#what a week huh? #(hasn't posted in over a year) #real talk tho i really gotta do some spring cleaning i just keep putting it off #for some reason my adhd just wasn't letting me engage with reblogs and shit #to tell you the truth I haven't engaged with many mcyt series in a while and moved onto some other stuff #but i've been here this entire time! #i absorbed a lot of stuff from my dashboard and i'm ready to do some catching up #starting with the sexyman polls. it's chaos now and i need to be a part of it.

PERSONAL THEORY: Scrunkly is used to describe an unspoken tactile element of a character. You can hear it in the semantic field: scruffy, scrunchy, crinkly. Using Bdubs as an example, a lot of posts have mentioned wanting to put him in a jar and shake him, or similar strange and sometimes cartoonishly violent actions- not out of a sense of malice but just because they think he’d make a weird noise or do something weird.

looking at your post from last night, i thought scrunkly was just a word we made up to discribe bdubs? what does it actualy mean? im confused now

it's a word that exists outside of the fandom, too. it was sort of a meme word for a bit? what exactly skrunkly means is a little beyond me, but it's like... it's people or creatures that feel like that word feels, in my head. i'm sure there's like, something more concrete out there? but something is skrunkly if it feels like the word skrunkly applies to it. if it feels like they have shrunk and gotten wrinkly in the bathtub. if it feels like you could fold them and they'd make a weird noise. if it feels like they're all... scraggly. skurnkly.

LL!Scar and LL!Ren being each other’s foils despite the fact they only interacted like twice

Scar starts the game with the maximum six lives; Ren starts the game with the minimum two lives.

Both establish their first bases on a notable level of elevation, which cut them off from the outside world.

Both make trades of loyalty in exchange for lives.

Both suffer from loneliness and fall into self-pity: Ren in the first two sessions, Scar in session 5.

When Ren offers his loyalty to Lizzie, he moves out of his starter base and sets up The Shadow Tower. When Scar makes deals around the server, he is upset that nobody moves to Magical Mountain with him.

I feel like the “Stop burning yourself!” scene is relevant somehow but I’m unsure how

Ren and Scar’s only major interaction before their battle is Ren trading a life to Scar. On top of the goods that Scar offers him, Ren makes Scar promise not to harm him for the series’ duration. The gold nugget meant to represent this deal is burnt in the Southlands trap. In Operation Bubblevate, Scar begins the fight by shooting an arrow at Ren.

The Wizard Hut is vandalised and blown up by Joel, Scar’s supposed ally since the start, who lied about it and faced no consequences when he was found out. It ends the series as a ruin used by Martyn for his last stand.

The Shadow Tower is blown up by Grian, and then repaired by the rest of the survivors with no input from Ren. It ends the series as one of the strongest surviving structures.

Hey. What if there's another reason why Etho keeps trying to move mountains just to keep Bdubs from being a red name. What if he just happens to be uniquely invested in sparing Bdubs Specifically from this thing that alters his mind and makes him more irritable and withdrawn and aggressive and threatening. What if he's so afraid of Bdubs because he knows he isn't fully in control of himself again and he knows he can't count on him not to lash out but he also stays so close, builds a fence instead of a wall you can't see over, continues to sleep in the same room, because he knows that being alone and abandoned again again again is the worst possible thing for his friend right now. He knows what it is to be a red name, he was one in 3rd Life, he knows how thirsty it makes you and how itchy and annoyed you end up being and how it makes you forget the faces of your friends so you won't even hear them when they call you he didn't even hear me when I called him he wouldn't even look my way no no that's not now that was years ago in another world in another life. What if Etho knows that under all the bruises and the threats Bdubs must be terrified.

What if all he really wanted was to make that fear stop.
