Activities – What are their favorite things to do with you? How do you spend your free time?

He loves teaching you things. He gets really impatient and it can be hard, but he gets a lot of joy out of teaching you to play a simple song on guitar, a new dance move, etc. His face lights up so bright if you ask him to practice with you, and he gets so genuinely proud of you and excited when you’re able to master the song or the dance move that he showed you!

Boo! – How do they feel about surprises, giving and receiving?

Man loves surprises. He really likes it when your surprises involve kisses! He loves feeling your lips on his skin, your soft giggle in his ear.

If he’s surprising you, it’s very arrogant. Coming home early from tour so “you don’t miss him anymore,” video chatting or calling you so you can fall asleep to his voice.

Comfort – How do they comfort you when you’re upset? When the tables turn, do they come to you, or try to handle it themselves?

When you’re upset, he’ll cup your face and make you look him in the eyes. He’ll remind you how amazing you are, how much he cherishes you, and that there’s nothing he would ever change about you. He loves you. He’ll give you the sweetest and softest kiss you’ve ever received from him, and he’ll cuddle you as long as you need.

I think he would try to handle his feelings himself. You’d have to confront him firmly to get a decent chat out of him and he’ll be kinda blushy, shy, and defensive

Dance – Do they like to dance with you? How good of a dancer are they?

He loves dancing with you sm!!! Grinding in the club, slow dancing on your balcony, he’ll learn tango, salsa, or ballroom dance even if you ask him to! If you’re not much of a dancer, you can stand on the tops of his feet while you sway slowly to his soft humming.

Excitement – How do they act when they’re excited? What excites them?

When Kayn is excited he gets more boisterous and cocky. Banter levels up. Playfulness levels up. I feel like he’s the kind of guy that would pick you up and swing you around mid hug

Future – What are their plans for the future? Do they see themselves getting married, having kids?

I think he doesn’t really think about marriage or kids until you come around. It’s not until he actually realizes that he can’t live without you that he starts thinking about marriage. Once he’s there, he talks about it all the time. Kids aren’t really planned for, so if you have them, they were probably an accident… (He will love them more than anything)

Gifts – What do they give you as presents? How often do they get you gifts?

He likes buying you collars, writing songs for you, and loves to gift you things that you can both use (like cuddling under that new fleece blanket)

He gets you gifts fairly regularly. A little more than just special occasions, but not so often that they’re an expectation.

Hold – How do they hold you? Cuddling, sleeping, holding hands…

When sleeping, he holds you really close, noses pressed together, his hand pressed firmly against your back underneath your shirt, your leg over his hip.

He loves when you lay on top of him for cuddle time. Sometimes he’ll lay on top, squishing you with his weight

Hand holding isn’t really his go-to, but if he’s leading you somewhere or moving through a crowd then his hand is glued to yours. He would rather have an arm around your shoulders or hand on your lower back.

If you have back pockets, best believe his hand can be found there, especially if you guys are just standing around.

Ideal – What’s their ideal date like?

He actually really loves just sitting in his room with you and playing guitar. Don’t get him wrong, he absolutely loves going on adventures with you, being loud and boisterous and competitive… But his favourite dates are the ones that you can both just… be.

Jealousy – Do they get jealous easily? How do they handle it?

He’s a very jealous person, I think. Rhaast yelling in his head about everything he’s anxious about or yet to be anxious about and really urges him to lash out. He’ll apologize if he recognizes that he’s in the wrong, though

Kisses – How do they like to kiss you? How frequently do you kiss?

He kisses you like he’s drowning and needs you to breathe. You are the air in his lungs, the sun to his flowers, the moon to his sea. The best way to describe it, is that he kisses with his whole body, heart, and soul. He’ll pull you really close, press you against the wall or whatever surface you’re laying on so that there’s no space between you, practically suffocating each other, filling all of his senses with you. No kiss is complete without at least licking your lip. His tongue has to touch your lips or your own tongue for it to count, it’s his way of showing a little intimacy to make up for the moments he lacks.

He’ll kiss you as frequently as you’ll let him, save for his more romantic and soft kisses. Those are reserved only for you, he gets really embarrassed and defensive whenever someone catches him being soft with you

Love – How do they show you that they love you?

He very openly compliments you. Or pulls you into a hug or kiss. His softer side though is reserved only for you so his compliments, hugs, and kisses are gonna be more on the teasing side if there’s anyone nearby, but very sweet when you two are alone. He loves writing love songs for you. Also loves videochatting with you when you’re going to bed, especially if he’s on tour and can’t be there next to you.

Melt – What do you do that absolutely makes them melt?

He loves your banter, more than you’ll ever know. He loves teasing you, especially when you tease him back. He adores the competitive drive you get with him when you go to the arcade, or go-kart racing, and you can be a little mean, but he really loves it.

He also loves really mundane things, like waking up next to you, looking at you when you’re focused on something. Your whole face, really, and the expressions you make are just so cute!

Nicknames – What do they call you, and what are their favorite things to be called?

He enjoys really arrogant nicknames: “musical genius,” “sexy,” “handsome,” etc

For you, he keeps it simple. He thinks you’re perfect and wants to remind you of that so he tends to call you things like “beautiful,” “my angel,” “sweet thing”

Obvious – How obvious do they make it that they like you?

