Day 7 - Fantasy
Written for day 7 of @aph-romnor-week
Word count: 1318 words
Warnings: almost freezing to death, mentions of close-mindedness
Fairy AU because I’ve been feeling nostalgic lately.
Names:
Mihaela: Nyo!Romania
Signe: Nyo!Norway
The lake has frozen over. It sparkles as the light catches its clear surface not yet dented by reckless humans. Mihaela lands on a stone covered in a thin sheet of ice, grateful for the opportunity to rest her wings. A winter chill coaxes her breath out in miniscule clouds that dissipate seconds after appearing, wrapping her in a cloak of dew. She shivers.

Day six of @aph-romnor-week
Theme: Nighttime
Warnings: Character Death and OCness
Norway- Eindride
Romania- Viorel
I wrote the beginning and I to rechange it because I started to write for the wrong prompt. It was a good thing I checked or otherwise I would have summited the wrong prompt.
Anyway, Emil meets Viorel in this one. I hope you enjoy. ^^
▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪
Eindride's thoughts had been lately been filled with Viorel and what almost happened during their Halloween party.
He couldn't believe that he almost kissed him, but if he were honest, he wanted to. There was something going on between the two of them and Eindride had a feeling what it is, but he wasn't sure how to bring it up to him.
Since then, there had been a lot of almost accidental kisses and gentle touches and caresses, but neither of them addressed the situation between them and it never went any further then that.
Eindride wanted to take the next step, but he wasn't sure how. Should he just kiss him or should he talk about it first? He never dated anyone in his life so he wasn't sure what to do. He, also, didn't want this to go horribly and things end up awkward between the two of them.
"Are you ready to go?" Emil asked when he came from his room.
Today will be Emil's first day into Crystal Night Forest and it will be the first time Eindride will introduce his brother to Viorel.
He wasn't worried about them meeting as he had a feeling that the two of them would get a long. At least, that was what he hope anyways.
He nodded his head to answer his brother before leading his brother to the border that the day and night side shared. He was the first one to crossed over and he couldn't help to chuckle when Emil gasped in aw when his markings appeared.
"Why do you have those markings?" Emil asked. "Why did they appear?"
"It's something special the night side does." Eindride said. "Viorel believes they are either our life sources or markings our souls always has. The night side shows those markings, but once you step into the day side, they disappear."
Eindride chuckled again before he went over and took Emil's hand. "Enough gawking, Viorel is waiting for us." He said before pulling his brother through the barrier.
He watched for a minute as his brother's white markings took a shape of a stream as a light blue lights moved along it slowly. He smiled as his brother stared down at himself in aw and amazement before looking up at Eindride.
"This place is werid." Emil mumbled as he removed his hand from Eindride's and started to walk on ahead after he was over his shock.
Eindride followed after him before taking the lead, but he kept a slow pace so Emil could enjoy the view. He stopped walking when he reached their normal meeting spot.
He let his eyes scan the lake and the woods and waited for Viorel to do his normal surprised attack. He caught movement on the corner of his eye and waited for Viorel to make his move before he turned around and grabbed his friend by his arms.
"Aw, again?" Viorel pouted as Eindride shook his head. "You are getting too good at this game. I am going to need to shake it up a little if I am going to scare you."
Eindride sighed, but he let go of Viorel's arms before he reached up and pat his head gently. "One of these days your going to have to give up." He said.
"Never." Viorel said with a smile before turning to Emil. "So you must be Eindride's precious little brother. I am Viorel, it's a pleasure to meet you, Emil."
"Likewise," Emil said with a nod.
Eindride took a step back and let Emil and Viorel chat for a couple of minutes. The two seem to be getting along quite nicely and Eindride couldn't stop the fond smile from appearing when Viorel got Emil to smile a little bit.
Emil's eyes met Eindride's and gave him a small nod. He only gave him a nod when he approved of things so he could only assume that Emil was giving his approval of Viorel. He felt relieved as well as happy that Viorel got the approval of his little brother.
