the fact that cameron's only friends all turned their backs on him when all he wanted to do was help them makes me so sad... like i really sympathise with him because assuming that his family doesn't have the same kind of money that charlie's does, he figured he was in a situation where he could pick the lesser of the two evils. mr keating had the resources to live a comfortable life, with a wife living in london. it was his own choice to teach at welton. cameron couldn't give up his future for a man who already had his laid out.

from the beginning, he was reluctant to take the risk of being a part of the dead poet's society, but did it because he didn't want to lose his only friends, amongst which he was already unpopular and constantly antagonised. then, when he did and things went south, and he did the thing he figured was for the greater good of himself and his friends, he lost them anyway.

he deserved better i fear...