He thinks he’s really subtle and hiding it well, but he’s like an excited puppy whenever you’re around. His eyes light up, he stands a little taller, back a little straighter, devilish smirk on his lips as soon as he sees you. Even if you haven’t spotted him yet. He’s like 95% more likely to spot you first anyway

Pets – Do they have pets? Do they want them?

He’s a dog guy through and through. Loves dogs. Wants aaaaaallllllll the dogs. Is also open to more exotic animals and reptiles!

Quiet – How are the calm, quiet moments with them?

Quiet and calm moments with him are… your favourite. He can be him. Not Rhaast, not the Kayn everyone gets to see on stage or out and about… Him. His music is softer, his touch is more gentle, even his kisses seem sweeter. These moments are… slow. More thought out. He’ll play guitar quietly for you, maybe even sing a pretty and slow tune if he’s really feeling it. He’ll hold you close while watching a romance movie, dozing off peacefully from how content he feels just holding you. These are also the times he may take you to the roof to stargaze, or plan a picnic in a field of flowers, hike near a river…

Romance – How romantic are they? What are their go-to ways of being romantic?

If it’s just you two, he can be so romantic! Always wants to be touching you in some way, loves treating you to lunch or dinner. Intimate times can be quite romantic if he gives himself enough time to plan for it. Roses, candles… He’s also written a couple of love songs for you<3

Safe – What makes them feel safe and comfortable around you?

You accept him for who he is, which has been hard for him to find in his life.

Tend – How do they act when you’re hurt or sick, and vice versa?

He doesn’t know what to do if you’re sick. Please call Yone. Or better yet, Sett’s mom.

If you’re hurt, he becomes very protective and antsy, especially if someone else hurt you. If it’s a wee little papercut though he’ll baby you as much as you let him. He’ll tease you a lot though.

If he’s sick, you’re gonna want everyone’s hands on deck. He is big baby and hates being sick. He’ll pretend like he didn’t just throw up, or that he definitely does NOT have snot hanging from his nose. You have to force him to lay down and relax, force feed him soup, make him some tea. He is a very pathetic sick person.

If he’s hurt, it’s a big deal. Very dramatic boy, very cute pout. He gets so angry but honesetly it’s hysterical (unless directed at you, then you might cry and then he’ll feel bad and might also cry)

Unique – What’s an unusual thing about them that’s oddly charming?

Rhaast. He’s mean and energetic and demanding, but for whatever reason he actually loves you??? He gets really handsy and you have to yell at him, but also really likes when you take your anger and frustrations out on him

Variety – Do they prefer to keep things the same, or spice it up?

He really enjoys spicing things up! He’s very adventurous

Wash – What’s it like taking a bath with them, or helping them wash up after a fight?

There are two types of baths:

1. Soft and intimate baths. He’ll relax with you, maybe have a candle or two lit, bath salts and oils added to the hot water. His fingers will softly explore your skin, just enjoying loving on you and being quiet

2. Sexy baths. The water is a little warmer than room temperature, only filled about halfway, he wants desperately to feel you. Heated kisses, really handsy

There is also shower time. He might wash your hair, but generally this gets really handsy so I suggest showering separately if you want to properly wash or shave

XO – How do they show you affection? How much PDA are they willing to show?

PDA is very teasing: a hand in your back pocket, sneaky tongue kisses, an arm around your waist or shoulders… Dies if anyone sees his soft side though.

Yearn – What do they do when they miss you?

He gets really snappy (compared to usual) when he misses you</3 he also paces more. Rhaast gets really mean, fueling Kayn’s anxieties about his relationship with you.

Zzz – How do they act when they get sleepy? How is it sleeping in the same bed? I feel like he gets so clingy and grumpy when he’s sleepy

Intertwined Fates (Chilumi/Zhonglumi) - Chapter 9

SUMMARY: A small taste of how their lives will be, at least the best part of it they think.

"Never thought I'd be so grateful for the construction happening in front of this lot." Ajax sighed in relief as the three of them sunk on their sofa, "I used to curse them in my head for taking their sweet time because they're causing traffic." 

"And that traffic made it impossible for mother to come here without being late for their flight later." Lumine chuckled softly, "I almost threw up from the nervousness." 

Ajax sat up before looking at her in worry, "Are you okay? Do you need me to call Baizhu?" 

Lumine shook her head no, "It's fine, I feel way better now." as she stroke her belly. 

Blue eyes can't help but be mesmerized by how gently her hand dances around her belly. Finally being at ease knowing that Lumine loves him as much for him to walk away, Ajax is now slowly realizing that around 9 months from now, a new bundle of joy will bless them, and that bundle of joy is Ajax's. A proof of the love he and Lumine made. And that thought just sends a warm feeling in his heart that spreads throughout his body. 

"Are you okay?" Lumine asked in worry when he saw Ajax's eyes watering.

"Baby... you're carrying my baby..." Ajax whispered before crawling close to her belly so he could lean his forehead against it, his hand cupping Lumine's. 

Just like Ajax, now that Lumine doesn't have to choose between them, the fact that she's pregnant is also starting to dawn on her. She always wanted to have more children, at least 3 more siblings for Qiqi. She can't help but fondly look at the father of the child she's carrying and join him in his little bubble.

Meanwhile, Zhongli couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy in his heart. He sighs quietly as he encourages himself to get used to it since this would be their life from now on. He's not ignorant of the fact that he and Ajax would be jealous of each other when Lumine would give them attention, it sounds a bit childish but he knew well enough that he and Ajax are very possessive.

