#MarchMeetTheMaker Day 22 - Mistake/Lesson Learned 🧶🧶 I think this is a mistake every small craft business makes. Custom orders / commissions… I love them. I love making peoples ideas and dreams into reality. But, what I’ve learned is that a non-refundable deposit is a must. I had a woman order a queen size blanket with wool yarn. We discussed color options, she picked her yarn, we discussed price, she agreed. I bought the yarn, and trust me, it was a lot. And while I (at least) didn’t get ghosted, I did get an email 3 days after I purchased several hundred dollars worth of yarn saying she had found one she liked at Walmart and didn’t need mine anymore. This was 8 years ago. That cream wool, I still have about half of it.
