July 14th, 2020 - My neighbours got a puppy! He’s a purebred Beagle, his name is Leone (italian word for “lion”). Here is Annie meeting him for the first time. She was so cautious and kept incredibly quiet, I was so proud of her!
July 12th, 2020 - BBQ with friends! One of them brought his dogs, too, and it was so fun! Their names are Rasha and Drugo and they are mom and son. They’re both lovely, but Annie got way too excited at a certain point and Rasha bit her on her muzzle to set some limits. Nothing serious, but Annie certainly got the point and kept herself at distance for some time. Last picture is the three of them hanging out again at the end of the afternoon.
Here, have some #throwback pictures of baby Annie and her siblings for an overload of cuteness
Some background: the mum’s name is Flo, she’s a black cocker-labrador mix. Annie’s siblings, all male, carry now the name of Brownie (the one with lighter brown fur), Dik (one of the two black and white puppies, both now more similar to Annie’s dad, an unknown border collie) and Yago (the other one). Their owners and I (Flo’s mom included) have a super fun WhatsApp group chat where we share pictures and videos of them growing up and we’re also planning a meet up. We’re like a big long-distance family and I love it!
July 8th, 2020 - I hurt my ankle while out with Annie and couldn’t properly walk for a couple of days. Annie didn’t seem to understand what was going on at first but after seeing me for some hours on the couch she began trying to comfort me, both by cuddling with me and by bringing me toys so that I could play with her. My heart melted. I was seriously concerned that she would freak out after a whole day without walks (I could barely take her out for potty breaks and there was no member of my family available to take her for a proper walk) but I managed to somehow burn some of her energy her by playing (sort of) fetch inside and she was actually quite good! I think she understood that something was wrong.
July 7th, 2020 - Here in Italy we say “Il sole bacia i brutti perché i belli li bacian tutti” (approximately “The sun kisses the ugly ones because the pretty ones are already kissed by everyone”) but this isn’t the case for Annie because she’s the prettiest puppy on Earth ❤
July 4th, 2020 - While at my in-laws’ mountain hut, I went hiking alone with Annie because Giovanni wasn’t feeling well that day. We walked for something like an hour, admired wonderful landscapes (I) and hunted grasshoppers (Annie). We reached “Baita di Bröseda” (Bröseda hut) and then came back. Annie got to burn some of her energy and also meet some other dogs. She was much calmer afterwards, Giovanni and I could get some rest in the afternoon 😍
June 29th, 2020 - Annie looked bored during the training session, so I tried to spice things up introducing this simple game where she had to guess in which hand the treat was, then put her paw on the hand she chose and she would get the treat if and when it was the right one. The idea of filming came to my mind only after she had understood the game rules, but basically it went like this: at first she sniffed the hand and touched it with her nose, so I withdrew my hands every time hoping she’d get the clue she had to touch them with her paw; she eventually got it (she already knew “paw”/”shake” so it was auspicable) and also quickly understood she’d get the treat once she’d put her paw where it was. I tend to forget how fun it is to train her, I need to come back to this video more often.