It got him wondering...

Did Ajax feel the same way before?

Even if Lumine and Zhongli began dating, the three of them still spend a lot of time together. Zhongli thought he was being considerate so Ajax didn't feel left out, but now that the brunette is thinking about it... he was unknowingly torturing his best friend.

Zhongli decided that he'll talk to Ajax about it some other time, for now, he let the two have their time while he decided to be the one to continue making snacks.

Once he got to the kitchen, he examined the ingredients Ajax had prepared, he figured it was cookies. 

He immediately got an idea of what to cook and examined the pantry and fridge to check if they had the ingredients he needed.

His hands then began moving on their own, for this recipe had already engraved itself in his mind and in his heart. 

Zhongli isn't a stranger in the kitchen, but baking isn't really his specialty. Lumine already got that covered for them, but if there's something Zhongli is proud of, it's his own chewy cookie recipe that was specifically made for Lumine.

A smile formed on his lips as he remembered how this recipe was made. 

Lumine was about five months into her pregnancy at that time. They had just gotten home from their check and Lumine kept whining about the cookies she bought isn't as good as she wanted. Zhongli kept his mouth shut from pointing out that she almost finished the whole bag alone as he help her rest on the sofa; the last time he pointed something out to his pregnant wife, he earned a three-night vacation on their couch.

"Why say it's a chewy cookie when it's not even chewy?! Look how crumbly it is!" Lumine whined as she shove a cookie in her mouth, "And what's with stuffing everything with so much caramel?!" 

Zhongli chuckles to himself as he listens to his wife's rant. It wasn't until Lumine had fallen asleep that he decided to give baking a try. He helped Lumine before so he got the basics of baking, he just need to figure out the texture Lumine wanted. He did a bit of research and asked Aether for some tips. The next week, Zhongli got home early just to bake. It took him 3 attempts to be satisfied with his creation finally. 

He remembers how nervous he was as the time when Lumine usually goes home grows closer. It was his first time baking after all, and a pissed pregnant wife is something Zhongli didn't know he fears so much. Zhongli was so nervous that he went out to buy Lumine's favorite ice cream in case his cookies fail.

Lumine cried when she tasted the cookies and Zhongli was almost panicking until Lumine took another bite and told him he was the best husband ever. They ate it with ice cream and Lumine couldn't stop talking about how Qiqi would enjoy these and Zhongli couldn't be more excited to meet his little girl.

As the cookies bakes, nostalgia hits Zhongli when the kitchen began to smell and feel like home. The aroma of the cookies filled him with warmth, yet the more he lingers on it, the more his heart ache at the realization of how long it's been. 

"Is that what I think it is?" a small gasp entered the kitchen.

Zhongli smiled as he turned Lumine, "Hopefully the recipe in my head right now is the actual one you liked." 

Lumine's face soften as she walked closer to Zhongli and eyed the cookies baking, "I'm sure it will be." 

"Where's Ajax?" he asked, hands itching to wrap themselves around Lumine's waist.

"Checked on Qiqi, she's usually about to wake up around this time. Also, have to make sure she doesn't over nap because bedtime would be a nightmare if she had too much energy." Lumine explained, "He also said he'll start explaining who you are to Qiqi."

"Already?" Zhongli raised an eyebrow.

"He said it's better to do it fast before things get more complicated." Lumine just shrugged before wrapping his arms around herself, to which Zhongli gladly tighten his hold. 

"I missed you," Lumine whispered.

Zhongli smiled before kissing the top of her head, "I'm just glad to finally be home." 

Home.

The man sighed contently at the thought. 

It's not the home he used to have, but Zhongli believes that with time, he could make his own mark in their lives again, especially Qiqi's.

Zhongli almost cried.

He actually teared up, but he managed to stop himself from bawling.

Because right in front of him, is his daughter eating her third cookie.

The cookie he made. 

The same cookie recipe he and Lumine are proud of.

Qiqi contently hums as she broke off a piece of cookie, and dunked it in the coconut milkshake Ajax made for her before eating it with a happy hum.

Ajax and Lumine couldn't help but also watch in amusement as Qiqi reaches for her fourth cookie.

"Bedtime's gonna be a pain," Ajax whispered with a knowing smile. 

"Damn, this pregnancy is really tiring. Good luck, Jaxie." Lumine smiled at him sweetly. 

Ajax looked at her with betrayal, "You... Just..." he just pouted, cause as much as he wants to argue, Lumine will be the one carrying his child for another 9 months, and putting an over-hyper kid to sleep is the least that he could do. 

"I'm kidding," Lumine chuckled, "I'll help of course. And Zhongli too." she turned to Zhongli with a smile.

The brunette's eyes just widened, he expected he'd be sharing the parenting obligations, he just didn't expect it to be this soon when Qiqi hasn't really processed who he actually is yet.

Apparently, Ajax began to slowly tell her earlier, but she didn't seem to act any different from before.

"Of course. I'm sure it wouldn't be as bad as you think...?" Zhongli trailed off when Ajax and Lumine snickered.

"Oh, just you wait..." Ajax smirked before sipping on his coffee.

"Why did you have to give her a milkshake earlier?" Zhongli panted as they tried to chase Qiqi around the living room.

"I already promised her one." Ajax tried to catch his break, "Why did you have to bake another batch of cookies?" 

