More hair clips! ⛅☁️ This time a set of minis! I'm still working out the best and most secure ways to attach the clay to the barrettes, so if these sell they'll be at a discount (along with the other clay clips I've made so far) because the curve and tension in the clip are really making things difficult. (If any of my fellow polymer clay artists have tips to share for this, please do!) I think I may try gluing and sewing the next batch of clay pieces to felt and attaching them that way. More hair clips you say?? This leaf barrette is, if I do say so myself, so cute! It's a hand tufted leaf made with cotton embroidery thread on a cotton backing, finished with a first green polyester felt. The clip on the back is both glued and sewn by hand into place so it's both lightweight and sturdy as heck! I hope everyone has a great holiday, and I hope you'll also have a great new year. Hair clips incoming! I've made resin clips in the past, but this is my first foray into polymer clay clips, and they are, surprisingly, a bit more of a beast. I'm dreaming up some other types of clips and accessories to put together, as well as some easier methods to attach the clay pieces to the clip. Stay tuned! Out of the first batch of clay clips, this one is my favorite- the photo does zero justice to how glittery those white clouds are! As you can see if you swipe through prior iterations of this trend, I am an artist who dabbles in many different media and types of art, but I have always loved wearables. Whether its sewing, knitting, crochet, or jewelry - I've tried so many things and I just love being able to USE the art you buy rather than just hang it in a wall and look at it.
