drabble request: an update for hah balla?? could be whatever you please, but some ideas i had were him actually cutting his hair, visiting her on leave, or you could even jump way in the future and show him getting out? 🥰
Here is the final part of this Tae mini-series!
Taehyung x Reader - Hah Balla Part 3: Bah Halla-lujah
Synopsis: Taehyung and you are supposed to see each other after his discharge from the army.
Word Count: approx. 2.3k words
Enjoy @wintaerbaer <3
“I’m nervous.”
“Why are you nervous?”
You turned to the man at your left, Seokjin, who was sipping water. He had been discharged from the military shortly after Taehyung and Jimin’s enlistment and, therefore, has been the one with whom you had spent most of your time. “I haven’t seen him since his last leave. That feels so long ago.”
“It was like two months ago.” Another voice at your right said, and you turned to see Hoseok gently loop your arms together, patting your arm reassuringly. You smiled, resting your head on his shoulder, allowing his comforting gesture to do just that.
“Well, for two codependent people like them, it seems fitting that they can’t go two months without being about each other,” Yoongi smirked a bit when you shot an unamused look in his face, raising his hands to claim he was done with his teasing for now.
However, Seokjin just kept pestering you. “I’m surprised you didn’t Mulan yourself and enlist.”
Hoseok laughed, and you immediately yanked your arm from his grasp, crossing it over your chest instead.
The four of you were waiting at a restaurant, one of Taehyung’s favorites, a ramen shop right in the heart of Seoul that you would all frequent often in some combination of friends. It was the best spot for afternoon drinks after a long day of work, and the last location where the both of you had drinks right before Taehyung’s enlistment. He had gotten discharged earlier that morning from his active duty, eighteen long months of seeing each other only through short leaves and communicating through letters. It was hard, but the two of you made it work for the fact that you had no other choice. You and Taehyung were not far from each other much in the history of your friendship.
But that was then, and this is now. You were sitting beside Hoseok as he skimmed over the ramen add-ons and watched as Seokjin poured the three of you a shot. All you were waiting for was Taehyung to enter the front door and-.
“Taehyung’s not coming.”
Your eyes shot up at Seokjin as he set his phone down, a pout on his face.
“Why?” You had to actively try to keep your voice from shaking. Hoseok had also looked up from his menu, which he had raised to cover his nose and lips. Yoongi was leaning over to the oldest man’s phone to get a look.
“He said something came up and his grandparents came to Seoul earlier than expected. So, he asked if we can move the dinner to the end of the week instead.” Seokjin turned his phone towards you and Hoseok, both of you leaning in to read the message.
Taehyung (sent now): Tell everyone I’m so sorry. My grandparents were supposed to come tomorrow. I’ll pay for dinner, okay?
“Oh no…” Hoseok sighed. “That stinks. I was looking forward to seeing him.”
Your eyes were glued to the cellphone message, skimming the same few words over and over again. You were hoping eventually, with enough manifesting and eye strain on the screen, another text would pop up from Taehyung saying he was on his way and he made it work. Two seconds…three seconds…four seconds…
No reply.
Seokjin finally pulled the phone back, typing a quick response and setting his phone into his back pocket. “I’m sure we can see him before the end of the week, don’t look so upset.”
“It’s just last minute.” You sighed. “I already wanted to go see him get out, and I couldn’t, and now we-.” You reached forward and took the bottle Seokjin was using to pour, using it to top you shot glass. The boys watched you throw the entire thing back, face scrunching up as the alcohol burned along your throat and mixed with the disappointment settling in your gut.
“It’s only a little longer,” Hoseok assured. You turned to him as he pointed out a few options on the menu, hoping it would distract you through the meal. From the corner of your eye, you saw Seokjin already refilling your glass.
Even though you’d already waited long for this to come, it wouldn’t make the next few hours any less tolerable.
------------------------
“Maybe you should uh…stop drinking so much.” The concerned tone in Hoseok’s voice made you turn towards him. He was smiling, but you could smell the concern on his voice in the same way he could smell the alcohol on your lips. You had been turning your head to the door at the sound of every welcome bell, but felt the same disappointment each time the owners shouted a bellowing ‘hello’ to someone without a familiar boxy smile or stunning dark brown curls (fuck, he has a buzz cut now so he wouldn’t even have curls anymore!).
