I would like to make one thing very clear.
Helaena never flinched away from Alicent because she hates her and is afraid of her. She flinches away because she is autistic and hates touch. I occasionally do the same thing with my husband, it doesn’t mean I hate him. It means I don’t respond well to physical contact.

Got a commission done by @highgardenart of the Queen in the North, Sansa Stark ever since i started watching Game of Thrones since i was around middle school age i had a connection with Sansa she was just a simple girl thrown to the lions den and forced herself to climb out of it.
As a young girl with a bad home life myself I understood and related to her she was the heroine in her own story and I only finished GoT because I wanted to see the end of her characters journey, do I think she'll be Queen of the North in the books , don't know GRRM does like to keep us waiting but I do hope for Sansa that she gets to have the life she wanted once all her enemies are dead.

Guys there are soooo many Catherine II bio pics, which is to say, vote The Duelist, because it's unique, sexy and has Pavel Tabakov in it :) Come on, do it for these puppy eyes (and the weird, gay sexual tension in this scene....)

I wrote a whole Tyrion post with Thoughts, but accidentally posted it to the wrong blog. Panicked, tried to copy the text, deleted the post before pasting what I copied. And only then realized that tumblr fucked me again and only coped the last paragraph *sob*
Welp. At least no one's gonna come after me for my Takes?

It's honestly really misogynistic to say that Alicent "seduced" Viserys the way some people do. And I'm not even talking about the age difference or her youth, though they're not irrelevant. The thing is, nothing we see Alicent do vis-a-vis this situation is in any way sexual or seductive. She and Viserys have conversations. That's all. (Completely none-sexual or romantic ones, as far as we see btw.) Yes, they are alone for at least some of them, but during these conversations Alicent is dressed modestly, acts modestly/a bit shyly, sometimes even looks uncomfortable. She sits at a respectable distance from Viserys. They don't touch. Most of the conversation seems to revolve around him, his grief for his wife, his hobbies, etc.
Is it possible that Viserys, through these conversations, became attracted to a pretty, apparently empathetic girl/woman? Of course! But that's on him, not Alicent. To say that her being kind, polite and pretty is seduction and that a man's ultimate interest in her is somehow her fault is ridiculous and the same kind of victim blaming misogyny that leads to people saying things like "well. if she didn't want to be sexually assaulted/raped, maybe she shouldn't have flirted/worn a short skirt/etc." Yes, Otto was hoping that Viserys would become interested in her; maybe he was hoping Alicent would be more proactive in her efforts. But she wasn't. All she did was exist as a kind person in his vicinity. Stop blaming women for being attractive and nice where men can see.

Something striking about the relationship between Rhaenyra and Alicent that the show tries to awkwardly scoot past is that time and time again, Alicent sacrifices her own interests and desires for Rhaenyra's benefit, while Rhaenyra never does the reverse. Alicent teaches Rhaenyra history, dresses and crowns her for her investment ceremony, comforts her after her mother's death, advises Viserys *against* naming Aegon heir, supports reconciliation between Rhaenyra and Viserys that ultimately gets her father and sole supporter fired, seriously considers switching sides to her despite the severe risk to her own children, and goes against her father to try and save her life. The most Rhaenyra gives Alicent is a few hollow words of praise in episode 8.
Though the show doesn't seem to realize it, their relationship isn't one of equals, but of master and servant. Otto and Alicent are parallels in this sense - both are in a sense, servants of the Targaryens who do not wish to merely serve. But the show buys into the expectation of their service and Targaryen masterdom uncritically: the great crime of Otto and Alicent is their attempt to subvert the natural order of things rather than meekly serving their Targaryen masters. It's why Alicent is most sympathetic when she is loyal to Rhaenyra, but the reverse isn't true, because why would Rhaenyra be expected to do anything for a mere servant like Alicent?
Which really just goes to show the big class blind spot the show has. By presenting "goodness" as solely a function of how closely one can follow Viserys' orders, they're regurgitating one aspect of medieval social customs to oppose another. With this context, Rhaenyra and Alicent's relationship feels less healthy and a lot more like a premonition of Alicent's relationship to Viserys, with similar power imbalances. Rhaenyra and Alicent love each other, but Rhaenyra sees Alicent as a sidekick at best, doesn't take her seriously as someone with her own inner life and desires, and is sensitive to Alicent's perceived disobedience ("questioning my virtue is an act of treason.")
I think it also gives context to Criston and Alicent's relationship, given that Criston is *also* relatively low nobility, and a servant to the Targaryens, who feels taken advantage of by them, and whose great crime is trying to be something other than a servant, to *make* kings, not just to serve them.

i need to talk about laenor for a minute
"he was happy!" "ha wanted to leave his family!"
mmmm are you sure?
because in ep 6 he wants to leave KL, yeah, but he def does not want to disappear. he wants to join his family in the stepstones. he's tired, he's done. he has "played his part". was he really that happy with his modern family in KL? because it sure didn't sound like it when rhaenyra has to command him to stay by her side because she needs him to keep covering up for her.
when rhaenyra and daemon had that convo in ep 6 when rhaenyra wanted to have laenor killed and daemon convinced her to give him a choice.
the choice was go away or we'll kill you.
they actually went to laenor on his sister's funeral, when his family needed him the most and made him leave. laenor wanted to leave KL to join his family in the stepstones. he never wanted his family to think he's dead, especially not when they've just lost laena.
and that plot makes 0 sense because if laenor ever comes back rhaenyra and daemon will be branded as liars and traitors & their children will be declared as illegitimate. not to mention, if rhaenys and corlys ever find out about what they did their alliance is over. like rhaenys will literally burn them. the fact that they knew how much corlys and rhaenys suffered and still chose not to tell them about laenor is so messed up.
