Rich Text’ before doing so. Then paste your story in.

Place your curser where you want the image. Go back to DropBox, click 'Share’ and create a link, then copy the image IP address. Or, if you’re working off the app on your computer, right click the image and select ‘Copy DropBox Link’. Go back to AO3 and click on 'Insert/edit image’ from the menu across the top of the text box. Copy the link into the 'Source’ box.

This next step is very important! Do not skip this part!

Step 4: At the end of the IP address, delete dl=0 and replace with raw=1. If you don’t do this bit, all the other stuff is for naught and it won’t work.

So say it with me now. Delete dl=0 and replace with raw=1.

Right. Almost done, boy-o.

Fill in an image description if you’d like.

Leave the dimensions alone.

Click 'ok’.

The image should appear like magic. Preview it just to be sure. Celebrate your genius with the beverage of your choice.

Anyway the best isekai is the one where the highschool girl gets reborn as a spider and commits cannibalism in the first chapter

Class A loving the way Midoriya carries super heavy stuff without breaking a sweat and tricking him into doing it so they can watch and drool to their heart's content.

"Midoriya!" Kaminari rushes towards him in the hallway. "I lost my phone under the couch and I can't reach it! Could please help me?"

"Of course!" Midoriya beams, following him towards the common room. He's so happy to help he doesn't think about the fact half of the class is already there, looking at him intently.

He also doesn't find strange that Uraraka hasn't offered to help even though she can easily solve the problem by using her quirk.

Bakugo knows already what's going on, but he decides not to scold his friends for coming up with that plan because he also wants to see. He's very much interested and it's the perfect opportunity not to ask the nerd to lift something himself. He doesn't want to be too obvious about his crush, even though everyone knows he's in love with Midoriya.

"Which one?"

"I... don't remember, sorry..."

"It's okay! I'll lift them both!"

"Maybe we should get off then–"

"That won't be necessary, Kirishima!" Midoriya assures him, missing the way the redhead's eyes open wide in shock as Ashido squeaks with delight.

He carries one easily and since he doesn't see the phone underneath it, he uses his left hand to lift the other at the same time.

"There it is!" Kaminari takes his phone, face completely red as Aoyama blurts out a mon dieu! and Todoroki has to run outside as soon as Midoriya puts the couches back on the floor because he's already on fire.

After that they're constantly asking him to lift heavy things in front of them; sometimes they ask him to move the fridge, to carry Jiro's instruments from one place to another or to move their beds in order to find something they lost... Most of them have to be there to see it (they have an agreement) and it has to be during their free time so Aizawa doesn't find out.

One day, during his internship with Endeavor, Midoriya has to move an entire car with people inside out of harm's way and a fan (simp) takes a video of the moment with his phone and posts it online.

Hours later hero Deku is trending on Twitter and now class A students are not the only teenagers thirsting over Midoriya.

They don't like that at all. Sometimes Bakugo has to fight a couple of Deku's simps online while the others cheer for him.

Fem!Izuku 💚

Technically a doodle since it only took me 2-3 hours to finish.

I know Horikoshi drew him as a girl with short hair but I like to imagine it longer, fluffy and styled like his mother's.

Not entirely sure how big of a difference growing up quirkless as a girl would be and how much that would've affected her once she entered UA but, again, I'm no author so I'll keep it simple:

As per my headcanon, she's still roughly the same with ofc more feminine mannerisms and I reckon there'd be some differences with her fighting style/patterns even when she's trying to imitate All might (bc I know I'd probably move different if I was a guy). She's still bestfriends with Iida and Ochaco but would also be closer to her other female classmates and would attend any scheduled hang outs with them unless it falls on a training day with All might or smtg--Girls night every other week or month once they enter the dorms.

Speaking of All might, he's already doting on male Izuku but he'll probably be even more protective if he was a girl (doesn't help that he's reminded of Nana when he sees her hairstyle). Aizawa doesn't believe in the notion that girls be automatically coddled bc of their gender but I'm sure after getting to know his number one problem child, he'll low-key be more sweet on her than the rest and is extra harsh during training bc he wants to make sure she can protect herself.

Izuku is exasperated but also appreciates it and would indulge them bc they're her dads.

Self indulgent thought: She has her hoard of admirers (villains included) but is extremely dense and anything but a blunt no nonsense confession to her face will be perceived as a reach out for friendship. Katsuki is her guard dog in these matters bc he definitely likes her but is being stupid about it, understandable considering their still unresolved-complicated past, so he takes it upon himself to keep away other dunces who think they can get lucky. Shouto and Hitoshi have a pass bc they're her friends, but he keeps an eye on them just in case.

Self indulgent thought #2: as a girl who grew up quirkless, she's def more sensitive when it comes to sa/ppl generally taking advantage of others and so would've snapped and had Mineta expelled on the first week, if not first day of class. That would've opened up a spot early for Hitoshi to join in. With Izuku's power of persuasion to wear down his i-didnt-come-here-to-make-friends stance and Hitoshi finding out that she was the reason for him getting into hero class so soon? The guy was an instant goner and never looked away since. The todoroki vs deku fight during the festival is a fixed event in my hc so Shouto fell in love there.

for the blog I guess I could answer: tumblr settings -> customize appearance, I don't really have a lot of money outside of my savings so I can't spend it on premium features like the cool themes tumblr offers, but there are some cool ones for free so you can choose one and pick your favorite colors n,n

For the links, when you want to post something in your dashboard, you can highlight a word/sentence and a bunch of different options will appear

The two chains linked together are to (literally) link another internet webpage to the word or sentence you highlighted :v. I think it's easier on a computer or laptop, but from what I've seen it works on smartphones and tablets as well
