I recently spent a couple hours stringing this Nordic apron 'Festoon' jewelry together for a themed wedding happening the next day. I had neither the tools handy nor a good apace to work, I did it on my bed using whatever I could find. That does unfortunately mean I'll eventually have to re-string it, with some better type of cording and such.
My eye were wobbly and strained the rest of the morning at least. I didn't mean to procrastinate. My to-do list is a sort of escalator full of jostling, shifty people who don't want to reach the top. Once at the top, they are promptly devoured in a severe manner. The way my ADHD and Bipolar have chosen to work together is both chaotic-looking and madly efficient.
Tumblr media
It uses fairly rustic materials, like copper for the brooches, and wood, blown glass, freshwater pearls, and hand forged metals for beads. I collected these things over a couple months or so. It wouldn't win a contest on perfect historical accuracy but it's actually awfully close. They may not have made some of those things personally, but the Norse/"Vikings" traded ridiculously far, with artifacts from the middle east having been found. Glass beads would be highly unusual, so my Festoon is pretty showy and high class.
The key is a handmade bronze/brass replica off Etsy by LegendsGardarike. Norse women had full rights as owners of the house with their husband, so for me this represents the home I help keep. (Polyamorous aside: technically I need to get a second key...)
Tumblr media
The linen dress and apron themselves are pretty and fit great, made by Armstreet on Etsy, but the trims, some colors, and bits of the patterns are not perfectly historical. But this is still the nicest complete garb outfit I've ever had so it's a win.
Tumblr media
I always forget to get photos of me standing. But here, from the Armstreet website, is kinda what the back design is like.
Tumblr media
Next... Some sort of leather belt, and a couple bags/pouches to attach. Also a bone comb. Eventually some sort or something for my head. What else?

Gonna be sourdough bread time soon. Get those starter cultures ready! Remember to name it for good luck.
To make your own: https://diypagan.com/2019/11/20/the-magic-of-bread-and-leavening/
It's a great way to connect to nature in your own kitchen, and there are many sourdough recipes out there, like classic bread and pizza dough or noodles and sweet muffins.
Tumblr media
I'm sure I will post recipes as I make them!

Make art, then move on to the next. Be terrible or entertain only yourself, but more importantly, be prolific. Make hundreds and hundreds of pieces of art that will never live on a stranger's wall or have the chance to hear a compliment.
Experiment wildly, like no one has ever attempted ANYTHING like that ever, until you. Be the mad scientist, use the good paper, waste the good paint.
Remember that art is your heart and mind learning to express the intangible through an earthly, fallible form just doing it's best. It's not easy to learn the physical skills necessary to even attempt to keep up with a soul's pace.

A creepy craft for Halloween! Human teeth made of Sculpey (polymer clay) in a little corked jar, on a leather cord.
Tumblr media
I can go over the general process, it's hard to explain some details without being in person.
Here are the colors of clay I use. You only need a little of most colors, I use mostly white and translucent.
Tumblr media
Regarding tools, you can use whatever you have on hand. Keeping your nails trimmed helps a LOT.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the part that I need someone to record me. Look at photos of real teeth. Buy some off Etsy/etc if you can, because it helps having sizing examples. Teeth are smaller than you think they are. I mostly use the fine pointed tool, and the tiny ball-ended tool, and the curved knife-like one. Soft touches, smooth out fingerprints and notches you don't want.
Teeth typically have 1 to 4 roots. They do a lot of weird shit. Some curl together, some spread out wide like an octopus, some spiral, some split. You can get away with a lot if you're doing creepy teeth. You can carve in holes, pitting, cracks.
Tumblr media
Painting is done with paper towels, finely pointed soft brushes, basic craft paint, and especially my fingers.
I start with red on the roots, letting it wipe off with my fingers and reapplying in thin layers so it looks natural. Red and/or dark brown gets rubbed into the crevices on the cap, then the reachable paint is wiped off. It makes it look old, or very deep. You can layer thin smears of green and yellow for rotten teeth.
Tumblr media
I stick them in a paper towel roll as I go, for drying. Plus it looks wicked.
Tumblr media
You need two glazes: matte for the roots, and a high gloss for the enameled tooth cap.

Happy haunting! I'd love it if you share any you make. #AnxietyGardening

Cat-sitting for an extended while. Avery is getting used to his new digs slowly but surely, and is generally very friendly and sweet, but sometimes things are just T O O M U C H and he needs to retreat to his Closet of Solitude.

'innerbloom' 馃崈
There's a lot going on around us, we consume mostly not by choice but with no choice, its the beauty and cruelty of life. Our surroundings make us feel incomplete as the void in us may never be full. 'innerbloom' is about growth from inside, looking into ourselves, getting comfortable with the silence and realizing how full and complete you already are.

Grief comes like a fucking tsunami, a sudden gravitational displacement caused by a massive geological force and nothing less. The Earth itself breaks and is never the same again. At the start, it looks like the tide is just out, till the swelling waters in the distance are suddenly made full and tremendous, the silent trough to a roaring crest. And it never hits the land the way you expect it to.