"It's the first time I made something for my daughter, can you blame me?" Zhongli explained.

Ajax shrugged, "Fair enough."

Giggles from another room were heard.

"I thought she was under the table?" Zhongli asked in amusement.

"She was," Ajax answered in a tone that showed Zhongli it was something usual. 

"Two grown men chasing after a little girl and she still manages to escape you." Lumine chuckled as she leaned against the wall, her clothes now dry and comfy, having changed from the dripping one Qiqi caused during bath time. 

"She definitely got this from you." Zhongli chuckled tiredly.

"Well, let's hope the next one won't." Ajax teased.

"Excuse you, if the next one gets your energy, we're banning sugar in this house." Lumine huffed.

"She got a point there." Zhongli agrees.

Several minutes ago, Lumine was giving Qiqi a bath while Ajax shows Zhongli how their bedtime routine goes. The ginger had just finished explaining how bright the night light should be and was about to demonstrate how to fluff the pillows when they heard a loud playful shriek running across the hallway with a very wet Lumine shouting after her. 

"And this is the part where we chase after her for 10 full minutes," Ajax said before grabbing Zhongli to chase after the hyper child. 

"Well, at least she's fully dressed and wearing her non-slip socks." Lumine hummed before sitting on the sofa, "Qiqi, dear, can we please cuddle here?" she tried luring her daughter out from wherever she was hiding.

"Catch me first!" Qiqi answered somewhere. 

"Yeah, I thought that'd be too easy." Ajax snickered.

"She'll come when we have treats, no?" Zhongli suggested.

"If you give her any more sugar, you're putting her to bed alone." Ajax warned with a glare, "And if it's just to dupe her, you're dealing with the temper tantrum alone too." 

"I see." Zhongli thinks, "How do you usually calm her down?" 

"She usually gets bored by this time, but the amount of sugar she had earlier made sure that's not going to happen any sooner." Lumine explained, "We also tempt her with extra stories but Ajax had been negotiating earlier and none of them is working." 

"So... I suppose we actually have to catch her." Zhongli concluded, "Well, it's best we do that again now." 

"Right with you there. I really want to lie down now." Ajax mumbled as he follows Zhongli.

"Go catch our daughter, daddies!" Lumine casually giggled as she made herself comfortable on the sofa, not realizing the giddy feeling she sparked within the two men. 

"Ah!" Qiqi shrieked when she ran into Zhongli's waiting arms. 

"Caught you." Zhongli laughed before carrying the giggling girl back to the living room with Lumine.

"You really ran and hid all over the place, princess." Ajax chuckled tiredly, "That was a whole 20-minute chase." 

"Mama." Qiqi greeted as she made grabby hands at her mother who had been reading a book the entire time.

"You exhausted them out, baby." Lumine cooed after closing and placing her book down to take the now-tired child. 

Qiqi just rubbed her eyes before cuddling against Lumine's chest, "It was fun." 

"It sure sounds like it with how loud you're laughing." Lumine chuckled as she stroke the little girl's hair to lull her to sleep.

"Mama should join next time," Qiqi mumbled. 

The adults tensed at the thought of this happening again.

"Maybe." was the only thing Lumine said and thankfully Qiqi just hummed. 

"Let's take you to bed, yeah?" Ajax suggested, "Do you still want story time?" he asked.

Qiqi just shook her head. 

Lumine just started humming a lullaby as she stood up to carry the tired girl to her room with Ajax and Zhongli following behind. 

Zhongli watch carefully how Lumine lay Qiqi on the bed, how Ajax placed some stuffed toys beside Qiqi before tucking her in, and how both of them gave Qiqi a soft goodnight with a kiss on her forehead. He took note of every detail, learning as much as he could about his daughter. Tonight's experience was a lot, and while it was tiring, Zhongli finds himself not minding it if it were to happen again, especially when he looked back on Qiqi's happy face and loud giggles when she ran into his arms, or how tight Qiqi hugged him as he carried her. 

Qiqi yawned from her bed, and they were expecting her to close her eyes, except she turned to Zhongli with a curious face, "Papa also give Qiqi night night?" 

Zhongli was taken aback, looking at Ajax and wondering if she was pertaining to him instead, but Ajax just smiled and turned his head as if to signal to go ahead. Lumine had the same surprised face but softened when Ajax gave her a reassuring look and a kiss on the side of her head. 

The brunette shakily walked to Qiqi, gently leaning down to place a soft kiss on her forehead like how Ajax and Lumine did, "Good night, little one." he said softly, the simple action making his heart burst with joy.

"Night, Papas, Mama," she said before she let sleep take over.

Quietly, they left the room.

Zhongli is buzzing with excitement as they walk, humming a soft tune until they reach their bedroom.

"Ah... so sleeping arrangements?" Zhongli asked the two.

Ajax just shrugs, "Bed's big enough for us three, as long as Lumine's in the middle, I don't really mind." 

"Same with me," Lumine said, a slight blush on her cheeks.

"Then I also have no qualms about it." 

However, they still felt very awkward as they lay stiffly next to each other. 

"So..." Ajax tried breaking the awkward silence, "what's up?" 

Lumine burst out laughing, "Really, Ajax?" 

"I was nervous." Ajax chuckled.

"It is something new," Zhongli added, "but I wouldn't have it any other way."

"Same here." Ajax smiled as his eyes looked at Lumine's still flat stomach.

