Something so sinister and harrowing to me about the only black man in F1 bearing the weight of activism and morality for the entirety of the sport. that when it becomes institutionally acceptable to call for a fucking ceasefire F1 will point to Lewis and parade his bravery as though it was a joint enterprise and say "WE did that months ago".
The indignity about the way he gets maligned then co-opted is more harrowing to me than the overt shit they do to him somehow.

Honestly the best piece of advice I can give to younger girls trying to figure life out is to completely ignore men. I’m not being quirky or cute when I say that, I mean it seriously. Ignore men’s judgments of you, ignore their insincere compliments, ignore their half-assed romance. Focus on developing yourself. Practice your art, play sports, do theater, volunteer, spend time with your friends, but do not put substantial effort into pleasing men. They’ll be there for you to pursue when the time comes and if you want to. But nothing will waste your youth more than fighting for male acceptance.

all these grown ass men acting like your boss literally coming onto you in the workplace wouldn’t be a “distraction”. You’re supposed to feel safe at work, there’s boundaries because we don’t get to choose our colleagues but at least it should be a safe environment to be in everyday. Remember these aren’t your cute little boys or whatever, these are millionaires who work for and with some of the richest and most powerful people and corporations in the world. They get to be in rooms with people who change laws and invade countries with just a phone call. This isn’t about believing the victim anymore or who’s right and who’s wrong, it’s revealing the misogynistic work culture in motorsport. It’s revealing the lack of critical thinking, empathy, and backbone these men have. Yeah it takes a lot to drive an F1 car but it takes a lot more to have a moral or ethical backbone.

okay but all this shit going down at RB and the other drivers making asinine comments and then all these pictures of Lewis at F1 Academy surrounded by female Mercedes employees. They knew what they were doing…

said all this about the susie wolff stuff but it remains accurate with what’s happening right now
with all the stuff going on in f1 rn, it just goes to show that you can bring in "diversity" and say cute stuff, but in the end, if no one is actually willing to talk about issues such as racism and misogyny in a way that addresses their existence and how deeply ingrained they are in the sport, then we will get nowhere. f1 doesn't exist in a bubble, it's literally being funded with oil money and is used to sportswash countries with very questionable politics.
they can put a female driver on the grid literally next year, but if f1 doesn't actually work to dismantle systemic issues and have people address their past prejudice then all we have is a female driver on the grid. it won't make the sexism and the misogyny that people in the paddock and the fanbase carry just magically disappear.
the way this entire thing has been handled by the fia is unprofessional and incredibly disrespectful to susie and I will say it's because she is a woman in power and they have no issues undermining her. if it was anyone else, things would at least been communicated behind closed doors before they were disclosed to the public.

so let me get this straight. these drivers work with women in the paddock, but when allegations of sexual harassment and how women are being treated in f1 comes up all of a sudden it’s “noise and distraction” and “you don’t care about those stuff”??? like your girlfriends and wives are in this same paddock but you don’t care since you’re not affected by it?? Got it 👍🏾 but then again these are men and i don’t expect anything good to come out of a man’s mouth much less a millionaire driver.
all this goes to show you that most of these drivers don’t care about the safety of women much less support women in the paddock. as long as their check clears that’s enough for them. that also makes me think that formula 1 doesn’t care about women empowerment or diversity and inclusion, they are just doing it for a show.

Regarding the Yuki and Daniel team orders situation: you all can say 'don't bring racism into this' 'It has nothing to do with racism yada yada'.
HOWEVER, it has very much to do with Yuki being northeast Asian. I'm a white Ferrari fan, but have to admit that if for example, Charles or Carlos, or any of white drivers do the same stuff, disobey team orders, shout into team radio and shit most people don't bat an eye. But if Yuki does this, he's infantilised, and his behavior is called childish, if Lewis complains he is called 'crymilton or something along these lines, same with Guanyu (if he did it).
But because Yuki doesn't fit into the northeast Asian stereotypes, such as being more subdued model minority one, everyone is quick to call him out.
Of course, it has to do with him being a teammates with much more popular, a 'Netflix star' Danny Ric. Who is intentionally or unintentionally leveraging his popularity and white rage against him.
It absolutely pains to say me this, but non-white drivers are never seen as equals to white ones, even 'larger than F1' Lewis Hamilton.

Lewis Hamilton being in such a bad mood this whole season is a vibe. Watching this season is all I needed to understand the move to Ferrari.