“I’m fine.” You assured, turning your head from another unsuccessful glance to the door. You had also been punctuating your disappointment with another shot. Hoseok reached out and took the shot glass from your hand, a half-eaten ramen bowl pushed in your direction instead.
“Enough. Or you’ll make a fool of yourself.” Yoongi said in support of Hoseok’s attempts to get you to stop throwing back shots.
“Again.” Seokjin snorted but earned a glazy-eyed glare from you.
When your mind was pulled back to the drunken stupor Taehyung has never let you forget, even now, and you sighed. “Alllright.” Chopsticks in hand, you slurped up another bite of your ramen, then reached across the table for some of the extra sides they had set out for you guys. You four had already been there about an hour since Taehyung flaked; your alcohol intake was much too high already. Another mouthful of ramen, and you could feel your body screaming to go home. You wanted to curl up under your covers, in the dark of your room, and not come out until the headache you knew was right around the corner was long gone. You heard the bell at the front of the store ring through the small ramen shop, and you groaned, resting your head on Hoseok’s shoulder. Enough disappointment for one evening. It was enough. “Hobi, my head hurts.” You murmured.
“You’re already drunk.” Hoseok sighed, stroking your hair affectionately. You looked up at him and saw his gaze snap up to Seokjin. When you followed the gaze, Seokjin was only smiling in amusement from the other side of the table, cheeks puffed out with food stored inside. “Why don’t we take a few minutes to sober up and-.”
“Oh shit, is this the sequel to Hah Balla?” The sudden deep voice that hit the back of your head made you flinch in sheer surprise. You lifted your head, studying the grin growing on Seokjin’s face. Then, you turned to Hoseok, who had covered his mouth with his hand. It was not enough to hide the growing grin on his face.
Turning your head, a familiar boxy grin and buzz-cut – wait, it’s grown out a bit in the last two months – staring down at you. Head tilted back, you blinked up a few times and wondered if you had just gotten so drunk in such a short period you had started to hallucinate. However, when a familiar hand reached down and poked your forehead, a familiar tingling sensation coursing your body, you knew it was the real deal.
“Hey.” He grinned.
“Taehyung!” You shot up like a bullet, the effects of being a bit drunk making you sway a bit. Taehyung reached out and steadied you, but that only gave you more leverage. You grabbed his arms and tugged him into a tight hug. “What the hell!? I thought you weren’t able to come tonight anymore!”
“I lied.” He grinned. “I wanted to surprise you.”
“What?!” Your head shot towards the three boys grinning at the table. “You punks!”
“It wasn’t our idea!” Hoseok gasped.
“It was Hoseok’s idea,” Yoongi said behind his drink.
“Taehyung said he’d pay for dinner if we helped.” Seokjin pointed to the food around him.
“And you took advantage, hyung.” Taehyung frowned, already picturing the large bill that was waiting for him. His emptying wallet only distracted him for so long, however, as you gripped his arms again and he turned his attention back to you. Your pink cheeks and beaming smile immediately made him grin again. “You look so drunk.” He mused.
“I am.”
“Did you really think I wouldn’t show?”
“You took a whole hour to surprise me?” You huffed.
He mimicked your huff with a more dramatic one. “It’s only been forty-five minutes.” His hands were resting on your arms, squeezing you as if he also needed to check to make sure it was really you in his arms. The warmth of his hands felt so familiar and comforting, you couldn’t help but pull him into another hug.
“Aahh, I hate you.” You slurred a bit, and Taehyung laughed again, hugging you back. “Let’s sit and get you something to drink!” You gasped. “Let’s all do a shot!”
“No! You’re so drunk already!” Hoseok called out.
“No, let’s drink!” You begged. “Taehyung just got discharged from the army and he needs to drink.” The man laughed at how dramatic and over the top you were being, finally managing to sit you back down as Seokjin called for the owner to bring another menu and a few more bottles of alcohol, well aware of the chaos it could bring.
The owner gave the table a few side dishes and a bottle of alcohol for free to celebrate Taehyung’s discharge, and you were now the one to pour. Taehyung lifted his up, already grinning devilishly. You may be drunk, but you knew exactly what he was thinking.
“No.”