"We'll get used to it." Lumine smiled as each of her hands grabbed her lovers, "Qiqi seemed to have already. How did you do that, Jax?" she turned to her right.

"I also didn't expect her to be that accepting already," Zhongli said in amusement.

Ajax just shrugged, "She's a child. I just told her you're her dad who went on an adventure and that's how you knew so much stuff. She actually doesn't remember when Lumine and I tried explaining your er... disappearance so that made it easy for me to make something up." 

"Wait, so you just told her that and she just accepted it?" Lumine asked.

"She accepted Cocogoat's existence without proof. It's not hard to accept she has another Papa I suppose." Ajax said as he squeezed Lumine's hand.

"Wait... just... that? So, you're like 'Qiqi, you're Papa is finally back and he'll be living with us!'" Lumine asked in disbelief.

"Of course, I have to make an adventure story, I actually have to tell you about that, Zhongli by the way, just to make the story consistent, but overall, she's not really that phased about it," Ajax explained.

"I still can't believe it," Zhongli commented, his thumb gently stroking Lumine's hand.

"Like I said, she's a kid. Her mind won't be able to process it if I over-explain it to her." Ajax shrugged, "That's why the thing with Zhongli's previous disappearance is confusing to her, she doesn't know how to make sense of the information. She'd probably ask more questions about us when she's older, and I'd be more than happy to explain it to her, but for now, she has one loving mama and two loving papas and that's that." he ended with a yawn before making himself comfortable against Lumine's chest. 

"Huh... that actually makes sense." Lumine hummed, hand mindlessly stroking Ajax's hair. 

Zhongli chuckled, "That's one less thing to worry about then." he then allowed his arm to snake around Lumine's waist, moving closer and ignoring Ajax's tired whines about Zhongli going over his space. 

Lumine just laughed softly before making herself and her lovers comfortable, finally having peace of mind after days of worrying.

Intertwined Fates (Chilumi/Zhonglumi)- Chapter 8

SUMMARY: Lumine finally chooses.

"You've been scrubbing that plate for a long while now, do you want to talk about it?" Lumine asked softly as she placed a plate on the rack, waiting for Ajax to pass her the last one.

Dinner was just pizza they ordered so there isn't much to clean up, but Ajax is taking way longer than usual with washing the dishes.

Zhongli was watching a movie with Qiqi in the family room, the man not having any problems spending time with his daughter... who knows when's the next time he'll be able to spend time with her like this.

"Lumi, are you feeling fine? I mean... physically fine?" Ajax sighed, he'd been so distracted in thinking of how to ask her about the possibility of being pregnant, especially at this time when everything is very complicated. Ajax is surely adding another major factor that will further make this difficult, "Did Baizhu not tell you anything?"

Lumine frowned, "He didn't seem to say anything alarming?" she bit her lip before adding, "Er, well... he suggested taking another medical test, but I'm really fine, so I didn't see the point of it. Did he tell you something else?"

"...No, not really... but... maybe you should go back and take that medical test?" Ajax suggested.

"But I'm fine, I just need to take a break. This thing is just really taking a toll on me." Lumine argued.

"And that's why we should have it checked." Ajax calmly countered, "Lumine, please. I'm anxious about you, I don't want anything bad happening to you."

"Baizhu already said-"

"Lumine." Ajax stopped her, "Please." he looked at her with pleading eyes.

And just like that, Lumine relented, "Fine. I'll give him a call to schedule me tomorrow."

Ajax seemed to have relaxed a bit, "Thank you, love."

It was one of their usual nicknames, but somehow they suddenly felt something heavy in their chest.

Though they didn't mention it as they finished cleaning up.

"Qiqi likes him, he went all over the ocean to find Nemo." Qiqi pointed at the clown fish on the screen.

"Nothing's more precious to a parent than their child." Zhongli agrees.

"Yeah, Papa said he'll also look for Qiqi all over the universe if Qiqi goes missing." Qiqi said proudly, "And the universe is big!" she thought of the moment, "Qiqi thinks it's bigger than the ocean and this building combined! So that's very big!"

Zhongli gave her a smile, yet sadness looms over it, "It is bigger than those two combined. Your Papa and Mama will no doubt go through all that for you."

"Yeah." Qiqi nodded proudly, "Uncle Aether and Uncle Xiao said they would too!" she added.

"Oh?" Zhongli smiled a genuine one before adding, "Then I will too."

Qiqi's eyes brightened, "Really? You'll look for Qiqi too?"

Zhongli nodded, "Of course, I promise."

Qiqi giggled, "Good! Because Qiqi's worried that Uncle Aether and Uncle Xiao will get eaten by a shark while they look for me."

"Really?" Zhongli chuckled.

"Yeah, cause Mama said she's afraid of sharks and Papa said he'd save her. But Uncle Aether said he's also afraid of sharks and Uncle Xiao said he'd also save him, but they're both small so Qiqi doesn't know how they'll survive."

Zhongli flinched as he tried to stifle a laugh, "I... I can assure you that even with their... height... they can defeat a shark."

Qiqi thought for a moment, "Can they...? Cause Qiqi watched them move furniture around here and they looked like they're dying moving that shelf over there together."

Zhongli looks at the tall shelf at the corner, he doubt he could move that without difficulty himself but he just chuckled, how entertaining is a child's perspective at times.

"But that's okay now, you can help them defeat the shark." Qiqi nodded, satisfied with her possible rescue plan she affectionately named 'Finding Qiqi'.

