Happy Mother's Day to ALL Mother's everywhere! Today seems like the perfect day to post this sweet mama sea lion and her baby. The extra special thing about this photo is I captured this sweet scene with my own mother standing next to me. She was visiting and I was showing her the sights of the Monterey Bay. PSA: This was captured from a pier and as far a distance as possible (because they were pretty close to a walkway anyway). We were careful to not disturb this tired mama and growing baby. I'm not going to give up but give myself grace when I don't post everyday, (or twice a day to make up for missed posts) I have a good excuse, I had a minor surgery today. I had skin cancerremoved from my eyelid. I have a good shiner the Dr gave me but Ill gladly take a black eye in place of skin cancer. The surgery was a success. The next the sky burst out in blue. It went back and forth from show to blue sky all day that day. When the sun would come out like this the snow would quickly start melting and falling off the trees and shrubs. I was frantically snapping to capture the fresh snow before it was gone. "Quiet Reflection"- Living where I live on the West Coast, I don't get to experience snow. So for me, snow is a beautiful novelty. For awhile I've been spell bound by photos of Yosemite in the snow and wanted to see it. After going to Yosemite and seeing the Fire Falls I was determined to see Yosemite covered in snow. While there was snow on the ground, there wasn't SNOW. I returned to Yosemite that same week when snow was forecast but it didn't happen. So on my 3rd trip in 3 weeks I finally got to see and photograph Yosemite with fresh snow. I got up early and entered the Valley in the morning. It was breathtaking. For the first hour I was mostly alone in the park with the exception of the snow plows. It was like a religious experience.