“Yes.”
“Kim Taehyung.”
“That’s me.” He grinned, unphased. “I’m going to say it.”
“Please don’t.”
“I told my entire squad about it.”
“I knew you would.” You pouted. Taehyung grinned. “Fine, fine. Hopefully I’m drunk enough that I'll forget."
Taehyung took a deep breath before shouting. "HAH BALLA!” And alerting the attention of the other patrons nearby. You laughed into your hand, covering your burning cheeks as Hoseok, Yoongi, and Seokjin repeated the cheer just as loud. You sighed, raising your own shot glass up.
“Hah balla.” You mumbled being your laughter, and the group of you threw back a shot. The burning sensation had long since disappeared, and you simply reached for a bite of kimchi. Taehyung leaned closer to you, grinning.
“I won’t ever let you forget.” He hummed softly. When you turned to face him, you noticed how close together you were, and you blinked up at him.
“You’re cruel.” A smirk formed on your face, and his soon followed.
“Ah, no kissing at the table.” Seokjin immediately cooed, stuffing a bite of rice into his mouth and looking away when Taehyung shot him a glare.
“No, let them do it. It’s about time.” Yoongi nudged Seokjin, who only laughed so hard behind his hand he coughed on the rice.
“That’s what you get.” Taehyung hissed, nose scrunched up in annoyance as he watched the oldest at the table down water to keep himself alive. Taehyung pulled back, setting some distance once again as you all continued to eat and drink. Maybe it was because you were drunk, or happy to see Taehyung again, but you simply scooted closer to him and rested your head on his shoulder. He looked over at you and smiled in amusement, patting your head.
“What did I tell you?” Yoongi motioned to the sight before him. “Codependent.”
-------------------
That night, Yoongi pushed Seokjin and Hoseok into a cab, the three hugging Taehyung and you off with the promise to get together again soon. Hopefully, their schedules would line up. You watched the cab drive off, and put a hand to your head.
“I feel like I’m swimming.”
“Well, you drank a lot.” Taehyung hummed.
“So did you!” You pointed to his cheeks.
“I was celebrating, I’m allowed.” He snorted, putting his hands in the pockets of his beige slacks. You looked him up and down, taking in the sight of him outside of a military uniform that you had seen on him so often it felt as if it were stuck to him like an old paper dress-up doll.
You reached forward and looped your arm through his, tugging at the dark grey sleeve of his shirt. “I’m happy you’re back.” He looked down at you and smiled, warm despite the night air being a bit chilly.
“I am too.” He said. “It was hard getting through the last two months without teasing you. My friends in the squad only let me talk about you so much.”
A laughed, and the both of you began walking down the street. “You talked about me?”
“All the time.” He admitted. “I mean, let’s face it, every memory worth talking about has you in it, so of course your name would come up all the time.” The fondness in his voice made your already flustered cheeks heat up even more, and you nodded, resting the side of your head on his arm as you walked. “You must have talked about me, too.”
“Eh, not really.” You hummed, and Taehyung stopped walking, yanking you to stop as well. You looked up at him and smiled. “Kidding~.”
“Alright, rude.” He pouted, finally continuing to walk as you laughed a bit. “I’m taking you home and I won’t even hold your hair when you inevitably vomit.”
“I’m not that drunk anymore, I sobered up.” Despite your reassurance, the heightened slurring of your words didn’t convince Taehyung, and he only grinned his boxy, lop-sided grin once again.
As the two of you continued to walk in silence for the next little while, you glanced back up at him and smiled. “You can stay if you want.”
He glanced down. “…At your house?” You nodded. “Alright, if you insist. I’ll take the couch.” You nodded, eyes looking down at your arm wrapped around his. Taking a deep breath, you lowered your hand down and pressed the back of your knuckles against his. Taehyung looked down, studying what you were trying to do. Without giving you another glance, he simply turned his hand, opening up his fingers and allowing yours to intertwine with his.
“I’m happy you’re home, Taehyung.” You breathed, eyes locked on the warm hand enveloping yours.
“I know…” Taehyung’s voice was soft. “You said that already.”
You nodded, squeezing the hand that felt as if it belonged in yours. “I know…” you said softly. “I just wanted to say it again.”