Zhongli couldn't help but release a laugh, Qiqi laughing along with him just cause he looks so happy, her little giggles melting Zhongli's heart, how much of this did he miss out on?

Tears start forming at the corner of his eyes as he thinks about how he missed watching his daughter grow up; the milestones he couldn't celebrate with her, the proud feeling he missed as he was supposed to watch her say her first word, take her first step, fear her first tantrum.

Soon he couldn't help but begin shaking, even as hard as he try to swallow the pain, things are starting to get to him as he faced the fact that he has indeed lost 5 years of their lives...

Zhongli bent down, hiding his face with his hands as he tried to stop his sobs.

Mocking voices of his parents taunts him in his head again.

They were going louder... louder... louder...

Until suddenly it just... stops.

Zhongli's eyes widened as he felt a tiny hand patting his head.

"Are you okay?"

The tiny voice silenced the voices in his head.

Zhongli wiped his eyes before facing her, "Of course. I apologize, little Qiqi. Something just... came into mind."

"Is it because you're afraid of sharks too? Well, don't worry, Qiqi will do her best not to get lost in the ocean so you don't have to save Uncle Aether and Uncle Xiao from sharks," she promised.

Zhongli chuckled before sitting up, "Don't worry, it's not that. I'm just sad about other things."

"Like what?" Qiqi tilted her head in confusion.

"Nothing, just grownup stuff." Zhongli laughed it away, "Anyway, would you like to watch something else?" he changed the subject.

"Yeah, I wanna watch animals now," Qiqi said as she pressed the button on her favorite channel.

Zhongli took note of how Qiqi watched the animal channel with interest, the show is a kid version of some animal documentary. Zhongli then started noticing the animal books for kids lined up on the shelf.

So his daughter has a fascination with animals.

He took note of that.

Zhongli may have missed her early years, but now he would like to be as involved in raising her.

He just hopes Lumine will let him, even if she left their home and made a new one with Ajax.

As they watch, Qiqi would ask questions to which Zhongli unsurprisingly know the answer, he loves reading books of all kinds from when he was young and probably up to now if given the chance. He felt proud of himself as Qiqi listened to him with fascination.

Soon Lumine and Ajax joined the room, a glass of milk in Lumine's hands.

"Thank you." Qiqi accepted the glass, "Mama, Mr Zhongli knows a lot about animals." she said excitedly.

"That's wonderful." Lumine smiled as she sat next to her daughter, "He loves to read books just about anything."

"Qiqi wants to be like that too! Qiqi needs more books," she said.

"Haha, we'll get you some more books, don't worry," Ajax said as he made himself comfortable from beside Lumine, giving the same space as Zhongli had between her from the other side of the couch.

The attention was solely on Qiqi as the grownups avoid the tension between them.

But soon Qiqi had fallen asleep on Lumine's lap and that's when they know they were done for the night.

"I... I think I'll stay with Qiqi for the night." Lumine cleared her throat as she gently move Qiqi from her lap to carry her.

"I could carry Qiqi for you." Ajax hurriedly volunteered when he saw Lumine struggle a little in shifting positions to avoid waking up the sleeping girl.

"I got it don't worry." Lumine said as she successfully stood up with Qiqi in her arms, "We really had a long day, so maybe we should all talk tomorrow afternoon? Qiqi has no school and takes naps at that time, I should be home from a quick hospital visit. Ajax will be on leave, would that be okay, Zhongli?" she asked.

"Yes, my employer's son is staying with her so there shouldn't be a problem with me not being there, but I would like to visit there in the morning and inform them of what happened," he answered.

"That's fine, I'll be home all day." Ajax nodded.

"Though, can I ask why you'll be in the hospital? Is everything alright?" Zhongli asked in worry.

"Everything's fine, to be honest, I'm just going for Ajax's sake." Lumine sigh.

"It's better to be mindful, Lumine." Ajax frowned.

"I would agree with him. Health is really important." Zhongli added.

"Alright, alright, I already set up an appointment so everything should be fine." Lumine sighed in defeat. "Well, I'll be taking Qiqi now. Good night."

They said their goodnights before Ajax begin to lead Zhongli to his room.

"If you need anything else, just go through that hallway and you'll see our- my room." Ajax corrected himself.

"I see. Thank you." Zhongli said.

They awkwardly stood in silence.

"Zhongli... I..." Ajax hesitated.

Zhongli sighed, "I hope you understand Ajax that I won't give them up easily." he said, "Although of course, Lumine still needs her input, I just need you to know that I'm not going to disappear in their lives. At least Qiqi's. She may call you her Papa but... she's still my daughter, and I know you understand that it won't be easy for me to simply walk away when I've now met her."

Ajax stayed quiet before answering...

"Of course. It is your right to be with your family after all." he said, 'And so will be mine if Lumine is really pregnant...'  he added in his head.

"We should take a good night's rest. Tomorrow will be another heavy and long day for us." Zhongli nodded.

"It will be." Ajax said, "Goodnight."

"Goodnight."

When morning comes, Lumine and Zhongli left for their own errands after they had their breakfast. Qiqi is currently at the dining table, her animal picture books scattered on the table when Ajax just finished clearing it.

"Papa, can you also tell me more about this one?" Qiqi called.

Ajax turned away from washing the dishes and looked at the bird she was pointing to.

