I hate poems. They’re too organized. Poems try to show pain and hurting. I just can’t feel it though, real pain isn’t organized. It doesn’t rhyme. It doesn’t have a phrase pattern. Real pain is crying at 2am just trying to get everything out. It’s barely even being able to get it out in words. It’s drawing pictures attempting to illustrate it, that just turn into squiggly lines on a page with tear drops on it. Pain is not knowing what to do. Pain is when you can’t breathe and not being able to get a single word out. Not writing the most beautiful piece of poetry.

God, I hate the word “if”. I hate how easily it goes with the word “what”. “What if” this. “What if” that. “What if it happened differently.” “What if they fell in love” It only creates a world of paradoxes. Our minds start trailing the fables we create in our minds down the rabbit hole. We slip out of reality thinking that the “what if’s” could create a better one. What if it did happen differently and instead of him breaking you, you broke him. What if he wouldn’t be as strong as you. What if it was him who was ruined. What if he couldn’t live with the pain. What if they did fall in love, only to fall right back out of it. What if they never found anyone else because they spent too much time in love with the wrong person. What and if is the worst possible combination of words to ever grace the English language.

how many days
when you quit smoking, they tell you it takes three days to be able to breathe normally again, five days until you are no longer physically addicted, seven days until there’s no more nicotine in your blood, six months to be entirely clean and fifteen years until the chance of a sudden death due to the consequences of smoking is minimized to 50%.
for me, you were my habit
it was on the 17th day that i didn’t think about you for one full day, it took 36 days until i stopped checking if you read my last message, 45 days until i could sleep properly, 58 days until my stomach didn’t dropped after hearing your name, 63 days for the songs to stop being about you and then, on the 98th day, the first day i would see you, i relapsed.
- a follower, @hunkaaar sent me this and I thought it was amazing. For me, it’s almost been a year and there still hasn’t been a day where I haven’t thought about you, I still can’t hear your name without my stomach dropping, and all the songs are still about you. You’re a habit I still can’t quit. I don’t want to quit you.

“Nobody wants to do it- not real change, not soul change, not the painful molecular change required to truly become who you need to be. Nobody ever does real transformation for fun. Nobody ever does it on a dare. You do it only when your back is so far against the wall that you have no choice anymore.”