"Anyways, if you two are ready, we can go on our little adventure." Viorel said.
"What adventure?" Emil asked.
"I promised your brother that I would take him and you to meet the creatures of this forest once the wall disappeared." Viorel said. "The wall only disappears once a year for a month and the wall just disappeared today so we can make it over safely."
"Before you ask, the wall he was taking about is made of dark blue clouds with colorful lightning." Eindride explained. "It's basically one gaint tornado that Viorel got caught up in once."
"Never again," Viorel mumbled. "Anyways, the creatures live on the other side of the wall and now that the wall is gone we can go see the creatures. However, I am going to take you the fun way to get there."
"The fun way?" Eindride asked as he wondered what Viorel was planning.
"Trust me, I promise neither of you will regret it." Viorel winked at them before walking off.
Eindride shook his head and sighed before he followed after Viorel who led them to some sort of gaint leafy plant.
"Take each other's hands because we will have to jump on the plant at the same time." Viorel said.
"Why?" Emil asked.
"You will see."
Eindride wasn't sure if he should trust that mechivous sparkle look in Viorel's eyes, but he went ahead and placed his hand into Viorel's before placing his other hand into Emil's. Viorel did the count down before all three of them onto the planet together. Eindride gripped onto Viorel's and Emil's hand tightly as the plant turned orange and made a sound that sounded like it cane from a piano before shooting them into the air. They landed on another planet that turned a different color and making a different key sound. Eindride was chuckling as Viorel was shouting in excitement while Emil's eyes were sparkling. He was having fun himself as it made him feel like he was a kid again. These plants kind of reminded him of one of those bounce houses or a trampoline that he went on as a kid.
Soon, the fun was over as they landed on top of a rock formation that looked out to the forest.
"See, I told you I would take you guys the fun way." Viorel said, but Eindride wasn't paying attention.
He was too busy being awe struck by the beautiful colorful lights that was being created by these white and black snakes that had tiny little wings on their heads and their tails. The lights that they created reminded him of the aurora borealis back when he was alive.
"Those are Snarolis." Viorel said. "They live up in the sky and never come down below. If they do, they lose their light and die."
Eindride nodded as he continued to take in the view of the forest down below and the snowy mountain that he could see in the distance through all the mist and the fog.
"This place is beautiful, isn't it?" Viorel asked.
Eindride turned his head and looked at him. His eyes soften as he took in the sight of him as the man stared off. "Yeah, beautiful." He whispered.
Viorel turned and met Eindride's eyes as they stared at each other for a moment. Viorel offered him a small smile that added to his beauty in Eindride's opinion. He wanted to reach out to him, but Viorel had already turned away and started to walk away.
"Come on you two," Viorel said. "We have more creatures to see."
Eindride let out a sigh as he watched Viorel walk away. He turned to tell his brother to come on, but he saw his brother standing behind him with an eyebrow raised. "What?" He asked.
"As Leon and Alfred would say...you have it bad. Really bad," Emil said.
Eindride turned his back to him and started to walk away. "I have no idea what you are talking about." He said.
"Don't play dumb with me, Eindride." Emil said. "You like Viorel and it is really obvious that you do."
Eindride stopped walking before turning to look back at his brother. "Can we not talk about this now?" He asked.
"Fine, but if you don't tell him by the end of this trip, I will tell him for you."
"You wouldn't dare."
"I would dare, since you forced me to come on this trip because you threaten to take my licorice away." Emil said before walking past his brother before whispering one last thing. "It's rather obvious Viorel likes you, too. So just man up and tell him already."
Eindride turned and watched him leave before staring up into the night sky. Maybe, Emil was right that he should tell him. He just needed to get over his fears and break the wall that was between them so they both could move forward, but it was up to Viorel to decide on how they move forward though.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath before he opened his eyes and followed after the other two.

