Someone just reblogged some of my fan art with an almost 3000 word long think piece on how they don’t like my comedic response to an ask, presumably because they take it as some kind of personal insult and not ‘haha character funnee’. I managed to copy it and save it to check the word count, and I’m glad I did because I wanna reblog it (since it might be the funniest thing that has ever happened to me and it’s a ride from start to finish) but alas I think they also instantly deleted the post, (or it’s just too long for tumblr to handle), because the reblog option throws out an error every time I try to reblog it.

Are there other mythology wolves you draw?

Not really! If there's an interesting creature with wolf parts in heraldry, I'll probably draw them eventually in Sonic-style as part of my lil 'for fun' side project. Generally speaking though, I'm pretty neutral on wolves? Love the animal/species complex itself, but I'm fairly meh on how media tends to mis-handle them... The whole 'lone wolf, alpha wolf' thing that seems to inspire edgy young men is a load of bull for instance, and I don't wanna feed into it by drawing wolves and people getting the wrong idea. That's probably silly of me but it's a weird uncomfortable feeling that's stuck with me since I was pretty young, honestly.

In terms of drawing canids, I actually find some of the more basal canids and caniforms(sp?) really interesting behaviourally and morphologically. Things like gray foxes, dholes, and jackals!

Say where did you find all of those polish food bootleg sonic characters? are they really all dragons or can we change up the species thing if we want to fix their designs?

They're mascots made by the international food company Galileo! Specifically, they're found on pickled and preserved foods under their brand in Poland, Europe... Presumably because Sonic's copyright would be hard to enforce there due to language barriers, time and money. I don't know if they're in use any more, but you can still find images of some of their character designs (lmao) by looking up things like 'Galileo pickle sonic'. Some of the weirder ones I found on polish speaking sonic forums and imageboards. Not that I speak polish, I was just feeling particularly determined that day. XD The description of them being dragons is written in polish on the food labels (which yes, I did squint at and feed into google translate to see if I could glean some kind of Deep Lore) iirc it's something cheesy like: 'this lil' dragon LOVES our crunchy pickles!!'. It's rewritten some for every product so I don't think they get called dragons every single time. Honestly they're pretty good springboards for redesigning into sonic fan characters~ My silly take on them is a bunch of hedgehogs with some dragon ancestry that run a fas food chain, but your preferred version might be totally different!

Saibamen! Something I’ve been pecking at in between other projects- Based extremely loosely on those tourism-style postcards that talk about native plants or wildlife on one side... But with the grow-your-own plant monsters from the Dragon Ball series. <3 It’s a little too vague to be spec-bio content, but I find the in-universe history and function of these lil goblins interesting and they’ve kind of grown on me. I also had a ton of fun cramming in lots of little references to places, people and things from the extended franchise into the stamps and seals, so hopefully people get a kick out of those too. c:

I cannot stress enough how funny it is that in japanese, Frieza exclusively (as far as I’ve found) refers to his father, King Cold, as ‘papa’. Even when frieza is like, somewhere around the 40-50 year mark by Dragon Ball Super. When he’s asking what happened to his father, he doesn’t say ‘what happened to my dad/father/king cold’ he just says ‘papa wa?’. The thing is though? His followers are so used to this that they just know what he means anyway. This has noticeable repercussions by the way on his underlings: Sorbet legitimately seems to not actually know what Frieza’s dad is called, and even before Frieza is back on the scene he refers to King Cold as ‘papa frieza’/frieza’s papa. This man, the great King Cold, once ruled at very least a galactic arm’s worth of territory... But nope, everyone knows him as Papa Frieza.

So did Frieza get attached to Kuriza as soon as he was born, or did it take a while for him to become A Decent DadTM?

I feel like if they didn't have strong, inbuilt parental instincts, the frieza family would have all killed each other by now. I mean, there's at least one instance of Cold's kid/s killing him in the extended franchise so if anything it might be a one-way kind of attachment... X'D

starts day bright and early, at a normal human hour, has breakfast with spouse and is generally having a great start to the day! online group talking about bug fixing for an issue I mentioned earlier, so I join discussion person says something mildly argumentative in my direction over an extremely slight misunderstanding of wording (approx. me suggesting a method of fixing vs. me offering to do fix.. it was the former ftr) well now my day’s just fucking ruined aint it >:c I’m smart enough to know I need to find something else to do to change my mood and what I’m thinking about- I have an image I’ve been working on, I’ve taken a shower, I’m having lunch... But my mood’s still kinda bad even though I know it’s dumb as hell to be bummed out. man it’s been going on a decade since I last had someone professional to talk to about this kinda thing, good thing ‘get a therapist’ is on my to do list for next month. :/
