“…Daruizen.”
Nodoka didn’t know how the Byo-gen survived fusing with King Byo-gen, let alone his purification. But here he was. She couldn’t help but notice how… different he seemed from the last time she’d seen him. The hate rolled off of the Byo-gen in waves, sending a chill down Nodoka’s spine.
“No. I don’t regret my decision,” Nodoka answered. “You already took so much from me. I’m not going to suffer because it’s convenient for you!” Nodoka looked Daruizen in the eyes. He seemed weaker than he was previously— almost like she had been all that time ago.
“How are you even here? I thought your consciousness was lost when the King absorbed you!” If Daruizen was going to attempt to undermine the earth again once he recovered, Nodoka knew she had to do something to stop him.
Hearing his name whispered from her lips nearly got a snarl out of him. Once deriving amusement upon hearing his name said in exasperation now brought about a mutual detest, his teeth gritting menacingly as he contemplates on what to say. “You’ll be relieved to know that the feeling is mutual. I don’t need you, I don’t need him.”
He never did. While once in servitude to him, it was never quite as sincere as say his overly affectionate cohort. There was always a shred of doubt in who he served, hesitation in doing the things that he did for him. No, it was never about him, he tries to convince himself. Undermining the earth was something he himself wanted.
Yet he had nearly forgotten what it felt like to desire upon losing his conscious, only able to retrieve back from what one could only possibly deem as a miracle. Though his pride prevents him from thinking it as such. This was a result of his will, and nothing else. He got out of this through his own determination, even if he first had to endure a hefty fall that seemed impossible to crawl back up from.
“It’s my will -- ” He grunts, his voice coarse by a dry, worn out sensation in his throat. “My will...is far stronger than any of yours. I will survive, and I don’t need anyone to accomplish that, including you.” That may have been the case spanning from years to days ago, but he was determined to see through with surviving by himself. As to how is a thought for another day, but he was set on seeming confident and determined in his words in front of his former host.

“𝓨es! You’re supposed to say that they look great!” Shindoine huffed as she waved her hands in the air to dry them off after attempting to get Daruizen to notice the amethyst colour of her nails. “Why do you have to be so rude? I tried to call you five times and nothing. What are you thinking about that’s so important?”
“What, so you would prefer I lie?”
Not that it looked terrible, or great for that matter, he just didn’t care. Though that was fairly typical of him to think. Not paying mind to whatever frustration his cohort carried towards him, he resumes the silence from before, only to be the one to interrupt it this time in response to her inquiry. “... You were the first of us to meet King Byogen, right?” He answers with a question of his own, quirking a brow in suspicion.

☆ || @apathiism liked for a thing!
“𝓗ow can you be s satisfied with yourself!?” Fontaine shouted back to Daruizen as the ocean in front of her turned a deep and depressing colour, undermined by the Pathogerm’s power. “How can you not feel one bit of remorse for what you’ve done! All of the pain and suffering you’re causing the ocean– I won’t stand for it!”
“Hah...”
His natural reaction was to hover a hand over his mouth, eliciting a yawn that came with the little guilt he felt over his actions. He hated having to put in more work than he needed to, much less explain himself, especially knowing his words would fall short on deaf ears. It certainly didn’t help that he was facing an opponent he didn’t have much preference for, his amusement finding a place in toying with a certain other cure.
However, he wasn’t going to dwell on what could have been, as he takes his sweet time in answering, as if doing her a favor. “And why should I feel remorse for simply trying to survive? Just as you are trying to sustain a habitable environment for yourselves, so are we.” Survival of the fittest, a tale as old as time. Because in the end, that is what this all narrowed down to.

“DON’T TOUCH HER!”
Hand cupping his ear at the sudden raise in voice, he recycles the same, dragged out sigh that was no stranger to anyone who knew him. “Who’s to say I was planning to?”

“You...”
Snarling, he doesn’t even dare usher her name, the very thought building up vile at the back of his throat. What were once feelings of amusement at the thought of toying with her had now become nothing but loathe and distaste as he watched her merry along her every day life. “What, don’t tell me you’ve had a change of heart?” While highly unlikely, oh would how that only further the bitter taste left in his mouth.
