Kimetsu no Yaiba: The End

As you all know, Kimetsu no Yaiba just ended recently at 205 chapters. Gotouge sensei did not exactly mention who ends up with who, but you can sort of guess it anyway from their predecessors.

Major spoilers under the cut...

Let’s take a look at Tanjirou’s predecessors:

Kanata, the eldest and Sumihiko, the youngest. Based from the color of Kanata’s eyes, yes, we can say that it’s Kanao & Tanjirou who got together at the end. He has a pretty deadpan expression, similar to his great grandmother. Also the name, Kana(ta). The kanjis differ but I think it’s Gotouge sensei’s way of pairing them together, mainly because of Inosuke’s predecessor.

Now, if you’ve seen the colored page, Aoba has green eyes and, if you’ve read the latest chapter, he acts rather timidly compared to his ancestor. Yes, He’s still a he. But from his name Ao(ba), it is safe to assume that he is in fact, the predecessor of Inosuke & Aoi. He works as a botanist, so I guess his love for plants stems from Aoi working at the Butterfly Estate. 

I’m just kind of sad that he’s NOT bffs with Tanjirou’s and Zenitsu’s great grandchildren. Because Inosuke, and all his baby boars, deserve all the love and companionship in the world. It would’ve been awesome if they were all still together since y’know... Giyuu, Sabito and Makomo are all hanging out now.

Last but not the least, this one was basically a given but... Yeah, Nezuko and Zenitsu’s great grandchildren have been introduced.

This one needs very little explanation but I found it funny that Yoshiteru is complaining that his older sister, Touko, is the complete opposite of all the women in their family *coughs* Nezuko *coughs* as she’s the only one who’s not well behaved. Oh yeah, If you haven’t noticed from the colored page, Touko and Kanata are dating. Now, for the rest of the Hashira: Muichiro & Yuichiro!!! Fated to be twins forever. 

Uzui is still Uzui in every sense of the word.

Shinobu & Kanae ‘nee-sama!

Himejima is still taking care of children, but as a preschool teacher this time around.

Obanai & Kanroji finally get the happy ending that they deserve. I’m really happy that they got a second shot at life.

Our favorite tsundere brothers (Sanemi & Genya) are police officers now. But they kinda look like Yakuza coz of the scars.

Rengoku is surprisingly bffs with Tanjiro’s youngest great grandchild.

Some of the supporting casts were also there (or were mentioned), like the blacksmiths, Zenitsu’s grandpa, Yushiro (who is still immortal) and many more. But the funniest is... Ubuyashiki-sama

After killing off all the males in their family at such a young age, they’re finally living way past their 90s. If my calculations are correct, this is STILL Kiriya-san (the original Ubuyashiki, who led them in defeating Muzan). Remember that the people introduced earlier were the main crew’s great grandchildren, and Kiriya was only 8 whet it all happened. If we assume that the characters had children when they were 18-20 years old (not uncommon during that time), then Kiriya would have been 10. Assuming that their grandfathers are still alive, then they would probably be in their 80s-90s and Kiriya would be in his 90s-100s. And there you have it. I’m really sad that it’s over. I felt like every character’s stories could have been explored more but all good things come to an end. Thank you so much Gotoge sensei!!! Aside from the story, thank you for drawing this. I’ve always had this headcanon that Kenma was going to study game design & production in Uni, become a game tester, and eventually set up his own company but...

This has been my long, most awaited panel. He’s my number one bb in Haikyuu! and now that we’ve seen what he’s become... I still can’t get enough. Please give us MORE Kenma. Him being a stock trader & youtuber kinda surprised me though. Because to be a youtuber would mean getting attention, and Kenma has always been iffy & conscious about that. You know, with the trolls bashing and disliking videos... I can imagine Kenma being unable to sleep whenever someone harshly comments on his -walkthroughs-. Speaking of, I can’t really see him acting like Pewdiepie (LOL) coz doing commentary might become too troublesome for him. You can see his growth in the few panels he was drawn in.  And about stocks, I would never have guessed that he’d do this. If you have any knowledge about trading stocks then you’d know. Kenma has to wake up early EVERY morning to watch the news and stuff. Sure, he’d be able to easily analyse the direction the market is headed, but this is KENMA. Kenma who stays up late at night, or wakes up before dawn just to play video games. 

I’m guessing that he used the money he earned as a pro-gamer & a youtuber, to dabble in stocks. And when he earned a significant amount, he started his own company?  Our baby boy is already so established at such a young age. He makes me want to cry & hug him. Also... DAMN IT! THAT HAIR STYLE! THAAAT HAIR STYLE, FURUDATE SENSEI GAVE HIM MY MOST FAVORITE -FAN- HAIR STYLE!

