Anyone keeping rodents or rabbits or parrots in the market for some mulberry chews?
We had to take down two mulberry trees in the bird pens today in order to allow for redoing the overhead netting and repair of a support post, so I have a TON of fresh, organic, pesticide-and-fertilizer-free mulberry wood I can dry and bake for chews right now. The wood is sweet-smelling and on the softer side, and it tends to shred instead of chipping like apple wood. My mice and rats loved shredding out pieces and putting it into their nests. Wood will be cut, air-dried in the house, and baked.
Safe wood for at least rats, mice, rabbits, chinchillas, and guinea pigs to chew and safe for parrots EXCEPT possibly neophema species (diuretic effects were noted in just this species when consuming leaves, but play it safe).

They should really put warnings on plants that are toxic/deadly to animals like it’s pretty insidious that there are plants that could potentially kill your dog being marketed as convenient low effort plants for beginners that have no knowledge I don’t think it would even occur to the average traitor joes shopper that they’d need to even look it up for safety reasons

Hadah has been released into her new enclosure and she was dancing so hard it was wiggling the leaf she was trying to climb on

My isopods did not accept the leo egg shells I offered them, rude!
Lots of little babies rn too! might need to bump their tub size up relatively soon.

i added some botanicals to the tank.. leaves, cork bark, and seed pods that the crabs can hide in 🦀 also i've had the water running all day without the water heater plugged in, and the temps are perfect! 26-27 degrees in the lower water section and 27-28 degrees at the top pooling area.
the LED light bar (arcadia jungle dawn) that i have on the tank seems to heat up the pooling area nicely, which is heating up all the water as it cycles. so we'll see if i'll ever need to plug in the heater 🤷‍♀️

I've not posted my biggest fish tank for a while! It's now a Bristlenose and endler aquarium with a few neocaridina shrimp! This is where the tentacle beasts live.

They only had two snakes there. The Corn Snake was in the huge cage on the top, which was lovely, and the Emerald Tree Python was in a nice fully planted vertical enclosure. Wish they had more reptiles but at least the ones they do have are nicely housed!

So, I wanted to get a larger plant for Keeva's enclosure, so I bought a Hawaiian fern. Without looking at the scientific name.
Apparently there are two ferns in Hawaii that go by the same name. A native fern, and then one that is endemic to Australia and a few other countries.
I accidentally got the second. You want to know what this fern's other common name is? Kangaroo foot fern.
That's right. Because I didn't read carefully, I ended up with That Damn Fern's twin (albeit a bit more sickly version. Shipping was not kind).
I couldn't find a good spot for it in Keeva's enclosure, so I stuck it in Ofeefee's, because why not commit to total insanity at this point. Keeva will get the Bonnie spider plant that was SUPPOSED to go in Ofeefee's enclosure.
Other than that, have some random snake pics. We should be making our way home from GA after picking up Aisling's enclosure when this posts

Mesa's new enclosure! He's still settling in. I think I am slowly getting better at these builds, lol
Hopefully he ends up liking it as much as I do.
On to cleaning and sanitizing his old one for Yuzu!

Varya's plants arrived by the time we got back from GA, so I got to rescape her enclosure!
She just tootled around while I rampaged. Nothing really phases her.
I have realized, though, that I need to get her a longer light. Just keeping adding to the list 🙃

This is the 75g I made for my two axolotls Ramen and Eggie. The rock structures are permanently on there, I sculpted them from styrofoam, covered them in cement, and then a fish safe epoxy meant for big tanks and koi ponds.
It's set up with a fluval 407 cannister filter, and a JBJ arctica chiller.
Your blog is so nice and refreshing to see, thank you for keeping it active!
This is beautiful! Thanks for sharing :)

100qt setup this week for Rix, Rowe, Gentle, and Goose- 3 female fancy mice and 1 male african soft fur.
The rodent enclosures are a constant work in progress as they steadily destroy and rearrange everything.
