Can the Hazbin fandom chill tf out for once??

Alastor is aroace and y’all need to get over it: a rant :)

THE VERDICT:

We shouldn’t deny that Alastor is aromantic and asexual. We should acknowledge that there is a spectrum of people in the aroace community that are capable of romantic and/or sexual feelings, but we shouldn’t use it as an excuse to immediately sexualize him and just toss the representation to the side. On the flip side, we can’t go harrassing those who do ship him or simp for him. Me personally, I’m a simp. But seeing how he is I’d rather be in a platonic relationship or simp respectfully from the shadows 👹 But yea we just need to be respectfulonallsidespleasedon’tkillme--

MY THOUGHTS BEHIND IT:

Alastor is aroace. There is a spectrum of people who identify as aroace and still have romantic or sexual feelings, just toned down much more than normal (as I’ve come to understand, at least). HOWEVER. Using that as an excuse to ship Alastor and sexualize him kinda takes away the whole POINT of him being aroace.

I also see people who identify as aroace who are angry with this argument--that using the spectrum excuse takes away from the representation. They’re kinda pissed that people are saying aroace means you have NO feelings WHATSOEVER because a spectrum does, in fact, exist.

A huge part of fandom is shipping. There’s no way around it. This fandom has been shipping Alastor with Charlie since the dawn of time. Does it go against canon Alastor? Absolutely. Is that part of the point and fun of shipping? Yes. But is it disrespectful to his sexuality and the representation? I mean, it sucks. And it’s valid to be annoyed by that.

But it’s not worth harassing people.

I’ve seen a shit ton of harassment over a CRACKSHIP. Yes, I’m talking about RadioApple. There are those who legitimately ship it, but to those who ship because it’s funny, just let them enjoy themselves. And going back to the whole spectrum excuse I’ve been seeing, yes Alastor may be capable of romantic and sexual attraction. But he is the embodiment of “doesn’t give a shit”, so I doubt he would. It’s not gonna stop people, though.

This is an uncomfortable topic since I’m not anywhere near aroace or on the lgbt spectrum. But it’s something I’ve been seeing a lot as I’m in the fandom and it’s something I’ve been meaning to put out there. So am I qualified? I think I am now that I’ve done my research. But whether you think so is entirely up to whoever gave enough of a crap to read this whole thing 😂 I might just post a shortened version of this afterwards.

That was all, I believe. I know the Hazbin fandom’s pretty toxic and always kinda has been (hehe wordplay) but I wanna throw in my penny.

May I just say that I am shamefully simping for the Hazbin Hotel deer man. Which is a conflicting thing to do when he’s confirmed to be aroace.

I FEEL LIKE THE HAZBIN HOTEL FANDOM IS HAVING A MISUNDERSTANDING--

Alastor is not a father figure to Charlie. He does not care about the main cast (at least, not as much as people think he does). He is only at the hotel for power.

Explanation under cut

We don’t know what Alastor’s exact motives are, but so far, he only wants power and to be free of his deal. The guy has a literal mental breakdown over this.

And during this mental breakdown musical number, Alastor makes fun of the saying that he died for his friends. This is most likely him making fun of those who think he’s friends with the main cast. But it could also be him misspeaking and calling them his friends. But I doubt it.

He does not see himself as Charlie’s father figure, Viv confirmed herself the only reason he brought this up was just to get under Lucifer’s nerves.

He does not SEEM to care about the cast and the hotel. There’s a good chance he fought the angels just for his own enjoyment, showing off his power, and further gaining Charlie’s trust in their deal. There were plenty of reasons for him to stay other than “he cares about them so much”.

There were a few glimpses of when the writers could be leaning towards Alastor softening up to the place. Like when he told Mimzy to leave the Hotel and she said “you don’t actually care about this place do ya?”, and so on. Then there’s his banter with Niffty during Ep 8. His point about Charlie not knowing what goes on behind his smile could also be alluding to there being things we don’t know about him and how he feels about everyone.

I’d say there’s a chance of him softening up to the main cast and “redeeming” himself, sorta. I mean, it’d be nice to keep Alastor alive and well in the main cast with Lilith serving as the BIG antagonist.

But maybe that’s just me being afraid that if Viv makes Alastor a big bad, he’ll most likely get killed off

HAZBIN HOTEL SEASON FINALE RANT/THEORY/REVIEW

//SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT//

The Show

Overall, I’d give the show an 8/10. It’s got some issues, mainly with the pacing and some writing points (and me personally some of the humor). But it’s got a lot of pros including stellar animation, music and voice acting. So it’s still VERY enjoyable.

The Finale

It was AWESOME!!! Just a few notes:

-I love Alastor and Rosie’s dynamic, I think that it’s one of the few genuine friendships Alastor has and I love it

-Vox’s commentary was SO. HILARIOUS. I was excited to see him again hoping he’d take on a semi-big role again, but this was even better

-Sir Pentious has had my heart since the beginning and seeing him die so suddenly was…shocking. I was in shock. But it fit his character

-I’M SO GLAD HE GOT INTO HEAVENNNN 😭🥹

-MY BABY BOY DESERVES IT

-Alastor’s voice even without the radio effect is kinda…

Theories

I’m curious to know what the terms of Alastor’s “bondage” is. He seems very desperate to escape it, after all. Once his staff is broken, he can’t use his greater power against Adam. I feel like Alastor’s been restricted of his power by Lilith because of his lines in the closing number, and that has to be through the staff.

I think that Lilith is being set up to be the big bad of the series, now that it’s confirmed she’s “on the angels’ side”. The thing is, I don’t think anyone knows she’s in Heaven. I think only Lute knows about her existing there, but she strikes a deal with Lilith and doesn’t tell anyone.

I’m not sure what the terms of the deal would have been, but Lute seemed to have been tasked with killing Adam. And now she can ask something of Lilith. That something is most likely what will make Lilith the main antagonist of the show. She has to be…

Predictions

I’ve seen some debate between whether Alastor or Lilith will be the big bad of Season 2 and/or 3. Assuming we get 3 seasons; I’ve no idea how many we’re getting. With either one, there’d be some pretty good stakes. But I believe it’s Lilith, no doubt.

She’s been concealed in the shadows for a while and is clearly a much higher power than Alastor. So while Alastor will be a big problem later on, I think he’s not going to be as big as Lilith. Also there’s so much more mystery about her than Alastor and it’d be a GREAT buildup.