Day 6 - Nighttime
Written for day 6 of  @aph-romnor-week
Warnings: blood and violence (not overly graphic, but thought it best to mention)
Word count: 5567 words
This is a Bloodborne AU, so beware of spoilers! I’ve written this so it makes sense (hopefully) for people who haven’t played the game, and I’ve taken some artistic liberty with parts of the lore.

Fuck this city and everyone in it.
Vasilica’s knees trembled. His chest heaved from exertion. Blood stained his clothes, drying on the serrated edge of his cleaver. Foul blood. Tainted by the Scourge. It pooled around the slain beast, cobbled stones turning slippery with its touch.

Day five of @aph-romnor-week
Theme: Halloween
Warnings: Mentions of Death and OCness
Romania- Viorel
Norway- Eindride
Since my understanding entry was kind of sad and I have been writing mostly in Eindride's point of view mostly, enjoy something in Viorel's POV for once. ^^
Also, sorry this seems rushed, but I struggled to come up with something and I got out of work late. I hope you enjoy it either way. ^^
▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪
Viorel felt a rush of excitement rush through him as he patiently waited for Eindride to come get him.
The man had something special planned today for them and Viorel was excited to see what surprised Eindride had in store. However, he wasn't only excited about that.
He was mostly excited to see Eindride again as the man had brought some favor to his lonely existence. He never expected that one day he would make a friend in this forest, but he was glad that he did.
He never expected that he would be this close with someone before, but it was so easy for him to open up to Eindride. Even though Viorel didn't have much to share, except what he learned around here, Eindride still listened to him and didn't judge him when he didn't or couldn't remember something from the living world. In fact, the man was quite patient when he explained things to the Romanian and was quite willing to share a lot of things. He even brought over books from the day side for Viorel to read so he could learn more about what life was like before he died. He even went out of his way to show certain celebrations by doing something related to it which brings them to today.
Viorel felt that Eindride was coming his way so he ran to hid behind a tree as he patiently waited for the man to come closer. He couldn't hold back his smirk as he patiently waited for Eindride to turn his back to him before he slowly sneaked behind. He waited until got close enough before he jumped on his back...well, he ment to jump on his back.
Eindride must have heard him coming because he sharply turned around and caught Viorel by the waist while trying not to fall to the ground.
"Aw," Viorel was disappointed that he didn't scare Eindride like he normally does. "You weren't supposed to catch me. You were supposed to let me scare you."
"Next time I will let you fall then." Eindride said as he let go of his waist. "Besides, are you ever going to stop doing that?"
"Nope," Viorel chuckled as he watched Eindride let out a sigh. "Anyways, is my surprised finished?"
"No, I came all this way to get you for nothing."
"Of course," Viorel smiled before taking his hand. "Show me what you have done for me."
"Before I do, I need you to get dress first." Eindride said. "I have your outfit in a bag hidden nearby. I need you to find it and get dressed before coming to our usual spot."
"Outfit?" Viorel asked. "Why do I need to change for?"
Instead of answering him, Eindride was already walking away and Viorel just stood there and watched him leave.
He let out a sigh before going into the woods and looking for his outfit. It didn't take him long to find what he was looking for.
He opened the bag to find a card with Eindride's handwriting on it. He picked up the card before reading it out loud. "If you can figure out the quote on the back of this card, then you know what your costume is base off of." He said.
Viorel slowly turned the card around and read the back of the card. 'I ask for so little. Just fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave.' He recongized it immediately. It was one of the books, which was a movie first before becoming a book, that Eindride had read to him once and it instantly became obsessed with it.
He put the card down before finally pulling out the outfit and knew that it was based off the dress from the ballroom scene. However, this wasn't a dress and he was grateful for that.
He looked at the many pieces of clothing and jewelry he had to put on. He first started put on the plain white pants and shirt before slipping on a shimmering silver coat with gold trim and an exrame long train. He grabbed the belt with the similar pattern and placed it around his waist to keep his coat closed. He then put on the finishing touches which was just vine-like decorations that this character had in her hair along with the earrings and the necklace.