Good Lord, I am completely head over heels with Kozume Kenma! Ugh... My heart is so glad, it’s about to go into cardiac arrest!

Did not expect that plot twist, I think I fell in love with Yushiro all over again.

I hope this bb doesn’t die because I’m still depressed over Tokito & Genya. And yay! I’m excited to know Obanai’s backstory! FYEAH! It’s his turn to shine.

Also... Ain’t it cute that Kanao & Tanjiro both have a damaged eye? They’re not exactly an OTP of mine but it think they’re cute. Ahhh Kimetsu, you make me sad like no other but you have the purest characters. D: I love the character developments so much!

Recovery

Chapter 180 is up and it’s obvious that Gotouge sensei is rushing through the manga. Everything is happening so fast despite the regular weekly updates. I think most of you agree with me on this? That chapter was lackluster especially so since it followed right after Ch. 179 which was a feels train. I’m still waiting for the sword color change explanation, as well as how the breath derivatives were mastered by the pillars (former or otherwise) since Upper Moon 1 said that he collaborated with Muzan to destroy the OG breath users.

Love Between Brothers

Chapter 179 is up & these panels are enough to sum up my feelings for this chapter... Spoilers under the cut...

I’ve always been partial to Muichiro because I love love him. He is part of my top 3 fave KnY babies so it really hurt to see him go. His death was more on the bittersweet side because he happily died for his friends. Regardless, I, on the other hand, am not happy about his sacrifice but it’s not like I have a say in the matter. But the goodbye scene between Genya & Sanemi gave me so many feels, just 2nd to Akaza’s. Like wtf Gotouge sensei, WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?! What did the universe ever do to you??? I just wish the author wasn’t pummeling through the endings though. He could’ve prolonged killing off the Pillars (and by default the Upper Moons). Like, we needed more encounters with the demon slayers, more stories of their lives prior to becoming Hashiras but alas, it just wasn’t meant to be. Imma go cry in a corner now.

My Japanese is a bit rusty but... Here’s a translation...

Eren: Recently, did Petra tell you that she felt small, nervous & difficult to be around you? Didn’t you say anything back? Levi: ... No, I didn’t say anything. What are you talking about?

UPDATE: The one who commented below has the proper translation down. His/Her translation makes more sense. Eren’s dialogue used 「」- These are equivalent to “” & are used when quoting someone. This confused me because he used it BEFORE saying Petra’s name so I translated it differently. It’s difficult to translate Japanese text when you don’t have the full context. I’m really sorry for that!! And they aren’t exactly using formal Japanese either so it’s more difficult to understand. A little Nihongo 101 When directly quoting a person you use this pattern. Name は「What that person said.」と言います。 言う means “to say” in Japanese. Again, sorry for my mistake!

Your brother never did anything wrong. He sacrificed everything just for YOU even if it meant disappearing from you & your whole family’s life. But it wasn’t enough.  You never even realized that for Yoriichi, YOU were his SUN. 

And maybe you did regret your actions just the teeniest tiniest bit… But at the end of the day, you were just an envious, greedy little piece of shit. I mean you could’ve stopped being an asshole the moment you killed your brother found the flute your brother treasured, but you carried on and even killed your descendants and the OG sun breath users. Anyway... I think that there’s still a demon lurking somewhere. The new Upper Moon 5. Muzan replaced all the dead Upper Moons already but we haven’t seen Gyokko’s replacement yet. He/She will prolly appear when Kanroji & Obanai are fighting with the new Upper Moon 4 or when our original babies fight Muzan himself.

I am still currently in a state of denial disbelief about the battle between Upper Moon 1. Spoilers under the cut...

Was not expecting Tokito & Genya to die the way they did. Pardon my french but WTF?!?!? WHAT THE ACTUAL FUUUU-------!?!?! Everything happened so fast. In chapter 175, I thought that Tokito only got cut in the stomach because he was still able to move and think even til the end of the chapter. But boy, I was so wrong. I want to cry. I should have paid attention that the moon slice thing went right through him

I think everybody, who has been following the manga, can agree that he, and Genya (but it’s hard to count him due to his demonic regenerative powers) had the most gruesome deaths out of all the Demon Slaying Corps so far. Yes, even worst than those who died at spider mountain and in the swordsmith village.

First, his hand gets cut off in chapter 165, right before upper moon 1 impales him.

Then he almost got his carotid artery cut...

Let’s not forget how, under his orders, Genya shot him to get to Upper Moon One.

And, as if that wasn’t enough, he gets sliced in half.

I honestly did not understand this part right away. 

