DP x DC prompt where Danny winds up in Gotham and, after expressing that he’s all alone and just wandering the city aimlessly, he finds himself adopted by Bruce– as Phantom. 

Because if you’ve already adopted a bunch of kids, why not throw a ghost into the mix?

Danny just goes along with it, nervous but not really having any other options. If Bruce Wayne wants to adopt a ghost and feed him, why not humor the man? If they figure out he’s not actually a full ghost, he can always skip town and they’ll never see him again.

Only… Danny’s not sure how he keeps up the charade as long as he does. The moment he finds out he’s not only been adopted by Bruce Wayne, but the Batman, Danny’s just waiting for the inevitable. Surely, Batman will eventually find out who he is.

But it just… doesn’t happen. The family doesn’t really have any reason to assume that a ghost is somehow still alive. They assumed he might be a meta at first, but the kid literally has no pulse and doesn’t breathe. And sure, Danny disappears sometimes (to sleep) and it’s a little weird he eats– but he also speaks in tongues and can fly through the ceiling, so what do they know? Constantine’s been no help, claiming he “doesn’t want to touch this situation with a ten foot pole”, so they’re just sort of figuring out ghost brother shenanigans on the fly. 

They’re more curious who Danny was while living, but (due to a mixture of ghostly interference in Amity, Tucker purging files, the GIW fucking with Amity Park’s exposure to the outside world, and Danny giving them no answers), the bats haven’t been able to find jackshit about Phantom and it’s a bit of a sore spot where egos are concerned. There’s a secret race going on to find info on Phantom first. Danny is aware of it and thinks it’s very endearing and funny. He also desperately wants one of them to succeed already.

The longer it takes for them to (not) figure it out, Danny gets more and more annoyed. At the very start he wanted to keep his identity a secret– new place, new people, how was he supposed to know how they’d react?– but he quickly grew enamored with the family and now trusts them. Besides, they’ve already accepted him as a ghost so, really, what’s there to lose? He’s pretty sure one of his new brothers is like ¼ ghost anyway.

Now Danny’s just been waiting– begging– for them to figure it out. He could just tell them. It would be so easy, but god he’s so committed to this now. Why is this taking so long.

It really starts to come to a head once the family develops non-ghost related nicknames for Danny. Jason in particular likes to joke about how Danny has severely broken the “blue-eyed, black-haired” mold and gives him nicknames like “Wildcard”, “Dove”, and “Uno Reverse”. 

Danny is about ready to snap.

One day, a few of them are about to head out on a mission and Danny asks to tag along. Jason jokingly says, “Sorry Dove, black hair club only.”

Danny just transforms on the spot, keeping his face comically neutral (as much as he can while watching his new family have a collective breakdown.)

Constantine Adopts Danny AU

I've seen a bunch of Batfam adopting Danny (and I love every one!), but it's stated that Jack comes from a long line of ghost hunters. So, what if his cousin John visits, and:

His nephew is dead and living with ghost hunters

The lab and house in general is so dangerous, he's understandably worried about Jazmine

Outing Danny as dead would likely have terrible consequences, so he offers some internships. Come on Jack, it's a few months and Jazz can learn from the Black Canary! And Danny can learn from me for a while!

He gets summer break permission, starts working on adoption plans, and starts crying when he realizes he's pulling a Batman

Jazz graduates, stays with Constantine.

Constantine realizes Danny is HALF alive and talks to ghosts, cue 1980's bonding montage

Vlad shows up, runs tf away after Constantine is halfway through an exorcism

Constant custody arguments with Batman "you have like 500 kids! Leave mine alone!"

"Constantine is right, Batman. Besides, he's got superpowers on the level of mine, so-" "CAN IT, CLARK!"

Danny has an unfairly large crush on Supes (space!), until he finds out Kon is his clone and how he treated him. After that? "Nah, you're MY clone now."

"But I'm a clone of-", " No, as the 1 person here with a good relationship with their clone, I'm taking clone rights. C'mon I'll teach you how to be ghosty."

YOU HAVE A CLONE?!

Dani shows up, Constantine is ready to throw hands at Batman AND Superman because that is HIS niece, Dani thinks of it as adopting Constantine.