Once he was finished, he looked at himself in a near by puddle. It was werid to see himself in white, gold, and silver. He always ever wore red and black so seeing himself in these colors was strange.
"Why Sarah though, Eindride?" Viorel whispered. "You could have picked any other character from Labyrinth and you chose her for me."
Viorel knew he couldn't keep Eindride waiting so he finally started to head towards their meeting spot.
As he was making his way there, there were craved pumpkins in a straight line on both sides of Viorel as if it was showing him the way. He could hear the faintness of music flowing through the air and it became louder as he got closer.
He finally made his way out of the woods as he saw a table filled candy and sweets that were shaped either like pumpkins, bats, ghost, and many more. There was even more decorations with the similar shapes and patterns. "Halloween," he whispered as he figured out what this was all for.
Eindride had promised he would give him a glimpse of what Halloween was about, since it was the holiday that Viorel was more interested in. However, he wasn't expecting it to be so soon and it looked like Eindride had put a lot of worked into this. He felt touched and he felt like he wanted to cry.
"Took you long enough," Viorel heard Eindride's voice behind him. "I thought I would have to come search for you."
"Yeah, sorry, I was..." Viorel trailed off when he turned to look at him and was struck by how handsome he looked.
Eindride was standing out in the lake as the moon shone behind him. He, too, was dressed up as a character from Labyrinth, but his costume was based off what Jareth was wearing during the ballroom scene. Viorel never seen him in black, but it looked good on him.
"You had a hard time finding the bag didn't you?" Eindride asked.
Viorel stopped gawking at him and shook his head. "No, I just got distracted is all." He said.
Viorel heard Eindride sighed before he walked over to him took his hand gently into his before pulling him towards the lake.
"So Mr. Goblin King, what do you have plan?" Viorel asked.
"I prefer Troll King over Goblin King," Eindride answered before turning to him. "I thought maybe we can dance together."
Viorel's eyes widen and stopped following him. "Wait, Eindride, I can't..." he said. "...I don't know how to dance and I..."
Viorel immediately stopped talking when he felt Eindride gently cupped his cheek gently as he felt his thumb lightly stroke his cheek gently. He felt him tilt his head up as Viorel's eyes met Eindride's violet ones.
"It's okay, Viorel. I will take the lead." Eindride whispered. "All you have to do is trust me."
Viorel nodded his head as he ingored the fluttering in his chest before he followed Eindride back out onto the lake after he removed his hand from his cheek. He placed his hand into Eindride's hand before placing his other hand on his waist before letting him take the lead.
There where several times where Viorel had stepped on Eindride's feet and he apologized profusely, but the Norwegian didn't seem to mind. After a while, he started to get the hang of it and wasn't stepping on his feet anymore. He felt more relaxed and at ease that he allowed Eindride to spin him around as he laughed with glee and enjoyed himself.
They both kept dancing as niether of them willing to let the other go. Viorel wasn't sure what happened next, but all he knew that once his eyes locked onto Eindride's, he was a goner. There was some type of pull that each other together and he didn't realize he was about to do until he felt Eindride's breath against his lips.
He pulled away and that seemed to snapped Eindride out of it, too, because he pulled away as well. He refused to look Eindride in his eyes as he felt his heart pounding wildly in his chest.
Eindride was the first to break the silence between the two of them. "We should go each the Halloween snacks before they go to waste." He said.
Viorel nodded and let Eindride walk away first. As he watched him leave, he raised his up and gently let his fingers brush against his lips. He couldn't help to feel a disappointed in himself as he let out a sigh.
"I shouldn't have pulled away." He whispered to himself as he removed his fingers before following after Eindride. "Next time, I won't."

Day 5 - Halloween
Written for day 5 of @aph-romnor-week
Warnings: talk of death, apathy
Word count: 1187
This came out more platonic than romantic, but oh well.