"Uh..." Ajax tries to remember what he knows about it, unfortunately coming up with nothing, "Sorry, princess, Papa isn't too knowledgeable about that." he chuckled, though feeling a bit bad.

It was an unusual feeling, he doesn't feel bad when he couldn't answer Qiqi's questions like that. Usually, he would learn more about it with her through other books or through the internet, but after seeing Zhongli flawlessly answer Qiqi last night, Ajax feels... threatened? He's not sure how to describe the ugly feeling, but he really hates it.

"I'll ask Mr Zhongli later then." Qiqi hummed, which just made Ajax feel worse and strangely competitive.

"I don't really know a lot about birds, but I do love marine animals," Ajax said proudly.

"Sea animals?" Qiqi repeated.

"Yeah, your grandpa used to take me with him before when he goes to the ocean." he recalls the fond memory, "Besides fishing, your grandpa is also curious about marine life and he loves to talk to me about it."

"Tell Qiqi too!" Qiqi said excitedly.

Ajax smiled, "How about you clean those books up, get the ones about the sea animals, and wait for me in the living room, yeah? I'm almost done with cleaning up."

"Okay!" Qiqi said excitedly before doing her little task.

Ajax smiled and hurried cleaning up.

His whole morning was then spent with Qiqi and sea animal facts.

Zhongli soon came home with a box of tea from his employer. He immediately made one for himself when Ajax declined. Qiqi had asked for a glass of juice instead.

They all waited for time to pass by. Ajax and Qiqi still talking about sea animals while Zhongli texts Xiao, Lumine gave him her old but still functioning phone earlier for communication purposes. Zhongli sighs as Xiao bombarded him with texts about what happened yesterday, Xiangling had told him out of worry, and while Zhongli prefers not to tell Xiao that he already knows about Ajax and Lumine, at least until they have their talk, he couldn't really blame Xiangling. Zhongli tries to distract Xiao by asking him what happened with his life instead. Zhongli would also want to know how his brother had been when he was away. Thankfully, Xiao can still sense if Zhongli wants to avoid talking about something, and so he let it go and just talks about himself. Xiao would prefer talking in person but the bakery is a bit busy and he and Aether have to take on Lumine's work as well. Zhongli doesn't mind the long wait for his reply though.

It was peaceful and soon Lumine came home.

"Mama!" Qiqi immediately runs up to hug her.

"Is everything fine?" Ajax can't help but ask already.

"Yeah." Lumine gave him a tight smile as she picked up her daughter.  

Ajax just noticed she's holding an envelope with a hospital logo and he can't help but start to get anxious about what's inside. He was about to ask about it but Lumine gave him a pleading look. Ajax swallowed a lump in his throat but nodded either way.

Meanwhile, Zhongli can't help but sense the tension between the two.

He wonders if this has something to do with the bad omens he encountered on his way home.

Three adults sat across the table.

Qiqi was in her room taking her afternoon nap after their lunch.

Everything was cleaned up and it was time for the main event of the day.

However, no one seems to know how to start the conversation as they stare at the mug of steaming tea Zhongli made for all of them.

"I..." Lumine tried to start but her words died down.

"Er, what if we start about your... medical results?" Ajax made the first move, he knows that this result will have a huge impact on their situation.

Lumine bit her lip as her fist clenched on the envelope.

There was a pause before Lumine slid the envelope to him.

Ajax took a deep breath before opening the envelope, eyes eagerly searching for the answer he needs.

And when he saw it...

"Oh..." was all he could say before putting the results down.

Zhongli's eyes naturally went to the paper, and he froze at the familiar results.

It was the very same one that told them they were having Qiqi.

"I... I see." Zhongli breathed out, "That's... that's another thing to heavily consider as well." he stated.

"I was really overwhelmed with... us... that I didn't realize I didn't get my period." Lumine said, "This is really big news for me... er, all of us." she bit her lip.

"...So what now..." Ajax sighed, "I won't leave you alone with this, Lumine. I can't." he said, "I'm sorry, but I can't." his eyes met Zhongli's.

"You can't expect me just to leave, do you?" Zhongli frowned, "I really apologize for this, Lumine, Ajax. You may have moved on from me, but I still love you and our daughter." he pleaded Lumine, "I'm sorry, but I never intended on letting you go. I may not have your heart anymore, but you can't just cut my ties with Qiqi, that's too much."

"Don't say it like that..." Lumine said with hurt in her eyes, "You... you always have a place in my heart, and I've always wanted Qiqi to know you're her father. Ajax and I tried, but she won't be able to understand it yet."

"You're carrying my child." Ajax said, "Letting go is impossible for me." he added firmly.

"I guess... it'll be your call, Lumine," Zhongli stated.

"You can't just overwhelm her like that, pregnancy in this stage can be delicate," Ajax argued.

"Well, it's obvious that I vote for myself and you vote for yourself. Lumine's the one who breaks the tie." Zhongli stated, "I don't want to burden you, and I wish I could say that you can take your time... but..."

"With everyone around us, we don't have time, yeah I get that." Lumine bit her lip, "Waiting any longer would complicate things more... especially with my mother." she said, "And I don't want her influencing me in any way when deciding this."

"Then... what's your decision?" Ajax asked though he was not sure if he was ready for her answer.

