I don't think Alfred is a bad guy at all, despite how rough he can be. However, I do think he is capable of being a real fuckin douche sometimes. I like to think of this with him being at odds about it internally. Deep, deep down, he wants to do good, to do things the right way. But he also knows that specific kind of idealism only really exists in the movies, in stories. Will it stop him from trying to live up to that, that is, being a hero? No. Externally though, this manifests in him being demanding and stubborn, insisting that his way is the only way. It's been like that since he was young, though. He's been given shoes too big for him to fill. And while he does live up to certain aspects of it, well– he's not perfect.

A nice character arc for him will start with cementing these values of his, then moving onto showing us how wrong things could go, then him realizing it (likely triggered by external factors as Alfred's always been attuned to things larger than him), and him making ammends. It won't always work, there will always be people who will hold the things he did or said against him, but the effort was there. As he matures, he'll realize it doesn't matter if they forgive him or not, but it does matter that he apologized regardless. He'll realize that the beauty of this Earth is that no one is exactly like him. People have different values and needs and it's unfair to demand that his and theirs be exactly the same.

Alfred is just an overeager puppy in the body of a 6 foot 4 Greek god with super strength. That's all.

- Not very! He’s quite earnest himself, so other people being brazen or earnest like himself is regarded with his usual grace. However, it is possible to fluster him. compliment him on things like his cooking, his homeland, or maybe even the little things besides his surface personality and appearance, and he’ll be stumbling over his words unsure of whether to return the favor or thank you! Overall 4/10, pretty hard to fluster.

germany

- As if to contrast Feli, he’s quite easy to fluster! He’s just so uptight about things, and quite duty bound. I advise against trying to fluster him whilst he’s working unless you two are very close; he doesn’t appreciate being distracted from work with “such trivial things”. To fluster him, one only needs to compliment him on anything else besides work. Work-related compliments will only get a polite smile and a “thank you, i did my best.” from him. Overall 7/10, quite easy to fluster.

- Flustered might be this man’s default phase around others. He’s been solitary since the beginning and genuinely enjoys his time alone, so putting him in unfamiliar situations and/or with unfamiliar people will get him flustered pretty quickly. However, he has slowly gotten better at taking compliments in stride. Overall 9/10.

prussia

- Surprisingly or unsurprisingly, he’s pretty similar to his younger brother! Sure, sure– he can handle compliments about his handsome looks and his totally-awesome work ethic, but when people compliment his overall drive and the little things like his compassion and determination, he gets a little red in the face. Or better yet, tell him you feel safe in his presence. He’s not very used to intimate compliments, if you will. He will rest assured thank you and ramble on with a “Of course i’m awesome, i’m Prussia, after all!!!” attitude, but he will remember the compliment and cherish it. Overall 6/10.

s.italy

- Very, very easily. He’s… not very confident, as it stands. If you compliment his looks, or his character, his little habits or even just the little things he does for people, he’ll get all red and try to tell you that no, he “wasn’t doing it for you, dammit.”, even though anyone with a pair of eyes can see that it’s quite specific. The only thing he doesn’t get flustered at though is compliments about his cooking. Of course he’s great, he’s Italy! Overall 8/10.