Taehyung nodded, his head tilting a bit to rest on top of yours as you both continued to walk.
“I am, too….” He said.

If a worker who isn't the owner says ANYTHING similar to "I'm not really supposed to do this but-" and then does something that helps you, under no circumstances inform the business, including through reviews. You tell them that the worker was polite, professional, the very model of customer service and why you like to go there. You do not breathe a word of the rulebreaking.

(im)perfect - Seoksoo
Tumblr media
Here's a little snippet of my Seoksoo fic (Im)perfect. It's still in some editing stages and will be uploaded soon hopefully! But here's a snippet from Chapter 12. I hope you guys enjoy it!
He felt Joshua pull him closer to his side, offering a smile. Even under the dim lights, Joshua looked perfect. Seokmin really wanted to kiss him, but the setting of his first kiss with this guy being at a crowded party? No. “You look overwhelmed.” Joshua asked, leaning forward a bit. His voice practically brushed Seokmin’s ear, shivering despite being packed in a hot room. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah.” Seokmin turned to him a bit. When he did his eyes immediately fell on how close their lips were. Something in Seokmin’s chest stopped. He studied Joshua’s lips for a minute. It felt as if the rest of the party had stopped, waiting at a standstill for something to happen between these two.
He really wanted to kiss Joshua.
The hand on Seokmin’s waist tightened a bit, making his breath catch in his throat. Hoping to avoid whatever gaze Joshua was looking at him with, Seokmin’s eyes dipped down to the necklace adoring his collarbones. Even in this stunning outfit, little plastic beads poking out from underneath. His finger reached up, wrapping around the beads gently. He rubbed a thumb along one of the clear beads laid right in the center.
“Is this new?” Despite Seokmin’s voice rising to be heard over the music, it was still delicate and trembling. Joshua took a second to process the question, finally nodding his head.
“I couldn’t sleep last night.” He said.
Seokmin felt his body press closer to Joshua when a couple staggered past, not even turning to utter a half-ass apology. Seokmin gulped. Each beat of the music felt as if it were crushing him into a smaller ball. He wanted to simply curl up and escape from here. But his only option was to press closer to Joshua, who was happy to oblige, bringing him closer into his circle. Seokmin felt a burning sensation in his throat. Gripping the little plastic beads as if they were the last string keeping him from falling into an endless abyss, Seokmin knew he needed to say something else to distract himself.
“You don’t sleep a lot.” Smooth.
Joshua’s nose crinkled, nodding his head. “I’ll sleep when I’m dead, I guess.”
“You’ll get sick if you say that, you know.”
“It’s not that I don’t want to, I just can’t.” He leaned closer, breath tickling Seokmin’s ear like the kiss of an angel. “This isn’t really ‘dance party’ conversation, you know.”
“I-.” Seokmin shivered. “I don’t really know much, ‘dance party conversation’.” His eyes flickered up to Joshua’s as he took another sip of his drink. Even when he wasn’t looking at Seokmin, his eyes sent shivers down his spine. He felt like he’d turn to mush at any second, forming into a puddle at Joshua’s feet. His neck craned to the large dance floor where most had congregated. Immediately, his eyes locked on Mingyu. He had arrived with Seungcheol early on in the night, both being friends with the host. Seokmin saw his shoulder-length, black hair bouncing under the colored lights with Seungcheol, head back and laughter that was drowned out by the music. He looked happy, they looked happy. No worries in the back of their mind, just enjoying the night together, in one another’s arms, like it was the only place they wanted to be.
The worst things happen at college parties. You never know who will be there, or what they’ll try to do.
“Do you want to dance?” Seokmin turned to see Joshua as he set down his beer bottle. Seokmin immediately noticed barely two sips were taken from it. “You’re staring at the dance floor so intensely.”
“There’s…” Seokmin paused. “I just saw a friend in the crowd. There’s a lot of people.” Joshua nodded.
The duo watched the party go on around them. Seokmin tried to focus on the silence that settled between them, hoping even a little drop of it would calm his nerves. He felt he should be on the dance floor, hips pressed up against Joshua because that was expected. There must be someone who has seen the both of them just standing there, wondering why the hell they were even at the party to begin with if they didn’t intend to enjoy it.
Joshua must be having a miserable time, just standing in one spot.
