Hiruzen and Hinata are both bystanders to Naruto's suffering. They may have silently supported him and looked past his label, but they still both did jackshit to fill his loneliness and that's exactly why in the manga, Hiruzen's ass doesn't even show up in Naruto's "helped me through my loneliness" flashbacks and also why Hinata is the farthest to the right side of the last panel. Unless... you're claiming that Gaara's thing is also a lie?