There's some massive JL problem, Danny shows up to ask his uncle something. "Not now, Danny. I'm sorry, I'm working on summoning the Ghost King."

"I've got a quick way to talk to him!"

"You know the Ghost King?" "I AM the Ghost King!"

Imagine if the dp hat danny has in the undercover au only came in one color combo so when he changed back and the colors swapped everyone is like "wait where did you get that white and black dp hat I thought they only came in black and white???" to fenton

hahahaH that's perfect!! cue the excuses

nobody believes him. but it's not like anyone thinks, "oh, the colors were inverted by ghost powers" No, they think Fenton is very protective of his rare DP merch source. Paulina in particular would be a hard one to shake off his trail about it. because if Fenton can buy super rare limited edition Phantom merch, why can't she?!?!

re: the undercover boss phantom au - tucker and sam conclude that the reason danny and phantom refuse to be in the same space at the same time, the inexplicable yet unexplained connection tying them together, and just general aversion towards associating with each other, is because they're jilted ex-lovers recovering from a nasty breakup. and thus begins tucker and sams quest to a)figure out why they broke up, and b)try and get them to make amends/get back together

Listen. they're avoiding each other like the plague. and you know how people who date sometimes pick up one another's habits, ways of speaking, etc?? it sure seems like a reasonable conclusion!! danny protests this idea in both identities (because there is NO WAY he dated himself or broke his own heart wtf that's weird on so many levels NO) but it probably doesn't help his case all that much.

Jazz is sick and refuses to stay in bed. All she wants to do is finish her first book. Another character (authors choice) is tasked with forcing her to rest.

Jazz woke up in the morning "today is going to be great" , putting on her favorite teal dress and black flats because it was her special day, it was jazz's birthday, then she went downstairs to find her mommy making her favorite food, chocolate chips pancakes with some orange juice and bacon when her mommy saw her "aww honey, you look like a princess today" jazz blushed "thanks mommy, this is my favorite dress" her mommy raffles her hair "sweetheart, can you tell your father and brother that breakfast is almost ready" she started to fix her hair "ok mommy, i will tell daddy and danny" , when she got to thd living romm she saw her daddy was hanging the decorations in the living room with the help of her baby brother, then she called "daddy, danny mommy said that breakfast is almost ready" her daddy came to her and ruffles her hair "ok jazzrincess, come danno let's go eat breakfast" then her daddy and danny went to the kitchen to eat breakfast.

after breakfast they sat in the living room, and danny gave her his gift first "jazzy, jazzy look i made you a painting, with mommy and daddy and you, look your even wearing your favorite headband" she took it from him, "thanks danny for the painting", then her parents gave her their gifts, her daddy gave her an orange Hazmat suite, she hidden it in the back of the closet, her mommy gave her a book, and adult book that have alot of new words, she hugs her family and thanks them.

And because it was the holiday, she kept reading from it in every spar time she got for the next month.

"come on jazz, you need sleep to help you heal" then her mommy tucked her in her bed " Maddie come to the lab, the expriment is getting unstaple", she kissed her daughter head "danny, come and keep a eye on your sister" danny came from his room to jazz's room, "ok mommy, i will keep her will rested" "thanks danny" the she got out of the room and into the lab, "did mommy go?" jazz asked while trying to get out of bed, "yes" then he looked to see her trying to get out of bed, he pushed her back "no jazzy, stay in bed you're sick" she putted "but, i want to continue to read my book" "you can't get out of bed, mommy said so" "but mommy isn't here" "if you got out of bed i will tell mommy" "no don't tell mommy" "i don't want you to get tired" "but i want to read my book" "what if i read it for you?" "are you sure you can, it have alot of big words in it" "i can, i am a big boy" "ok then, it's on my disk", afternoon jazz saw that her baby brother fall asleep so she tacked him in the bed with her then she fall asleep as Wil.

in midday the parents came to jazz's room to see how is she and her brother doing, the saw the cutest thing, danny and jazz hugging will asleep with jazz's book on the char, the closed the curtains and turned the lights off, then slowly closed the door.
