I can’t believe I had to find out about The Passage from a gifset on Tumblr.

I hadn’t even HEARD of this show until this morning, which is terrible because I just watched all three available episodes and am now in love.

No but really, check out this trailer!

Basically to summarize. This is a ‘federal agent becomes a proud protective father in a few hours to an amazing, smart as hell little girl and also there’s gonna be a vampire apocalypse probably and she’s the future hero of mankind’ show.

And just so we’re clear this is not like a grumpy kinda mean guy comes to care about a kid despite himself but is unable to show it. No, no, no this is not like that at all, this is a ‘turns into a ride or die dad in like twenty minutes and wins her a… no, sorry HELPS her win a stuffed unicorn while bragging to everyone at the carnival in hearing distance about how awesome she is’ show.

And also unethical experiments with a vampire apocalypse probably.

But c’mon Amy’s got this.

Yes, Fox is trash.

I see a lot of commentary around The Passage with people saying they don’t trust Fox. They don’t wanna get invested because Fox is cutthroat and cancels pretty much everything. Just had to deal with them canceling Pitch with MPG. Everyone’s right.

I’m still pissed about Pitch. I’ve never felt anger like that over a show being canceled. I’ll never get over that.

But if you’re one of hundreds of thousands of people not watching because you’re feeling this, you’re one of hundreds of thousands of people whose ratings The Passage isn’t getting that could save it from potential cancellation*. That is some sad irony.

The Passage probably would’ve worked better on Netflix because it seems with scifi people prefer to binge. But it’s on Fox. Waiting for the whole season and then binging afterward doesn’t help with ratings.

DO IT FOR HER!

(*I have no idea how it’s doing in ratings, but as we keep saying, Fox is a tough network. It doesn’t matter how it’s doing. If you love it and it’s on Fox, you gotta be worried and no, that isn’t fair.)

When a young girl, AMY BELLAFONTE (Saniyya Sidney, “Fences,” “Hidden Figures”) is chosen to be a test subject, Federal Agent BRAD WOLGAST (Mark-Paul Gosselaar, “Pitch”) is the man who is tasked with bringing her to Project Noah. Ultimately, however, Wolgast becomes her surrogate father, as he tries to protect her at any cost.