He was still moving after this and his sword had even turned red FFS. So I was confused and thought he had lived somehow and that it was just blood, but yeah, you can see how well severed his body was. Even at the start of chapter 176, he looked alive to me. Bleeding to death, but looking pretty much alive. Props to Kokushibo, because Tokito literally was in pieces.

But when Himejima, and even Kokushibo, announced that Tokito and Genya were dead. I was really surprised that I had to go back and reread the previous chapter.

And, as icing to the cake, Kokushibo had to friggin’ cut his other arm off!

HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU HAVE TO CHOP A 14 YEAR-OLD’S BODY?! He’s the youngest and he died this way? My poor heart is about to explode from grief.

Tokito really was something. He always had a kind heart. He could’ve stopped fighting but he gave his life for them to defeat Upper Demon 1. See, in the opening illustration, he had Genya tie his sword so that he’d still be able to fight.

The fight was so ironic and poignant in every sense imaginable. 

It was only until death that Kokushibo (Formerly Michikatsu) admitted that all he ever wanted was to be like his brother. And that, he, who selfishly became a demon due to not wanting to die young, faced his descendant who, despite being only 14, gave his life to defeat him.

And that Sanemi, who avoided his brother in order for Genya to life a full life, had only these few last moments with him. He and Himejima couldn’t even pause for a minute when the two youngsters died because Kokushibo was trying to regenerate. Albeit a small part of me still believes that Genya is alive because he ate Upper Moon One’s sword.

So now, 3 of my favorites are dead (Ubuyashiki, Shinobu & Tokito)  and I seriously don’t know what to feel about this. I’m pretty sure the count is about to rise.

Had to color & edit everything using photoshop. I just had to combine my love for Blend S and Kimetsu no Yaiba by doing this because the OP theme really fits my children. They all deserve better (and a happy ending) so here’s something fun for a change. The idea had been stuck in my head since yesterday. WonFest Summer 2019

Kinda late because I’m in Japan right now but wth. So this will be a photo heavy post but before that, a little disclaimer that the photos aren’t mine...

Let’s start with the Nendoroids I’ve been waiting for!

Legit crying because of this. When it was announced I screamed ‘OMG NYANKO SENSEI! I gotta buy 3 of these!’ because everybody here knows my love for Natsume! Then we have the Hunter x Hunter crew! Seriously, why are they only releasing these ones now? 

I love that they chose THIS Gon but where is Leorio? I hope they make for every Phantom Troupe member because I love our Trouble Trio.

They also made one of Tanjiro (Also of Nezuko, but gonna make this an all male figure/nendo post)

And an Akutagawa for Bungou Stray Dogs. Now he can be together with Dazai, Chuuya & Nakajima!! Speaking of...

Never Disappear

I didn’t make a post for Chapter 167 (Prayer) of Kimetsu no Yaiba because I only had one thought while reading it ‘Sanemi is going to die, isn’t he?’ but Chapter 168 is out, so... Spoiler under the cut...

He didn’t. Not yet but I really hope NOT EVER. He’s badass. He’s great. He’s a hot headed, badass, suicidal hashira. And initially, I felt like I wouldn’t care if he died because of what he did to my best girl Nezuko, but I was wrong... I was so wrong. His backstory, albeit similar to Tanjirou’s, is really... wow.

He brings badassery to a whole other level. Seriously. Who ties demons up like that and burns them? Sanemi. Only Sanemi. 

And this... Just when he found a friend. My poor bb boi. You not only had to kill your mom, but you couldn’t save your friend. But... as much as my heart went out to him... This chapter killed me because of Oyakata-sama. His conversation with Sanemi made my heart ache so very much.

I love him so much. Ugh. He knew he was fated to die. Had the gift of ‘foresight’ so he probably knew HOW he was going to die. He was ill but this man TRIED. 

He always tried his hardest for the corps. Even Sanemi was shocked to silence because this man has given everything for their cause.  UBUYASHIKI!!!!!! WHY?!?!?!  Kanae also makes an appearance... My poor heart can’t take this.

See?? UBUYASHIKI-SAMA IS THE GREATEST LEADER EVER! Nobody can tell me otherwise! Everybody knows how much he cares and loves the Demon Slayer Corps that’s why they all love, and respect him, back. But... On a VERY happy note...

Translated this entire thing on a whim at twitter and I can already feel that this is going to be a tear jerker NOT because the girl might die but because of the dialogue at the end. The animation seems really nice and the OST is looking good imho. I love that my best girl Hamabe Minami is the seiyuu for Ruri (the female lead)! I think this is her voice acting debut so I can’t wait. If you don’t know her, she played Menma in the live action AnoHana, Yumeko Jabami in the Kakegurui live action series &, of course, Sakura in I Want to Eat Your Pancreas.
