Here's my latest 3D print project - Ultra Magnus!
Admittedly, I've told a few people that my next Transformer model would be a Bumblebee, but I had already started modeling Magnus' head. Heck, I even considered ONLY doing the head and putting it on the Optimus body, but that wouldn't be as fun.
Speaking of Optimus, I took the approach of "retooling" my Optimus model. After all, the original toy is essentially Optimus, but with a car carrier trailer that becomes battle armor (which the cartoon bypassed and just made the armored form his character design). I did do a little prototype head, but I didn't consider the design final until I could look at it and hear Robert Stack's voice coming from it, which is what we have here. As for the printing itself, I used blue, matte red, and silk white overall, and black and silk silver for the tires and hubcaps (on his feet). Then it was the usual assembly with superglue, and on some areas using Perler beads as guide posts. The only paint on him is a metallic blue for the eyes, and the Autobot logo was from a small decal sheet I got with TransArt Metal T. Rex.
Naturally, he's quite hefty!
Also of note with the comparison shots, you can see where I had loads of fun with the silk silver, especially on that Optimus and Megatron (I made that Soundwave prior to getting it, so those silver parts are all painted).
Since I went bigger with Magnus, I think it'll be kinda fun to do Bumblebee next (for real this time), since he'd be smaller. Just need some yellow filament first.

I was last at A2F in 2018; I've been really wanting to go back, but it's always fallen on the same weekend as another show I had already locked in. I took this piece to Planet Comicon with me last weekend (where Ron Perlman and Charlie Hunnam so happened to be guests), and all my prints and posters sold out! I took a couple spare posters to give to Ron and Charlie, but with how extremely busy it all was, I had to resort to just dropping those off at their booths so I wouldn't leave mine unattended for too long.
But that said, I had a good time at that show! And if you missed out in (or just weren't able to make it), I have the piece up on Storenvy now, including the original canvas!

Better late than never, but here is my tribute to ten whole years of the masterpiece that is PACIFIC RIM!
Oh, man. I had started this some time last year, and then I stepped away from it for a few months. I was scared half to death I wasn't gonna be able to finish it without starting the whole thing over. Thankfully, I was able to figure out which colors I used (I didn't clean my palette from the last time I worked on it), and by simply telling myself to just DO it, I managed to pull it off.

"To have never gone to war is something to be proud of."
A lot of GODZILLA MINUS ONE's anti-war message resonates heavily with me. Despite being set ~80 years ago and specifically in one region of the world, its sentiment is universal.
And I turn to the real world, and I see the very thing the movie spoke against - no one deserves to die just because some well-dressed people in business suits say so.
"One side must be obliterated" is not anti-war. Lobbing munitions capable of leveling entire buildings and calling the casualties "human shields" is not anti-war. Boasting of being an upholder of peace while supplying weapons to oppressors is not anti-war.
Saying no to a ceasefire is not anti-war.