“Uhm-.” Seokmin’s voice turned the older male’s attention back to him. “If you want to, then-.”
“No, it’s okay.” Joshua’s hips pressed against the counter top, elbow resting on the marble surface as he scanned the crowd. “I’m fine right here.” His fingers tightened on Seokmin’s back one final time, closing all the space between them. Seokmin felt his knee press against Joshua’s thigh. “Besides, my dancing skills could put all of these guys to shame. I’m doing them a favor.”
Finally, Seokmin offered a laugh that blended with the beat. “Oh, I see.”
“Yeah. I could wipe the entire dance floor with my one signature move.”
“I kind of want to see it.” Seokmin admitted. Joshua shook his head.
“It’s way too much. It might melt your brain from all of its amazingness.” Seokmin’s laughter continued, covering his mouth as his head fell forward, pressing against Joshua’s chest. Almost immediately as it did, his head shot up right, cheeks tinted red. Amused by the reaction, Joshua leaned closer. “Hm? You okay?”
“Fine. I’m fine.” Seokmin squeaked. Joshua nodded, smiling in a way that made Seokmin feel like he was caught in a lie.
I really want to kiss him, this is insanity. How on earth do I go about doing that? What do I do? What. Do. I. Do?!
Joshua tongue ran along the inside of his bottom lip, Seokmin catching the entire thing since he couldn’t peel his eyes away from that part of his perfect face.
Is that his sign he wants to kiss me? I can’t tell. What if I go for it and make a fool of myself? I’ll never live it down. I’ll never live it down.
         “Seokmin.” Joshua breathed.
Do I even want my first kiss with him to be at some party? What will that make me? Will he think I want to do other stuff? Don’t you do other stuff at a party?
“Seokmin.” His voice was a bit firmer.
“Hm?” Seokmin could barely feel the sound leave his lips.
“You’re squeezing my necklace like it owes you money.” Seokmin’s eyes finally steadied, dropping from Joshua’s lips to the vice grip he had on the plastic beads. They were lifted off his neck from the force of his grip.
His grip loosened completely, allowing the jewelry to fall back against Joshua’s skin. “Sorry…” Joshua only shrugged.

With my Seoksoo fic in the editing/revising process and Mingyu being done, I have lots of ideas of ship and reader fics I want to work on next. But I'm struggling with some writer's block.
SO! My DM's are open for any requests/short drabbles to hopefully get my brain up and running again to give you some more long-form content!
Tumblr media
With that said, here's who I'll write about/for:
SEVENTEEN BTS TWICE
I'll write short drabbles inspired by:
Quotes
Prompts
Imagines (just list everyone you want to see in the imagine and I'll try my best).
Romance/Angst/Fluff/Hurt Comfort/etc.
My only will not is I will NOT write smut.
Obviously totally optional, but I don't want to keep my Tumblr dry for too long and I think it would be so fun to see what ideas you would want to see! <3 Thank you and happy reading!

------One Year Later, Fall-----
"What do you think is wrong now?" You asked.
"How should I know? Don't babies have a different cry for everything?"
"I think so."
"Well, which cry is this? I don't think I've heard this one before." A yawn ripped through Mingyu's throat and chest as he rubbed his eyes. It was another late night, the sounds of a baby screaming echoed through the apartment walls. It was as if someone had shot a bullet in a small room, allowing it to ricochet off each wall and fly to the next constantly. It never ended, and you and Mingyu were constantly trying to avoid being hit. You sighed, sinking onto the couch as you rubbed the little ones' back. Mingyu watched as you paced the room, hoping the little bouncing movements matched with your gentle coos would soothe the baby. No luck.
"I think he's been crying for two days straight." You sighed.
"Tell me about it. I hope he's not getting sick." Mingyu walked over to the fridge, pulled it open, and scanned the contents. "Shit." He groaned.
"What?"
"Out of milk." He stood upright. "I thought I got some more."
"I went through so much while you were at work." You watched as Mingyu walked over pulling both you and the crying baby close. He kissed the baby, and then the top of your head. It didn't soothe the baby, but it did soothe you.
"I'll run to the store." He said. "That 24 hour one should have some milk."
"Okay." You said. Mingyu smiled, tired yet generous.