Nyo!Norway: Signe
Nyo!Romania: Mihaela
Some things in life are unexpected. Death, for example. Oh, most people have thought of dying at least once in their life, many have asked themselves just what will happen when they finally leave this earth, but the actual moment usually comes as a surprise. Well, Signe’s death certainly does. One moment, she’s rolling her eyes at her friends’ childish antics, the next, she finds herself on a busy platform, severed from her corporal form.

Day four of @aph-romnor-week
Theme: Understanding
Warnings: Mentions of Death, OCness, and Kind of Sad
Norway- Eindride
Romania- Viorel
Some more of this au and some pasts are revealed.
▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪
Viorel did end up eventually opening up to Eindride, but it happened when he shared something painful with the Romanian.
They were silently sitting under the wishing bells. Just enjoying the little breeze that passed through that is when Viorel interrupted their silence with his question.
"Eindride, can I ask you a question?" He asked.
Eindride turned to look at Viorel who was staring down at the ground as he was hugging his knees to his chest. "Yes?" He said.
"You don't have to answer this if you don't want to, but..." Viorel paused as Eindride silently waited for him to continue. His friend looked uncertain and unsure, but after a few minutes had passed by, he finally asked his question. "What was your life like when you were alive and how did you die?"
Eindride wasn't surprised by the question at all. To be honest, he was waiting for Viorel to ask this question. He did opened up to his friend and shared a little bit about his life before coming to this world, but he only ever shared the good parts and never the bad.
It wasn't that he never wanted to tell Viorel or that he didn't trust him. It was just hard for Eindride to put into words and it was hard for him to opened that piece of himself up to anyone. However, with Viorel, he wanted to try. Besides, maybe if he opened up, then Viorel will as well.
He took a deep breath before he begin. "My life wasn't so prefect when I was alive. I mean, it could have been worst, but it could have been better." He said. "For most of my life, it always been my mother, my brother, and myself. Our father had passed away when I was young and before my brother was even born so I don't remember much about him. My mother did her best to be a mother and a father to both Emil and myself. She was a wonderful woman and she was the one who gave me my hairpin."
Eindride felt a smile tug at his lips as the memories of his mother popped into his head. She may have been a strict and hard on him and his brother, but she was always there when they needed it. No matter how exhuasted she really was, she would always put their needs before her own. His mother was truly a beautiful beautiful person.
"All three of us had each other, we were happy until..." Eindride frowned as he gulped. "...I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and that is when things started to go south. I remember hearing my mother crying outside my hospital room when the doctors told her the news. Emil was crying as well next to my bed as he heard everything the doctor said. Seeing and hearing them so heart broken, hurt so much and I made the decision right then and there I would fight for them. I would fight every tooth and nail to stay alive for them. However, that became futile when the gods had a different plan in store."
He had to give himself a minute before continuing. "I was staying in the hospital. I asked my mom to go get a drink from the local gas station because I wanted something different then what the hospital had to offer. Emil went with her because he wanted to get out of the hospital for a while." His voice started to break at this part no matter how hard he tried to keep it together. "They were at the wrong place at the wrong time. There was a robbery happening at the gas station. One of the robbers attacked both my mother and brother with a knife. My mother had died on the way to the hospital while my brother was fighting for his life and was put on life support, but he, too, eventually died."
Eindride remembered the doctor coming in to tell him what happened. He remembered how desperate he was to wanting to get to his brother as he openly wept for his mother. He remembered his shock and horror as the news station showed how brutal the attacked was. The nightmares that followed as all he could ever hear was his mother's and brother's screams while the pain and guilt ate him alive on the inside.
He blamed himself for their deaths. He was the one that asked them to go to that gas station, after all. It was his fault. None of that would have happened if he just sucked it up and drink whatever the hospital gave him. However, he wasn't the only one he blamed.
He blamed the gods. He blamed them for his family's death. They were happy and they took that happiness away from him. They were the ones that put him through the many years of pain, guilt, anger, and sorrow. They couldn't even be merciful enough to end his life right when his brother had died. No, they had to keep him alive for several long, lonely and bitter years before the cancer finally killed him off.