"If... if you do choose him, then... I have no choice but to respect your decision. Choosing him is the logical choice, he already engraved himself in Qiqi's mind as her father, and it would not cause a problem with your mother. But I do wish to see Qiqi. I want to be there and watch her grow up. Even as 'Mr Zhongli'." Zhongli finally decided. When they made their vows, he promised to carry the burden with her, married or not, Zhongli will always keep that vow in his heart.

What Zhongli said stunned Ajax, while what he said does lead to a less complicated outcome, Ajax can still see the love Zhongli has for her, and Ajax knows deep inside that Zhongli still and will always have a place in Lumine's heart.

Zhongli is... Lumine's first choice after all.

"I... I guess if I could let you go before, I could... try my best to do it the second time." it was a lie and Ajax could feel the bitter aftertaste when it left his lips, "But I too want to be there for my child."  

The first sentence had both alarmed Zhongli and Lumine, but they didn't comment on it right now.

The two men are willing to sacrifice their future for her, and Lumine is just as torn.

"This doesn't make this any easier." Lumine sighed in frustration.

"Just say the first thing that comes into your mind..." Ajax tried to help, "Might as well rip the band-aid off."

"The first thing that comes to my mind, huh..." Lumine repeated.

"It is known that whatever first thing that pops in your head is what you truly desire." Zhongli said, "When envisioning your future, who do you see standing with you?"

Lumine answered quietly.

"Who?" Ajax tried again.

"...th..." Lumine tried again, face heating up.

"I'm sorry, Lumine, but we can't hear you." Zhongli said, "Perhaps you can think of this until tonight."

"Yeah, I guess you really need to think this through."

"...of you!" Lumine said louder.

"Uh...?" Ajax and Zhongli looked at each other, "You need to be a bit specific-" Ajax chuckled awkwardly.

"You." Lumine said, "Both... of you."

"Yes, what about both of us?" Zhongli asked.

"That's it," Lumine said in embarrassment and frustration.

"I'm a bit confu-" Ajax was cut off.

"I choose both of you." Lumine made it clear, "I... I was thinking about it the whole night. And I just tried thinking of who pops in my head, but... it's both of you... I'm sorry, but I can't seem to let go of either of you." she bowed her head in embarrassment, "You want me to break the tie, but I can't imagine myself without the both of you by my side."

They fell into deep silence.

"Well... you seem to have chosen the most complicated path." Zhongli broke the silence, "But I can't say I'm not relieved." he added with a relieved smile, "If sharing with him is the only way to be by your side, then I'm willing to accept this choice." he smiled at her.

"I never really imagined a future with sharing you with him, but it's a whole lot better than being alone." Ajax smiled at her, "It's... going to be difficult explaining this to other people, but I know I'll overcome anything with you by my side."

Their smiles lifted the heavy weight off her shoulders, "I was worried that it'd gross you two out, that I'm being selfish."

"Oh, you are greedy, but I don't mind a greedy little princess, but please keep it to the two of us. I don't think I would share with any more than with him." Ajax smiled but Lumine can feel the seriousness.

"I... I'm not planning, don't worry." Lumine promised.

"Then I have no problems with this." Zhongli said, "But we need to think about how the others will react."

"Eh, if anyone gets a problem with them, I'll punch them." Ajax shrugged.

"I mean our family and friends, Ajax." Zhongli sighed, "Although I feel like they would respect our decision, I'm more worried about your parents, Lumine. And explaining this to Qiqi as well."

"I could explain this to Qiqi." Ajax volunteered, "We already explained about Zhongli being her real father before, I think we just need to make her realize that that's you, Zhongli. Qiqi's already warmed up with you so I don't think it'll take too long for her to accept you as her father, but you should expect questions about your disappearances." he said.

"She doesn't know about the plane crash." Lumine said, "We were warned that it might give her some sort of trauma or fear with planes, so we just said you were in a better place."

"I suppose I could just make a story about being asleep for too long and forgetting things? Er... I'll think of an excuse so leave that part to me." Zhongli said.

"Well, I guess your parents... well, more like your mom, will be hard to convince," Ajax said.

Lumine rubbed her temples, "We can think of that for another day, Dad said he and Mom will be out for a vacation with her friends and they'll leave tonight. I think I need to rest for a while." she said tiredly.

"Of course. I could make you some snacks to eat. Do you have any cravings?" Ajax asked.

"I'm still full from lunch, but I would appreciate some sweets right now." Lumine hummed.

"Alright, I'll see what I can make." Ajax hummed as he thinks of something light and sweet to make.

"Would you like to lie down by the sofa?" Zhongli asked.

"I would appreciate that, thanks."

Lumine and Zhongli made their way to their living room, the blonde woman immediately sitting down to relieve her sore back with the soft cushions. Zhongli sat beside her, making sure she was comfortable as he remembered the times when she was pregnant with Qiqi. Usually, he would cuddle her as he play with her stomach, even if it was still flat, but Zhongli decided to give her some space first, Lumine may have decided to take him and Ajax but Zhongli knows they have yet to talk about boundaries or rules about it. So for now, he settles with just sitting right next to her.

They were enjoying a movie when they suddenly heard a loud crash in the kitchen.

Lumine immediately stood up to check on Ajax with Zhongli following her close behind.

"Shit..." Ajax cursed as he dropped an empty bowl, his eyes however did not leave his phone as he try to read the simple message all over again, hoping it would change.

"Is everything fine, Jax?" Lumine asked with worry.

Ajax gulped and looked at her,

"Your mom's coming here soon."