"Want something for yourself?"
"Surprise me." You murmured. Mingyu nodded. You finally sank onto the couch, listening as Mingyu dragged his feet to the door. You continued to rub your baby's back. You didn't even bother looking behind you as Mingyu closed the door behind him, heading out to the store. The baby's cries continued to ring through your ears. Hoping for luck the second time around, you rose from the couch and started walking. You passed the TV stand, then the bookshelf. You stopped for a minute, bouncing the baby in your arms as you stared down at the snow globe. A flurry of pictures surrounded it on all of the shelves: particularly the ones from Mina in Jeju. The one of you, Joshua, and Jeonghan flashing a peace sign and a grin on the beach was currently in your sights. You smiled at the memory; amazed almost two years had passed since all of that happened. Beside it sat a new set of pictures of you and Mingyu at the Japanese cherry blossom festival. One had Mina with you, the three of you meeting up the first time you both visited Japan after everything happened. It was a beautiful day, the three of you enjoying it as any group of friends would. It was as if the previous year's events had not happened during that trip. You smiled at the memory, both of you a whole year younger and still aware of what a full night's sleep felt like.
When a cough came from the baby in your arms, you kissed the top of his head. "It's okay..." you said softly, continuing your lap around the living room. The baby still was not stopping, the longer he cried the louder it sounded like it was getting. "Hurry up, Mingyu." You begged to yourself as if it would work. He had just left, after all, and the store was a good 10-minute walk away. As your feet stopped pacing, you looked around the dim and empty apartment. A deep feeling bubbled in your stomach, and you felt your eyes water. When you looked down at the little bundle in your arms, even as he cried, you took one large deep breath. The last one you needed, calming yourself before you lost it. Even a few months in, it was such an overwhelming feeling to have a baby. "We're alright." You said out loud, mainly for yourself. That affirmation seemed to start calming the baby down, though barely. "See? We're alright." Smiling, you kissed his forehead and sat back down on the couch. Holding the baby in your arms, you looked down at your hands. Your pointer fingers and thumbs were poking into view from under your son.
"It wouldn't." you chuckled to yourself at the idea that briefly flashed through your mind. "There's no way." As the cry of your son continued to reverberate once again, you figured it was worth a shot. Shifting the baby, you immediately snapped both of your fingers. Other than the sound being drowned out by the crying, the room remained untouched. Unaffected. "Tch. Knew it. I must be going crazy from lack of sleep."
Maybe you were because in that moment, there was a knock on your front door. You looked over, holding the baby close. Who would be knocking in the middle of the night? The sound of the knock only made him cry louder, and you immediately pressed a kiss to his temple, shushing him as much as you could. Standing up, you laid him down in his little bassinet, before making your way towards the door. You kept your movements light, not sure what the cue would be – if there was one – to open the door and trust the person on the other side. As you stepped closer, one final knock came, followed by:
"It's us!" A familiar gentle voice flooded your brain, and you immediately lunged forward, flinging the door open. At the door stood two familiar faces, both dawned in all-white attire much as their brothers had the few times they came for a visit. They looked almost exactly the same as they did the last time you saw them two years prior, and you gasped.
"Oh my -."
"Don't say that," Joshua said quickly, grinning. You looked down at your hands, then back up to him.
"Did it actually work?" she asked. Jeonghan and Joshua glanced at one another, grinning.
"Ahh, you really tried?" Jeonghan said. "You can just call that a coincidence."
"Well, come in." you reached forward, taking their hands as you led them into the apartment. Once they were inside, the door closed behind them, you reached out and pulled them into a hug one at a time. "What the heck are you doing here at this hour?"
"We were in the neighborhood." Jeonghan shrugged.
"At five a.m.?" you smirked. The duo seemed defeated before they could even continue with their little ruse.
"We heard the news." Joshua finally explained simply.
"Yeah." Jeonghan rubbed his ears. "We really heard the news."
"And once we did, we made sure to get everything in order to come visit." When you cocked an eyebrow, Jeonghan decided to add a bit more detail.
"Even after all this time we have to get special permission for a lot of things. Like a probation." He shrugged. "No big deal. Totally worth it."
You laughed a bit hurrying back over to the bassinet. Lifting the little bundle back into your arms, you watched the duo approach.