He didn't realize he was crying or that his body was shaking until he felt Viorel's arms wrapped around him and pulled him close.
Eindride wrapped his arms around him and clung onto him for dear life. He buried his face into the side of his neck as he sobbed. "My only family was gone. I had nothing left in that world." He whispered. "So I ended up giving up the fight and let the cancer slowly and painfully kill me off."
He closed his eyes as he let the tears continued to fall while Viorel had gently started to run his fingers through his hair. He hadn't cried this much in a very long time and to be honest, he hated it, but he would be lying if he didn't say it didn't make him feel a little bit better.
"I am sorry," He said as he did feeling a little embarrassed about breaking down.
"You don't need to apologize." Viorel whispered gently into his ear. "I understand, I am here for you. Besides, you are human. You have thoughts and feelings so it is only natural for you to break down once in awhile."
Eindride just nod and didn't say anything else. He just held him close as he breathed in Viorel's calming scent. He didn't realize it before, but the Romanian smelled like smoke, rain, jasmine, and some other type of earthy scent he couldn't place.
Once he was calm enough, he asked the same question to his friend. "What was your life like before, Viorel?" He asked. "How did you die?"
Eindride felt him stiffen in his arms as the man's fingers stilled in his hair. He heard him let out a sigh in his ear before going silent again. He thought he wasn't going to answer before he heard him finally speak after a couple of minutes.
"I wish I could tell you, but I can't." Viorel whispered. "It's not that I don't want to...I just don't know."
Eindride pulled away a little so he could look into Viorel's eyes. "What do you mean by you don't know?" He asked.
"I don't have my memories of...my living life." Viorel explained. "All I know is my name and the only reason why I knew I was Romanian is because I heard a lady from the town speak it and she had a similar accent to mine. I can't remember if I even had a mother or a father. Did I even have any siblings? Was I even married and did I even have a family? Where was I even born and what did I did for a living? I don't even know how I died. All I ever known is this place, Eindride. Anything from my old life is gone to me and I am afraid I will never get it back."
"Couldn't you wish for your memories back like how we got my hairpin back?" Eindride asked.
"No," Viorel shook his head as his eyes stared sadly at the ground. "I already tried that and it didn't work. Besides, I honestly don't know if I even want to remember..."
Eindride could understand where Viorel was coming from. There was times where he didn't want to remember either, but that would mean there would be a chance he could forget about his brother and his mother. No matter how bad the past was to him, he wouldn't give it up if it ment he had to give up the only thing good he had when he was alive. However, Viorel's case was different from his. He had no memories and all this time he had been alone until Eindride came along. If he were to get them back, then it might bring him more pain then good. Since he is stuck in this forest on his own, there also might be the chance that his family isn't even here anyways.
Viorel interrupted his thoughts when Eindride felt his hand cup his cheek as he gently ran his thumb against skin.
"I may not be able to remember anything, but there is one thing I am grateful for." Viorel whispered. "I am grateful that I have you in my life. Without you being my friend and giving myself and this forest a chance, I probably would I been still alone. So thank you...for everything."
Instead of answering, Eindride pulled Viorel back into hug and held his close to his chest as he rested his chin on top of his head. He ingored the fluttering in his stomach as he closed his eyes.
"You will never be alone again." Eindride whispered. "I will make sure of it."

Day 4 - Understanding
Written for day 4 of @aph-romnor-week
Word count: 1318
Warnings: none
Last part of the non-AU stories! Hope the ending’s okay!
Two subjects are never brought up in conversation.
The first is their history. Oh, they know the basics - part of their job description involves reading up on happenings all over the world. But briefings delivered by exhausted workers and dry reports written by underpaid historians say nothing of the impact these events have had on the personifications who have lived through them. They don’t detail the ever-changing relationships between nations, between a nation and its people, between a nation’s people and its lands. The history books say nothing of the anguish of placing duty above family, those countless betrayals that were nothing more than orders they were forced to obey. They don’t mention the family lost over the years, the children they’ve raised to become strangers.