"You think your ears hurt? This has basically been my music playlist since we brought him home. He's a fussy one." Immediately, you felt a hand press to your back. When you looked over, you saw Joshua standing by your side. When you saw another figure move beside you, you caught sight of Jeonghan standing in front of you and the baby.
"May I?" he asked. You nodded, immediately feeling the warmth spread from Joshua's palm through your spine and through your nerves. A deep, relaxed breath escaped you as Jeonghan pressed his finger to the newborn's forehead. You watched as the baby's cries slowly died down before he simply began whimpering and closing his eyes.
"You can do it too?" you asked. Jeonghan nodded.
"I really made God mad when we got kicked down here." He pointed out. You looked down at your son, kissing his forehead.
"Please form another contract to be my forever nannies." You begged in a soft, yet very desperate whisper. The duo could only smile, which didn't provide you with an answer. Well, it did, but not the answer you wanted.
"What's his name?" Jeonghan changed the subject, brushing some of his little hairs from his face. You sighed.
"So no on the nanny thing?" you asked. Jeonghan shook his head.
"Even if I could, I wouldn't," he said honestly. Sighing, you watched as Joshua leaned down as well, gently taking hold of the baby's foot that stuck out of the blanket, careful to recover it with the gentleness an angel could provide.
"Ah. Well..." you looked at the duo. "Jisoo."
Immediately, Joshua and Jeonghan's eyes shot up to you. Joshua in particular looked shocked at your comment. He looked back down at the baby, then up to you.
"You're kidding." He gasped. He seemed to think you'd admit to the joke, and reveal the real name. However, you shook your head. Joshua took the next few seconds to take a deep breath. "Please put the child down."
You smiled as Jeonghan offered to hold him for a second, careful not to wake him. Once he was out of your arms, Joshua gripped your hands tightly. He pulled you close. "You're kidding." He repeated again.
"Want to see the birth certificate?" you asked, smiling. Joshua was quick to look at the infant once more as Jeonghan gently continued to hold him.
"When do I get a baby named after me?" Jeonghan pouted.
"Please don't encourage Mingyu to have more kids." You sighed. "Not yet. I can't handle it."
"That doesn't answer my question." He pointed out. "I will be asking."
"He's already mentioned it like twice."
"I'll make him ask a third." You groaned, resting your forehead on Joshua's chest. He laughed a bit, patting your shoulders.
Just then, the door opened, and the three of you looked over. Mingyu stepped in, slipping his shoes off. He was holding two bags in both of his hands, letting out another yawn of exhaustion. "I'm ba-." His greeting was interrupted when he saw Joshua and Jeonghan standing beside you, Jeonghan cradling his son. "What the hell are they doing here at five in the morning?"
"I asked the same thing." You said, turning to Mingyu. He set the bags on the table, rubbing his eyes.
"Is he finally asleep?" he asked. You nodded, motioning to Jeonghan.
"I'm a natural." He said simply. Mingyu chuckled. When made it over, offering you another kiss on your head, he shook Joshua's hand and waved to Jeonghan, who nodded his head in response.
"If you're a natural, then-."
"I already asked." You stated quickly. "No dice."
"Damn." Mingyu chuckled. Jeonghan passed you the baby, making sure he was still sound asleep. "Hopefully, we can get some sleep before he wakes up again."
"I forgot what that feels like." You sighed. You watched as Joshua stared down at the baby, eyes sparkling as he watched the little bundle shift and gurgle in his sleep. You couldn't help but smile.
"Please, don't be strangers." You said. "Come over. All the time, even." You said.
"To nanny?" Jeonghan asked.
"Yes." The new parents pleaded in unison. Jisoo gurgled, threatening a whine as he began to stir, and Joshua reached out, putting a hand on his forehead as Mingyu went to the door.
"We should let you guys sleep then," Jeonghan said when he took a second to look at both of your faces.
"Will you guys be around long?" Mingyu asked. "The others said they're stopping by this afternoon. I'm sure they'd love to see you."
"Jihoon will be there, too." You said. The duo shared a look, contemplating the idea for a minute.
"Sure," Joshua said quickly. "I'm sure that'll be alright." As little Jisoo once again threatened to stir, you sighed.
"Let's get him in bed so we can sleep." You said.
Jeonghan, now knowing they had nowhere to be until later in the evening, took a seat on the couch. "Go to sleep." He said. "I mean you invited us to stay for a while. Go to sleep. We'll watch the little guy." You smirked a bit at the comment.
"But-."
"I don't think Joshua is going to stop staring at him anytime soon." Jeonghan pointed to his friend.
"I absolutely will not." He said simply.
"Go on. Rest up. We can handle a little human baby."
"I'm glad someone can." You said, passing him to Joshua. The transfer caused him to whimper once again, but once Joshua got him in his arms, Jisoo immediately silenced and lulled back into sleep. Joshua looked at Jeonghan, his friend laughing a bit at the way his friend's eyes sparkled. The duo watched as you both shuffled into your bedroom, closing the door. Joshua settled onto the couch, holding the baby in his arms. He looked at Jeonghan.
"This is so much better than getting back into heaven."
"The real reward, hm?" Jeonghan asked in amusement. Joshua nodded. "I'll agree with you there."
🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶So Close Yet So Far🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
Later in the day, as promised, everyone had gathered to see the little infant in your apartment. Mingyu sat on the floor with Hoshi and Jihoon, watching as the baby rested on his stomach. Hoshi was holding a little tiger toy in his direction, moving it ever so slightly as he encouraged Jisoo to follow it with his eyes.
"Is he even old enough to be able to do that?" Minnie asked.
"He's already a month," Mingyu said. "He should be fine. They say tummy time is good right away." Finally, he scooped the little guy up into his arms, rubbing his back as he nestled into his father's embrace. Hoshi leaned forward, once again trying to get him to look at the tiger toy. When Jihoon leaned forward to help encourage Jisoo, you smiled. "Who is that?" Mingyu asked, pointing to the two individuals huddled close together in hopes of getting Jisoo to look in their direction with eager waves.
You sipped water on the couch, finding a comfortable nostalgia nestled between the two angels, both of them also with a drink in their hand as they watched everyone's attention sit on the baby. When he hiccupped, Mingyu was quick to catch the spit up before it got on his shirt.
"Nice catch." You said, and Mingyu laughed. As everyone continued to chat and interact with the baby, you looked between the two angels sitting on either side of you.
"Are you guys enjoying being back home?" You asked curiously.
"It's nice," Jeonghan said.
"Do you miss it?" You asked curiously. "Being on earth?"
"Mmmm sometimes," Jeonghan said.
"Not enough to stay forever though." Joshua made sure to add, Jeonghan nodding in agreement. He motioned to the duo sitting beside Mingyu on the floor. "He makes it look easy." You looked at Jihoon, who now, instead of waving to the baby, was watching as Hoshi did instead. His hand had gently reached towards Jisoo's as he tried to make a baby tiger paw sign.
"You'll get it one day, little cub." Hoshi nodded.
"Don't call him that," Seungkwan said. Hoshi pouted, looking at Jihoon for the validation Seungkwan had no intention of giving.
"It's cute." He assured Hoshi with a pat on the shoulder.
As the entire room settled into a comfortable togetherness, you allowed yourself time to sit back and just observe. You couldn't remember the last time you had such a nice time watching your friends interact, especially since Jisoo was born. You felt Joshua and Jeonghan loop their arms through yours, looking between them once again. You felt a sense of comfort in the familiar touch, smiling as you nestled close into them. As Mingyu stood up intending to put your son to sleep, he looked over. Immediately an unamused frown formed on his face.
"Even when we're married you're still going to pull this nonsense?" he asked.
Jeonghan nodded. "Absolutely."
"Why do you think we can here in the first place, Kim Mingyu?" Joshua asked a look of disgust on his face that Mingyu would even ask. As you wormed out of their grip, you motioned Mingyu into the nursery.
"Let's go." Closing the door behind you, Mingyu finally set Jisoo into his bassinet, the baby fussing for a minute. He put his hand on the baby's belly, watching as the baby slowly began to soothe himself knowing someone was still nearby. You rested against the side, watching as your son's eyes began to close.
"This might be the best gift you've ever given me." You said, looking up at Mingyu. He immediately returned your glance, smiling though a bit embarrassed.
"Couldn't agree more." He simply said.
